Illegal Immigrant Superintendent Scandal Rocks Des Moines Schools - October 2nd, Hour 3
Sean Hannity spotlights the chaos caused by Dr. Ian Roberts, a Des Moines superintendent detained by ICE for illegal entry, false citizenship claims, and possessing a loaded weapon. Sean frames the incident as a warning about lax vetting, stressing the harm to American families and taxpayer funds. Iowa Rep. Zach Nunn joins Hannity, detailing his team's swift uncovering of Roberts' lengthy record of fraud while calling out Democrats for playing the victim and prioritizing politics over public trust. The episode underscores how failures in oversight and hiring expose U.S. institutions and families to significant risk, energizing the call for accountability and reform in schools and immigration enforcement.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
And those remarks there, I counted, called you a communist eight times.
Are you?
No.
I'm a Democratic Socialist.
I've said that time and again.
I mean, his to-do list, I think just says, um, golf, uh, attack black women, attack enemies, uh, alienate our allies.
There is no insurrection, there is no threat to national security, and there is no need for military troops in our major city.
Freedom is back in style.
Welcome to the revolution.
Yeah, we're coming.
Don't play out gentiles and saying you will confuse all.
Sean Hannity.
More behind the scenes information on breaking news and more bold inspired solutions for America.
Coming up next, our final news roundup and information overload hour.
All right, news roundup and information overload hour.
Here's our toll free telephone number if you want to be a part of the program.
It's 800-941.
If you want to be a part of the uh program.
Um, anyway, so we have this guy hired by the Des Moines District, which has 30,000 students, nearly 5,000 employees, anyway, in July of 2023.
Detained last week by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement by ICE, followed by a brief car chase.
He was taken into custody because he had a final order of removal and no work authorization.
Authorities, you know, said at the time.
He entered the U.S. illegally, you know, authorities said uh through I guess New York on August 30th, 1999, F1 student visa to attend St. John's University in New York City.
It's actually in Queens.
But Roberts was not legally authorized to work in the U.S. after his employment authorization.
Anyway, Homeland Security officials said that Roberts faced weapon possession charges in February of 2020, was given a five final order of removal by an immigration judge.
That was in May of 24.
It's ridiculous how long this takes.
After his arrest, authorities said that they found a loaded handgun in his vehicle.
Anyway, here's uh Jackie Norris, Des Moines Public School Chair, confirming the superintendent failed to provide proof that he was legally eligible to work for the district.
DMPS reviewed Dr. Roberts I-9, where he stated he was a U.S. citizen and provided two forms of ID, a driver's license and a social security card.
And Denton Stavis Brown determined the information submitted was consistent with his claim that he was a U.S. citizen.
However, in the past 24 hours, the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners revoked Dr. Roberts' license, meaning he is not able to serve as a superintendent in our state.
Yesterday afternoon, the Department of Homeland Security informed us that he is not eligible to work in the United States and therefore could not be employed in any fashion at DMPS.
There are several reasons there are several reasons leading to just cause for termination.
However, the above two actions by different government agencies mean that Dr. Roberts can no longer remain employed with our school district.
In accordance with due process, we gave Dr. Roberts an opportunity through his attorney to provide any information that would substantiate his claims by answering a set of questions regarding citizenship.
He did not provide the board with the information we requested.
Instead, he submitted a letter of resignation through his attorney, and the board will vote to accept his resignation.
As each board member votes, please know that the school board made the difficult but right decision given the circumstances.
I mean, it's pretty outrageous.
There's like zero checks and balances in this entire process.
And here we go again, and it just never ends.
we don't hold people accountable.
You know, this guy, you know, it took four years after a warrant that said you had to leave the country and the person's still here, then again found with a loaded weapon.
It's unreal.
We wonder why, you know, we have innocent families that have to suffer and lose loved ones, families like Lakin Riley and Jocelyn Nungarry and Rachel Morin.
Uh how many American families have lost loved ones murdered, how many families have had family members raped and victims of other violent crime.
Look at the havoc caused by cartel members unvetted in the country, gang members unvetted in the country, drug dealers unvetted in the country, known terrorists unvetted in the country.
And it it just continues.
It's pretty spectacular that the Democrats don't seem to care.
They're fighting for your tax dollars to go to illegal immigrants and their health care, which is why they've shut down the government in spite of the lies they've been trying to push on the American people, which they now have been exposed about.
Vice President J.D. Vance actually brought the receipts to target Democrats' health care ven benefits and how much money they want to allocate for it.
And in spite of them claiming over and over again that it's not true, they're wrong.
Uh Democrats, in fact, have been, and it's written out there, and and Speaker Johnson crushed Georgie Stephanopoulos, uh, saying, yeah, illegal immigrants, that has been one of their ass.
That's what they were fighting for from the very beginning.
And, you know, Obamacare spiking premium now is is is a result of all this.
Anyway, here to weigh in on this and and much, much more.
Uh we welcome to the program.
Uh Representative Zach Nunn of Iowa's Third District, and none is a member for the county uh caucus, uh, which is Iraq and Afghanistan veterans that serve in the House.
Uh well, thank you for your service.
Thanks for your organization.
And uh these guys don't get the credit that they deserve.
Thank you for being with us.
Well, Sean, thank you so much for having us on.
Look, um, we are right now, I'm a Iraq Afghanistan veteran servant in one of the most competitive districts in the country, right here in Des Moines, Iowa, where the superintendent was found to be in the country illegally.
Our team did the hard work that was not that hard of finding out within hours through DOJ, ICE, and DHS, that this guy was not a U.S. citizen.
We were able to get um a FOIA request in, and it showed clearly that he had a deportation order out of this country um after he fled from police and had a weapon.
And as you noted, Jackie Norris, the head of the Des Moines Public Schools, the chair of the board, who happens to be running as a Democrat for the U.S. Senate here in Iowa, said on Monday, we need radical empathy for this guy.
He's uh, you know, the victim in this situation, and we shouldn't be trusting ICE with the refrain coming from liberal media in Des Moines.
Well, within hours we found out this guy not only wasn't a U.S. citizen, he was expelled from the country a year prior.
His educational degrees were a lie.
Uh, he had a fake social security number, and he was a registered voter in Maryland.
At the tune of $300,000 per year in a paycheck.
That's money out of the Iowa taxpayers that's a disservice to our entire community.
He lied not only to the school board, but to all of us here in Iowa, we should hold this guy accountable.
And today, Jackie Norris comes out and says, Well, we're the victims in this situation.
We're the ones who have been treated poorly by our search firm.
That they didn't find out this guy was illegal before we hired him.
And it's at the same time, Sean, that the Department of Justice is now opening up an investigation into the Des Moines School Board that they were going to hire this guy no matter what, because they like his profile more than his merit.
And that is a disservice to every one of these 30,000 great kids in Iowa who have been put in this political position of hiring for the profile versus hiring for the profession of somebody who should be leading Iowa's largest school district.
It's a shame, Sean.
I'm glad we were able to shine light on it.
Thank you for taking up The charge of also recognizing these liberals when they uh claim victim mentality for their own failings.
Let me let me move on to the issue of the Schumer shutdown, because it is the Schumer shutdown, and Chuck Schumer's entire career, we've proved it over and over again all throughout the years, has consistently said he doesn't support government shutdowns, how bad they are, how awful they are, how dangerous they are, etc.
Uh and now because he wants to his his blind political ambition transcends any principle, he's now giving in to the radicals that run his party, uh people that I'm sure you deal with in a very pleasant way every single day, and he has to do what they say.
And in the end, it's not going to pay dividends for him, so his political calculation and political compass, I believe, is off.
Never mind his lack of moral clarity.
Uh it was pretty cool to watch, you know, Speaker Johnson.
He's been doing some media interviews.
One was on fake news CNN, and they cut off the Republican press conference to censor him, and he points out on page 57 of the Democrats' own bill.
They insist we restore 200 billion dollars in health care subsidies for illegal aliens.
It's on page 57.
The Democratic proposal is designed to prevent millions of Americans from losing their health insurance, losing Medicaid coverage, or paying higher health care premiums.
Why are you against that?
That's an absurd uh statement, what you said there.
Let's be clear about what happened last night, George.
No, George, let me tell you what happened last night.
Everybody can go and review the facts for themselves.
Forty-four Senate Democrats voted to reject a clean, nonpartisan continuing funding resolution to keep the United States government open.
The Democrats said instead that they wanted to give health care to illegal aliens instead of keeping critical services provided for the American citizens.
That's what happened, plain and simple.
Here are the facts.
The proposal does not provide health care for illegal immigrants.
Illegal interests cannot buy health care under the Affordable Care Act.
They cannot receive health care subsidies.
Legal immigrants are ineligible for Medicare, Medicaid, and the children's health program.
The Democratic bill does not make them eligible.
It does actually, because what it does is it unwinds the changes that Republicans put into the big beautiful bill.
I mean, it was such a checkmate moment, but you can just tell what a partisan hack uh he has been throughout his career.
It's not really good to play on radio, but there was a great moment on Fox and Friends this morning with my my friend and colleague Lawrence Jones, and he was interviewing Democratic Senator Janine Shaheen, and she said, Oh, I haven't heard anybody in my party saying illegals should get taxpayer-funded health care.
And then he rolled uh the the last it was in 20, I believe it was 2019, uh uh Democratic presidential primary debate, and he asked they asked the question how many of you would support illegal immigrants having access to government taxpayer funded health care, and everybody raised their hands.
So they're lying when they say they don't support this.
They're lying when they say they didn't put it in their provision.
What's your reaction?
John, you're so right on this.
Look, I can go to any one of my rural county hospitals, and I was third congressional district here, and I can say, what is bleeding out your system the quickest?
And it's absolutely these folks who come in, many of them illegal in the country unlawfully, and show up at the ER, and they're asking for everything from, you know, I fell off uh the ladder at a work site to I've been dropped here by my handler uh because they don't want to deal with me anymore.
This is exactly what Speaker Johnson and Republicans have called out in the facade, the the Schumer shutdown is saying, hey, we want another one and a half trillion dollars in spending on things so-called for medical coverage.
But if you go to page 57, right there in their own bill manifesto, it says that they're gonna be providing hundreds of billions of dollars to folks who are in the country not only illegally, but bleed out the health care system that Americans need.
And they're doing this on the back of fellow service members like myself, combat veterans who are not getting paid today, two thousand from Iowa in the National Guard, deployed to Iraq, who are not getting their paychecks, their rent covered, their spouse's minivan lease being repossessed because the Democrats who said just six months ago it would be a disaster to shut down the government.
In their words, people will die if we shut down the government.
But they're the first ones to stand up and stop paychecks to military troops because they want to have a negotiation about something that might happen by the end of the year, but they're going to try and force it today.
This is exactly Chuck Schumer's shutdown, but it's not just him.
It is him being held hostage by the AOC's party primary on his end, because he is no longer in a position to lead.
He's not brave enough to stand up for the country, and he's clearly coward by a primary opponent potential in New York versus taking care of the entire nation, not to mention those men and women on the front line defending our entire country.
Any consensus candidate uh since Joni Ernst is going to be retiring or no?
We've got we've got some great leadership here in Iowa.
I'm thrilled that one of my partners, Ashley Henson, uh, who's in Iowa's congressional second district, the one of the mine's the hardest, hers is right up there with it, but she's gonna run for U.S. Senate.
Joni's been a great warrior for us.
I'm excited to see Ashley Henson stepping up to run for Iowa.
We can win this, but we've got real hardship here in the fact that you know, New York and California Democrats are throwing money into Iowa, trying to pick up my seat, her seat, and the Senate race if they can make it work.
We don't need another Democrat in the Senate uh pushing back on passing good appropriations bills.
We need to make sure that we hold this seat and grow our Senate majority, and most importantly, keep our House majority.
If we lose this, uh House, President Trump has endorsed me.
It's gonna be a hundred impeachments.
Last question.
Uh people want to get in touch with you.
How do they do it?
Check us out, ZachNunn.com, Z-A-C-H-N-U-N-N.com.
We'd love your help, but we also want to keep the fight right here in Des Moines.
Let's hold our superintendent accountable, let's hold Schumer accountable, and let's keep the Trump administration in a successful spot going forward after the midterms.
Thanks, Sean.
Appreciate what you do for us.
Appreciate you being with us.
Uh anyway, uh, Congressman uh Zach Nunn is with us from Iowa.
All right, when we come back, we'll hit the phones toll-free.
Our number is 800-941 Sean, if you want to be a part of the program.

I think one of the more entertaining moments, and I've been saying this, I've been meaning it, and this goes back to when Nancy Pelosi was the speaker in name only, as I call her.
So the real leader is AOC.
And saying it for a long time.
You know, Hakeem Jeffries is leader in name only, Chucky Schumer, leader and name only.
They have no power.
They must capitulate to the radicals that now dominate their party.
Uh, that's why Chuck Schumer is, you know, pretty much selling his soul and and everything he's ever stated publicly on the issue of government shutdowns.
And, you know, it's funny to watch AOC daring the GOP come to my office and negotiate directly with me.
Pretty entertaining.
Listen.
And I want to just ask you straight up like, are you planning to primary challenge him?
Do you think that's why he's doing this?
This is so not about me in this moment.
This is about people being able to insure their children.
And I will say, because I saw some senators speculating about this, and I saw some Republican members of Congress saying, oh, well, if we have this shutdown, it's because of AOC.
Well, if that's the case, my office is open and you are free to walk in and negotiate with me directly.
Because what I'm not going to do is tolerate four million uninsured Americans because Donald Trump decided one day that he wants to just make sure that kids are dying because they don't have access to insurance.
Now, that did not go over well with Nancy Pelosi, who gets very visibly angry when asked if AOC is pushing Democrats to their left flank and if she's the leader.
There was a thought from the Republicans that AOC is directing this.
And she said that senators are welcome to go to her office directly.
Is she is she driving that?
Why is he saying such a ridiculous thing?
I'm just quoting what AOC said.
She said go to her office directly.
Do you think there's any she's not directing this?
She's wonderful.
She's a real uh uh team player and the rest of that.
You started by saying Republicans saying that she's directing this.
She is not how Kim Jeffries is, and uh this takes a lot of experience, a lot of unity from the caucus in terms of uh the point of view, and that's what this is.
She's an articulate uh spokesperson for her point of view, Hakeem Jeffries is leading this.
Oh.
I wonder who is the leader.
Uh is that really a question?
Do we really think that this isn't about AOC?
Do we really believe that Chuck Schumer just you know magically changed his opinion?
Uh not not factoring in the possibility, the very real possibility that AOC would challenge him in a primary in New York State, and that she would wipe the floor with him.
Nah, sure, it had nothing to do with him changing a lifelong position, and he looks like an idiot.
And if he thinks this is gonna somehow uh save his job, it's really gonna be up to AOC if she decides to primary him.
Now, she may have her eyes on the White House for 2028.
I mean, that these are the radicals that are the Democratic Party.
The most uh the most amazing part of this that they haven't factored in that they all have a track record and it's abysmal.
It is tragic failure.
And you know, that's why you know it's pathetic, sadly, to watch Gavin Newsom, you know, he's not even a part-time governor.
It's like, you know, he's an occasional governor, full-time tweety bird, full-time podcaster, full-time Trump stalker, uh Trump troll wannabe, and he's not Trump, and he's not even funny.
I mean, it's just sad.
He can't be his own person.
And he's got a track record that's a disaster.
And the question will be does does America want to be California?
I can tell you right now, he doesn't win that debate.
I don't care how cl how slick he is.
I don't care if he he's from central casting, it won't impact people in this country.
Anyway, uh Sam is in Kentucky.
Sam, hi, how are you?
Glad you called my friend.
Good.
Glad to be here.
Sam I am from Kentucky.
I was interested in talking about the Schumer shutdown.
I'm a conservative.
I'm a political activist.
And I don't know how lucky Donald Trump could be that they did shut it down.
This gives the OMB in a White House an opportunity to quickly restructure government, get rid of the waste.
So, yeah, I guess conservatives, we should all be happy for what Schumer did.
We're lucky that he did it for us.
Made it easy.
Listen, I I I said this on day one.
They just opened up the door for Doge 2.0.
And and Trump is, and even the Washington Post acknowledged it yesterday.
I mean, I'm like, okay, we're a little bit ahead of the curve as usual.
That's fine.
Uh, but they have no idea.
You know, they have now opened Pandora's box and positions will be canceled.
Donald Trump and OMB will be the ones that decide where the layoffs and the cuts will take place, and getting rid of waste, fraud, abuse, corruption uh is imperative.
I mean, I hate to say it.
There are there are some very nice people that I'm sure are very dedicated to their job.
But you know, look at how much money we exposed being spent, the billions and trillions of dollars in in USAID, and we cannot steal from our children and grandchildren any longer.
We've got to bite the bullet at some point.
And it's sad that people have been put in physicians they never should have been given.
And I do feel sorry for people.
I do care about people that may not be getting paid.
I feel sorry for people that that may in the end end up losing their job.
The only good news I can offer them is with seventeen trillion dollars in committed investments in manufacturing coming online and energy production coming online, that there's gonna be plenty of opportunities for people if you don't have self-imposed limitations in terms of where you live geographically.
Listen, I would never be behind this microphone today if I said, Well, I only want to live here or there.
No, I I've lived in six different states now.
You know, as I was like a radio nomad for years, going from state to state to state, which you know is the best experience of my life, and I'm very grateful.
Anyway, appreciate the call, my friend.
Uh 800-941 Sean, if you want to be a part of the program, Mike in Arizona.
What's up, Mike?
How are you, sir?
Glad you called.
Hey, good morning, Sean.
It is an honor to talk with you.
Um I am a retired Desert Storm veteran.
And I collect my retirement and my disability pay thanks to the time that I was in.
What's got me really angry and pissed off is that you have representatives in Congress are saying, Well, I'm gonna draw my pay because I have kids and I have bills that have to be paid.
What about the rest of us?
I guess we don't count.
Well, first of all, did you hear the interview with Hakeem Jeffries when he just asked if he was gonna, you know, not forego his pay.
Let me let me play it for you, and by the way, thank you for your service.
But uh stay on the line.
I'll get right back to you.
I want you to hear this.
There's been several members of Congress and have asked if the KHD repelled if this shutdown Do you advise Democratic members do that?
Or is it up to them?
Yeah, that's a question that every individual member is gonna have to make uh on their own, as has always been the case in the past.
Will you withhold yours?
Uh first of all, uh that question is not even a ripe one because we're anticipating that this shutdown issue will be resolved well in advance of our next paycheck.
Well, that'll be about the middle of October, so we'll see.
Uh, but what's your reaction to that?
I'm not holding my breath.
With what they are asking for, one point four trillion or whatever it is, and then they want to put uh trans 1.5 trillion, but yes.
Okay.
If they want to keep putting all this crap in and paying for health care for illegals, uh that's just not gonna happen.
If the Republicans bow down to this, then they've lost my respect.
I've known Donald Trump for 30 years, not happening.
Not gonna happen.
What is it gonna take to pass legislation to say we shut down, y'all don't get paid.
Yeah, I mean, I'm not getting paid.
Why should they I don't I don't I uh I don't think any of them should get paid, and I I do feel the people I feel uh I'm not sure because you you mentioned you were disabled, and I'm not sure if you will be impacted by this because I know Social Security is viewed as essential.
I know that veteran services are viewed as essential.
I would imagine people like yourself probably will get your check.
I don't know for sure.
Um, certainly check with your with your congressman or woman, and and I'll certainly be glad to lobby on your behalf if I can and talk to people that uh I have the ability to be to be in contact with to try and and advocate for that uh on your behalf.
Um, but I can tell you that waste, fraud, abuse, corruption.
Uh it's it's it's gotta go because what we're doing is unconscionable.
We're robbing our kids and grandkids of their future.
I mean, you know, they're holding the country hostage over 1.5 trillion, including monies for illegal immigrant health care.
Uh, and it's only for a seven-week continuing resolution.
I mean, there's no way they're getting that.
It's never gonna happen.
Now it's a matter of when they give in and what the circumstances are.
Um it could be fast.
You know, enough Democrats that are up for re-election in the in the next midterm might say, I don't want any part of this crap.
And they may just walk away from it and say, no, we're up to 55 senators total.
We need 60.
So we need five Democrats to have enough sense to realize that this is political suicide.
Yeah, I know.
I've sent an email to our senator here, which is Mark Kelly, and go figure.
No answer.
Yeah, go figure.
Uh sad.
They should be responsive.
But I'm very grateful for your service.
God bless you, and and I hope everything works out for you, okay.
Uh, the United Socialist Utopia of California, Jeremy, next on the Sean Hannity Show.
What's up, Jeremy?
How are you?
Glad you called.
Thanks, Sean.
Good afternoon to you, brother.
First of all, I just want to say that you're speaking to a lifelong, bleeding heart New York liberal, but not anymore, Sean.
I'm my senses.
Uh, because Sean, there's no more Joe Liebermans, no more Dick Gephardts, no more blue dog democrats, you know, moderate democrat, which I thought I was, but I see what's going on.
It's just it's absurd, Sean.
And if I could say something about a Kamala Harris and uh Newsom, that's just uh I work out here.
I don't want to say exactly who I work for, but the homeless problem out of control.
And uh I just recently was watching Kamala.
Ugh.
And she was at the black congressional caucus foundation, and she said, quote, fight fire with fire, end quote.
Sean, what's she talking about, man?
I mean, President Trump's doing a phenomenal job trying to prevent illegals from raping America's women, murdering.
What why is she saying he's fighting fire?
And also not just that, but you know, you got Dr. Navarro, Peter Navarro.
Awesome.
God bless Peter Navarro for caring about U.S. manufacturers and American workers.
So what's she talking about, Sean?
I have no does anybody know when what she's talking about?
No.
Kind of like the moment that Trump was debating Biden and the con them uh whoever was moderating that debate says, uh, Mr. President, would you uh uh President Trump, would you like to respond to what he just said?
He goes, I have no idea what he just said, and I don't think he has any idea what he said.
I don't think Kamala knows what she's saying half the time.
Anyway, my friend, God bless you.
My advice is to get the hell out of there and you know, move to a free state.
All right, that's gonna wrap things up for today.
A great Hannity tonight, nine Eastern on the Fox News Channel.
What a showdown, Senator Josh Hawley had yesterday.
We'll get that in tonight.
Jack Chidarelli, dead even in the blue state, deep blue state of New Jersey.
Uh Border Czar Tom Holman will join us.
David Asman will join us.
Well, it turns out Mam Donny sounds a little bit like Fidel Castro back in the day.
We'll explain.
Victor Davis Hansen, Joe Concha, that you DVR tonight, Hannity, nine Eastern on Fox.
