What I told people I was making a podcast about Benghazi, nine times out of ten, they called me a masochist, rolled their eyes, or just asked, why?
Benghazi, the truth became a web of lies.
From Prologue Projects and Pushkin Industries, this is Fiasco, Benghazi.
What difference at this point does it make?
Listen to Fiasco, Benghazi, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
All right.
Thank you, Scott Shannon, and thank you for being with us.
Write down our toll-free telephone number.
It's 800-941-Sean, if you want to be a part of the program.
A lot coming up on the show today.
Also, expect the president might be taking questions.
He did have a cabinet meeting earlier today.
I kind of like the fact.
I mean, we need to go and start researching the time that the president has given to the press and compare it to Joe Biden.
I think after 100 days, he might have surpassed the entire 40 years of the time that Joe Biden gave the press because he opens it up every day.
I mean, it's kind of cool to see a president with his cabinet in the Roosevelt room in a meeting with the press aloud and asking questions as usual and his availability and his time on display so people can see what he's doing.
But, you know, it is amazing to watch and to listen to the Democrats.
Let me play for you the Democrats' meltdown about Donald Trump's first 100 days.
And just while you're listening to this, just remember the party that they have become.
Chuck Schumer is now polling at a whopping 17%.
You're now probably seeing the last days of Chucky.
If AOC primaries him, she will win.
Question is whether or not she has her eyes on running for president over being the senator from the horrific state of New York.
It's become horrific because it's run by Democrats for decades and they've run it into the ground.
And I don't think Andrew Cuomo is going to change New York City.
I mean, there are parts of New York that are still nice, but upstate New York never got the financial boost that it was certainly capable of getting had they opened up fracking.
I mean, it's hilarious because, you know, just across the border in Pennsylvania, they're fracking away right next to that border and probably taking most of New York's gas with it.
It's so stupid on their part.
And they just refuse to do the common sense things.
And they just, if you go into New York City, for example, you're paying a commuter tax.
I think you'll be paying like 15 bucks each way just for the right to go into the city if you go in certain areas of New York City.
It's crazy.
But just remember, this is the party of petulant anger, sit-ins, slogans, sing-ins, and bingo paddles.
And this is the party now led by the squad, AOC, Jasmine Crockett, Grandpa Bernie.
This is the party that has lost its soul and any decency.
And the only thing that they're left doing is lashing out.
It won't stand for moms that lost their kids, for wives that lost their hero husband officers or even a 12-year-old kid that beat cancer.
Pretty unbelievable to me.
And they're void of ideas.
I mean, watching this weekend, this stupid Capital steps, you know, Hakeem Jeffries and Corey Booker and the singer.
I mean, it's like, ugh, it's so cringe-inducing.
And they're melting down, and Donald Trump is moving at the speed of light.
Donald Trump made the country, forget about everything else.
This country is more safe and more secure today.
He stopped all these illegal immigrants.
I'll give you the numbers in a minute.
And he's now in the process of deporting them.
And Democrats are in the process of trying to prevent him from being able to deport illegal immigrants.
And add to that, he's opened up energy production in this country.
And we're already beginning to produce it as of yesterday.
And give that a year or two.
And let's see the impact it has on the economy.
And we'll talk about the economy in a little bit.
And look at what the president has done as it relates to waste, fraud, and abuse.
But that's a constitutional crisis in so many people's minds.
I mean, if you just, if you're objective and you look at the president and what he's doing with immigration and manufacturing, he's bringing back to this country nearly $10 trillion in committed monies for manufacturing, including in the auto industry.
He's ending indoctrination in our schools, eliminating wokeness, ending waste, fraud, abuse, corruption.
And he said yesterday, it's common sense, which, by the way, is not so common.
And he wants the next generation of weaponry, including an iron dome.
If that's accomplished, that would go down probably as his greatest legacy.
He wants lower taxes.
He wants the tax cuts permanent, no tax on tips, social security, or overtime.
He's pushing hard for low interest rates, a strong military, gas and energy.
What do the Democrats stand for today?
Paddles?
Bingo paddles?
They stand for the rights of illegal immigrants and championing the rights of men to play women's sports.
And they think that is wrong and a crisis if we cut out waste, fraud, and abuse.
It's insane.
They've lost their soul.
They lost their way.
As the president said last night, they lost their confidence.
I think they are so far gone, I don't know how they recover.
I really don't.
And I don't see anybody emerging that I think is outside of that box that the Democratic Party now finds itself in, which is the radical box.
I think the most powerful thing the president said in Michigan last night is, you know, we're standing up for Main Street against Wall Street, protecting the middle class, not the political class.
And over time, we'll see that.
But this is how Democrats and the corrupt state-run media mob reacted.
Let me tell you, we have a thug in charge of the United States.
And if we don't wake up, we may not have a United States.
I don't swear in public any long, but we have Trump.
Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
And what Grant said is there are but two parties in America right now: patriots and traitors.
This isn't hyperbole to say that we are staring the death of democracy in the eyes right now.
I've had nothing to do with this.
Are you supportive of these onesies?
I'm supportive of vaccines.
Are you supportive of this clothing?
Donald Trump and his co-president Elon Musk and their enablers in Congress and the courts are working overtime to strip away our rights.
When is it going to be enough?
My voice is inadequate.
My efforts today are inadequate to stop what they're trying to do.
You get your musty hands off of our money.
I'll get a mouse count.
You muster, move, move, moon.
I mean, well, we're either patriots or traitors.
They consider themselves the patriots here.
Look, this 100 days of Trump have been nothing short of historic.
One of the things you've got to understand and maybe appreciate throughout the next three and three-quarter years that we have left with Donald Trump here is you're not going to see any, or three and two-thirds, whatever the number is, years that we have left with him, assuming he stays healthy, assuming that, you know, there's not another would-be assassin out there, God forbid.
I mean, there's been so much violent rhetoric.
It's absolutely chilling.
But let me tell you, this is not a president you will see often in the course of history.
This is a president that is as bold as anybody that I've ever seen.
The most influential, consequential, even Atlantic Magazine had a pretty good line about it that we've seen in our lifetime.
And what you are witnessing are big items that he's taking on and also trying to fulfill promises that he made on the campaign trail.
The most success we can measure at this point is on the border.
And, you know, we can list his accomplishments, and we'll go through many of them again today.
But, you know, the problem is, is you have a state-run legacy media mob that is obsessed, addicted to, and it has resulted in their demise in the end, hating this man.
It's 24-7 nonstop hate, rage, peddling conspiracy theories and lies about him.
And, you know, the president slashed a record number of regulations.
He will make the tax cuts for the middle class in this country permanent.
He's helping American working Americans out with no tax on tips or overtime.
That makes a big deal in people's lives.
He's also declared a national energy emergency, which has allowed the immediate production of more energy, including offshore shore drilling in the Gulf of America that started yesterday.
They celebrated the first production of this new venture.
It's just off the coast of Louisiana, Mississippi.
He has pulled the U.S. from the job-killing Paris Accords, the Paris Accords that classify India and China as developing nations, and we pay the bulk of the cost, and they're by far the biggest polluters.
The president now, I think, is paved the way for America to get rich with energy by ending Biden's liquefied natural gas export ban.
Now the cost of energy is already down all across the country.
And I'm seeing places in the country now that under two bucks a gallon.
And in my free state of Florida, it's around $270 a gallon, which is a lot lower than it used to be.
And, you know, Doge has saved as of now $160 billion, and they're still counting.
Not to mention 26 hostages that have been brought home.
Not to mention that he is not going to sit back and allow terrorists to control the, you know, the oceans of the world and disrupt trade in the world.
And that's why he's gone after the Houthi rebels, also for what they've been doing with Israel.
Iran is now facing a moment of truth, and he's giving them an out, but that out is going to be firm.
And that probably will mean the dismantling of their nuclear capabilities and also American inspectors anywhere, anyplace, anytime.
Or they probably won't have nuclear facilities or refineries to make money.
And that's going to be on them.
But the world can't risk a nuclear-armed Iran.
Now, yes, the president, it's a little painful to go through a disruption or a change, but the choice to me is very clear.
Either you allow what has existed for the last 50 or 60 years, and that is countries to rip us off and abuse us and put tariffs on our products and hurt our manufacturing and hurt our farmers and hurt our cattle people and ranchers, or you just stand up to these countries.
They all appear to be willing to make a deal.
That's going to take time.
And the sooner these deals come through, I think the better it's going to be for the global economy.
The president is holding China accountable.
I mean, the amount of tariffs they put on American products, it hurts American businesses.
And meanwhile, their businesses are allowed to flourish here in this country.
And we can go on and on and on.
You know, then you talk about the border.
I mean, border encounters are down by nearly, what, 95%.
Encounters with gotaways down 95%.
Migrant crossings down nearly 100%.
We went from 160,000 ICE encounters a month under Biden to around 7,000 under Trump, almost zero released into the country.
And the deportation numbers are growing.
Over 65,000 illegal immigrants in Trump's first 100 days, and they arrested another 66,000, most of which have criminal charges for convictions, 500 for murder, 1,300 for sex offenses, 2,300 gang members.
And these are dangerous offenders, but they have champions.
They have the whole Democratic Party establishment.
Although there is a report out today that Hakeem Jeffries is telling them, maybe we want to stop standing up for a rego or whatever his name is, Garcia.
Maybe this Brego Garcia is not our top priority.
There's a report in the New Republic that Jeffries was asked about the trips to El Salvador by Chris Van Holland and four House Democrats.
And Jeffries avoided the question saying, our reaction to the trips is that Donald Trump has the lowest approval rating of any president in modern American history.
Now, first of all, I don't buy any of these, the mainstream media polls that were off by 10 points or 7 or 8 points during this past election cycle.
And those are the polls they're citing.
They're not citing the polls that were actually correct, like McLaughlin and Rasmussen.
I know that Trafalgar and Insider Advantage are in the field now, so we'll get a good handle on that in the days to come.
And the Democrats have been polling consistently in the 20s.
Chuck Schumer's at 17%.
They're going to lecture anybody about polls, but, you know, Jeffrey's disdain towards Democratic trips to El Salvador, corroborated by two sources.
So apparently they're realizing a Brego Garcia may not be their best political strategy.
Anyway, 800-941-Shawn is on number.
Hey there, I'm Mary Catherine Hamm.
And I'm Carol Markowitz.
We've been in political media for a long time.
Long enough to know that it's gotten, well, a little insane.
That's why we started Normally, a podcast for people who are over the hysteria and just want clarity.
We talk about the issues that actually matter to the country without panic, without yelling, and with a healthy dose of humor.
We don't take ourselves too seriously, but we do take the truth seriously.
So if you're into common sense, sanity, and some occasional sass, you're our kind of people.

What I told people I was making a podcast about Benghazi, nine times out of ten, they called me a masochist, rolled their eyes, or just asked, why?
Benghazi, the truth became a web of lies.
It's almost a dirty word, one that connotes conspiracy theory.
Will we ever get the truth about the Benghazi massacre?
Bad faith, political warfare, and, frankly, bullshit.
We kill the ambassador just to cover something up.
You put two and two together.
Was it an overblown distraction or a sinister conspiracy?
Benghazi is a Rosetta Stone for everything that's been going on for the last 20 years.
I'm Leon Nayfok from Prologue Projects and Pushkin Industries.
This is Fiasco Benghazi.
What difference at this point does it make?
Yes, that's right.
Lock her up.
Listen to Fiasco, Benghazi, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I don't know if I feel sorry for Gretchen Whitmer or it's just she's just pathetic.
I mean, the thing about Whitmer is, you know, remember when she showed up at the White House and didn't want her photo taken and put something over her face?
And, you know, anyway, so the president goes to Michigan yesterday.
One of the main reasons he went there and the main reasons that Gretchen Whitmer went to see him was to keep open an airbase there.
And as a matter of fact, the president unveiled new plans when he stopped at Selfridge National Guard Base in Michigan and announced plans to swap out the retiring A-10 Warthog aircraft for the brand new F-15EX Eagle II fighter jets, which is a great announcement and a great benefit for the state of Michigan.
And then Gretchen Whitmer got called up and now is risking being, you know, called out by Democrats and ostracized by Democrats.
Now, what I don't understand in all of this is there's something very bizarre going on here.
Because if you really think about it, all she did was advocate for her state.
Michigan desperately needs, Michigan more than any other state, got hit when auto manufacturing moved overseas.
I mean, Detroit fully lost half their population, half of it.
They were bulldozing entire neighborhoods after they tried to sell them on eBay for a dollar just to get the tax burden off their back.
They had to consolidate services, bulldozing entire neighborhoods because the population loss was that severe.
America's once great cities was in significant decline.
Now there's a chance that they might be able to bring back a lot of this manufacturing thanks to President Trump.
You would think that Whitmer would be happy.
You would think that Whitmer wouldn't be pounded for this.
And, okay, she's there because she wanted this airbase saved, this guard base saved.
And Democrats refused to be in the same room with Donald Trump.
And she's in the same room with Donald Trump and then hides her face.
And I think she had an opportunity to kind of educate Democrats that you're better off working with President Trump than fighting against him.
And he actually did the wrong thing.
And that is, you know, there's a headline on AP News.
Whitmer risks the backlash from Democrats as she embraces Trump in Michigan.
What was she supposed to not be there?
It's pretty unbelievable.
Now, if you listen to the media, they have one narrative about what's going on in 100 days.
And they don't want to.
And the Democrats have their scorecard, and it says it all when they keep showing up with the 20% approval rating.
The American people have had it.
And the president signed 142 executive orders in 142 days.
Inflation at a manageable 2.4%.
And, you know, at its peak was 9.1% under Biden.
Illegal border crossings, which in December or a year and a half ago was what, 249,000, now down to 7,181.
In the first 100 days, border crossers allowed to stay in the U.S., there were only nine, mostly for medical reasons.
On the tariff issue, it's too early to tell, for sure.
And the president is moving at the speed of light on energy.
He's made the country more safe and secure.
I mean, it's really on every single issue.
He's laid the foundation for great success.
The quickest and most obvious is illegal immigration.
He secured the border, and now he's removing criminal illegal immigrants in the country.
On the economy, definitely, you know, you get an incomplete.
We're still living with the Biden-Harris economy.
And I'm going to get into some of these numbers here in a second, but you can't blame him.
I mean, the choice was either you go along with the policies of being abused and taken advantage of by friend and foe alike with tariffs, or you challenge the system.
He has chosen the road less traveled, the harder route, and that is, you know what?
Let's fight for better trade deals with our friends and our allies.
And, okay, so let's see what happens.
The president on the economy, great article by Steve Moore in the New York Post today, he slashed all these regulations.
Biden's regulatory assault, it costs the economy an additional $20,000 per family over four years.
Trump's one in for 10-out deregulation rule is already saving families $2,000, an estimated savings of about $180 billion a year.
He's replacing welfare with work.
And as Steve Moore pointed out, that's economics 101.
You pay people not to work and then tax them for working.
You reduce output and increase unemployment.
And the labor force participation rate for March was just 62.7%, down from 66% 20 years ago.
Trump has already started to create new rules requiring able-bodied adults to get jobs.
He's deploying America's abundant resources, which frankly, you know, we've got hundreds and hundreds of years worth of natural gas, oil, and coal available, which can make us the richest country on earth.
Why do we talk about oil-rich countries all the time?
Eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse.
Well, Biden, he had $6 trillion in his spending spree, pushed government outlays to 40% of our GDP.
And meanwhile, Elon Musk has found already a whopping $160 billion in waste, fraud, and abuse, $350 billion in energy slush funds that can be returned to the Treasury.
I mean, this is real money that can be used to shore up Social Security and Medicare, et cetera.
You know, all successful issues.
I mean, the president helped free these hostages in Gaza.
He helped free 26 other Americans held unfairly around the world in the time he's been president.
And, you know, and he said that, as he said last night, he's just getting started.
Give the guy a little bit of time.
I mean, the walls of the event center were packed, you know, and the big message is jobs in America.
He's got, what, $8, $10 trillion committed to manufacturing in America and not overseas as a result of his tariff threat.
He never gets any credit for that.
I mean, it's pretty amazing to watch this.
But don't ever expect ever the left is ever going to give him credit for anything because they're not.
It's not in them to give him credit for anything.
Now, on the economy, we got a lot of news in today.
And if you listen to the mainstream media, the doom and gloom, even they had predicted that the sky would be falling.
And the GDP report this morning showed very slight negative economic growth, three-tenths of 1% in the first quarter, which had the Democratic media pretending that the economy is collapsing.
Well, it's anything but, especially when you look at the deeper into the numbers.
In fact, the Democrats and their experts were actually predicting, frankly, hoping for a much bigger decline based on the doom and gloom predictions from Jerome Powell's Federal Reserve.
But just last week, the Atlanta Fed was even telling us that the first quarter GDP would go off the cliff with a whopping 2.7% decline.
That would be a full nine times worse than today's actual number.
The GDP drop was actually supposed to be much worse.
In fact, many components of today's GDP, when you look deeper into the numbers, were unexpectedly strong.
Personal consumption came in at 1.21%.
That translate into an annualized personal consumption of 1.8%, which is much higher than what was expected.
Fixed investment jumped 1.34%, up from negative 0.2%, which is the highest since the second quarter of 2023.
Private inventory surged a whopping 2.25%.
Government spending, however, declined by a quarter of a percent, which is the biggest drop since Joe Biden started boosting spending to push GDP higher in 2022.
And finally, most importantly, net trade exports, less imports, delivered a whopping 4.83 hit to the final GDP number.
This was entirely the result of soaring imports into the country.
The government's Bureau of Economic Analysis confirmed it and said the decrease in real GDP in the first quarter primarily reflected in the increase in imports, which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP and a decrease in government spending.
These movements were partly offset by increases in investment, consumer spending, and exports.
You know, Barron's actually put out there that the U.S. economy, the underlying data shows trends under the hood that should dampen any fear of a recession.
One of the key areas of optimism is the fact that the consumer spending is up, posting a gain of 1.8% for the first quarter, despite these predictions of doom and gloom.
It seems that there's still a little correlation between how Americans feel and how they shop and spend.
Additionally, real final sales to private domestic purchasers, widely considered to be the engine of the economy, posted a decent gain of 3% in the first quarter, compared with an increase of 2.9% in the fourth quarter of last year.
And meanwhile, Wall Street Journal had a great piece chronicling the communist Chinese and their economy, which has started to crack under the pressure of Donald Trump's tariffs.
Wall Street Journal, China's economy showed up, showed its first big signs of damage from the trade war as steep U.S. tariffs pummeled export orders and production at the country's factories.
A gauge of new export orders fell in April to the lowest reading since COVID-19, which ravaged the country in 2022, while overall manufacturing activity in China was the weakest in more than a year, according to surveys published Wednesday by China's National Business Statistics Bureau of Statistics.
The sharp pullback shows that Donald Trump's tariffs on Chinese imports are starting to squeeze the engine room of China's economy, piling pressure on Beijing to boost its stimulus efforts to shore up growth.
It adds to pressure on President Qi to reach a deal with President Trump, though for now, a clear message from Beijing is one of resolute defiance in the teeth of what it is describing as U.S. bullying.
The people that have been doing the bullying would be the communist Chinese.
They put tariffs on pretty much everything, and that hurts our manufacturers.
That hurts our farmers.
That hurts our ranchers in this country.
And this is pretty basic and pretty fundamental stuff here.
By the way, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has vowed to yank funding for highway projects in states that give drivers' licenses to illegals.
That is the right play.
CBS wants to make a settlement offer to end Trump's $20 billion deceptive editing lawsuit.
The media hasn't had much to say about that lawsuit.
That's the one with Kamala Harris to help her win the election.
But according to the New York Times, Trump's case against CBS has gotten the network's parent company, Paramount, so worried that they've now come with a settlement figure that they hope will make the case go away.
I guess they'll settle.
I mean, if you compare Biden and Trump in their 100 days, there is no comparison at all.
You know, look at just the time that Donald Trump spends with the media.
Look at the time he spends with the American people.
Look at the amount of work that he produces on a daily basis, which makes it in many ways.
And this was in the Washington Examiner today, quote, President Trump at 100 days, the most consequential in American history.
This is the biggest, most disruptive shakeup to the swamp, the sewer, the institution of government that has been so needed for such a long period of time.
And that is a return to the simple principles of our framers and our founders grounded in limited government, greater freedom for you, the American people, and one that would restore constitutional order.
By the way, the Wisconsin High Court has suspended the judge accused of helping that man evade ICE.
Whoopsie-daisy.
Liberal justices control the court.
4-3, they ordered that the judge Dugan is temporarily prohibited from exercising the powers of the circuit court judge in the state of Wisconsin effective this date.
Yeah, judges have to obey laws too.
I know that sounds strange.
