We're still following our top story of the day, and that is the battle for the vote for Speaker of the House, one vote after another, as Kevin McCarthy has been unable to get to 218 as of this point.
Joining us now to talk about other things, but I want to get his thoughts on this as Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas, who by the way will talk about he did not attend Zelensky's speech.
He's frustrated with the amount of money we're sending to Ukraine.
And I'll talk to him about that in a second.
But what do you make about what's been going on all day in the House?
Well, uh good afternoon, Sean.
You know what?
I think there's a little family disagreement over there, and I expect to make it.
Is that what we call that?
A family disagreement?
That's what I would call it.
You know, there's two hundred and twenty-two Republicans over there.
They've all got an opinion.
Uh they're fighting for their for the people from their home state.
They've got a disagreement uh on who should be this next speaker of the house.
So I I but at the end of the day, Sean, we need to come together.
So I hope they get this accomplished, they figure this out so we can get on.
We've got a tough agenda ahead of us.
We need to fight back.
Joe Biden need starting tonight, so we need them to rally the troops and get this finished up.
I agree with that.
I'm not at the point where I could tell anybody with a straight face that I'm worried about this in any way.
However, it it is becoming a little bit of a clown show at this point.
Uh and in my opinion, and I told people, you know, for weeks now, uh, that they need to sit in a room, throw out their egos and their cell phones and come to an agreement.
Uh and they do have a backstop, which is the motion to vacate, which apparently McCarthy agreed to.
Right, Sean.
And and I think that's what we would all do.
Whether you've been on a church board or a school board, you reach one of these moments like this, you go behind uh closed doors and say, we need to figure this out.
We are a family.
At the end of the day, we share the same goals, and we can't let five people hold up moving uh moving on so we can start fighting against Joe Biden's agenda.
You know, just last week they came out with the waters of the U.S. rule that's gonna hurt my Kansas farmers even more.
So we need to get at it.
We need to get to work.
I think I know which bill you're referring to.
We can talk about that in a second.
Um, you did not attend the speech with President Zelensky.
Um what did they vote for this time on top of all the previous monies appropriated what for another 45 billion dollars?
Tell us why.
Yeah, so we've already given Ukraine 60 billion.
This is another 45 billion dollars.
Sean, I've been to the border three times, and I thought it would be disrespectful to go attend uh President Zelensky's rally, uh his political rally where we're gonna give him 45 billion dollars that we're turning back on those 20,000 border patrol officers that are trying to keep Americans safe.
Every day we're losing 300 Americans to fentanyl poisoning.
I just think we got our priorities backwards.
Uh my priority is always gonna be America first.
Um I'll say one more thing.
When you're getting ready to go vote to spend 45 billion dollars, um I don't think it should be an emotional decision.
And I think you go to a rally like that and we get a big rah-rah speech, and everyone goes out and says, Yes, we need to give them 45 billion dollars.
I'm a physician.
You don't want me walking into uh uh a delivery room.
I'm an obstetrician and tell the mom in an emotional state you need a C-section.
You want me calm, cool, collected with my facts, ready to go.
I just thought it was the wrong time, the wrong place, and the wrong decision.
Uh I don't disagree.
And here's my biggest problem.
Number one, Western Europe should be paying the bulk of money to protect their own backyards, and they're not, as usual.
It's the U.S. is that has been giving the most amount of money, munitions, help, assistance to Ukraine, uh, and our allies in Western Europe have not stepped up to the plate.
That angers me.
Does that anger you?
Yeah, absolutely.
So again, we've now pledged over a hundred billion dollars, the rest of the world less than half of that.
From my last count, we have over a hundred thousand American troops in that NATO theater and only 40,000 non-American troops uh supporting NATO right now.
So I I do.
I think Europe's sitting there and laughing at us.
When I first I went over there very early on to the Poland Ukraine border, I was on board with helping them, realizing that if Afghanistan had never happened, this wouldn't have happened.
But here we were, so I was willing to take the first step.
I we need to see Europe stepping up more.
I do that you're I do believe Europe is sitting there laughing at America saying, fine, let them pay, let's have their troops over there, let's let American blood be shed.
Uh, we need your uh Europe to step up even more.
Yeah, I gotta tell you, they really do, and they should have.
Here's my fear, and and I've gotten to the point in my life and my career that I feel like we don't fight wars to win them anymore.
Uh had the had Europe and the United States stepped up early against Vladimir Putin and Russia and this this invasion of a sovereign country, and they would have gone in there with the intention of destroying uh uh Putin and his army, they would have won the war by now and chased them out of there.
Now, maybe would we would maybe would we be talking about the use of tactical nukes because Vladimir Putin's a horrible evil actor that's been targeting civilians and infrastructure?
Maybe we would be.
But I don't see any any rationale at all in fighting a conflict or fighting a war if you don't feel like you're gonna win the war, you're not fighting it to win it.
Yeah, Sean, I I do feel like we're fighting it with one hand behind our back.
I'll even go back to sanctions.
The sanctions we pass we placed on Russian banks, only about 50% of them have been implemented so far.
So any type of Russian banking uh transaction that involves energy is not being sanctioned.
Uh so we're not doing everything we can.
Uh we knew months before that we needed to get weapons in there.
If we would have got fighter jets in there before it was invaded, I think it would have been a different outcome.
If Afghanistan hadn't happened, we would have never had this invasion.
But but here we are.
I have to warn you all everybody is that the world is looking at us.
China is looking at us.
We have to now project strength however we can, but but we need to always keep our priorities straight.
Again, everybody has limited resources, even the United States.
I believe we need to secure our own borders first, and then I'm willing to discuss more money for Ukraine.
What do you think of the hostilities, the geopolitical ambitions of China and what we've seen uh in and around the area of Taiwan in recent days, including confronting our own fighter jets?
Right.
Well, well, certainly I've I've I've been saying for several years now is that Russia wants to rule the world, China wants to own the world, North Korea wants to blow up the world.
So I I think that China's made it very clear that they want to be the dominant power.
Um and I'm gonna tell America we need to look in our mirror ourselves.
The solution here is a strong American economy, bringing our our uh manufacturing home, having clean affordable energy, all those types of things.
I'm very confident we can defeat China if we just take care of what we've got going on at home, quit rewarding them by when they use slave labor and when they're using dirty energy to manufacture cheap manufactured products that we take in.
So they you're you're right.
They absolutely want to rule the world and they want a big payback for this opium ward.
The fentanyl, you know, they're they're making ninety percent of the precursors there in China, and I take us back to that fact I mentioned earlier, 300 Americans dying every day from fentanyl poisoning.
Can you explain to my audience why the U.S. Senate Republicans went along with an omnibus instead of a continuing resolution?
Sean, I I can't.
And And that's just it.
Um I I think that they're gonna have to answer for that vote themselves.
I believe that they some people thought we could get an even worse deal if we didn't give Kevin McCarthy uh time to work at it.
But but this is why I voted against the bill.
I voted against it because it adds a trillion dollars to our national debt.
It didn't secure our border.
There was fifteen billion dollars of earmarks.
So no, I I cannot explain to your audience, but they need to be held accountable for it.
We appreciate you being with us, Senator Roger Marshall, great state of Kansas, sir.
Thank you for being on board.
You bet, Sean.
Thanks so much.
Have a great day and happy new year.
Happy New Year, sir.
800 941 Sean, our number.
Barbara Merrill and Sean Hannity Show.
Barbara, how are you?
Happy New Year.
Oh my gosh, Sean, I'm so happy I got through to you.
Happy New Year.
What's going on?
How are you today?
You hanging in there?
Is the drama getting to you?
I am hanging in there, and the electric bike is here.
Sean, Jamar is a little upset with me because he thinks I want to put an armored tank around him on this bike.
Well, so it goes 20 miles an hour, Sean.
It goes 20 miles an hour.
So are you mad at me for getting the gift?
Do you want me to take it back?
No.
Oh no, no, no, no, not mad if you at all.
As a matter of fact, I like I told him, I said, we might just have to we might need to leave, go someplace where he can get on a track where I can watch him.
And I told him, I said, you're not going to believe it.
I told him, I said, Well, uh, we'll let you get on it, you can get on it, and I'll drive the truck.
If you need well, first of all, make sure he wears a helmet, number one.
Number two, if he needs help in the beginning, get somebody, go to your local motorcycle shop or go to the store where we got it, and let somebody teach him how to use it safely before you let him use it.
That's my advice.
If not, I'll take it back and get you something else.
I am definitely going to do that because right now the 10-year-old Corey, he's ready to jump on it.
He I took a picture and I'm gonna send it to you.
I'm gonna send it to Linda in the email.
Corey's like ready to jump on it.
Like, man, let me on it, let me on.
And I'm like, oh my gosh.
Oh and it's just so beautiful.
I love you.
I thank you so much.
I thank you so much.
Well, I'm very happy.
What do you think of the Adam Schiff show going on today in the clown show?
Oh, and what a shift show.
The picture that I'm going to send you is going to have the three stooges as a backdrop.
That is uh I'm going to send it, and it's got Adam Schiff, uh, Nancy Pelosi, and um the fat guy, the penguin.
Uh my gosh.
And we took that picture, we took that picture, and I'm gonna send that to you.
But you know, I just like to say that you know, I like Kevin McCarthy.
He's a nice guy.
But I saw what happened here in Maryland.
Nice guys finish last.
Sometimes you gotta fight.
You gotta fight.
You have to get rid of him if he pulls a Paul Ryan.
I'll go along with that.
Because they're right.
They they already have the motion to vacate that deal is done.
So they can get rid of him at any point.
If he does if it look, he should they shouldn't get rid of him for superfluous or or friv frivolous reasons.
It's gotta be some real reason to get rid of the guy.
Um, but to me, he seems exactly in line with where we as conservatives want him to be.
Now, if he deviates from that line, it's a very simple process.
That's the motion to vacate.
As a matter of fact, it may probably agree to too much in that deal because any five congressmen can get rid of them at any time.
What's that?
How quickly?
How quickly can we get rid of him if he doesn't do it?
Any any five as I understand it, or six uh congressmen can get rid of him, can bring a vote, a motion to vacate the chair, meaning that you know, have another vote for speaker if they're not happy with him.
Okay, well, I you know So there's a safety valve built into this.
Well, okay, well, you know, I I'll rest a little bit easier, but could you just tell me this?
Why didn't Kevin McCarthy push to have in that one point nine or seven trillion, whatever that thing that they just pitch through with Mitch McConnell doing, with the help of Republicans?
Why didn't they go for border security?
Why are they letting our borders being overrun with illegals that are going to be counted in the Congress?
But look, but listen to what McCarthy's been saying.
He's he they're going to at least pass and fund the border wall.
Can they get anything done having only one house of Congress?
I was very clear before the election.
They cannot.
However, they can lay out the distinctions and differences so that voters can compare and contrast.
This is what the Socialist Democratic Party looks like, and this is what we'd be doing if we were in power.

Back to our busy phones.
Don in Iowa, what's up?
Big Don in Iowa.
How are you, sir?
Happy New Year.
Hi, Sean.
Hi, John.
Happy New Year, and I hope your Christmas is a good one.
Thanks for taking my call.
Thank you.
Um yeah, I just called in for the same reason that I think everybody's going to be talking today about this debacle that's going on in the Congress right now.
Uh, how we finally get the reins of power and everybody's all talking hopeful, and we can't even uh consolidate to get behind uh the opposition.
The Democrats will oppose uh Jesus in unison.
They they will lockstep whatever Nancy Pelosi tells them.
That's what they will go ahead and unify behind, and we can't even get behind unifying to take control of Congress.
It's a disgrace.
Uh, it should be done quickly, and it won't be.
We only have about uh 45 seconds.
We'll give it to Joe and LJ.
Joe, what do you think?
John, I think we need to fire McConnell and McCarthy.
McConnelly's bringing Biden down to Kentucky.
What an insult to every conservative in America.
He's been there in Washington forever.
We need to fire him and McCarthy.
I just don't have much.
I agree with the other callers.
I think McCarthy's been there too long.
Sean, we gotta have new blood.
We need no new fired up leaders to to put the taxpayers first and he's laid out the agenda.
I'm looking at the agenda.
The agenda is the commitments to America.
The agenda is the investigations into abuse of power, uh, the FBI, the DOJ.
The agenda is investigating Joe Biden.
The agenda is looking at the debacle of Afghanistan, the origins of COVID.
He's agreed to all of that, and you have the safety valve to get rid of him.
So what's the problem?
Well, I just think we need new leadership.
I think we know you can't.
Well, who would you who would you like to who would you like to be speaker?
Who would you like?
Jim Jordan.
I've taught I've I talked to Jim Jordan at least four times over the holiday.
Not one time does he have any interest.
He said he would not accept it.
As a matter of fact, Jim Jordan was the one that nominated McCarthy today.
Uh anyway, Joe, we appreciate you.
You're a good man.
God bless you.
Happy New Year, my friend.
All right, 25 to the top of the hour.
We'll get back to our top story.
The battle for speaker in the House of Representatives, the uh Adam Schiff show that's been going on most of the day.
Uh I know a lot of people still talking about, worried about, concerned about what happened to Damar Hamlin last night as he suffered cardiac arrest after g being hit in a game last night and and then that they called the game uh nine minutes on the field receiving CPR.
Then they brought in the the the paddles to to actually get his heart beating again.
Uh he's been intubated he's in a local hospital he's in critical condition.
Uh here's Joe Buck discussing the timeline of this fell at eight fifty five oh three was on his back and then went from wondering what was going on to wondering about head injury to then frantically administering CPR to this 24 year old safety.
And this is a Bills team you during the break we watched Sean McDermott call his team over and say we're going to say a prayer.
We're going to say a prayer for tomorrow.
It was a pretty unbelievable moment.
They didn't finish the game I think it was the right call.
Jake Piquette is with us Army school uh graduate Ranger school graduate member of the 100 and first airborne he played defensive end for the New England Patriots when Tom Brady was there in 2014 in the Super Bowl he was injured but not on the field.
You saw that hit last night Jake it was it seemed like an average hit.
He gets up he walks he falls down and then we find out you know they're administering CPR for nine straight minutes.
Yeah I mean that was a a terrifying situation.
You know I I come from a football family my grandpa, dad and uncle all played college and professional football before me.
I played college football at the University of Arkansas and then four years in the NFL.
I'd never seen anything like that clip that I saw from last night.
It was horrifying.
And I joined millions of Americans, you know, joining in prayer, you know, for his health and healing.
But in the midst of that tragic circumstance last night, I believe there's also some inspirational scenes to be had.
I mean, I was really struck to see both of those teams knelt down on their knees in prayer, praying for their fallen teammate, their fallen playing competitor.
You know, it was amazing to see Cincinnati Bengals fans who were outside of the hospital there in Cincinnati.
I'm sure you saw over a million dollars were raised for his charity, that toy drive.
I think $4,000 or $5,000 had been raised previously.
Now it's well over a million dollars.
You know, in this divisive crossroads we find ourselves in in this country, you know, sports still can be a unifying thread for us.
And, you know, in the midst of that tragedy last night, you know, I took some inspiration to see how sports, you know, time and again, can bring Americans together.
It really was an unbelievable, striking moment.
You know, I've always said I think mixing politics and sports is such a bad idea because you take what is a unifying moment.
You take people of all races, all colors, all backgrounds, all religions, all, you know, economic, you know, whatever socioeconomic status they are at, doesn't matter.
At a football game, baseball game, whatever the game is, you have everybody there that shares a passion for that game.
Everybody there usually is cheering for their home team to win.
You have strangers high-fiving each other, buying each other beers and meeting new people.
And that's why I thought it was the worst moment when Kaepernick made a big deal about kneeling and then it divides the entire, you know, stadium audience.
And, you know, it took years to recover from that.
And then last night we saw the best.
best in not only the players, but the best in the audience and the best of everybody.
You know, I saw, you know, these big football players crying their eyes out because they were afraid, you know, that the worst may occur here.
Well, you're exactly right.
And I've been very outspoken speaking out against how the hard left has tried to wokey sport at every level.
I mean, I I think they see sport and the military in particular as kind of the last two bastions of American culture that they have yet to conquer as they've conquered so many of our other institutions.
Um but you know, you're you're exactly right.
I mean, sport at its best represents America at its best.
I mean, we as Americans, we love to see competitive greatness.
We appreciate meritocracy, we appreciate you know, people who come from different backgrounds, as you said, different races coming together uh to strive hard to work hard, uh, to move the needle together in a team effort.
Um that was inspiring.
I mean, you know, when I was the Patriots, um, you know, the coaches used to say, you know, hey, for better or for worse, we're modern day gladiators and you know, professional football players, they understand the risks, you know, of what it means to go out there and play the game at the highest level.
I mean, professional football players are well compensated uh for the risks they take, and they're want to feel sorry for them.
Um but you know, every time you you know you go between those white lines on any given Sunday or or Monday night in this case, um, you know, you're putting yourself on the line.
And I I think as a as a former player who's played at the highest level, you know, you just want to see all you know, all twenty-two guys every play get up.
And um, you know, I think that's why um, you know, th those coaches, I I want to give a big shout out to the two head coaches who made I I think a a very courageous and tremendous bold decision uh to postpone that game.
I mean, obviously the league and those referees, you know, the broadcast team, everyone was kind of confused about what to do, but you know, th those two men, those head coaches stood up and did what was in the best interest of their two teams because you know, football is a dangerous game, you know, and it's you know, uh in the best of circumstances, but um, you know, you know, you can only imagine what those what those players uh, you know, what their their state of mind was like, you know, after seeing their brother collapse in the field, so um, you know, them playing distracted, it could have been dangerous for other guys.
So, you know, despite it being a playoff hunt and those being two really good teams, uh, you know, trying to put their best foot forward going into the playoffs.
Um I really want to commend those two head coaches for making uh a really bold and and and tough decision to postpone the game.
Yeah, I agree completely, Jake.
We really appreciate your call.
Thank you for your service.
And uh by the way, how great is it to play in a Super Bowl game?
I bet it was amazing.
Yeah, it's pretty incredible.
Um, you know, it was just an absolute blessing to be around some of the all-time greats, Tom Brady, Bill Belichick.
You know, I like to joke that, you know, I I won that Super Bowl single-handedly, you know, they didn't have anything to do with it.
Um, you know, it was uh he was just a tremendous blessing to be a part of that amazing time.
Yeah, definitely.
You played with one of the what, the GOAT, uh Tom Brady, you know, last two weekends in a row, he's down in the fourth quarter by double digits and he comes back both times.
Pretty amazing.
He's a machine.
He's a legend.
Really is.
Uh appreciate it, my friend.
God bless you.
Uh to Oh, Linda, did you hear about this?
I meant to bring this up earlier.
Uh we have not spoken a lot about this North Carolina announcer, Gary Hahn.
Did you hear about this guy?
Suspended?
Okay.
He's a North Carolina State radio broadcaster.
His name is Gary Hahn, suspended indefinitely because he made a reference to illegal aliens in Texas on Friday night.
Now, by the way, as we speak, Texas has already now deported 16,000 people to sanctuary cities and states, which by the way, is is pretty much the only thing they can do.
They're they're now building their own barriers because the federal government is aiding and abetting in the law breaking.
Anyway, so while calling the Wolfpack 16 to 12 loss against Maryland uh in the Mail Bowl on Friday, he updated his listeners about the Sun Bowl, which is also taking place at the same time by saying down among uh all the illegal aliens in El Paso, it's UCLA 14 and Pittsburgh six.
And he's it's suspended indefinitely for that.
So you can't even say illegal immigrant anymore.
Is that now illegal?
I'm telling you right now, this whole controlling of free speech and what we can and can't say.
And the funny thing is, and I say this all the time, and today is no exception as we're looking at the mess that is the Republican Party on the House floor.
You know, When we look at how inept we are and how we eat our own, you know, we need to rise up against this sort of control and this sort of oppression.
The fact that somebody can't say something like that, the stuff that I hear people say on the radio every day, the way that they defame, demoralized, slandered.
I mean, it is unreal.
This guy is talking about a real situation.
If you're an African American conservative, it's fair game.
You can be called any every name in the I'm gonna push back a little bit on that and say if you're just anything other than a liberal, it's insane at this point.
Yeah, that's pretty true.
It's really sick, man.
Time magazine published an article on exercise being racist.
You can't make this up.
New York Post ran this article.
Anyway, the headline was uh Wednesday of last week, based on a chat with a history professor whose lessons at New York's the news school often focuses on black lives uh matter protesting.
And in the interview, the self-described scholar, writer, teacher, activist, insisted that that being, quote, his words, not mine, fat, used used to be desirable, and the push to work out in the 20th century was racism at work.
The idea that women should be lifting weights and gaining strength started because racist thought that white women should start building up strength because we need more white babies, she claimed.
This is totally part of a white supremacy project.
I I I just read this and I said, Really?
Do you do you really believe this?
Or do you kind of make this up?
I think they make it up for attention.
I mean, I really do.
We pay, you know, you have these shows, you know, that are so interested in the drama and the nastiness.
You know, over the holidays, I watched, you know, the kind of things that different networks covered.
And to me, it's very telling, right?
The things that they glorified, the things that they said were okay, the things that they said were horrible, and it was without fail, straight down the middle, partisan line on the networks, you know, patriotism, faith, family God, you know, the one time of the year that you'll hear people singing about the birth of Christ, you know, in a target, right?
I mean, it's just like people don't even realize that they're singing these things.
And then this at the same time, you know, you're watching MBC and ABC, and they're talking about how it's so great that we've stepped away from the traditional family values, and you know, it's time for us to embrace the new and forget the old and the nuclear family is a dated and outdated idea.
What?
What are you talking about?
Leave the kids in the family unit alone.
We got enough problems, right?
That's the one area of our country where we fail.
We don't take care of each other, and that's our biggest freaking problem.
In other news, we now know the Times Square Jihadi.
Now, one of the things I'm worried about the most beyond fentanyl heroin crossing into our country, you know, there's an article actually every article I see, uh, it's telling me how bad things are getting in terms of the drug epidemic in this country.
And it's getting worse than ever.
Uh anyway, so this um, you know, we we have this story about this jihadi guy.
One of the things I've been fearing the most on top of the fentanyl and the drug and human trafficking is the fact that we're going to have all of these terrorists building cells across this country.
Now we saw on New Year's Eve in Times Square, you have a jihadi, a guy that wants to be a jihadi, a guy that, you know, wanted to be part of the the Taliban.
I mean, a total complete lunatic and you know, cop slasher, but this is what he wanted.
Anyway, it turns out that he was 19, uh, from Maine, accused of slashing two New York City cops, you know, with a machete.
He wrote a manifesto in which he told family members to repent to Allah and a message to his brother who was in the army.
He said, You've joined the ranks of the enemy, and for that I can give you no kind words.
The attack happened around 10 PM, just before midnight, uh in Times Square, New Year's Eve.
Two officers, including a rookie cop were injured in the attack.
I mean, an Islamic extremist.
Now, where is he getting all this information from?
All the talk about, oh, there might be disinformation in the 20 uh 20 election and and weekly meetings with the FBI and big social Media groups and paying Twitter all of this money, three and a half million dollars.
Uh, maybe the FBI should have been looking into not only the hundred people that they caught that were on the terror watch list that crossed our border that we caught last year, uh, but also maybe they ought to be looking for the people that may have gotten through.
It's pretty unbelievable.
We have not spoken also about the arrest of this uh Idaho alleged murderer, this guy Brian Kobergers his name.
He spent his apparently his days ranting and singing lyrics from violent rap songs inside a Pennsylvania jail where he's being held.
Uh was actually pulled over twice when driving across the coast uh in Indiana.
Uh now the one inmate had revealed exclusively to the Daily Mail that he's taunting guards saying that he was they were too scared to go into a cell.
I'll cut them, I'll cut you, who's you know, held in this jail.
Come in here and I'll cut you.
So obviously, this guy's a lunatic.
Uh it's sad.
