Here's a preview of the new one.
I feel like, you know, like the endless liberal centrist delusion or fairy tale or pipe dream, that if we could just, if there must be some sort of magic formula, we just find the right thing to say to the Trumpists, MAGA people, whatever, just find the right argument, the right combination of words, the right magic spell.
They'll suddenly all go, My God, you're right!
I get it now!
Maybe there's one that might work, right?
We show them the coronation of Prince Charles.
King Charles, I suppose.
And we say, you see all that?
See that there?
All that stuff?
If your guy gets what he wants, that is going to be happening here, and it's going to be Don Jr.
Is that really what you want?
Is that what you want?
That might work.
I genuinely think that might work.
Yeah, yeah.
Prince Charles is Prince Charles and it hasn't shaken us awake, so who the fuck knows?
I don't know, I feel a Republican, lowercase r, Republican.
Your country's Republican, not my country's Republican.
But I think the Republicans... The irony is the Republicans in America are the ones that want an absolute monarchy.
Anyway, sorry, go ahead.
Yeah, no, yeah, no, no, they absolutely do.
I mean, it is, you know, you did see, I mean, we talked about this in the previous, you know, episode where we talked about this, but I don't know.
I just find the whole thing very amusing, and I find, like, the way that the gerontocracy is just Invigorating itself regardless like you can't have a 45 year old leader like you just can't anymore It's just it just doesn't happen.
And I think this is something I mean, this is something, you know again not to like believe that electoral politics is the whole of politics or anything like that because I think there are like really useful things being done by people in their 20s and 30s and 40s, but within like
The realm of electoral politics, I think a lot of what like people dislike about the squad, for instance, and not to think that the squad is like, you know, the be all and end all of all politics, but is that they're young, is that they're not, they haven't paid their dues and spent 40 years like being drugged down by the system.
You know what I mean?
I still have hope, and I don't like that.
It's very much that thing, and I see so many of the Democrat boosters, because there are very real problems with the Democratic Party, and I can believe that and say, I will absolutely vote for every Democratic candidate that pops up on my radar, because I live in a swing state, And I have no other choice.
There's just, it's just like, you just, I will do my, I will do my due diligence.
I will go vote for the Democrat.
But like, that can't be the end all and be all of your politics.
And you know, the people who are like, you know, this sort of like centrist, progressive, liberal wing or whatever, you know, these The Democrat boosters, you know, the idea that like, well, all you have to do is just keep voting for Democrats.
You need to donate to the Democrats and like never ever criticize them.
And it's like, well, if you don't criticize them, they're not going to get any better.
And they're pretty fucking bad.
Oh, but the Republicans are worse.
Yeah.
Well, yeah, no shit.
You know, like can we have, can we have, can we have an adult conversation now?
We'll all stipulate, I hope, that the Republicans are bad.
Even if it's just by a sliver, if it's by an onion skin, we'll stipulate, most of us anyway, we'll stipulate to that.
That's the beginning of the conversation.
Right, exactly, exactly.
Yeah, so I guess this is probably the moment we should I don't know, I find the Tucker Carlson thing, I find him getting fired without knowing he was getting fired, like just after the Dominion lawsuit, and sort of the
The process of that and, you know, the way it's sort of being talked up and the way that, like, Fox News's ratings went down by like 10% like the day after it got aired.
Yeah.
I mean, this has been a big thing.
And I don't know.
I must have known that was going to happen.
You know, they took the decision knowing that would happen.
It's hard to know because we're not seeing all the behind the scenes pieces like there was a like the leaked text message that came out in which you know Tucker Carlson was talking about like I was watching and this is like It was texting one of his producers, right?
And he was saying, uh, and this came out as part of the Dominion lawsuit.
So the full texts have not been released, but this like one was released by Fox's public creation relations team.
And we'll get back to that in a minute.
But you know, um, the text message is something like, you know, I was watching a bunch of proud boys like beat up on an Antifa and it was like three on one.
That's not how white men fight.
And then he kind of goes on to go, and then I felt sorry for this guy, for this Antifa, who is probably a piece of shit.
I'm paraphrasing here.
He's definitely a piece of shit.
But you know, maybe if I got to know him, then I'd see him as a human being.
And I felt bad about that.
And we shouldn't be encouraging that.
And it's like, This is not the worst thing that Tucker Carlson has ever texted.
Even saying the words, that's not how white men fight, just completely unprompted, that reveals a lot.
That's deeply fucked up.
If you're saying that to your producer, I want to know which producer he's texting it to.
Really what I want to know is what he's texting to his writers.
To the people who are editing his...
Because we know we had like overt white nationalists like writing for him in the past who got fired once their like history came out.
I want to know the text between those two people.
Like that's what I want to see is like exactly like what the messaging was like and how all of his like intro segments get crafted you know.
But I don't think he was fired because he said you know that's not how a white man fights and I don't even think it was really about the Dominion lawsuit.
I think that it was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back.
He was He was too much of a liability and they shit-canned him.
