Episode 23: Andrew Anglin and The Daily Stormer

This episode, Daniel tells Jack about Andrew Anglin and The Daily Stormer.  Big content warnings for this one. Cantwell News: "As co-defendants fight discovery, Cantwell threatens lawyer," The Daily Progress. https://www.dailyprogress.com/news/local/as-co-defendants-fight-discovery-cantwell-threatens-lawyer/article_619851ce-8ad9-599b-88fa-6f289e90d400.html "On June 18 Cantwell posted an article about Roberta Kaplan, the lead lawyer on the case, to the messaging site Telegram, which is frequented by extremists. “After this stupid kike whore loses this fraudulent lawsuit, we’re going to have a lot of fucking fun with her,” Cantwell wrote. The threat was mentioned during a telephonic hearing Tuesday in federal court in Charlottesville, where lawyers discussed the snail’s pace of the discovery process in the lawsuit that alleges organizers and key participants in the Aug. 12, 2017, white supremacist rally planned and promoted violence against protected groups. Cantwell has posted derogatory statements about Kaplan before, the plaintiffs’ lawyers wrote in a motion filed Tuesday, but his recent statement is a “thinly-veiled threat” that impairs the lawyers’ ability to carry out their work. The lawyers asked the court to enjoin Cantwell to refrain from any future threats. Cantwell already has been found guilty of assaulting and pepper-spraying activists on Aug. 11, 2017, and of violating conditions of his bond. He remains a defendant in another civil suit filed by people injured during the Unite the Right rally. On Tuesday afternoon, shortly after news stories about the motion were published, Cantwell posted about Kaplan again on Telegram, calling Kaplan a “lying piece of Jewish filth."   Show Notes: The Daily Stormer: https://dailystormer.name The Daily Stormer Style Guide: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/daily-stormer-nazi-style-guide_n_5a2ece19e4b0ce3b344492f2 "We are writing for the common man, so the language should be very simple, using a standard 8th grade vocabulary. The use of "college words" is extremely discouraged. The only situation in which an uncommon word should be used in when it is unavoidable, such as when it is needed to describe something technical, or a situation or phenomenon that is so specific that it requires a unique description." [...] "As a rule, every post should be filled with as much visual stimulation as possible. Pages should look exciting and appeal to the ADHD culture. This can't really be overdone. These include: •Straight images (pictures of persons, places, events) •Meme images (that you make yourself or find on other sites - fresh memes are best but old memes are good too) •Funny gifs •Twitter embeds •YouTube videos (or other video from other sites if necessary, following the above mentioned embed protocol)." [...] "Profanity should be used sparingly. An overuse of profanity can come across as goofy. "Nigger" is okay to use sometimes, but shouldn't be used constantly. The following racial slurs are allowed and advisable: •Negro/Negroid •Monkey •Ape •Spic •Wetback •Beaner •Beanperson •Kike •Yid •Sheeny •Christ-killer •Haji •Sandperson •Paki (can be used for non-Pakistani Moslems, especially Arabs, because that's funny) •Muzzie •Chink •Gook •Zipperhead And others The following are not allowed: •Shitskin •Latrino •(Any others relating to poop) •Mud (I just don't really like this term, it seems too much like SF boomer talk) While racial slurs are allowed/recommended, not every reference to non-white should not be a slur and their use should be based on the tone of the article. Generally, when using racial slurs, it should come across as half-joking - like a racist joke that everyone laughs at because it's true. This follows the generally light tone of the site." [...] "Prime Directive: Always Blame the Jews for Everything As Hitler says, people will become confused and disheartened if they feel there are multiple enemies. As such, all enemies should be combined into one enemy, which is the Jews. This is pretty much objectively true anyway, but we want to leave out any and all nuance. So no blaming Enlightenment thought, pathological altruism, technology/urbanization, etc. - just blame Jews for everything. This basically includes blaming Jews for the behavior of other nonwhites. Of course it should not be that they are innocent, but the message should always be that if we didn't have the Jews, we could figure out how to deal with nonwhites very easily. The same deal with women. Women should be attacked, but there should always be mention that if it wasn't for the Jews, they would be acting normally. What should be completely avoided is the sometimes mentioned idea that "even if we got rid of the Jews we would still have all these other problems." The Jews should always be the beginning and the end of every problem, from poverty to poor family dynamics to war to the destruction of the rainforest." [...] "Violence It's illegal to promote violence on the Internet. At the same time, it's totally important to normalize the acceptance of violence as an eventuality/inevitability. I'm extremely careful about never suggesting violence. I go beyond legal requirements in America. However, whenever someone does something violent, it should be made light of, laughed at. For example, Anders Breivik should be forever referred to as a heroic freedom fighter. This is great because people think you must be joking. But there is a part of their brain that doesn't think that. When it comes to more immediate violent trends, I'm slightly more careful. The burnings of migrant centers is one of these things. I'm slightly hesitant to say "patriotic heroes burn another might center," given that this could be construed as calling for more arson (whereas it can't be construed that I'm calling for Breivik to kill more brats). Dylann Roof I have labeled "DyRo," and though I offer explanations for what he did, I never condemn him. I also think it is very funny to say that he was simply defending himself when he was attacked in a church by black mamies trying to steal his iPhone. That sort of silly humor really bites at the Jew "pure evil" narrative." "Meet The Stormer: Here Are The People Who Keep The World’s Most Popular White Power Website Afloat" https://angrywhitemen.org/2018/08/15/meet-the-stormer-here-are-the-people-who-keep-the-worlds-most-popular-white-power-website-afloat/ Anglin at the SPLC: https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/extremist-files/individual/andrew-anglin Classic Anglin: "War Machine Did Nothing Wrong." https://dailystormer.name/war-machine-did-nothing-wrong/ "I don’t usually defend deranged brown savages. But I’m going to right now. UFC fighter War Machine has been sentenced to life in prison for assault and battery, which is insane in itself. This is a situation where one person beat another person’s ass. Pretty badly, okay. But that was all it was – an ass beating. There was no attempted murder. Somehow there are 29 felony convictions, and I don’t even understand what that means – this was a single incident of someone getting their ass kicked. But on top of the nuttiness of “giving someone an ass beating” resulting in life imprisonment – the bitch deserved it, and no one anywhere can make an argument that she didn’t.... "Like, he had this meme about how anyone should be able to murder anyone at any time if they were capable of it. It was his main point. He talked about “in this day and age there is laws protecting the weak” – that is a quote. That he said a lot. Like he wanted literal Conanism. He took the philosophical position that anyone should be able to murder anyone at any time. He also did things like call for the assassination of Barack Obama and said that men in modern feminist societies are treated worse than Jews during the Holocaust. He has also said many other things that some people might consider to be awesome." "Corrective Rape Will Save Us." https://dailystormer.name/corrective-rape-will-save-us/ "There was a time where good, average men had access to women and created their own families without having to play these games. Giving women agency as if they were something other than property was a grave mistake that needs correcting. They don’t know what’s best for them and they’re incapable of appreciating the sacrifice men make for them to be safe and comfortable. Rape is the solution. Think about it. This slut was surrounded by like 30 men that wanted to have sex with her. Those men were subjected to stupid hoops and games and ended up gaining nothing and wasting a lot of time. It would have been easier for them to rape her, be done with it and move on towards productive stuff." "ISIS Claims Responsibility for Arianapocalypse As Police Searches Continue Across UK." https://dailystormer.name/isis-claims-responsibility-for-arianapocalypse-as-police-searches-continue-across-uk/ "I know it is the culture, and people just go along with the culture, but if you’re sending your 8-year-old daughter to see this: Then you do, by divine natural law, deserve to suffer for it in the most horrible imaginable way. I hope her parents didn’t die with her. And I hope they are someday able to understand why they deserved this. There are laws in the universe. And when they are transgressed, these transgressions have consequences. Sadly – and I mean that genuinely, it is sad – it doesn’t matter if you know you are breaking these laws or not. Rules still apply." "Andrew Anglin Exposed!" "I started out with normal Alex Jones type conspiracy material, and then moved on to weirder conspiracy material, and then eventually decided Ted Kaczinski was right with regards to a coming apocalypse due to the rapidity of technological development, read a bunch of stuff from Jaques Ellul and Jean Baudrillard, and went to live in a jungle in Asia for a while. To be clear, I was actually already living and working in Asia at the time, because it was just so much more sensible economically. Also, it is a lot of fun in Southeast Asia (China isn’t), and all the White people you meet are outcast sorts who you can usually connect with easily (you aren’t really spending much time with Asians). As the reader is aware, to this day I have little negative to say about Asians, save that I don’t think they should be immigrating into Western countries (in any kind of numbers) and I don’t think White people should be producing children with them. I will also say that Chinese people don’t have souls. Having been raised mostly without exposure to non-Whites, this was when I first started thinking seriously about race as a biological concept. Eventually, I got fed up and realized that I couldn’t live in a jungle with a bunch of 80 IQ jungle people. I had always been into 4chan, as I am at heart a troll. This is about the time /new/ was going full-Nazi, and so I got into Hitler, and realized that through this type of nationalist system, alienation could be replaced with community in a real sense, while the authoritarianism would allow for technology to develop in a direction that was beneficial rather than destructive to the people. Then, without really any knowledge at all of the contemporary White Nationalist scene, I started Total Fascism, a blog promoting total fascism." "The Alt-Right's Asian Fetish, Audrea Lim, The New York Times." https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/06/opinion/sunday/alt-right-asian-fetish.html "Andrew Anglin Does the Philippines -- Jailbait Style." https://www.liveleak.com/view?i=53b_1426403408 Columbus Alive, "White Nationalist From Worthington." https://www.columbusalive.com/entertainment/20170208/white-nationalist-from-worthington "In 2007, two freshman-year friends had strikingly similar run-ins with Anglin. On both occasions, Anglin expressed a deep interest in conspiracy theory and, in particular, reptilian humanoids, a concept that posits global leaders either are, or are controlled by, lizard-like beings. These theories would form the backbone of Anglin’s first forays into blogging on his site Adventure Quest 2012, which launched with a post laying forth the site’s mission to mend “the wounds produced by modern society ... and [help] the reader transcend these physical bonds and reach total ascendancy.” “To mend these wounds,” Anglin wrote, “the world must learn to embrace diversity and color.” Later posts would delve into the lives of reptilians and humanoid sharks. [...] "Writing on his blog True Fascism, a precursor to the Daily Stormer first launched in 2012, Anglin described an affinity for Filipinos, referring to them as “a civilized, non-aggressive and industrious people.” Over time, however, he started to believe it impossible to develop deeper, more meaningful relationships with the island dwellers, owing to what he described as “minds ... as primitive as their living.” “While living in the jungle, I began drinking too much of a strong coconut wine brewed by the locals, began to feel deeply depressed and alone, and eventually left that life behind, forever,” he wrote. “It was only among my own kind — those of the European race — that I would ever be able to share true kinship, as it is only they who share my blood, and can understand my soul. ... By the Grace of God, I found Adolf Hitler.” After delving deeper into the writings of Hitler and former Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, Anglin launched the short-lived Total Fascism, which included long-form posts about everything from Hitler’s artwork to a written desire to round up non-white immigrants and place them in concentration camps “until they can be shipped back to wherever they are from.” " The Atlantic, Luke O'Brien, "The Making of an American Nazi." https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/12/the-making-of-an-american-nazi/544119/ "Former friends recall that Anglin’s parents seemed blind to their son’s alarming behavior. And while he could be tender toward his younger siblings, Chelsey and Mitch, and loyal to his friends, he also had a sadistic side. Alison (who asked that her last name be withheld from this article) told me that during Anglin’s sophomore year, she called him, distraught: She said she’d passed out at a party and been raped by a friend’s older brother. She needed compassion and support, but Anglin just laughed and broke up with her. “You’re a slut,” she remembers him saying. Several girls Anglin had gotten to know at another high school began calling her house at all hours of the night, according to Alison and other sources. “You deserved it,” they’d say. “You slut.” Alison says the abuse went on for weeks, as Anglin showed friends a video he’d made of them having sex. After the breakup, Dan Newman, another friend at the time, remembers Anglin once bashing his head into the walls of his bedroom in such a frenzy that his mother had to call the police. Several classmates told me that Anglin didn’t date again in high school and sometimes tried to kiss other boys, including one black student he especially liked. Whether this behavior was authentic experimentation or just for shock value, it’s notable in light of the extreme homophobia Anglin has since expressed on The Daily Stormer and elsewhere. He has advocated, for instance, throwing gays off buildings, isis-style." Lawsuits From the Atlantic piece: "At the time, Richard Spencer and Andrew Anglin barely knew each other. Spencer, who fancies himself white nationalism’s leading intellectual, cloaks his racism in highbrow arguments. Anglin prefers the gutter, reveling in the vile language common on the worst internet message boards. But Spencer and Anglin had appeared together on a podcast the day before Sherry’s Medium post was published and expressed their mutual admiration. Anglin declared it a “historic” occasion, a step toward greater unity on the extreme right. It was in this spirit that Anglin “doxed” Gersh and her husband, Judah, as well as other Jews in Whitefish, by publishing their contact information and other personal details on his website. He plastered their photographs with yellow stars emblazoned with jude and posted a picture of the Gershes’ 12-year-old son superimposed on the gates at Auschwitz. He commanded his readers—his “Stormer Troll Army”—to “hit ’em up.” “All of you deserve a bullet through your skull,” one Stormer said in an email. “Put your uppity slut wife Tanya back in her cage, you rat-faced kike,” another wrote to Judah. “You fucking wicked kike whore,” Andrew Auernheimer, The Daily Stormer’s webmaster, said in a voicemail for Gersh. “This is Trump’s America now.” Over the next week, the Stormers besieged Whitefish businesses, human-rights groups, city-council members—anyone potentially connected to the targets. A single harasser called Judah’s office more than 500 times in three days, according to the Whitefish police. Gersh came home one night to find her husband sitting at home in the dark, suitcases on the floor, wondering whether they should flee. “I have never been so scared in my entire life,” she later told me." In their motion, Randazza said the attorney-client relationship "has broken down" and created an "irreconcilable conflict" for the defense. In a phone interview with the Missoulian, Randazza said he had little interest in continuing his representation of someone unwilling to follow a federal judge's order. "My client made the decision years ago he was going to expatriate himself and never return," Randazza said. He claimed that his violent rhetoric was never sincere but simply a way to mock those who slap a Nazi label on anyone who “stands up for white people’s rights” or “refuses to believe the stupid lies about Hitler” or rejects the “alleged Holocaust” narrative. Anglin now shared what he said had been his true editorial approach all along: “Ironic Nazism disguised as real Nazism disguised as ironic Nazism.” Five days later, he posted about “the world being ruled either by reptiles from another dimension or some other type of reptilian or insectoid race of aliens.” Where the irony started and stopped was hard to know. I emailed Anglin one more time asking for an interview. He didn’t answer. The next day, he wrote a post calling for the mass execution of journalists. “I want to see pieces of journalist brains splattered across walls,” he wrote."

Time Text
Hello and welcome to episode 23 of I Don't Speak German, the podcast in which I, Jack Graham, talk to my friend Daniel Harper about what he learned from, must be pushing three years now, of listening to the online American far-right talk to each other in their safe spaces, their podcasts, their YouTube videos, etc, etc, etc.
Hi Daniel, how are you doing?
I'm doing well, and actually you're right, it just recently passed three years.
Which is a lovely milestone, and three more, three more years.
That's what we're hoping for.
Yeah, the first three of many.
Not so much, hopefully.
But yeah, no, doing great!
Okay, and this episode is going to be about Andrew Anglin and the Daily Stormer.
And it's gonna be, I'm afraid, pretty language-heavy, this one.
All our episodes come with content warnings.
For not just subject matter, but language we're sometimes forced to repeat.
It's going to be maybe especially the case for this one, so we'll try to signal it as it comes up.
Some of the stuff in this episode just, I mean, there are a lot of quotes that just include a lot of this, and I think it's just kind of necessary sometimes to just lay it on you.
We'll keep it light, but this one will be, there will be more slurs in this than I would prefer.
But ultimately, you know, saying k-word and n-word, etc.
incessantly, I think kind of loses the power of the actual language that we're discussing.
in some ways.
Particularly when we're talking about people as terrible as Andrew Anglin.
And believe it or not, Christopher Cantwell makes a special cameo appearance in this episode.
So yay!
Yeah, I was gonna say, we have some...
Do we actually have some Cantwell news before we start?
We both have Cantwell news.
A little brief bit of Cantwell news that when Emily Gorchensky heard, she said, "Please just inject this into my veins." Which just should tell you the power of the quality of this Cantwell news.
It is delicious Cantwell news.
And also, he will come up organically in the episode a little bit later on.
So look forward to that when it happens.
But yeah, no, we should just start with that, I guess.
So, as you may remember, Christopher Cantwell is, he is engaging in some legal battles, still relating to the stuff that happened around Unite the Right, the Science vs. Kessler lawsuit, which you can find out about if you Google Science v. Kessler or look back at our previous episodes.
We discussed it briefly in Episode 4 and on the, I believe in the two Cantwell episodes, we mentioned it here and there, but he is under a kind of continuing legal threat.
He is threatening his lawyers, or the opposing side's lawyers, on Telegram.
So, Telegram is an app that is sort of a messaging app, and it's increasingly become a place where people go to have conversations privately that isn't Discord, because it turns out Discord is really easy to get into.
Well, he still thinks it's private, but it's only semi-private, so this is what happened.
And this is from the Daily Progress.
It's from an article called, As Codefendants Fight Discovery, Cantwell Threatens Lawyer.
And it says, On June 18th, Cantwell posted an article about Roberta Kaplan, the lead lawyer on the case.
This is the opposing counsel, so not his lawyer, the other lawyer.
Roberta Kaplan has argued in front of the Supreme Court.
She argued the case that legalized gay marriage in the United States at the federal level.
About Roberta Kaplan, the lead lawyer on the case, to the messaging site Telegram, which is frequented by extremists.
And here's some of the language we warned you about already.
Yay, we're already here!
After this stupid kike whore loses this fraudulent lawsuit, we're gonna have a lot of fucking fun with her, Catwell wrote.
The threat was mentioned during a telephonic hearing Tuesday in federal court in Charlottesville, where lawyers discussed the snail's pace of the discovery process in the lawsuit that alleges organizers and key participants in the August 12, 2017 white supremacist rally planned and promoted violence against protected groups.
Cantwell has posted derogatory statements about Kaplan before.
The plaintiff's lawyers wrote in a motion filed Tuesday, but his recent statement is a thinly veiled threat that impairs the lawyer's ability to carry out their work.
The lawyers asked the court to enjoin Cantwell to refrain from any future threats.
Catwell already has been found guilty of assaulting and pepper-spraying activists on August 11, 2017 and of violating conditions of his bond.
He remains a defendant in another civil suit filed by people injured during the Unite the Right rally.
On Tuesday afternoon, shortly after the news stories about the motion were published, Catwell posted about Kaplan again on Telegram, calling Kaplan a lying piece of Jewish filth.
So, um, Catwell threatening lawyers, not the best way to go about, um, Winning in court.
Just gonna put it out there.
They tend to look not kindly on that.
Kent Wills kind of a circle in the drain.
If I had to kind of make an independent assessment based on where he is right now, I would not even bother following him at all because I think he has like a few hundred listeners at most at this point.
He has isolated himself.
He has broken every friendship that he's ever had in the movement.
He is basically a completely failed and crushed human being, but he is possibly going to be violent and he has some people who might be violent listening to him, so I still am kind of forced to follow him.
But yeah, this is kind of delightful news for anyone who wishes Christopher Cantwell to have a much-deserved self-immolation.
Again, if you go back and listen to our Cantwell episodes, he has been incredibly willing to essentially pick fights with people within the movement, isolate himself within whatever political group he happens to join.
He used to be in the Libertarians.
They didn't like him.
They kicked him out.
He tried to kind of move to Keene and kind of be part of the Free State Project.
They didn't like him.
They kicked him out.
He was, you know, he does this over and over and over again.
My guess is he's going to try the tankies next, so we'll see how that goes for him.
But yeah, that's where Cantwell is.
So on with the main episode, which is about, because fuck Cantwell, who cares, which is about Andrew Anglin and the Daily Stormer.
So, yeah, Daniel, where would you like to start with this particular box of delights?
This is something that's sort of a philosophical question that comes up with people sometimes when they kind of ask me why we cover certain subjects in certain ways.
And that is, I never intend this podcast to be a let's pick the like 10 worst things this person has ever said and like take jokes out of context and treat jokes as real.
You know, the attempt here is to Actually play fair with these people and to give them, you know, sort of every benefit of the doubt and to describe them accurately and honestly, because I think ultimately that's a way more infuriating for them and be much more effective than just sort of mocking them, you know, for whatever would be.
Anglin is really difficult to do that with, because he encourages people to see him as the cartoon caricature of evil that is the Daily Stormer.
And there seems to be very little there that isn't that to Anglin.
Also, Anglin doesn't podcast much.
He kind of guests on other people's shows, or he has.
He doesn't really do it anymore.
So I just haven't had a chance to sort of listen to him and talk very much.
Um, and I'll say that a lot of the, uh, you know, a lot of the sort of low budget podcasts like this one, um, where people are not sort of like speaking from a prepared script and have, you know, editors and professional audio levelers and all that sort of thing.
Um, there is a verite element.
And so while it is propaganda that we're kind of talking about on the show.
To a large degree, I feel like you can get a sense of who these people are just by sort of listening to them long enough.
Anglin is someone who, because he does not kind of produce regular audio content, is a lot harder to get that read on, and so it was just sort of harder for me to feel like I was comfortable sort of adding to the discussion on Anglin.
Also, and this is something that's just gonna kind of come up here in the episode, there's a lot of stuff I kind of have to waltz around a little bit.
There are certain topics that I'm not going to cover too closely, because there's still kind of stuff happening in the background, and ultimately there are still kind of legal battles kind of going on around England.
and some personality conflicts that Anyway, there's let me just let me just like summarize here and say I'm gonna say some awful shit about Anglin I'm trying to be as fair as possible I would give him the benefit of every doubt but also there's even worse shit You're not hearing about because I'm not prepared to talk about it yet.
So just leave it at that.
Okay?
So, Andrew Anglin is the guy who founded and the primary writer, the primary personality behind The Daily Stormer.
The Daily Stormer takes its title from Der Sturmer, the Nazi propaganda magazine from the 30s.
And he, as of sort of early 2017, up through Unite the Right and kind of, I guess, the first few months of 2018, If you would ask me, you know, kind of who are the the three big people of the alt-right like who is who are the kind of the founding members and the sort of the the socio-political heft it would be Richard Spencer, Mikey Enoch, and Andrew Anglin.
They were that group.
You know, Spencer the PR guy, Enoch the propagandist, and Anglin the troll.
And ultimately, we could have done episode one of this podcast about Anglin.
It would have made just as much sense as doing it about Spencer.
For me, I didn't kind of organize it that way, and I wasn't prepared to do it for reasons I've already discussed.
But Anglin is hugely, hugely important in this movement.
He has become increasingly secretive.
He spins lies about himself the way...
Yeah, I mean, you know, pick your metaphor about who spends what often, I suppose.
But he lies, he lies about his lies, he lies about the lies that he hasn't lied about.
And then he tells the truth, but says it in a way that's so absurd that it must be a lie.
And then he admits doing all of this, and so ultimately you're just kind of forced to shrug your shoulders and just sort of take him at his word.
And so that's kind of what we're going to do here.
He has written quite a bit about himself.
He has been much written about, and there has been a lot of conversation around him.
And yet I feel like, do I really understand Andrew Anglin?
The answer is no, I do not truly understand Andrew Anglin, but I'm going to attempt to talk about him anyway.
So, um, this one will definitely come with, uh, more caveats than some of the others in the sense that, like, there's stuff in this that I'm, I'm pretty sure that, like, there's stuff I don't know about England that would make some of what I'm gonna say, um, wrong.
But I have done my best to try to get at the core of this guy.
Andrew Anglin runs the Daily Stormer.
The Daily Stormer is a rag.
If you go to the website, it is currently dailystormer.name.
They went through a huge protracted battle over their URL and various URLs that they owned after Unite the Right.
We'll get to that at the end.
They are, if you go visit that website, and it's still up, it is, as far as I can tell, it is still one of the top-ranked websites talking about far-right politics on the internet.
It does still have an Alexa ranking.
They do really, really well.
They are, if anything, even bigger than the right stuff, and they have always been bigger than the right stuff.
That is because they produce a ton of articles about really racist shit that are short and easy to read and easily shareable, originally on kind of more Twitter and Facebook, but increasingly within the far-right cesspool ecosystem.
So I guess the best place to start is to talk about what reading the Daily Stormer is like.
And the best way I have to do that is actually a style guide was leaked from inside the Daily Stormer.
So Vox Dei actually released parts of this because he was kind of buddies with Anglin a little bit kind of back in the day and he had access to that.
I think he had tried to write for the Daily Stormer.
I may have even written for them, who knows?
But He released a little excerpt from it and then kind of later on it got leaked through some method.
But it was posted by the Huffington Post, if you believe the Huffington Post, which no right-wing person listening to this podcast would.
But it seems really authentic to me because it basically encapsulates perfectly what reading the Daily Strummer is like.
This whole thing is available.
It's about 17 pages.
If you read any source document that I have provided for you during the making of this podcast or any podcast episode that we have done, this is absolutely worth a read.
It almost encapsulates the entire alt-right methodology, this entire internet subculture in a nutshell.
I'm going to read some sections from this.
Again, this is Andrew Anglin writing for his audience, so there's got to be some language here.
He says, We are writing for the common man, so the language should be very simple, using a standard 8th grade vocabulary.
The use of quote-unquote college words is extremely discouraged.
The only situation in which an uncommon word should be used is when it is unavoidable, such as when it is needed to describe something technical, or a situation or phenomenon that is so specific that it requires a unique description.
As a rule, every post should be filled with as much visual stimulation as possible.
Pages should look exciting and appeal to the ADHD culture.
This really can't be overdone.
These include straight images, pictures of persons, places, events, meme images that you make yourself or find on other sites.
Fresh memes are best, but old memes are good too.
Funny GIFs, Twitter embeds, YouTube videos, or other video from other sites if necessary, following the above-mentioned embed protocol.
This is a long document that a lot of it is fairly technical about what kinds of image sizes and such and what kind of capitalization he expects on the website to make a consistent form.
Something that any person sending out a writing style guide for any website would do, which kind of points to a level of professionalism in this that you don't find in a lot of these Andrew England has a goal, he has a specific angle he's trying for here, and he is doing this with a purpose to actually reach as many people as possible.
He actually, in many places he has described, he looked at Gawkers, Gawker.com's now defunct, but he looked at their business model and what their website did, and essentially copied that.
So the Daily Stormer is copying liberal gossip rags.
Furthermore, and here's where we are going to use some language here, I apologize.
Profanity should be used sparingly.
An overuse of profanity can come across as goofy.
Nigger is okay to use sometimes, but shouldn't be used constantly.
The following racial slurs are allowed and advisable.
Negroid slash Negroid, Monkey, Ape, Spick, Wetback, Beaner, Beanperson, Kike, Yid, Sheeny, Christkiller, Haji, Sandperson, Pocky, quote, can be used for non-Pakistani Muslims, especially Arabs, because that's funny.
Muzzy, Chink, Gook, Sipperhead, and others.
The following are not allowed.
Shitskin, Latrino, any others related to poop, Mud.
Quote, I just don't really like this one.
It seems like too much SF Boomer talk.
While racial slurs are allowed recommended, not every reference to non-white should be I'd love to.
And their use should be based on the tone of the article.
Generally, when using racial slurs, it should come across as half joking, like a racist joke that everyone laughs at because it's true.
This follows the generally light tone of the site.
There is much, much more of this.
For instance, would you like to hear the prime directive of the Daily Stormer?
I'd love to.
Please tell me.
The prime directive.
Always blame the Jews for everything.
Here's the, here's the, as Hitler says, people will become confused and disheartened if they feel there are multiple enemies.
As such, all enemies should be combined into one enemy, which is the Jews.
This is pretty much objectively true anyway, but we want to leave out any and all nuance.
So no blaming enlightenment, thought, pathological altruism, technology, urbanization, etc.
Just blame Jews for everything.
This basically includes blaming Jews for the behavior of other non-whites.
Of course it should not be that they are innocent, but the message should always be that if we didn't have the Jews, we could figure out how to deal with non-whites very easily.
The same deal with women.
Women should be attacked, but there should always be mentioned that if it wasn't for the Jews, they would be acting normally.
What should be completely avoided is the sometimes mentioned idea that even if we got rid of the Jews, we would still have all these other problems.
The Jews should always be the beginning and end of every problem, from poverty, to poor family dynamics, to war, to the destruction of the rainforest.
Would you like to hear what this document has to say about violence?
This is a subject that's in the news lately.
People in my mentions are spending a lot of time telling me I should spend a lot of time feeling sad about people being hit with milkshakes.
Let's hear what Andrew Anglin in this document has to say about violence.
It is illegal to promote violence on the internet.
At the same time, it's totally important to normalize the acceptance of violence as an eventuality and inevitability.
I'm extremely careful about nephro-suggesting violence.
I go beyond legal requirements in America.
However, when someone does something violent, it should be made light of, laughed at.
For example, Anders Breivik should be forever referred to as a heroic freedom fighter.
This is great because people think he must be joking, but there is a part of their brain that doesn't think that.
When it comes to more immediate violent trends, I'm slightly more careful.
The burnings of migrant centers is one of these things.
I'm slightly hesitant to say patriotic heroes burn another mighty center, given that this could be construed as calling for more arson, whereas it can't be construed that I'm calling for Brevik to kill more brats.
Dylan Roof I have labeled Dyro, and although I offer explanations for what he did, I never condemn him.
I also think it is very funny to say that he was simply defending himself when he was attacked in a church by black mammies trying to steal his iPhone.
That sort of silly humor really bites at the Jew quote-unquote pure evil narrative.
That's just a selection from the lovely document of if you want to learn to write for the Daily Stormer.
That's exactly how you write for it.
Yeah, well, now I know.
So now you know.
So what I find, you know, I know I quoted that at length, and the reason I did is because so much of what The alt-right and what this kind of modern internet white nationalist movement is trying to do is to disguise their intentions and to sort of play off everything as a joke to sort of play humor.
And so you think, well, surely they couldn't be serious because no one would actually believe those things, except they do believe these things, but they're using the humor as a way of masking that and to kind of make people more accepting of it and to move people who kind of believe it, but don't really more into the realm of actually believing it.
And here we have one of the founders of this movement, one of the major figures, still a major figure even if he's in hiding, absolutely just putting it out there.
This is exactly what you should do.
Pretend you don't believe this by using humor, by using silly language, by going over the top.
Say it in that way and then you can say exactly what you believe and nobody will believe you.
It's outright, I mean, you know.
That's the strategy.
That's what they're doing.
And if everybody were to understand that, I could quit doing this.
Yeah.
I mean, really, there it is, just laid out for you.
It's a perfect little window right inside the actual operating procedure, isn't it?
Right.
I mean, it's just right there.
I pulled some segments.
And again, I try not to just read the worst things that any person ever said on this podcast.
But there's so much with Anglin, and so Anglin goes out of his way to be the sort of like terrorist, you know, the white Nazi mastermind kind of guy, right?
He goes out of his way to seem that way, to be as edgy as possible, so that he has that sort of plausible deniability thing, because he's always speaking in that kind of hyperbole.
Yeah, it's always turned up to 11, so he can always say it.
And what he wants is for me to be shocked by it.
He wants us to kind of, like, be shocked and clutch our pearls and say, oh, what a terrible thing that he says then, and he believes it.
He wants me to be offended or triggered or shocked by this, and trust me.
I have seen this over and over.
I have been through many many many hours of this.
This is no longer shocking to me.
It takes a lot to upset me at this point.
And Andrew Anglin, you are so fucking juvenile.
I'm assuming he's going to listen to this.
He is so fucking juvenile.
Very little bothers me, but there are some examples that I thought were worth highlighting.
So, for instance, in this piece, which I've linked, you can go read it, War Machine did nothing wrong.
And this is related, trigger warning, this involves domestic abuse, very, very violent domestic abuse, and the celebration of such.
So, look forward to that.
Um, War Machine was a UFC fighter who was pretty well ranked as far as I know.
Huge guy, incredibly violent.
He did like the Joe Rogan's podcast at some point.
I have not listened to that episode, but I mean, I just kind of did my little due diligence on him.
I don't follow the UFC, but apparently he was, he was a guy, he was well known, he was ever coming.
He was dating a lovely young porn star named Christy Mac and he beat the shit out of her.
Christy Mac was something like 5'2 and weighed about 90 pounds.
The photos from that attack are absolutely horrifying.
This is what Inklin had to say after those photos were released.
War Machine did nothing wrong.
I don't usually defend deranged brown savages, but I'm going to right now!
UFC Fighter War Machine has been sentenced to life in prison for assault and battery, which is insane in itself.
This is a situation where one person beat another person's ass.
Pretty badly, okay.
But that was all it was, an ass beating.
This was no attempted murder.
Somehow there are 29 felony convictions and I don't even understand what that means.
This is a Sinklands incident of someone getting their ass kicked.
But on top of the nuttiness of giving someone an ass beating resulting in life imprisonment, the bitch deserved it, and no one anywhere can make an argument that she didn't.
Like, he had this meme about how anyone should be able to murder anyone at any time if they were capable of it.
It was his main point.
He talked about, in this day and age, there are laws protecting the weak.
That is a quote that he said a lot.
Like, he wanted literal Conanism.
And at this point in the article, in the original article, he has one of the paintings of Conan from the Robert E. Howard stories.
He took the philosophical position that anyone should be able to murder anyone at any time.
He also did things like call for the assassination of Barack Obama and said that men in modern feminist societies are treated worse than Jews during the Holocaust.
He has also said many other things that some people might consider to be awesome.
He goes on to offer War Machine a regular hosting slot, a regular column on the Daily Stormer.
Another piece?
talk about whatever he wanted, because even though War Machine is a quote-unquote brown savage who has these propensities for being violent, he thinks War Machine is perfectly awesome.
That's the position he took on the website.
Another piece, corrective rape will save us.
There was a time when good average men had access to women and created their own families without having to play these games.
Giving women agency as if they were something other than property was a grave mistake that needs correcting.
They don't know what's best for them and they're incapable of appreciating the sacrifice men make for them to be safe and comfortable.
Rape is the solution.
Think about it.
This slut was surrounded by like 30 men that wanted to have sex with her.
Those men were subjected to stupid hoops and games that ended up gaining nothing and wasting a lot of time.
It would have been easier for them to rape her, been done with it, and move on towards productive stuff.
This is in relation to a viral video of a woman doing an IRL dating app thing where she's picking and choosing women.
I don't know, it was some bullshit thing that I saw that that England guy decided to write an article about how these 30 guys should just rape her instead of not raping her.
That's just the thing.
So, I mean, you can tell from the, you know, again, I hate like reading this because I know it makes the podcast unpleasant to listen to, but I think it's also like essential to actually say, this is what this website is saying.
This is what this guy is writing.
And he writes several articles a day that are essentially just like this.
This is not me kind of picking and choosing.
I mean, I am picking kind of older ones that were just sort of in my head, that were just sort of like, that I remembered from just seeing, but you know, there's nothing, There's nothing particularly here that's special in terms of Daily Stormer content.
This is just sort of, this is the day in, day out, this is the load you get from reading the Daily Stormer.
And it gets, or at least got, hundreds of thousands of views a day, like unique views a day.
It was by far the biggest site of its kind on the internet.
Many times bigger than something like Stormfront, for instance.
And it's because it's something that was, you know, that kids would read.
I mean, he literally says, I mean, he says, you know, right in an eighth grade level, he is legitimately, he says this on many, many occasions, he is going after 13 year olds.
He's going after kids and trying to inoculate them against the doctrine, the evils of egalitarian thought when they're young, so that they're not like filled with quote unquote Jewish lies or whatever.
That's what he's doing.
This is what I'm reading.
This is the point.
I remember he came up a lot on We Hunted the Mammoth, didn't he?
Oh yeah, no, he did, definitely.
The thing again, just going through and absorbing a bunch of Anglin material very briefly, which I did for this episode, you find that Anglin is very much in that he was a misogynist first.
I think we will get to that here very briefly.
I do want to read just one more little bit from the Stormer, just to give you that last little taste of how bad this guy is.
And this one is about the bombing in your home country at the Ariana Grande concert.
And this will kind of come up again later, so I do want to read just a little bit here.
ISIS claims responsibility for Ariana-pocalypse as police searches continue across UK.
So this is right after the terrorist incident.
I know it is the culture and people just go along with the culture but if you're sending your eight-year-old daughter to see this and here he has some photos like a Line of photos from of Ariana Grande and some of them look kind of from concerts of hers Looking the way Ariana Grande does in a short skirt and dancing.
I don't see any problem with that but Andrew England definitely does so Then you, by divine natural law, deserve to suffer for it in the most horrible, imaginable way.
I hope her parents didn't die with her.
And he's talking about an eight-year-old girl who died at the concert.
And I hope they are someday able to understand why they deserved this.
There are laws in the universe, and when they are transgressed, these transgressions have consequences.
Sadly, and I mean that genuinely, it is sad, it doesn't matter if you know you are breaking these laws or not.
Rules still apply.
So this is an eight-year-old girl, dies in a terrorist bombing, and Anglin's blaming them.
That's despicable.
As you say, it's not shocking.
I mean, I'm not shocked by it.
I think it's vile.
I think it's pathetic and juvenile.
Right.
And juvenile describes this in such a great way.
And just to again, to kind of jump ahead to the next step is our to it to a near future episode.
You know, one of the things that, you know, I do get emails about that people criticize this podcast for is that we take, you know, there's a perception that I'm taking low hanging fruit, that I'm kind of picking on like Chris Cantwell, and who does not have a sort of like intellectual, you know, kind of a rigorous intellectual argument is kind of making fun of him or whatever, that I'm kind of looking at these kind of like low hanging propagandas.
Instead of in there and then they kind of pick a couple of like of the the more kind of Intellectual types that they kind of like devise arguments and such and the reality is that like even the quote-unquote Intellectuals don't go much deeper than this.
I mean this it's just vile bigotry.
I mean, that's all that's here It's just you know, the her parents deserve to suffer because they allowed they didn't like enforce structures of A certain kind of sexual morality on their little girl and not let her go see a pop star's concert.
I mean, you know, you can feel the way you want to about Ariana Grande, but, you know, she's not like a harbinger of the end of civilization, you know?
For the record, Ariana's great.
I love Ariana.
I love Ariana Grande as well.
She's amazing.
But, I mean, you know, the idea of... I'd much rather talk about Ariana Grande.
This is the biggest...
Can we do an episode of the podcast and just talk about how great Ariana Grande is?
I think the audience would deserve that at some point.
Let's do that.
We'll call it, Ariana Grande is definitely not a Nazi.
That's what we'll call it.
I wouldn't even put it in brackets.
God, I could do a whole episode.
I could do a whole episode just about the responses to that bombing at that concert.
Yeah, I'm sure.
Like, I could pull up all the old stuff that they said back then.
We could, I mean, believe me, you could take almost any, like, big incident that they talked about and you could do a whole, like, little 45-minute episode just talking about the terrible things that were said about that incident.
Greenfield in particular like that one just got really really nasty.
Anyway, um It's kind of their whole thing though, isn't it being scandalized by children's entertainment?
Sorry, go on I'm being no no being scandalized by children's entertainment being scandalized by pop culture being scandalized by the culture in general, you know this this Look, I'm no great fan of capitalist media structures.
Let's not lead people into that direction.
you know atomizes on look i'm no like great uh fan of you know capitalist media structures you know let's not let's not kind of lead people into that direction um but you know like like ariana grande isn't bad because she wears short skirts you know like ariana grande you don't blame her It's like the structure of the music industry that, like, crushes artists in favor of, you know, capitalist record label executives and, you know, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
And, like, you know, people aren't able to make music on their own and all the other, you know, kind of things that go along with that.
That's the problem with the music industry.
Not Ariana Grande wears a short skirt.
And of course, she's not white, quote unquote.
She's what they call a 56% face.
Oh, yeah.
I didn't even think of that.
It's a metaphor.
I didn't even think of that.
Yeah, that she's not white.
They're like, look at that disgusting mulatto, basically, is what they say.
I'm a very bad Aryan.
Until you said that, I didn't even...
Sorry, you know you absorb enough of this stuff long enough and you start to like it It does just start to kind of become a thing that you just notice It's like well, they wouldn't call that person white like obviously that person is white But no no not not white enough by their standards.
So white people are both, you know a a massively kind of You know overarching majority of like quote-unquote like white countries European countries and then European colonized countries But then like when it comes to like who actually counts as white, it's a much much smaller percentage.
Yeah And this is pretty universal throughout the movement.
Yeah.
I wasn't, by the way, I wasn't just doing a, I don't see color thing.
I know, I know what the problem is with that.
Oh, no, no, no, not at all.
Not at all.
We're certainly aware that there's a difference between like, you know, having the like, oh, well that person's, you know, eye slants or so they've got a little bit of the, the, the, the knee droid in them, or they've got a little bit of the mongoloid in them, et cetera.
Sort of that level of like looking at particular facial features and deciding someone looks white or not.
One of Mike Enoch's favorite things is he is obsessed with Adam Driver, the actor who is Ben Solo in the new Star Wars films.
Adam Driver is not Jewish.
There is no reason to think that Adam Driver is a Jewish.
Mike Enoch is obsessed with the fact that Adam Driver is Jewish.
He looks so Jew-y.
I mean, look at that guy.
Look at that nose!
And you can't tell me that guy is not a Jew.
That guy is a fucking Jew!
And he goes on and on about it whenever Adam Driver comes up in conversation.
It's like he's obsessed with this.
I just don't know what to say to that.
It's so fucking pathetic and ridiculous.
There's nothing to say about it.
It's funny like when I do talk about this with people who kind of know these personalities a little bit and I kind of say, you know, Who kind of know more the alt-right stuff and then you start going like oh, yeah this person has like an obsession with this particular issue and they just bring it up all the time and then like you described some of the like little rabbit holes they go down and even people who are kind of Immersed in this and kind of follow more like the sort of itch types and then you know, just kind of go Well, that's just insane.
Why would anyone to believe that?
I don't know.
I just know that they do like that's all I'm telling you It's completely absurd, but they believe it.
So, you can criticize us all you like for going after low-hanging fruit.
The point is, in this subculture, there's no high-hanging fruit.
There's stuff that's slightly higher-hanging, and we will cover some of that, I promise, in the near future.
Anyway, there's a reason we go out for Andrew Anglin, and it's not for his, like, high intellectual ability.
Although, there is a cleverness to this.
I mean, he has made a website that is incredibly successful at what it does.
And it works.
I mean, you can read this website and you know exactly, like, there is a plan behind this.
And, um...
You know, like, there is an intelligence there.
There is a cunning there.
There is a strategy.
And also, Anglin gets a ton of money for this, mostly from anonymous donors through cryptocurrency.
I mean, he is, I believe, he is one of the top receivers of Bitcoin in this movement.
I think he might actually be the number one.
I mean, he's got millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin.
I guess Molyneux would be higher.
I think Molyneux has gotten more in Bitcoin, but England has received a ton of money from shadowy sources that are almost certainly, well, I don't want to, you know, we have a pretty good idea about where it's coming from, but there's no concrete evidence of it, so we'll just kind of leave it at that.
I think it's fair at this point to let Andrew speak for himself.
And in this, on his website in 2015, he wrote a piece called Andrew Anglin Exposed.
And he talked about his background.
And so it's worth kind of reading a little bit of this.
So this is Anglin's own words.
It's still up on his website as far as I know.
He stands behind this.
And most of this actually matches up with what we know from actual journalists covering this stuff.
So this is Andrew Anglin describing his own background.
I started out with normal Alex Jones-type conspiracy material, and then moved on to weirder conspiracy material, and then eventually decided Ted Kaczynski was right with regards to the coming apocalypse due to the rapidity of technological development, read a bunch of stuff from Jacques Ellul and Jean Bourrillard, and went to live in a jungle in Asia for a while.
I apologize for my French pronunciation, I'm terrible.
To be clear, I was actually already living and working in Asia at the time, because it was just so much more sensible economically.
Also, it is a lot of fun in Southeast Asia, China isn't, and all the white people you meet are outcast sorts who you can usually connect with easily.
You aren't really spending much time with the Asians.
As the reader is aware, to this day I have a little negative to say about Asians, save that I don't think they should be immigrating into Western countries in any kind of numbers, and I don't think white people should be producing children with them.
I will also say that Chinese people don't have souls.
Having been raised mostly without exposure to non-whites, this was when I first started thinking seriously about race as a biological concept.
Eventually I got fed up and realized I couldn't live in a jungle with a bunch of ADIQ jungle people.
I had always been into 4chan, as I am at heart a troll.
This is about the time Noob was going full Nazi, and so I got into Hitler, and realized that through this type of nationalist system, alienation could be replaced with community in a real sense, while the authoritarianism would allow for technology to develop in a direction that was beneficial rather than destructive to the people.
Then, without really any knowledge at all of the contemporary white nationalist scene, I started Total Fascism, a blog promoting total fascism.
Total Fascism was a site he founded in 2013, which after a few months kind of morphed into the Daily Stormer when he started increasing the posting frequency, and I guess got the sort of resources to do it professionally, I think is kind of what happened there.
And that matches up pretty well with what we know about his history, actually.
Just to kind of throw this in now, Andrew Anglin was known for dating possibly underage Asian girls while he was living in the Philippines and other places.
There's a video of him from I believe 2015, 2014 or 2015 on LiveLeak called Andrew Anglin Does the Philippines Jailbait Style in which you can see him very visibly dating what looks to be like a 16 year old Philippine girl.
Why does that not surprise me?
And this is something that we're not going to get into right here, but quite a few of these guys do have Asian fetishes and they are attracted to Asian women and they end up dating and marrying Asian women.
And there's a piece I've thrown in here from Andrea Lim in the New York Times, the alt-right's Asian fetish, and it does mention Anglin and his propensity for dating Asian women.
I'm not going to cover that.
We're not going to go into that right now.
It's a thing.
The concept of white supremacists who are not white or who date non-white people, etc.
is something that confuses people.
It's a good piece.
Go read it.
So I guess we should move on here into what real journalists have to say about Andrew Anglin.
There's a very nice piece from 2017 from Columbus, Ohio, from Columbus Alive.
I really love local journalists covering these guys because they tend to get kind of closer to the ground on this stuff.
And this is kind of what they dug up about Anglin's history.
In 2007, two freshman year friends had distractingly similar run-ins with Anglin.
On both occasions, Anglin expressed a deep interest in conspiracy theory and, in particular, reptilian humanoids, a concept that posits global leaders either are or are controlled by lizard-like beings.
These theories would form the backbone of Anglin's first forays into blogging on his site AdventureQuest2012, which launched with a post laying forth the site's mission to mend the wounds produced by modern society and help the reader transcend these physical bonds and reach total descendancy.
To mend these wounds, Anglin wrote, the world must learn to embrace diversity and color.
Later posts would delve into the lives of reptilians and human-owned sharks.
Down the piece a little bit.
Writing on his blog, True Fascism, actually it should be Total Fascism.
They made a mistake there, but that makes everything they say in this article completely false, obviously.
Writing on his blog, Total Fascism, a precursor to the Daily Starmer, first launched in 2012.
Anglin described an affinity for Filipinos, referring to them as a civilized, non-aggressive, and industrious people.
Over time, however, he started to believe it impossible to develop deeper or meaningful relationships with the island dwellers, owing to what he described as minds as primitive as their living.
While living in the jungle, I began drinking too much of a strong coconut wine brewed by the locals, began to feel deeply depressed and alone, and eventually left that life behind forever, he wrote.
It was only among my own kind, those of the European race, that I would ever be able to share true kinship, as it is only they who share my blood and can understand my soul.
By the grace of God, I found Adolf Hitler.
After delving deeper into the writings of Hitler and former Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, England launched a short-lived total fascism which included long forum posts about everything from Hitler's artwork to a written desire to round up non-white immigrants and place them in concentration camps until they can be shipped back to wherever they are from.
That's a very good piece.
Even though they made the mistake there on the true fascism thing.
Definitely go read that It's definitely worth a read all these links will be in the show notes Yes, this is a very I apologize for reading so much, but he has been covered so so thoroughly and so well I wanted to give you a real like highlight reel of stuff that other people have already written about him and also cover my ass a little bit because these are all people who write for professional publications who have like professional lawyers and
As we'll learn, Andrew England has a habit of harassing people on the internet.
We'll get there in a minute.
This is from a piece by Luke O'Brien, The Making of an American Nazi.
This was in the Atlantic.
This is another really, really good piece.
Yeah, this one is this one is quite good.
Luke O'Brien has been covering England for quite a while.
England is not a fan of this piece at all.
And in fact, went on the Daily Showa shortly after it was released, particularly to either wittingly or unwittingly completely understand the structure of the piece and why it was written the way it was.
And to call the author a stalker who was harassing his family and his friends and who was completely unprofessional and who was a complete loser.
And this is something that they used to say all the time that Enoch and England used to kind of go back and forth on.
Because Enoch had recently done the Morantz piece that we linked back in the Mike Enoch episode.
And so in this episode of the Showa, they definitely kind of compared notes on how journalists covered them.
And it's their opinion that journalists just look for some psychological trick, some thing in their past that made people into fascists.
And of course, I couldn't just become a fascist because I was just reasoned into it.
It had to be some pathology because obviously they're Jews and that's the only thing they understand because they don't come to their opinions by, you know, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
Yeah.
Yes, I remember the Jews controlled Andrew Marantz into saying that Mikey Nock only became a Nazi because of his acne or something?
Yeah, his acne and his asthma, because he had asthma medication because he was very... So I did re-listen to some episodes in preparation for this one.
The Independence Day holiday and just kind of not being on my regular schedule meant that I didn't re-listen to as many episodes as I normally would in preparation.
But I did re-listen to that episode all the way through.
Enoch is, uh, Enoch is, uh, really on form because he's like, um, he starts talking about how like Morantz is saying, like, I was bullied as a kid and I was, you know, because I like looked ugly or whatever.
And no, the truth was like, I was attractive, like in high school, like I was a bully in high school.
And my response to that immediately was like, yes, we know, we know, Mike, we know.
No, that's not a surprise to me in the slightest.
No, because you're a bully now.
You were a bully then.
And, um, you know, the point is you don't get to do that anymore.
That's the point.
You're a fascist.
Grow the fuck up.
Anyway, uh, this is from that Atlantic piece about, uh, Andrew Anglin and, uh, yeah.
Remember what I said about the, the, the deep, I mean, the segments that I read that are about the highlight, the, uh, the deep, uh, misogyny that's at the heart of Andrew Anglin in case you want to find out if that's real or not.
Uh, here's from that piece.
Former friends recall that Anglin's parents seem blind to their son's alluring behavior.
At this point he's like banging his head into walls and leaving indentations, which seems like there's some medical issue.
I don't really want to get into that because I don't, I'm not, I can't diagnose and you know etc etc, but there are numerous accounts of him, you know, like banging his head into things when he reached his like middle teens.
And, uh, you know, having some kind of, um, some kind of issue with, with that sort of thing, whether violence or whatever, I, I'm not, I'm not going to speculate on that.
I have no training in that, but it's something that comes up over and over again in the reporting about England, um, from sources that are both positive and negative to him, um, seem blind to their son's alarming behavior.
And while he could be tender towards his younger siblings, Chelsea and Mitch, and loyal to his friends, he also had a sadistic side.
Allison, who asked that her last name be withheld from this article, told me that during Anglin's sophomore year, she called him, distraught.
She said she'd passed out at a party and had been raped by her friend's older brother.
She needed compassion and support, but Anglin just laughed and broke up with her.
You're a slut, she remembers him saying.
Enoch asks him about this incident.
So...
So, Anglin does not admit to that, but essentially admits, oh yeah, well, I mean, I harassed so many women at that time, I called everyone, all of them a slut, clearly.
I mean, I don't know if I did it to that particular girl.
How could I possibly remember?
Yeah, it sounds very much like the Kavanaugh defense to me for specifics.
You know, I don't know Yeah, it's kind of it's a whole approach in a nutshell, isn't it?
You know deny everything and then kind of admit it as well As as I'm sure you you you know that quote very well.
I'm sure the that England is a You're just a Nazi.
We can tell.
We know what you are.
I've read your website.
That's right.
Later on after Unite the Right, he says, well, no, really, I was an ironic Nazi wrapped in a real Nazi that's wrapped in an ironic Nazi.
And yeah, no, you don't get to do that.
No, you're just a Nazi.
You're just a Nazi.
We can tell.
We know what you are.
I've read your website.
I've listened to the podcast.
Just a little bit more from that piece, which gets into the other thing that England got really upset about about this piece.
activities.
After the breakup, Dan Newman, another friend at the time, remembers Anglin once bashing his head into the walls of his bedroom and had such a frenzy that his mother had to call the police.
Several classmates told me that Anglin didn't date again in high school and sometimes tried to kiss other boys, including one black student he especially liked.
While this behavior was authentic experimentation or just for shock value, it's notable in light of the extreme homophobia Anglin has since expressed at the Daily Stormer and elsewhere.
He has advocated, for instance, throwing gays off of buildings ISIS-style.
That is the least of what he has to say about gay people.
He definitely did.
He definitely thought no one could possibly have said this about him, that they had to be paid to, you know, that essentially Luke O'Brien is paying people from his childhood to say that he kissed little boys, including and just to, you know.
Like I never kissed no nigger boy is essentially what he said like like five or six times in that podcast And he think like he said it many many times.
You know, he said it one time.
It's a reporting.
It's whatever It's a very minor part of this this piece But he thinks it's like Luke O'Brien trying to make him seem Like a terrible person that he like at some point might have kissed a black kid and a black boy at that Honestly, if he was it makes me like him more But, um, yeah, that's the other thing that Anglin really got upset over in that piece.
I guess now we should move on to the lawsuit section of Andrew Anglin's life, because he has had a couple of lawsuits, and that was kind of the impetus that caused me to want to do this episode.
After the Ariana Grande concert, and even beforehand, so there's a comedian named Dean Obadiah, who Andrew Anglin was convinced was a member of ISIS and possibly planned and executed the Ariana Grande bombing.
And he kind of repeated those kind of lies often enough that Obadiah decided to actually sue the Daily Stormarm for libel.
Now, one issue is that after Unite the Right, and we'll kind of get to this in a minute, Andrew Anglin basically went into hiding.
His father is the named person in terms of the domain registries, etc.
He has long been killed with the Bailey Address as his father's address and his father's business addresses.
It seems like Dad, who runs a Christian-themed ministry of some kind, I forget exactly what it is, but it's like a Christian-themed charity of some kind, is also deeply invested in the At least the financial details of the Daily Stormer, which is just lovely when families stay together like that.
All the evidence seems to imply that Anglin was basically hiding out at his parents' house and never making his face known.
Anglin has claimed for years now to have been living in Lagos, Nigeria, which seems to be kind of a massive troll.
There are reports of him in Russia and kind of in other places.
We'll get to it in a minute.
We're pretty sure he was basically spending most of his time in Columbus, Ohio where he grew up.
But there is a So there's a link in the show notes to this piece as of June 12th England has to pay the comedian Dina Budaya 4.1 million dollars and The the comedian says they are gonna donate this to charity etc.
They're not kind of looking for the money or whatever But he did actually get sort of a default judgment against himself because he just kind of refused to show up to court for too long So that's just delightful.
It's really nice that that piece of legislation is done.
We'll see where that leads.
It'd be nice if it shuttered the Daily Stormer.
Something tells me that we haven't seen the end of Andrew Anglin, but it was kind of a nice point to say, yeah, let's just do this episode now.
But that is not the only piece of legal issues that Andrew Anglin has been involved with.
There is one still underway, and we'll kind of get into the details of that here.
So, uh...
Andrew Anglin befriended Richard Spencer in 2016.
They appeared on a podcast on a show called Between Two Lampshades, which is one of the kind of TRS, one of the daily show kind of interstitial episodes back when they did that.
Between Two Lampshades because it's like Between Two Ferns, the Zach Galifianakis interview show, only it's lampshades because we're Nazis.
Ha ha ha.
Isn't it funny?
And I do have a link to this.
It is still available online.
It is from December 2016.
This was on December 14th, 2016.
The day afterwards, on a Medium piece, Andrew Anglin's mother published a piece on Medium going after a woman named Tanya Gersh.
Now, Tanya Gersh and Andrew Anglin's mother No, no, Spencer's mother.
Spencer's mother posted this piece.
Spencer's mother and Tanya Gerst both live in Whitefish, Montana, which seems to be a very extremely wealthy town in Whitefish with some white nationalist patriot movement.
There's a lot of that kind of stuff kind of going on in the town.
And they were under some kind of property dispute, and there were some kind of threats of lawsuits going back and forth.
This sounds like wealthy people doing wealthy people arguing stuff, and I'm not particularly interested in that.
Except that, so this is from another Atlantic piece, or from actually the same Atlantic piece.
At the time, Richard Spencer and Andrew Anglin barely knew each other.
Spencer, who fancies himself white nationalism's leading intellectual, cloaks his racism in highbrow arguments.
Anglin prefers the gutter, reveling in the vowel language common on the worst internet message boards.
But Spencer and Anglin had appeared together on a podcast the day before Sherry's Medium post was published, and expressed their mutual admiration.
Anglin declared it a historic occasion, a step towards greater unity on the extreme right.
It was in this spirit that Anglin doxed Gersh and her husband Judah, as well as other Jews and Whitefish, by publishing their contact information and other personal details on his website.
He plastered their photographs with yellow stars emblazoned with Jude, and posted a picture of the Gersh's 12-year-old son superimposed on the gates at Auschwitz.
He commanded his readers, his Storm Patrol Army, to hit him up.
All of you deserve a bullet through your skull, one Stormer said in an email.
Put your uppity slut wife Tanya back in her cage, you rat-faced kike.
Another one out to Judah.
You fucking wicked kike whore, Andrew Arnheimer, the Daily Stormer's webmaster, said in a voicemail for Gersh, this is Trump's America now.
Over the next week, the Stormers besieged whitefish businesses, human rights groups, city council members, anyone potentially connected to the Targets.
A single harasser called Judah's office more than 500 times in three days, according to the Whitefish Police.
Gersh came home one night to find her husband sitting at home in the dark, suitcases on the floor, wondering whether they should flee.
I have never been so scared in my entire life, she later told me.
Yeah.
What I find interesting about this is that it's very closely connected to the way he got his army of trolly friends in high school to harass the young woman who was raped.
Yeah.
If you notice.
It's basically the same behavior.
Same pattern.
It's the same pattern.
And it's exactly what, you know, if we were recording this podcast in 2017, it would probably happen to you and I.
These days, the Daily Starmer has nowhere near the reach that one's dead in terms of the troll armies just aren't out there in the same way.
As leaky and terrible as Twitter's Nazi screening is in 2019, it's a thousand times better than it was in 2017.
So while things are still awful, We don't have nearly the same kind of like instant problem with kind of covering this kind of material the way we would have we done a couple years ago So yay Twitter not completely terrible So so yeah that does that does give you a sense of kind of what and there's been a lot of Legal wrangling kind of going on behind the scenes.
Anglin's lawyer is this guy Mark Randazza.
Now Mark Randazza is this kind of quote-unquote free speech lawyer.
He has covered cases for Cernovich and for a few other kind of far-right figures.
people would normally much higher profiles than Andrew England because Andrew England is on the kind of the gutter of the far right internet.
So the fact that Randaz is kind of involved, it means that England is able to pay him or there's some kind of relationship behind the scenes, baby.
Who knows?
Who knows?
I can't suggest such things legally.
I choose not to, but you know, I'm sure there's some money sloshing around somewhere.
Allegedly.
That's what I believe.
It is my free speech to say that.
I am not trying to libel anyone with that.
But Randaz is definitely England's lawyer and has claimed, has claimed that England is no longer in the United States for years.
There is a piece which details literature, Luke O'Brien ran into Mark Randazza in Columbus, Ohio.
Luke O'Brien, who wrote the Atlantic piece, and he wrote a piece in the Huffington Post detailing all the evidence that indicates that, yeah, it sounds a lot like Andrew Anglin is in Columbus, including that, you know, friends of Andrew Anglin said they saw him at the grocery store and things like that.
So there's a lot of really good evidence that Andrew Anglin has never really left Columbus, Ohio.
But fear not for this lawsuit, which is still in process because It turns out that Mark Randazza and his co-counsel Matthew Stevenson don't really want to be England's lawyers anymore.
England attorneys Mark Randazza and Matthew Stevenson filed a motion Tuesday to withdraw from the case.
In their motion, Randazza said the attorney-client relationship has broken down and created an irreconcilable conflict for the defense.
In a phone interview with the Missoula, Randazza said he had little interest in continuing his representation of someone unwilling to follow a federal judge's order.
My client made the decision years ago he was going to expatriate himself and never return, Randazza said.
When a federal judge tells you to do something and you refuse, you put your lawyer in a difficult position.
Randazza's filing to withdraw his counsel indicates the motion was sent to his client at an email address, as well as four different physical addresses in Ohio.
So apparently even Randazza cannot direct – like Anglin is just refusing to respond to his lawyer's letters at this point.
Which is kind of going back to the beginning, really great advice if you want to win your legal battles is to not talk to your lawyers.
These guys do – there is a pattern of like they don't pay their lawyers or they run afoul of their lawyers.
They don't know what their lawyers advise them to do.
And then they lose their legal assistance.
So one thing I'm not too worried about is Andrew Anglin directly suing us for this episode.
He might harass us.
I don't think he has any particular legal resources to his credit at this point.
God, we've gone over an hour at this point.
There's so much more to do.
So earlier we did mention Andrew Arnheimer.
This is Weave.
I will say that I had originally planned on covering Weave in this episode because he's very closely associated with the Daily Stormer.
And I thought, oh yeah, we can do a little gloss on Anglin.
And then I ran into so much stuff.
About England, and Weave is kind of worth doing his own episode.
As I was prepping for this, I ran across some material on Weave that looks really interesting, but it's going to require me to spend some time with, so I can't really say any more than that at this point, but Weave is coming up, and we do have a listener who was expecting Weave to be covered in this, and I assure you, we will cover that.
We will cover Weave.
Fairly shortly, I think is the plan.
We'll get to Andrew Arnheimer, believe me.
I have many reasons to be interested in Mr. Arnheimer.
Andrew Anglin, and I promised we were going to kind of get back to Cantwell, and then we'll kind of wrap up here.
Oh good, I've been missing Cantwell.
There's just not enough Cantwell on this podcast.
The funny thing is that I get like kind of two responses is both like, man I really look forward to the Cantwell stuff all the time.
Like I want there to be more Cantwell.
And then I get the other side is like I'm so sick of listening to you talk about Chris Cantwell.
I don't know really.
Maybe we should do like Cantwell bonus episodes just for people who really want the like their fix of Cantwell.
I can relate because I sort of theoretically look forward to Cantwell news and then when it's when it comes I'm always just like oh no It's just kind of all the same and believe me you listening to me and whether you Jack and then let you the audience Listen to me talk about Cantwell
Kind of like you're only getting like the few minutes of listening to me talk about him I'm listening to him like six hours a week, you know So just to just to just to kind of like talk a little bit about Cantwell And there is like there is a huge thing that's been kind of going on with Cantwell It's crushing him from the outside and the inside and I'm not prepared to talk about that yet because it's still ongoing but In prep for this, so Andrew Anglin has never really had a big podcast presence, and he definitely wanted to have that.
So for a long time, he was essentially just syndicating the right stuff, the Daily Shoah and the related podcasts.
He was just kind of replicating that RSS feed on the Daily Stormer.
And so if you subscribe to sort of the Daily Stormer podcast RSS feed, it's just a repeat of the TRS feed.
And they might have had a few shows that weren't included.
I mean he he'd done a lot of stuff just kind of syndicating other people's shows.
He syndicated David Duke's show for a while.
There was a lot of kind of stuff on that level.
At a certain point the relationship between TRS and the Daily Stormer either went sour or they just wanted to disconnect for whatever reason, probably related to legalities.
I'm not sure exactly what happened there, but at a certain point, literally Anglin just removed all the links to the RSS feeds and then deleted all the old entries on the website to the TRS material and just kind of wiped it off there.
And then no one ever really kind of heard from Anglin again in terms of like appearing on a podcast.
He hasn't appeared on a podcast in a really long time, but as part of his attempt to sort of reach out and be a figure within the kind of podcasting world, he actually did try to kind of co-host a show with Cantwell for a while.
And so Cantwell does a Monday, Wednesday, Friday 7 to 9 p.m.
Pardon me, 5 to 7 p.m.
Eastern Time live show, open phones podcast.
He certainly was doing that at the time.
But Anglin, because he's in Nigeria or for whatever reason, couldn't really make that time frame.
So they ended up doing a 7 a.m.
to 9 a.m.
Thursday show.
They did this I think three or four weeks.
I listened to a couple of these.
I really do a couple Again, I I mean I hate to say if you want to understand England go listen to those episodes because it's You know, I think you've already kind of heard what England's about if you've been listening this far but it was really amazing to re-listen to Cantwell back when he was like relatively on his game and
Because at this point in 2019 in July 2019 listen to him as little listen to him read articles in like a baby talk voice and then do like Yeah at the end like like like whenever like some leftist or liberal or communist and he makes no distinction between those people makes a point that he thinks does not a lie to his appropriate like Nazi ideology, so I'm a trans person and I'd like to get my medication so that I can transition and find my true self.
That for two hours is basically what Cantwell has divulged to, um, in 2019.
But back in 2017, there was a sort of pseudo-intellectualism to him.
He could take calls, he had fans, he had people, people liked Cantwell at that point.
He was freshly out of jail, he was still, you know, he was seen as someone who had, like, fought for the cause, who had, like, gone to jail for the cause.
He really gone to jail because he, like, assaulted people.
But, you know, he was, he was, he kind of had the ability to do He could have stayed a movement leader.
He could have really built that into something.
But instead he lost everything because he can't get along with anyone for more than 20 minutes.
And just like, I mean, it's completely self-inflicted, but it was amazing for me because I'm so used to Cantwell.
Doing the baby talk voice and just being the Absolutely atrocious podcaster that he is now that going back and listening to him even a year and a half ago was like wow Like coach it like complete sentences.
This is astonishing And so it was it was kind of a delight for me that Cantwell wasn't always like this.
Um, you know, like oh wow, listen to Cantwell be like something approximating a person again So he did do a few episodes there.
I can give you the links to those.
I don't think I put them in the show notes, but you know, he did try to do a show with Cantwell.
it was pretty decent radio just because they, they kind of got along and they argued about stuff and they, they're both sort of like, they were trying to be the edgiest person on the internet.
And so they would, they would kind of egg each other on.
And, you know, as in terms of just kind of like, if you're going to make racist radio, that wasn't terrible racist radio.
I also, I mean, you know, and, and again, no, no marks against Cantwell.
Like, you know, plenty of people suffer with alcoholism, but Cantwell is a pretty well known, like raging alcoholic.
And I can only imagine trying to podcast seven in the morning was not the most fun thing he'd ever done.
Just leave it, leave it there.
Um, especially since he like chugs Red Bulls during his regular shows.
So he would chug Red Bull from 5 to 7 p.m And then have to like fall asleep and then get up at 7 a.m.
And do another show Maybe that was part of the reason and then will last a few weeks.
Who knows?
I don't know exactly what the dynamic there was but England did try to actually podcast with camel for a while And if you if you google angling Cantwell podcast, you'll find those few episodes.
It's pretty easy to locate Um, but...
And there's so much about about England that we really have not covered in this, but I do think it's worth discussing What happened after Unite the Right?
Because again if you kind of go back and listen to episode 3 and episode 4 where we discussed Unite the Right which was the rally in Charlottesville, Virginia on August 12th 2017 It's kind of the one thing that people who are not following this at all.
Remember Unite the Right and they remember Richard Smith's ring punch and they remember Unite the Right After that, after that event, after the death of Heather Heyer, there was a big shakeup in the movement.
It really kind of formed an inflection point in terms of, you know, before August 12th, 2017, there was kind of a growing coalition.
And then afterwards, they were all just squabbling with each other.
That's a really important moment.
And Andrew England, more than probably anyone else, just kind of descended into his little cubbyhole and just did his own thing.
Increasingly kind of remarketed the website instead of being kind of overtly swastikas everywhere.
It was just like American flags all over the place.
They tried to recode as American nationalists.
It's not that they were less racist.
It's not even that they were less Nazis.
They just wanted to rebrand, and they were trying to get everyone to wear red sneakers, like Converse, red Converse sneakers and baseball caps, and to wave American flags around.
And to use a term from the movement, many other people thought that was quote-unquote faking gay.
That's something you hear all the time.
If you listen to these guys, they basically thought they were kicking out of the message.
And it becomes a real sticking point within the movement.
And so that's a lot of the reason why The Daily Stormer, while it's still up and it's still hugely popular, it's much less respected than it was in 2017.
And the thing that kind of started that off, Andrew Anglin published a piece.
On August 13th, 2017, Heather Heyer, colon, woman killed in a road rage incident was a fat childless 32 year old slut.
And I have a link to this if you want to go read the whole thing.
I would encourage you, I would not encourage you to, but feel free.
It is filled with basically the same things that you kind of already know if you listen to episode three of this podcast about all the horrible things that everybody said about Heather Heyer.
Andrew Anglin was absolutely at the forefront of that, that she was a fat and childless and a communist, and she actually was a member of the Wobblies, so I mean, there's at least some justification for calling her a communist, although I don't think that, you know, you and I would consider her one.
But she was definitely a leftist and an anti-racist, and she was, from all accounts, a wonderful person, and fuck you, Andrew Anglin, and everybody else who ever thought that she wasn't worth living because she was overweight.
Agreed.
In response to this, Cloudflare.
Now, Cloudflare is a service that prevents what are called distributed denial of service, DDoS attacks.
If you ever go to a website and it doesn't load right away and it kind of gives you a little like cloud logo and it kind of spins and it says testing browser, you know, wait five seconds or whatever, that's what the service does.
So a distributed denial of service is essentially hackers going in and creating a bunch of requests on a website from a whole lot of different IP addresses.
So you can't just block one IP address to make it so that nobody else can access the website.
And it's really common kind of hacking technique for people who produce controversial material.
Cloudflare services a whole lot of really awful people They provide the service to, I mean, I actually don't know their exact client list.
And again, I don't want to be sued by Cloudflare, so I'm not going to make claims.
But they service a whole lot of people that are very, very unsavory.
And one of those people was was the Daily Stormer.
And a couple of days after on the 16th of August, they terminated the service.
And this is actually their justification for that.
Our terms of service reserve the right for us to terminate users of our network at our sole discretion.
A tipping point for us making this decision was that the team behind Daily Stormer made the claim that we were secretly supporters of their ideology.
Our team has been thorough and I've had thoughtful discussions for years about what the right policy was on censoring.
Like a lot of people, we've felt angry at these hateful people for a long time, but we have followed the law and remain content neutral as a network.
We cannot remain neutral after these claims of secret support by Cloudflare.
So essentially, it's not the content of what you were... it's not that you said Heather Heyer deserved to die that we terminated your service for.
It's because you said that we secretly agreed with you.
And you can make up your own mind about how you feel about that.
But that's their claim.
Interestingly, as far as we know, no other website had ever been a client of Cloudflare that had then been kicked off of the service and been terminated in that way.
Furthermore, the Daily Stormer went through, after Unite the Right, almost uniquely, went through a number of, like, they lost their domain registry.
They lost their, like, .com address.
And there's a lot of the difference between a domain registrar and a registry and sort of, like, the high-level domains.
And there's a whole lot of technical stuff.
I don't want to get into because I'm not 100% on top of it and I don't want to make the technical errors, etc.
But they had to scramble for internet service many, many times over the course of the next several months.
They lost about 50 top-level domains, which is why now they're on DailyStormer.name.
For a while they were on DailyStormer.wang.
They were on a whole lot of other ones, about 50 of them from what I understand.
And so that's why they're not at DailyStormer.com and they were always at on the dark web using like the Tor browser You can always kind of go and visit them But yeah, so so they claim to be quote-unquote the most censored website on the internet because of this When like there are plenty of like people producing for instance Pornography that most people don't like who have gone through similar processes.
So, you know kind of whatever but This is their claim to be victims of the free speech, the anti-free speech, regressive left, etc, etc.
Oh, it's really sad.
Yeah, it's very sad that these terrible people who oppose free speech would be so mean to people who have done really nothing wrong at the Daily Stormer.
Yeah, it is.
There is a piece in Wired that kind of goes through the Cloudflare issue in a little bit more detail, and I would recommend that.
Wrapping up here, just kind of getting to the end of the episode, and I know this one has been a little bit heavy on quotes and a little bit light on jokes, and I do apologize for that, but what else can you really say about Andrew Anglin than just, like, read the things that he actually has to say and the other things that people have said about him, ultimately?
But I did want to read this last little piece from that Atlantic piece, which I do recommend that people read, and it is a result from the optics debate.
And this is during that process when he was kind of losing all the domain registrars and etc.
His panic was almost palpable as he tried to walk back the fearsome reputation he'd cultivated.
I'm not actually a neo-Nazi white supremacist, nor do I know what that is, he wrote in mid-September.
He claimed that his violent rhetoric was never sincere, but simply a way to mock those who slap a Nazi label on anyone who stands up for white people's rights, or refuses to believe the stupid lies about Hitler, or rejects the alleged Holocaust narrative.
England now shared what he said had been his true editorial approach all along.
Ironic Nazism disguised as real Nazism disguised as ironic Nazism.
Five days later, he posted about the world being ruled either by reptiles from other dimensions or some other type of reptilian or insectoid race of aliens.
Where the irony started and stopped was hard to know.
I emailed Anglin one more time asking for an interview.
He didn't answer.
The next day, he wrote a post calling for the mass execution of journalists.
I want to see pieces of journalists' brains splattered across walls, he wrote.
Well, we could talk about England for four more hours, probably.
I feel like that's kind of it, right there.
It'd be the same stuff over and over again, wouldn't it?
And as vile and disgusting as he is, he's also kind of pathetic.
You see that a lot with these guys and I think that I mean that kind of combination of being kind of vile empathetic I mean, I feel like that's kind of my overwhelming impression of a lot of them England Steps closer to that like I'm the you know I actually am the evil genius Nazi that you know all the rest of these guys pretend to be he Kind of edges a little bit more closely on that and he he steps clever kind of closer on that razor edge and
But he's not really, I mean he's not worse than Richard Spencer, he's just a little bit more overt about saying it out loud, but saying the quiet part loud in a way, saying the quiet parts loud in a way that makes it sound like he's not meaning it.
And that's such the essential methodology of this movement.
It's such a thing that even the little 40 follower chuds who decide to bother me try to give me this kind of bullshit.
And, again, if people could just recognize this as what it is, and this is not being said in good faith.
They're funnying with you.
They're trying to troll you.
They're trying to confuse you.
They're throwing squid ink in your face.
They're throwing chaff and hoping that you'll chase after them and they're going to laugh at you when you do.
And that's what this episode is about.
This is who England is.
This is who the movement is.
He is he is a pathetic little loser Who you know endorses like literal Conan ism despite the fact that he's you know, like five foot seven and you know, I I limp-wristed, you know, limp-armed little guy, you know.
There's nothing wrong with that being physically weak, but this is certainly about some Adonis from every photo I've seen of him.
Yeah, that's England.
The psychology, the operative psychology throughout this movement is the psychology of the school bully.
I think that's – so many people seem to think that you can engage with these people on a sort of constructive – you know, if we can just find the right way to engage with them, then if we can just find the key, then we can get in there and we can have the rational, constructive discussion.
No.
You can't.
Because they're not interested in that.
The ones that are capable of it aren't interested in it.
That's not what they're here for.
Exactly.
And yeah.
That's Andrew Englund.
That's how we feel about him.
There's way more.
He debated Sargon.
He debated Sargon once and utterly defeated Sargon in a debate.
Which tells you less about Englund than it tells you how disgusting and stupid Sargon is.
But that happened.
He debated Vox Dei.
Defeated Vox Dei.
Englund is very good at sort of like in one of the One of the episodes that Anglin and Cantwell did together, Christian Piccolini was trying to reach Cantwell at the time.
Christian Piccolini is one of the hope after hate types who's trying to get people to leave the movement, trying to reach out to people as a person.
And he had tried to reach out to Cantwell.
Okay, well has a long thing about you know, like I you tried to reach out to me in this way and I said, okay, but you didn't want to talk about the actual issues.
You didn't want to debate the Jewish question.
You didn't want to reach out to me in an intellectual way.
You just wanted to talk about my personal life and my feelings and I'm not interested in that and it's like, yeah, well, you know, whatever.
But Piccolini actually called into one of those episodes and they hung up on him because they basically called him like a lying Jew or whatever.
England doesn't believe Christian Piccolini is actually white.
I think he thinks he's Pakistani.
Or he claims to believe he's Pakistani and at this point who can tell the difference?
But that was also kind of an interesting moment.
That Piccolini is talking to both Anglin and Cantwell and they basically just refuse to talk to him.
They have a justification for why they refuse to talk to him, but I mean they did just kind of outwardly refuse to talk to him, which is interesting.
Is Christian Piccolini the guy who talks about, I think I've seen this guy give a lecture or a TED talk or something, is he the guy that talks about these people having, what was the phrase he uses, potholes?
Like, something where they're going along and their feet just get stuck, you know?
And the thing you have to do to reach these people is to find their pothole.
And he talks very eloquently about his own.
Right, right.
Yeah, I mean, he's a former white supremacist.
He was kind of a former gang member.
Kind of a white power gang member who got out of the movement and again kind of England's response to that is like well You're just some low IQ gang member who never really understood anything and you just you know what like, you know He's shitting on Piccolini's intelligence.
And you know, if you've listened to Piccolini talk, this is not a dumb guy This is a just a quiet perfectly reasonable person ultimately they shit on anyone's intelligence who disagrees with them because how could you How could you disagree with the reality of race and be a reasonably intelligent person?
The disagreement is adequate proof of the stupidity, isn't it?
What an epistemology they've got there.
And this was when Cantwell was doing the clever thing, you know?
This is when he was on his smart level, by the way.
No, it's wonderfully sort of hermetically sealed, this way of looking at the world.
They seal off all the cracks so nothing can get through.
I think we should wrap up here.
I think it's time to wrap up the episode.
Again, sorry, a little bit darker.
I was expecting this to be a little bit funnier, but then you realize you're really just reading a bunch of terrible stuff.
It's hard to even joke about it.
It's really just kind of, well, that's just disgusting, you know?
Next week if it works out.
I don't like to announce guests in advance in case there is some scheduling conflict and There may be a scheduling conflict in particular with this one I do have someone who you will definitely want to hear who is definitely coming on in a near future episode hopefully next week and
Hopefully I don't want to say anything more about that, but like definitely tune in that's gonna be a great conversation when that happens after that It will either be kind of the week after that or maybe two weeks depending on scheduling and kind of prep time and etc I do actually want to kind of make the effort and do a deep dive into a book and I think it's time to do Kevin Macdonald and the culture of critique and Jewish questions and
Um, anyone who claims that we're not going to, that we're not looking at the, uh, the real intellectual weights of this movement.
Uh, yeah, we're going to be Kevin McDonald next time.
And, uh, you know, this is a guy with a PhD in, uh, psychology, uh, evo psych guy.
So, uh, look forward to that.
We're gonna talk about another shithead named Nathan Kofnes who refutes Kevin Macdonald, but he does it by leaning into race realist intellectual dark web kind of bullshit.
So yeah, this is not the kind of refutation quote-unquote that is really very helpful there, Nathan Kofnes.
But yeah, we're gonna get into both of these guys just a little bit, but we're gonna specifically focus on the culture critique and There will be references.
There will be footnotes.
We're going to dig into Kevin Macdonald's footnotes.
It's a hell of a ride.
Look forward to it.
Yeah.
We're going to really grapple with the intellectual fact.
Because this is a very important book, isn't it, for a lot of these people.
This has come up a lot in previous episodes.
This is the book that people say convinces them that Jews rule the world.
Like the Jewish question.
This is the book.
This is the text, more so than even Mein Kampf.
It's really like the culture of critique, the bell curve, and Mein Kampf are the three books that people say, I read that book and it convinced me to be a Nazi.
Like, that's it.
Those are the three.
Of those that were convinced by a book, a lot of it is also like I saw a podcast or I found a funny website like the daily stormer etc etc um you know so so but but of those that kind of read books and are convinced by the quote-unquote intellectual arguments the cultural critique is absolutely the most important of them so it's worth covering it so we're going to cover it okay well look forward to that um yeah i want to i want to echo daniel's sort of apology from earlier about this episode being a little bit a little bit depressing and and being a bit banter light we've
We have had some problems with a time delay in our conversation where it's been difficult for me to know when to jump in.
But really, I think this was kind of an episode where I needed to step back and just let Daniel talk anyway.
Although that's been a bit unfair on him, really.
It's been a bit rough on his voice box, this episode.
He's risen to the challenge beautifully.
So yeah, that was episode 23, and we have got a very special guest coming up, hopefully next time, if not at some point, so really do keep your eyes and ears open for that.
We've got quite a few guests kind of lined up for coming months But we've got you know like really really not that Samantha and CV are not amazing guests as well But we've got some we've got some people I think you're really gonna look forward to hearing from other than Samantha and CV I'm very excited about some of the guests we have coming up people with like Reputations are gonna come and talk to us which is astonishing, but you know Yeah.
So keep your eyes open on Twitter for my account, which is at underscore Jack underscore Graham underscore, and Daniel's account, which is at Daniel E Harper, because we're going to be trailing this, I think, once it's definite and it's in the can and it's on the way, we're going to be promoting these episodes.
Check us out.
Twitter, Patreon, etc.
Give us some money if you can.
If not, we understand.
Keep on fighting the good fight, and we'll see you next time.
I don't understand if you don't give me money.
If you don't give me money, I hate you.
And I mean that.
I'm not being ironic.
Almost as much as Andrew Anglin hates women.
