But to Yanis Varoufakis, the Great Greek politician and Sam Harris, the atheist and we're going to call him a philosopher.
I'm not being derisory.
I admire him very much.
I think that is what we call Sam Harris now.
Anyway, this week we're talking to a man whose religion precedes monotheism.
A great shaman, a pagan lord, a man who if he suddenly grew antlers, I'd hardly be surprised, even if he grew them out of his knees or his groin.

Russell, what kind of malice do you have inflicted now upon society?
I'm going to exercise.
(laughing)
Why are you asking me that?
Malice.
Nice.
Bad ice.
Just ice.
Justice.
Just ice.
Don't you think that the ice, when you go into the ice bath, it's like a judge?
Yeah.
You let go, you surrender and tell what is up on your mind.
Then you will be set free and strong and healthy.
I'm going to open up a center in Cumberland.
I just decided that together with Enum, a place where people get a real uplift of their spirit, not only through the ice baths and the breathing, but also music, art, beautiful gardens, like Celestine Prophecy, but with two legs on the ground.
And you should come to my place here because it's beautiful.
I like to play with you like children, jump from the rock, go into the fire pit, enjoy the scenery, swim, saunas.
The whole thing.
So, yeah, I'm into that.
And then we make it first one, and then we see how that works.
That dynamic, spiritual dynamic, is absolutely what the world needs.
A place where they truly uplift neurologically the spirit.
Sentences like that we have to make all over the world.
I would like to create a coven, like a place where we can come together and experiment and play.
I was so pleased with the way that our community event, and I thought that you and Vandana Shiva represented the perfect parents for a coming together.
That you are the perfect embodiment of the necessary spirit that has been submerged.
I was reading today, Wim, about the cult of Dionysus and how Dionysus always represented the powerful energy
gifted to mankind by God that can be chaotic and can be dangerous if it is not harnessed and understood.
You, I believe, to be a representative of this great shamanic power
that has for a long time been pushed underground.
For a long time we've lived in the rational model.
Maybe it was necessary to live in the rational model, to create great democracies and republics, to create technology and science and medicine.
Maybe it was necessary to cede to rationalism for a couple of thousand years.
But now it seems it's necessary to bring back this spirit of play, this great power.
In your own life, Wim, I find it hard to imagine you prior to becoming this creature, Wim Hof.
Tell me what you were like before the sad death of your wife, Godresta Sol, which I imagine to be significant in this transformation.
And was there ever a time where you were like a regular guy that just believed the mainstream media?
That just believed that the purpose of life was to get a job?
That believed the purpose of life was to acquire material things and to do what you were told?
Did that Wim Hof ever exist?
And if so, how did you become this shamanic entity?
Yes, from 12 years old.
I think I've always been different.
And that actually brings me back to my birth, my delivery, which was done by my mother in the cold of the hall, almost suffocated with the words, Oh God, let this child live.
I will make him a missionary.
And she only told me 30 years later that he taught that.
And then I began to understand the pieces of the puzzle, why I was always completely different, very different of my identical twin brother.
So when I was 12, I was looking into psychology, Hinduism, Buddhism.
I became a vegetarian there when vegetarianism was an odd thing to do.
Was crazy.
Was being a black sheep.
Was, yeah, just crazy.
Abnormal.
You've been looked after like... So I just started over there.
And there I said to myself, I pledged there an oath, and I told myself, if the world thinks that being sick, abuse, pollution, disease, depression, darkness, wars, exploitation, and unbridled exploitation of this world is a normal thing, I think it is sick.
And I'm gonna do something about it.
What?
I don't know.
I just do it.
And so that was a 12 year old.
And very silent, of course.
And I was very timid.
I was a very subtle, fine guy.
I made my own music with a guitar.
So very nice.
But also, you know, very firm in that belief, in that faith.
And that faith is like growing every moment.
A drop.
That becomes, after so many, 50 years ago, now it has become a tsunami.
And that is a metaphor for the possible wavelength where I've arrived in my own brain, the neurology, and changed it so that I'm able to cut through the existing paradigm.
From paradigm to paradise.
That's my only aim.
And yeah, that itinerary, I have sacrificed a whole lot.
I passed through experiences I never wished nobody to experience.
But you know, catharsis is catharsis.
You are made to become ready, to become a vessel, to become Align with the omnipresent wavelength that makes you able to connect with the omnipresence, with the omnipotency, and with the omniscience.
And now, after 50 years, or 51, 2 years after Apollo, With all the NASA equipment and Cape Canaveral, Houston, the rockets and all those things, there is more in the iPhone now than all that together.
And that is the fruit of our mind.
So that neurology in humans, without them knowing, It's very powerful, but it needs to be sparked.
It needs to be connected neurologically.
That's why I work right now with great neuroscientists and surgeons, and I will show Beyond any doubt that we are able, within two minutes, like Henry V, how to win the war, you know, the arching and all that.
That one, amen, this to those, because we are coming for peace.
The aim of war is peace.
Only we bring it through love and understanding.
I will show that within two minutes, We are able to go voluntarily, willfully that is, into the deepest part of the brain and activate it robustly and then I take a novice and I make him do the same because the neurology is there but it needs awakening and that's why you and me take care of and that unbridled energy I got
Because of an invocation coming to my mother, being innocent, naive, yet very strong, in the fear of me dying as a nothing, right there, purple, I came to the world with that invocation.
Oh God, let this child live.
I will make him a missionary.
That's a tattoo.
That's a tattoo, and it changes you, and you do not even... I was not even aware why I was always in love with the strange, with far away other cultures, other languages, traditions, and all.
But from very young on, it took me... It was my mother.
