Real Coffe - Scott Adams - Episode 378 Scott Adams: Pelosi’s SOTU Strategic Blunder Aired: 2019-01-17 Duration: 04:59 === News Story Sip (04:59) === [00:00:00] Yes, it's me. [00:00:01] Twice. In one day. [00:00:03] Twice. But this is just going to be a single topic. [00:00:09] It's a hot story and it's fun. [00:00:13] So I wanted to get on here and share it. [00:00:16] Alright, as soon as we get a thousand people, we'll jump into it. [00:00:20] You have fresh coffee? [00:00:21] Well then join me for the second simultaneous sip of the day. [00:00:26] Grab your beverage. [00:00:28] Let's go! Yeah, that's cold coffee. [00:00:34] That simultaneous sip seemed like a much better idea until I tasted it. [00:00:39] Alright, so the news story is this. [00:00:41] Nancy Pelosi has suggested that the President of the United States is no longer welcome, I would say, to give the State of the Union to the House, the typical way it's done. [00:00:53] She claims, rather disingenuously, that there's a security issue because maybe the security won't be paid and therefore they would have bad security. [00:01:04] Of course that's not true. [00:01:07] Because the security professionals are not going to let the President of the United States get killed because their paycheck was late. [00:01:16] I think you need a little bit of trust At that level of professionalism, by the time you're chosen to protect the President of the United States, you're a little beyond the, well, let's let him die today. [00:01:31] I didn't get paid. [00:01:33] I don't think that's going to happen. [00:01:34] But that's not my point. [00:01:35] I'll let the pundits make the obvious points. [00:01:39] Here's my point. [00:01:41] Just think of the situation here. [00:01:44] The State of the Union, the way it is typically done and the way Nancy Pelosi says she doesn't want it done, is the most boring presentation in the world. [00:01:56] I think we all agree with that, right? [00:01:58] Many of us will watch it because it's present, but really it's the most boring setting, the most boring, controlled, prompter-reading situation you could ever have. [00:02:10] And it's not really even that good visually, because you can see half of the people acting like they don't like it. [00:02:18] So half of the people aren't even going to be clapping. [00:02:21] So this is really... [00:02:23] The worst situation for this president. [00:02:27] Now, here's the fun part. [00:02:29] Apparently the White House has not directly addressed this lack of invitation. [00:02:36] Now, Rand Paul has said, hey, bring it over to the Senate. [00:02:39] But the Senate would just be another boring place to do it. [00:02:44] And it would be sort of feeling like you gave in to Nancy Pelosi. [00:02:49] She got what she wanted and you still have a boring State of the Union. [00:02:55] Nobody wins. Although I appreciate that Rand Paul, like always, he always has the best, sort of the most, you know, freshest ideas on a lot of different stuff. [00:03:05] So I continue to be impressed that he seems more solution-oriented than politically oriented. [00:03:13] But here's what I wanted to get on here and have a laugh with you about. [00:03:20] This president... [00:03:22] The most entertaining president of all time, even if you don't like him, you're going to agree with that, right? [00:03:28] He's the most theatrical, the most performance-oriented, the most show-must-go-on, the most bring-me-the-attention, the most interesting, just the most... [00:03:49] Entertainment-oriented president of all time. [00:03:52] And everybody would agree with that, right? [00:03:54] Both sides would agree with this point. [00:03:56] And they just allowed him to be free. [00:04:04] They just released the Kraken. [00:04:09] He's the most entertaining person in the world who is only stopped in his entertainment value Hello? [00:04:30] Hello? Hello? Yes, be right now. [00:04:35] All right, I had to go do something. [00:04:37] But I just want to suggest that they freed the president to make this an entertaining event, which will be the best state of the union of all times. [00:04:45] Now, I don't know that he'll go that way, but Pelosi's play is this huge strategic blunder in which he gets to go from a boring thing to maybe the best thing that ever happened. [00:04:57] That's all I need to say today.
