Real Coffe - Scott Adams - Episode 54 - President Trump’s Iran Deal Announcement Aired: 2018-06-16 Duration: 04:21 === Quick Reaction to Iran Deal (04:21) === [00:00:00] Hey everybody! [00:00:11] You're probably wondering about this Iran deal. [00:00:18] So I thought I would tell you about it. [00:00:21] Give you my immediate reaction. [00:00:23] This will be a quick one. [00:00:25] Just a quick reaction to the President's announcement. [00:00:28] So, not too surprising. [00:00:29] He said he would do it. [00:00:30] He did it. But it's sort of the pull-out that's not really a pull-out because, obviously, he's willing to renegotiate. [00:00:39] So, the parts that I liked about it in terms of persuasion... [00:00:43] I'll let you look at my dog. [00:00:47] In terms of persuasion, the parts I liked were... [00:00:50] He drew a picture of Iran after the mullahs, or at least with better leadership, and Iran in which they're prosperous and respected by the world. [00:01:04] So he's clearly doing his contrast persuasion, and we don't see it done this well by other people. [00:01:11] Where he draws a picture of this great situation that they have in front of them if they make the right choices versus a crushed economy if they go the other way. [00:01:23] So I love the contrast part of it. [00:01:26] I'm still calling bullshit on sponsors of terrorism. [00:01:34] Because I think they're bending the definition a little bit because it sounds like it includes standing militaries. [00:01:40] So if they're helping a militia or Hezbollah or folks in Yemen, Those are kind of standing armies. [00:01:55] Now you can call them terrorism, but we usually think of terrorism as the loner with the gun or the bomb. [00:02:03] So it's a different kind of terrorism if that's what they're talking about. [00:02:06] So I object to that characterization of it because I think it just adds some noise to the situation. [00:02:16] So I think he laid out the case. [00:02:20] The strongest part of the case goes like this. [00:02:23] You can't let a country that chants death to America have nuclear weapons. [00:02:32] You know, if he had only said that and nothing else, I would have been sold. [00:02:37] I didn't really need to hear their supporting terrorism. [00:02:43] You know, that's good, but I didn't need to hear it because I was already, you know, you had me at death to America plus nuclear weapons. [00:02:52] There's no scenario in which that, you know, is a comfortable situation. [00:02:58] So there might be some questions about what trouble are they up to, aside from having missiles that we don't like, which we're not really part of the deal, apparently. [00:03:11] And having the capability to have nukes, which we don't like. [00:03:15] So those two things are good things to make sure that we tighten up. [00:03:22] But I'm not buying the supporting terrorism unless you give me examples. [00:03:27] And those examples have to be not standing militaries. [00:03:32] Now I understand that these standing militaries, at least in the case of Hezbollah, We're a direct threat to Israel, so we can't abide by that either. [00:03:43] But if that's what we mean when we say supporting terrorism, I think we could just say supports Hezbollah. [00:03:50] Hezbollah has done X things against Israel since the deal was signed. [00:03:57] So I need some specifics. [00:04:04] It does seem to me that the president is credible in this and he's probably smart to at least push on the deal and see if we can get something better. [00:04:16] So that's all I have for now and I'm gonna go to the gym and do something else.
