Rubin Report - Dave Rubin - AOC Accidentally Reveals How Dumb She Is - Dr. Drew & Dave Rubin’s Reaction Is Perfect Aired: 2026-05-13 Duration: 26:50 === Friendly Chat With Dr Drew (10:11) === [00:00:00] Guys, I'm in LA right now doing a bunch of media hits. [00:00:02] So instead of a normal Ruben Report today, we've got my chat with Dr. Drew on his show. [00:00:07] We'll be doing the same thing with my friend Adam Carolla tomorrow. [00:00:10] And quick reminder, join me June 11th in Miami, daveruben.com slash events, Ruben DeSantis, Carolla, Shapiro, Jillian Michaels, and more. [00:00:21] Enjoy. [00:00:22] Please welcome Dave Ruben in studio with us. [00:00:25] We coerced him back to California. [00:00:28] Find him on YouTube at Ruben Report, X Ruben Report, Instagram. [00:00:32] It's still room and report. [00:00:34] Room and report everywhere. [00:00:35] But you're here to talk about an event in Florida that I wish to hell I could be a part of. [00:00:39] I tried to get you on. [00:00:40] Before I tell the kind of A list people we got on this thing, you got the first call. [00:00:44] You and my actual friends, you, Sage, and Jillian, got the first call. [00:00:48] First of all, also mention actual friends. [00:00:50] Yeah, that's what I was going to say. [00:00:51] Thank you for including me in actual friends. [00:00:52] That has been nothing but a pleasure, top to bottom. [00:00:54] It's been great spending time with you, which I always have enjoyed. [00:00:57] But to get to know Sage and Jillian better has been really a pleasure. [00:01:00] I love, well, It goes both ways. [00:01:03] I mean, I thank you for doing it. [00:01:04] And I love doing the show. [00:01:06] I love doing the show. [00:01:07] You know, all of us, even though we're having some discussions about it now, we've been doing it for about a year. [00:01:11] We've all been doing it for free. [00:01:12] Has it been a year? [00:01:13] Yeah, it's been about a year. [00:01:14] Oh my God. [00:01:15] Which is crazy. [00:01:16] That's crazy. [00:01:17] And I always say to you when we end the stream and then we're still on for just a second, I always say to you that the other name of the show could have been Creator Therapy or something like that because it feels like we're just venting about all of the, you know, there's all the issues that we deal with during the day, but then there's how we have to deal with the interpersonal relationships. [00:01:35] And sometimes, for example, on the show, This past week, you know, we were talking about Megyn Kelly, who we all know to some degree or another. [00:01:41] And do you want to talk about friends or former friends? [00:01:44] So to vent about some of that stuff. [00:01:47] And what I liked about that particular conversation is some of us are ambivalent. [00:01:51] We like Megyn, but we don't like how she treated you. [00:01:53] We understand how you're feeling. [00:01:54] So it's just a really friendly conversation. [00:01:56] And that was what I wanted to do. [00:01:58] The last thing that I would want to do is just another political show or just another purely culture war thing. [00:02:04] I wanted to do something that I felt would allow people to see us a little bit differently and kind of. [00:02:10] Just get us to exercise or excise some demons. [00:02:14] And I think it's working nicely. [00:02:16] I hope so. [00:02:16] The other thing is, I think you invited some people that are mostly moderate in a lot of areas. [00:02:21] Well, yeah. [00:02:22] I mean, because I don't care, because even though I'm thought of as a right wing maniac, which is hilarious. [00:02:26] No, I think of you as moderate too. [00:02:28] Yeah. [00:02:28] Because we come from a similar line of thinking. [00:02:31] Classical liberalism. [00:02:34] That's what I was going to say. [00:02:35] Most people are classically liberal. [00:02:37] Most people believe in individual rights and laissez faire economics and get the government off your back. [00:02:41] And that's what the founders of this country believed in. [00:02:44] That's what. [00:02:44] All the Enlightenment thinkers really came around to that led to, you know, 350 plus years of unbelievable human flourishing that we seem to be on the precipice of reversing. [00:02:55] But in any event, I did want you at this Florida thing. [00:02:58] Jillian will be there, but it's going to be, we're going to do a live Ruben report that day. [00:03:02] So we're going to write the show that morning. [00:03:03] It will, that will be our show for the day, right? [00:03:05] Which is what we do when I go on the road. [00:03:07] We did Australia, a bunch of shows out there that morning. [00:03:09] We write it. [00:03:10] It's the only, you know, I don't do a rehearsal. [00:03:11] It's just get up there and let's see what happens. [00:03:14] And of course, Ron DeSantis is going to be there. [00:03:16] And I really, the whole idea of the show is to celebrate. [00:03:19] What this guy has done in the free state of Florida. [00:03:22] Yeah, because, you know, he's coming up on the ending of his two terms. [00:03:26] We don't have to do the whole how great Florida thing is. [00:03:27] Everyone gets it. [00:03:29] And I wanted people to see him in a different light. [00:03:31] You know, I've gotten to know him in a way that people don't. [00:03:34] I've been to dinner, you know, private dinners with him where he kicks his feet up on the table after and has a whiskey and has a cigar and talks baseball. [00:03:41] And I met his wife too. [00:03:42] She's really, truly, truly a caring person, not somebody who has to care to make herself feel good. [00:03:48] She just looks at things and goes, no, that's what we got to do better. [00:03:50] And gone through her own health journey and all of this stuff. [00:03:53] And I just wanted people to celebrate that a little bit. [00:03:55] And then, have you heard of this guy, Adam Carolla? [00:03:57] I think maybe he's going to be there. [00:03:58] Yeah, Carolla. [00:03:59] Well, I couldn't get Drew. [00:04:01] Could not get the Drew. [00:04:02] I just left him like an hour ago. [00:04:04] Sorry, we'll be at the F1 in Monte Carlo. [00:04:07] I just felt that being in Monte Carlo was going to be better than being with Dave Rubin and Ron DeSantis. [00:04:12] So we're going to set that up a while ago. [00:04:15] To be fair, Corolla's going to open up with some stand up. [00:04:17] He's going to warm up the crowd. [00:04:19] Then I'll do the live Rubin report. [00:04:20] Then we're going to have Ben Shapiro and Jillian Michaels, which I thought, what a wacky duo that is. [00:04:25] He's talking so fast. [00:04:26] And, you know, Jillian is sort of, she talks in sort of these like rhythmic, So, we'll do a little debate with them. [00:04:31] There's going to be tequila and we're going to do giveaways and QA and all the stuff. [00:04:35] And I just want to be a celebrity. [00:04:36] How do you do it? [00:04:37] Where is it? [00:04:37] How do we go? [00:04:38] Oh, daverubin.com slash events. [00:04:39] It's at the Fillmore in Miami Beach. [00:04:41] Fillmore is a great theater, which if you saw Bill Maher's last HBO special, it was at the Fillmore. [00:04:46] I did the Fillmore years ago with Jordan Peterson. [00:04:47] Beautiful theater. [00:04:49] And it's going to be, you know, it's like a couple thousand people and it's going to be a friendly, fun night. [00:04:54] And as I always tell people, if you get the meet and greet tickets, You are allowed to hug me for one second. [00:05:03] But if you are with someone else and they are willing to forego their hug, you can do the two second hug. [00:05:08] Because what I find is married women really want to hug me. [00:05:11] The husband's not that interested in hugging me. [00:05:13] Single guys don't want to hug me. [00:05:15] But if there's a married couple, the woman always wants that extra hug. [00:05:19] And the husbands are usually willing to do it. [00:05:21] Married woman here, maybe she can explain that. [00:05:22] Susan, can you explain that? [00:05:24] She gave me a rather generous hug when I walked in. [00:05:28] Why do married women want to hug Dave Rubin? [00:05:30] You know, I'm. [00:05:31] Because, yeah, he's sweet and loving. [00:05:35] Yeah, you're nice. [00:05:36] Speaking of nice, Kroll's got a great, nice stand up routine. [00:05:40] Yes. [00:05:40] Which you hear, you know, Trump is trying to steal it now. [00:05:43] Oh, it's fantastic. [00:05:44] Yeah. [00:05:45] Wait, I think you were the one that showed it to me first. [00:05:46] You're talking about with him talking about how ICE should be nice, right? [00:05:49] It should be the National Immigration Service. [00:05:52] Well, did you hear that Trump is now using that? [00:05:54] And then Trump does, if it makes sense, he'll do it. [00:05:57] So it makes perfect sense. [00:05:58] So why not? [00:05:59] So Trump then used the joke. [00:06:01] That we should call it nice. [00:06:02] I hate nice. [00:06:03] And then Tom Homan was on a TV show a couple days ago and they were asking him about it. [00:06:07] And he's like, Well, Trump came up with nice. [00:06:09] And I was like, That was Corolla. [00:06:12] Bruce sent me the thing. [00:06:14] You know, Corolla and Trump have a relationship. [00:06:16] So I'm sure he could notify him. [00:06:17] Like, Hey, be sure to give me a couple of nods. [00:06:19] As Tucker Carlson once said to me before he went completely bananas, in this biz, you just steal, you don't give credit. [00:06:25] I've never felt that way, but, you know, a certain set of people. [00:06:27] How did we manage to get you in California? [00:06:30] And how has it been? [00:06:31] How did you get me here? [00:06:33] Well, I'm doing press for the big show that we're doing on June 11th, daverubin.com slash event. [00:06:38] So, just I was with Billy Bush this morning and you, and I'm going, I'm heading to Larry Elder right after this, which is great. [00:06:44] I'm doing this Jubilee show tomorrow, which I was telling you a little bit about before. [00:06:48] It's this huge YouTube channel where I'm going to sit in the middle of a circle. [00:06:51] No, it's not live streamed, but I sit, and so it's me, like sort of MAGA guy versus 20 far lefties. [00:06:59] And I bring up the topic, and then they get to run in and challenge me and debate me. [00:07:03] So, that'll be interesting to say the least. [00:07:05] Yeah. [00:07:06] And, Yeah. [00:07:07] And then a bunch of other hits. [00:07:09] And, you know, I lived here for eight years. [00:07:10] And as I always tell everybody, six years of it were great. [00:07:13] I mean, that's when we became friends and we used to host great dinners and met so many cool people. [00:07:17] And there was something great about LA at that time. [00:07:19] And then the day COVID started, I knew it. [00:07:23] I just knew it on day one. [00:07:24] You did. [00:07:25] Yeah. [00:07:25] It took me about a year to really wake up to what was going on. [00:07:28] I just could feel it on day one. [00:07:30] But the day, this sounds ridiculous, but this is true. [00:07:33] It was on day 15 when I really knew it. [00:07:36] So I knew from day one, I knew I just after two weeks to bend the curve. [00:07:39] But, but you know why? [00:07:40] Because we're watching, I guess. [00:07:41] Kid you not, you're gonna say this is crazy, but this is true. [00:07:45] On day 15, after two weeks to flatten the curve, we were watching the Golden Girls on TV land, okay? [00:07:51] And it has commercials, old school cable commercials. [00:07:55] And suddenly, we're watching the Golden Girls as we did every Sunday. [00:07:58] And then a commercial comes on for the new normal. [00:08:01] And I thought, wait a minute, wait a minute. [00:08:03] I know how this business operates. [00:08:04] You can't just make a commercial overnight. [00:08:06] This thing was in the can, this thing had been produced. [00:08:09] So, how, when was this produced that you're telling me on day 15 after it was supposed to be two weeks to slow the spread that I'm seeing commercials for the new normal and don't shake hands anymore? [00:08:19] And that's when I was like, this is not going to work. [00:08:21] You know, we tried to stay. [00:08:23] I fought very hard. [00:08:24] You know, I fought for the recall of Gavin Newsom. [00:08:26] I ended up campaigning. [00:08:27] With Larry Elder. [00:08:28] I mean, what a cool evolution. [00:08:31] The guy who wakes me up years before I end up campaigning with him to get rid of Newsome. [00:08:36] Obviously, that didn't work out. [00:08:38] And then after the recall election, I just said, I'm leaving. [00:08:42] And I took two companies out. [00:08:43] I didn't know if any of my employees were going to come with me. [00:08:45] Every single person came with me. [00:08:46] Oh, wow. [00:08:47] And most of them are still with me. [00:08:49] And we sit in envy. [00:08:50] And you're here. [00:08:51] And we're here. [00:08:52] We mock you for it on actual friends. [00:08:54] But Spencer Proud, who we're going to talk about after the break, articulated something that I have been. [00:09:00] Saying, which is, it's worth fighting for. [00:09:02] I've been here my whole life. [00:09:03] It's worth fighting for. [00:09:04] I don't like having to fight for it. [00:09:05] I don't like what's going on. [00:09:06] Orange County is still, you can still live a life in Orange County. [00:09:09] Yeah. [00:09:10] Two of my sons are down there. [00:09:11] And in the meantime, let's see if we can. [00:09:14] Listen, I'm not saying it's not worth fighting for. [00:09:16] Everything, everything good. [00:09:17] New York, I spent 20 years of my life in New York, and New York City is worth fighting for. [00:09:22] You know, it's a matter of what you can do at a certain point in your life. [00:09:27] And I fought very hard during those COVID years and I had that crazy debate with. [00:09:31] Gloria Allred and they wouldn't even let me into the Fox studio to debate her about COVID. [00:09:36] And on air, the most famous civil rights attorney in America asked me if I was vaxxed. [00:09:41] I mean, how insane everything went. [00:09:44] And then the Newsome thing happened. [00:09:45] I just couldn't take it. [00:09:46] I just couldn't take it. [00:09:47] I can barely take it. [00:09:48] Right. [00:09:48] No, so I think sometimes it's worth fighting for something that's not working. [00:09:54] And then what I've realized in Florida is I'm fighting for something that's working and I want to keep strengthening it. [00:09:59] And those are just different things that you do at different points in your life. [00:10:01] But the key thing is that you mock your friends who stay. [00:10:05] And as Corolla has been saying forever now, that we're going to devolve into safe spaces and octagons. [00:10:10] Safe space. === Fighting For What Works (04:11) === [00:10:11] And you're the octagon, and it's working. [00:10:14] All right, we'll take a quick break. [00:10:15] We're going to talk about Spencer Pratt. [00:10:17] Dave's got to get out of here in about 10 minutes. [00:10:19] Be right back. [00:10:21] Let's talk a little mayoral candidacy and maybe even some gubernatorial candidacy. [00:10:24] We bought you a little extra time here, Drew. [00:10:26] I appreciate it. [00:10:27] I really do. [00:10:27] Let's clear it out the day. [00:10:29] Whenever I get some more time with you, and I, you know, one of my. [00:10:34] Sentinel events was having dinner in Beverly Hills with everybody and meeting Sage Steel and then watching Corolla split up, split up, baked potato with David Sacks. [00:10:45] David Sacks. [00:10:46] I offer you to people, I bring you to a private room, I'll pay for everything. [00:10:49] And I've got Corolla splitting a potato with a billionaire. [00:10:52] There's a reason Corolla is Corolla and the billionaire is a billionaire. [00:10:55] Yeah. [00:10:56] You know what I mean? [00:10:58] It does actually make perfect sense. [00:11:00] And actually, that was the last time that I saw Dennis Prager in person before he took his spill. [00:11:06] Uh, Dennis, you asked me about him off camera the other day, but he is getting better for sure. [00:11:10] And they've moved him to Florida. [00:11:12] Um, but you know, he has basically no movement below the neck right now, but his mind is there and he's Dennis and he keeps showing positive attitude. [00:11:20] Yeah, when I tell you that when we went in and to sit with him closer than you and I are right now, so you know, really getting close to him, smiling endlessly, there was I did not feel sad in any way, which that is a testament to him, not a testament to me. [00:11:34] His spirit is just incredible, and hopefully, some of these treatments they're doing will still help. [00:11:40] There's happiness research out there on people with spinal cord injuries, and they usually end up back at their baseline. [00:11:46] So that's where his baseline was. [00:11:47] That's him. [00:11:48] Wow. [00:11:49] Yeah, which is weird. [00:11:49] I can't imagine a big enough time. [00:11:51] I mean, the guy's written a gajillion books, several on happiness. [00:11:53] So it does kind of make sense. [00:11:54] Yeah. [00:11:55] You remind me of a quick story. [00:11:58] I don't know if it's for real or not, but about Rockefeller. [00:12:01] Apparently, he had a driver who would drive him to work every day and he would give him a $5 tip, a way to drop him off. [00:12:06] And the son was also driven by the same guy. [00:12:09] And the son would give him a $20 tip every day. [00:12:12] And after years of this, the driver finally went to John D. Rockefeller and said, Mr. Rockefeller, we're old friends. [00:12:19] I just am so curious about this. [00:12:22] You're very generous. [00:12:23] This is not a complaint. [00:12:23] I'm just curious. [00:12:25] You always give me $5 for my tip, and your son. [00:12:28] Always gives me 20. [00:12:31] Explain that to me. [00:12:31] And he said, My son had a father with money. [00:12:34] Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:12:37] Exactly. [00:12:38] Exactly. [00:12:39] So, you know, how, and that's back to Corolla and David Sachs. [00:12:42] Corolla came from impoverishment and still kind of lives that way. [00:12:46] Can't stand waste. [00:12:47] David Sachs got his money by being frugal, I'm sure, and managing, you know, budgets. [00:12:53] Well, you know what? [00:12:53] I've done, you mentioned locals before, and David was one of our investors in locals. [00:12:57] That's kind of how we became friends originally. [00:13:00] And I have to say, you know, there's such an endless assault that we see on billionaires now that they're just so, they fundamentally are evil. [00:13:06] Or you saw the video this week of AOC saying you could never become a billionaire unless you were. [00:13:10] That was the weird. [00:13:11] Somebody should have said to her, so explain to me, this AOC. [00:13:16] So Oprah didn't earn it. [00:13:19] What's his name that does the comedy shows? [00:13:21] Is now going to get all the late night slots. [00:13:23] And what about? [00:13:24] There are a million of black billionaires, whether it's LeBron James or Michael Jackson. [00:13:30] How did you name them? [00:13:31] They didn't earn it. [00:13:32] It's so well, it's not only profoundly ridiculous, but it's so full of a word we were talking about right before the live stream started envy. [00:13:40] Envy, you know. [00:13:42] So, I've met some. [00:13:42] So, David is a good example. [00:13:44] So, I've met some of these people that have unimaginable wealth. [00:13:47] It's actually unimaginable. [00:13:49] And some of them are really, he happens to be really, really kind and a brilliant businessman who invested. [00:13:56] I met him one time at a New Year's party for five minutes. [00:14:00] We got on the call a few days later. [00:14:02] I gave him the full pitch. [00:14:03] He invested two or three days later and it opened up. [00:14:06] Endless doors for us, and he always picked up the phone if I needed advice. [00:14:09] You're telling me this guy doesn't deserve what he has earned? [00:14:13] I and the idea that someone has so you don't have is also really, really dangerous. [00:14:18] You're a French Revolution guy, like, yes, you know what that leads to. === The Danger Of Inequality (03:58) === [00:14:23] There is not a pie that gets divided up, there are people that can build things and grow our economy and grow jobs. [00:14:30] Elon Musk, an unbelievable example of that, but but to me, the most disturbing thing of what she was saying was belies a exposes a deep lack of understanding of economics, yeah, so profound. [00:14:41] Well, it's because they just want more. [00:14:44] It's what Mom Dami's doing in New York. [00:14:46] Give me the number, Zorhan. [00:14:49] What is the number that you need to fix the problems? [00:14:53] And he can't, which is why the guy said free buses. [00:14:56] He gets in and within weeks, he announces no free buses. [00:15:00] And now there are 20 other problems that he suddenly magically has found. [00:15:04] And it's like, guys, surprise, surprise. [00:15:05] You're going to kick out everybody. [00:15:07] We're getting them all, by the way. [00:15:09] We're getting them all quite close to where I live in Florida, in Miami. [00:15:13] We're getting all of these guys. [00:15:15] And they're all coming. [00:15:16] And then you know what I'm seeing in Miami right now? [00:15:19] New restaurants everywhere, fixing roads everywhere, houses being demolished and built up fast everywhere. [00:15:28] Where would you rather be? [00:15:29] Listen, we've heard both Cuomo and Hokel. [00:15:33] Cuomo said, Rich people are not bad. [00:15:35] We need them. [00:15:36] And Hokel, come back, come back. [00:15:37] You got to fund my stuff. [00:15:40] What I'm so confused about as you go further left is there's nothing the government does. [00:15:46] Better or even well. [00:15:48] So, why? [00:15:50] Why the enthusiasm for centralizing everything in the government? [00:15:53] It's a confusion. [00:15:54] It's a real confusion that particularly young people have. [00:15:57] They have a utopian view of the world. [00:15:59] You think, oh, if I'm smart enough now, we as humans have evolved enough. [00:16:03] My grandparents were old and had old ideas and were confused. [00:16:07] And this time will be different. [00:16:09] And if I just have the power. [00:16:10] And the irony is, you know, they'll run around, even AOC now. [00:16:13] We're fighting fascists in the government. [00:16:15] All right. [00:16:15] Let's pretend that's true. [00:16:17] Even though actually the Democrats are far closer. [00:16:20] I don't have to do COVID with you, but the way they colluded government and big tech. [00:16:24] Against the people. [00:16:25] That's actually fascism. [00:16:26] That's it. [00:16:27] But it's a confusion because if your argument is the government is bad, how about instead of giving the government more power or saying to the government, okay, take more, how about then starve the government? [00:16:39] That, at least the libertarians who I think, you know, I think they miss a lot of things about human nature when it comes to war and peace and things like that. [00:16:46] At least their ultimate solution is you should have more skin in the game. [00:16:50] So I can at least get on board that. [00:16:52] The progressive view is quite backwards. [00:16:55] It's wild that it's been done and done and done. [00:16:58] You know, indeed, it's happening right here. [00:17:00] Well, let's talk about Mayor Pratt. [00:17:02] Yes, what do you think? [00:17:03] Is it possible? [00:17:05] So, in that, I am not a Los Angeles anymore. [00:17:08] I'm not, I can give you an outsider's point of view. [00:17:13] You need this guy. [00:17:14] It almost, in some sense, it does not even matter what the rest of his beliefs are. [00:17:18] I'm not fully aware of what you know, he's running as a Republican. [00:17:20] I don't know, I don't think he knows. [00:17:21] I think they're evolving as he sees problems. [00:17:23] I don't even think they matter. [00:17:24] Yeah, I think it's clear what he represents right now, which is basic common sense. [00:17:29] As we talked about on Actual Friends last week, one thing that I really like is I like people who are sort of apolitical or not known for politics that something happens that they become political because then you realize that stuff matters. [00:17:43] Supposedly, that's what happened to Sarah Palin. [00:17:45] Yes. [00:17:46] And that's why I was like, oh, good, this woman was sitting on the boards of a hockey game and then all of a sudden went and became governor and took on big oil. [00:17:53] I can sign up for that. [00:17:55] That's what this government's supposed to be about. [00:17:57] And whatever, we don't have to rehash everything about Sarah Palin, but there was a moment where she could have really. [00:18:03] Yeah. [00:18:03] Taking it and maybe she got a little over her skis or whatever. [00:18:06] Something happened. [00:18:07] She had that terrible interview where they asked her, What do you read? [00:18:10] And yeah, whatever. [00:18:11] Spencer Pratt to me just represents right now the angry, righteous indignation guy. [00:18:18] And that's what this town needs. [00:18:20] He was not political. === When Politics Become Personal (08:03) === [00:18:21] His house burned down. [00:18:22] His parents' house burned down. [00:18:23] The neighbor across the street literally died in the fire, was burned to death. [00:18:27] And now he's pissed. [00:18:28] And when you look at him in stark contrast to these two ridiculous. [00:18:34] Ridiculous people. [00:18:35] I am sorry. [00:18:36] Karen Bass is a ridiculous person. [00:18:39] And the one, the Zorhan wannabe, what's her name? [00:18:41] Raman is the last name. [00:18:44] She's absurd. [00:18:45] Absurd. [00:18:45] This is a woman who's fighting against having, they want to keep the drug addicts away from the schools and she's trying to bring them closer. [00:18:52] Right. [00:18:52] It's endless with these people. [00:18:54] And I hate to tell you, at some point, at some point, all the good people will flee. [00:18:59] Right. [00:18:59] And then you end up in some kind of Philip K. Dick situation. [00:19:03] Yeah. [00:19:03] Well, the one thing I really admire that he did. [00:19:07] Is he kicked open the Overton window? [00:19:10] And he's said things that I've been saying for 15 years, but he said something very simple. [00:19:16] They're talking about should the homeless people be near the schools or should the homes cost $750,000 or $850,000? [00:19:23] He goes, no, no more lying on the sidewalk. [00:19:26] That's it. [00:19:27] If you're so sick that you lie down on the sidewalk and stay there, we're going to put you somewhere. [00:19:31] We're going to help you. [00:19:32] We're going to help you because you're too sick to lie on the sidewalk. [00:19:34] You can't do that anymore. [00:19:35] And if you're a drug addict, we're going to get you some treatment. [00:19:37] What is wrong with that? [00:19:39] You're saving lives. [00:19:40] Drew, could your producer pull up? [00:19:41] Oh, they have it up right now. [00:19:43] So I took this picture this morning. [00:19:45] Okay. [00:19:46] I was walking in West Hollywood and I saw this picture. [00:19:49] And look, there is a homeless guy who likely is a drug addict, swastika, message on it, the whole thing. [00:19:56] That's on Melrose, you know, high Melrose over there, where there's, you know, the restoration hardware, and it's a primo area of this town. [00:20:02] We walked through West Hollywood this morning where I used to live. [00:20:05] It literally smells horrible everywhere. [00:20:09] There are homeless people everywhere. [00:20:11] You don't see people going to work. [00:20:13] Joey, who's with me, kept saying to me, where is everyone? [00:20:16] Why aren't people going to work? [00:20:17] Where is everybody? [00:20:19] There's something fundamentally wrong here. [00:20:22] And if, okay, so if Pratt loses, if Pratt loses, okay, so kick it another four years. [00:20:28] All right, how much worse will it be in four years and four years and four years and four years? [00:20:31] And before you know that, you know, things happen very slowly and then they happen very quickly. [00:20:35] Yes. [00:20:36] And by the way, that's what's happening in New York City right now. [00:20:38] I mean, it's getting now, New York seems to be in an accelerated version of it. [00:20:43] So the riots are getting a little bit worse. [00:20:44] You know, this crazy Hamas people wandering through residential areas in Brooklyn to find Hasidic Jews. [00:20:51] It's just put aside what you think about the Middle East. [00:20:54] Anything else, societies can't function like that. [00:20:56] They can't function when you allow drug addicts everywhere, and they can't function when you have people quite literally dressed up as jihadis terrorizing people in their homes. [00:21:08] I live in Florida. [00:21:11] I just want to quickly, as an aside, slowly then quickly, you know, where the most famous rendition of that is Hemingway. [00:21:19] One of his characters went bankrupt, and the other character asked him, What was it like? [00:21:23] How did it go? [00:21:23] And he goes, Well, First was slow, then it was fast. [00:21:26] Yeah, but it makes sense, right? [00:21:27] Like it really does. [00:21:28] And so, look, I don't know if he can win. [00:21:31] I don't know enough about the electorate anymore. [00:21:33] I just don't know if there are enough sane people here anymore or anything else. [00:21:36] But if you, as I think you can objectively say, let's put it this way if that debate that he was part of with those ridiculous people, if that had been aired 20 years ago, so 2006, almost everyone in America, regardless of politics, if you just removed that he happens to be a Republican and they're Democrats, almost everyone in America would have been like, Well, that guy seemed sane. [00:21:58] Pragmatic, problem solving. [00:22:00] Let's get stuff done. [00:22:01] And most people would have said these people seem deeply, deeply unqualified, something like that. [00:22:06] But something very dangerous has happened over the last 20 years. [00:22:09] So to say what is going to happen with the election, I have no idea. [00:22:12] I think I said this on actual friends that people are not interested in governing anymore. [00:22:16] They're interested in representing. [00:22:17] Yes. [00:22:18] And representing is non governance, it's not governing. [00:22:22] You've not done anything when you represent. [00:22:24] Good. [00:22:24] You've got to place the table. [00:22:26] What have you done? [00:22:27] You know who's doing a lot of that these days is Governor Newsom's wife. [00:22:31] Kroll and I listen to our podcast tomorrow. [00:22:35] We're putting up, we took her words and took an AI instrument that lets us make it be Burt Reynolds saying the words. [00:22:45] When you hear Burt Reynolds saying these crazy things, it's astonishing. [00:22:49] Oh, that's funny. [00:22:50] I like that. [00:22:52] It is just word salad and just one shibboleth after another. [00:22:57] And you're like, wow. [00:22:58] But look, the fact of the matter is the guy is still polling in the top. [00:23:01] Three for the Democrats for president, no matter what he does. [00:23:05] We've been through this. [00:23:06] You and I have been through this a gajillion times. [00:23:08] And, you know, the other part is, you know, you considered getting in the gubernatorial race a couple years ago. [00:23:13] I was like Pratt during COVID. [00:23:14] Somebody's got to do something. [00:23:15] I guess I'll have to do something. [00:23:16] No, and I remember, and you came over, we started talking about it a little bit. [00:23:20] And then I know you had some health stuff and didn't do it. [00:23:22] But a good person like you doesn't, for the most part, people don't want to deal with all of the baggage it comes with. [00:23:30] You know, they haven't tried to fool. [00:23:31] That's across the table here. [00:23:32] She does not want to deal with it. [00:23:34] But that's a perfectly Rational, decent thought to have. [00:23:38] My God, they're going to come for my family. [00:23:40] They're going to come for my children, my finances, blah, blah, blah. [00:23:44] Now, they, in a weird way, they haven't, unless I'm missing something, they haven't fully done that with Pratt yet. [00:23:50] So I think it's possible that they're, you know, he still is doing, he's on his rocket ship right now, right? [00:23:54] Right. [00:23:54] Like he's getting real high right now. [00:23:56] They could be. [00:23:56] It feels like maybe they're just. [00:23:58] Well, he's, I think he framed something very well. [00:24:00] He goes, We need adults right now. [00:24:02] That's the overturn window stuff. [00:24:03] And he goes, Can you imagine? [00:24:04] I'm the adult. [00:24:05] And it's the perfect frame because he is not known for being a good guy or an adult. [00:24:09] So he's already put it out there. [00:24:10] Like, I'm the adult. [00:24:12] It's crazy. [00:24:12] But think about it. [00:24:13] Right. [00:24:13] But that's what I'm saying. [00:24:14] So think about it. [00:24:14] Even though, again, I don't know that much about his other political beliefs, right? [00:24:19] Or if he even cared about any of this before two years ago. [00:24:21] And yet he's the best hope. [00:24:24] So, what does that tell you? [00:24:26] You're just not going to get, you know, who would have been a great mayor is Rick Caruso, but he did not win. [00:24:31] So, here you have a qualified businessman who dealt with fires before and his mall did not burn down because they had to. [00:24:38] Because he prepared for climate change or whatever's causing these things. [00:24:41] You basically had the perfect guy with a pedigree that could have been mayor. [00:24:45] You didn't choose him. [00:24:46] So, okay, the next guy that is basically like, hey, I've got the Kind of similar. [00:24:50] I'm a businessman. [00:24:51] I've got money. [00:24:51] I could do it. [00:24:52] I want to save my community. [00:24:53] But he's like, well, we saw what happened there. [00:24:55] So we'll leave it to the reality star. [00:24:58] Well, I think that's again, we started this conversation, talk about the lack of trust that's out there. [00:25:03] And if somebody is successful in business, the presumption is they must be a cheater. [00:25:08] They must be something. [00:25:10] And I kind of get it. [00:25:12] But then you're going to have to go with Pratt. [00:25:14] I think it was just because he was a Republican. [00:25:17] Did you happen to see maybe a producer can grab it about three or four days ago? [00:25:21] I put up a tweet. [00:25:22] It's a picture. [00:25:23] I was driving down the highway in Florida and I drove past the Ken Griffin Cancer Research Center at the University of Miami. [00:25:31] I have never noticed that before. [00:25:32] It's been there for a while. [00:25:33] But Ken Griffin, of course, is the one that Mom Dami stood in front of the pied de terre and said, 238 mil, this is the guy. [00:25:40] And now Citadel is moving to Miami. [00:25:44] They're debating whether they're going to keep any presence in New York. [00:25:47] So it's again, you're literally going, hey, here's the guy, go to the house, burn it down, blah, blah, blah. [00:25:52] Yeah. [00:25:53] AOC did the same thing with Amazon. [00:25:55] Long Island City could have been a massive center of economic growth. [00:26:00] But my parents live in the same house that I grew up in since they moved there in 1979, still there now. [00:26:06] And when Amazon was moving there, houses were selling like crazy because everybody was realizing there's all these new people coming in. [00:26:12] So people that were kind of getting ready to sell suddenly were starting to sell. [00:26:16] House prices went crazy. [00:26:18] She kills the deal. [00:26:18] They lose 21,000 jobs. [00:26:21] House prices go down. [00:26:22] And she's the good guy. [00:26:23] Yeah. === Burning Down Economic Growth (00:25) === [00:26:24] Dave Rubin, pleasure. [00:26:25] Thank you for being here. [00:26:26] We're going to do this in Florida in about two weeks. [00:26:29] We'll do this every week on Thursdays. [00:26:31] Yeah, well, I'm back here every week. [00:26:32] No, no, you guys are great. [00:26:33] I enjoyed the Celsius. [00:26:34] I appreciate it. [00:26:35] You'll be back in Miami and we'll do actual friends. [00:26:38] Yes, but I will see you in Miami in a week or so. [00:26:41] Yes, exactly. [00:26:42] That's coming fast. [00:26:43] All right, my friend, you've got to go down to stuff. [00:26:45] Susan's going to drive you there and I will see you very soon. [00:26:47] Good to see you, my friend. [00:26:48] You'll be here.
