Rubin Report - Dave Rubin - Comey Case Takes a Turn, FBI Targets Major Fraud, King Charles Speaks | 4/29/26 FIRST LOOK Aired: 2026-04-29 Duration: 06:30 === Comey Indicted Amid Fraud Probe (04:26) === [00:00:04] Good morning, everybody. [00:00:05] I'm Dave Rubin, and this is First Look. [00:00:07] It's Wednesday, April 29th, 2026. [00:00:11] We've got a packed show for you today. [00:00:13] James Comey indicted again in a shocking new DOJ probe. [00:00:20] FBI raids more than 20 locations in a major fraud crackdown in Minneapolis. [00:00:26] King Charles addresses Congress and surprisingly leans into Western values. [00:00:32] Let's dive in. [00:00:33] We start this morning with a major development involving former FBI Director James Comey. [00:00:38] Who has now been indicted for the second time by the Justice Department? [00:00:43] According to multiple reports, this latest indictment is tied to a controversial Instagram post Comey made back in May of 2025. [00:00:52] The post showed a formation of seashells arranged to read 8647. [00:00:58] Now, in common slang, 86 means to get rid of something. [00:01:03] And of course, Donald Trump is the 47th president of the United States. [00:01:08] That combination immediately sparked outrage from Republicans and Trump officials. [00:01:13] Who viewed the message as a veiled threat implying violence against the president? [00:01:19] Comey quickly deleted the post, claiming he misunderstood its meaning. [00:01:23] He said, I didn't realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. [00:01:28] I oppose violence of any kind. [00:01:30] But President Trump isn't buying that explanation. [00:01:34] In an interview with Brett Baer, Trump said he knew exactly what that meant. [00:01:39] A child knows what that meant. [00:01:41] If you're the FBI director and don't know, that means assassination. [00:01:46] This new indictment comes on top of a growing list of legal issues for Comey. [00:01:51] You might remember back in September 2025, he was charged with lying to Congress about press leaks, though that case was dismissed over a technical issue involving the prosecutor's appointment. [00:02:03] And now, adding even more complexity, Comey's daughter, Maureen Comey, is suing the Justice Department, claiming she was fired because of her father and political beliefs. [00:02:15] So, what we're seeing here is a major escalation, legal battles on multiple fronts. [00:02:20] All tied to one of the most controversial figures from the Russia investigation era. [00:02:25] And for many conservatives, this feels like long overdue accountability. [00:02:30] Next up, a massive FBI operation unfolding in Minneapolis. [00:02:34] Federal agents raided more than 20 locations Tuesday as part of a sweeping fraud investigation, focusing largely on Somali owned businesses. [00:02:44] At the center of it all, a place called the Quality Learing Center, which has been under scrutiny for months. [00:02:52] This so called daycare facility was exposed late last year by citizen journalist Nick Shirley, who found that the Learing Center appeared to provide none of the services it claimed, despite receiving $1.9 million in taxpayer funding. [00:03:10] Let that sink in. [00:03:11] Nearly $2 million, and allegedly no real childcare services being provided. [00:03:19] The owners deny wrongdoing, but the FBI clearly sees enough to act. [00:03:24] According to the DOJ, court authorized law enforcement activity is underway as part of an ongoing fraud investigation. [00:03:32] Vice President JD Vance, who's been leading the administration's anti fraud efforts, made it clear this is just the beginning. [00:03:39] He posted, The task force and DOJ will be relentless in exposing these fraudsters. [00:03:47] Footage from Fox News showed agents serving warrants across 22 locations, many tied to similar daycare operations. [00:03:55] Officials also clarified this is not about immigration enforcement. [00:04:00] This is about fraud, plain and simple. [00:04:02] But let's zoom out for a second. [00:04:04] Minnesota has already been rocked by a massive Medicaid fraud scandal, one so severe it pushed Governor Tim Walz out of his reelection bid. [00:04:13] And Minneapolis itself has been a flashpoint this year, with federal immigration crackdowns and prior unrest. [00:04:20] So now you're seeing a pattern weak oversight, massive taxpayer losses, and finally, federal intervention stepping in to clean it up. === King Charles Reinforces Western Ties (02:00) === [00:04:30] And finally, this morning, a historic moment on Capitol Hill. [00:04:34] King Charles III. Addressed a joint session of Congress for the first time since becoming king, and he received strong bipartisan applause. [00:04:45] In a rare moment of unity, lawmakers from both sides gave multiple standing ovations during his nearly 30 minute speech. [00:04:53] Charles emphasized the irreplaceable and unbreakable relationship between the U.S. and the U.K., calling for a renewed alliance between the two nations. [00:05:03] Now, this comes at an interesting time because President Trump and U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer. have clashed on several issues, especially regarding the war in Iran. [00:05:14] But Charles took a broader, more traditional tone, leaning heavily into shared Western values. [00:05:20] At one point, he said, the Christian faith is a firm anchor and daily inspiration. [00:05:26] That line triggered massive applause in Congress. [00:05:29] He also referenced the Magna Carta, reminding lawmakers that it laid the foundation for checks and balances, something conservatives have been emphasizing more and more in recent years. [00:05:41] And perhaps most notably, he tied the moment to America's upcoming 250th anniversary of independence, which drew yet another standing ovation. [00:05:51] So while politics between leaders may be tense, this speech was clearly about reinforcing the deeper cultural and historical ties between the U.S. and Britain. [00:06:01] And for many watching, it felt like a reminder of the importance of preserving Western civilization and its core principles. [00:06:09] And that's your first look this Wednesday. [00:06:11] Quick recap James Comey. [00:06:13] Faces a new indictment tied to his controversial 8647 post. [00:06:18] The FBI launches a major fraud crackdown in Minneapolis, and King Charles brings Congress together. [00:06:25] We'll keep following all of it. [00:06:27] I'm Dave Rubin. [00:06:28] Thanks for starting your day with First Look. [00:06:30] See you tomorrow.
