And of course, there's a million shows that you could be watching to recap President Trump's speech last night.
And they're all going to kind of start the same way and show a lot of the same clips.
So I want to take a little different tack at it to start.
I want to start with something else for a moment that will frame what we're doing today, which is that my buddy Stephen A. Smith went on The View.
Yesterday.
And they were not thrilled with this guy, which is kind of funny because he's basically a lifelong Dem.
He did not vote for Donald Trump.
He still has repeatedly said, although he doesn't have any major problems with Trump, that he doesn't support him.
There's also some strange polls out there.
I mean, and this just shows you, and he's even admitted it, how thin the Dem bench is, that he's one of the top frontrunners for the Democrat nomination four years from now.
So the whole thing's a little wacky.
But anyway, he goes on The View yesterday.
So this is...
Just hours before Trump's big speech last night.
And Joy was trying to make it seem that Trump does not have a mandate, despite winning the popular vote and the Electoral College and the House and the Senate and the whole freaking thing.
And Stephen A. put her in her place.
And I think we'll use that as the sort of opener for everything that Trump did later in the evening.
But the problem is that if you're the Democratic Party and you lost 49.8% to 48.3% and you're looking at that 1.5% dip, that's an excuse for you to say, what we did really wasn't that bad.
That is a beautiful example of why Ben Shapiro coined the phrase, facts don't care about your feelings.
Joy has a feeling.
Her feeling is that Trump doesn't have a mandate because she doesn't like Trump.
And then Stephen A., who opens it by saying, I'm no supporter of Trump, which again, Stephen A., we should discuss further on camera and over some steak.
He then just lays out all of the reasons, the massive shifts that we saw, and all of the swing states and everything else.
I don't need to repeat all of it.
And then she just sits there, well, I guess we have a different definition of mandate.
Yeah, because if it had been Biden or Kamala that had won by 1.5% of the popular vote and everything else, you would be saying, if the things were reversed right now, what would the Democrats be saying?
They would be saying, well, we got the Dem.
The Dems the president, the Dems got the House, the Dems got the Senate, mandate.
Like, it's just so damn obvious.
Okay, so I want to put that there, because then Trump gave what I think was, and I've said this a couple times over the years when he's given great speeches, I think that was the single greatest speech he's ever given.

The Madison Square Garden rally a few weeks before he was elected.
And it was incredible.
Wait, was that before he was elected or before he was sworn in?
It was before he was elected, right?
Oh yeah, it was like the week before the election.
And it was absolutely incredible.
The speech, the energy, you know, they said it was a Nazi rally and all the usual stuff.
But what Trump did last night, blending truth with results, with humor and love for country was...
It was probably the best speech I've heard in my lifetime.
We've ended the tyranny of so-called diversity, equity, and inclusion policies all across the entire federal government and indeed the private sector and our military.
This was maybe my favorite part of the entire, like the best kind of one-liner on the whole thing when he was talking about the border. - The media and our friends in the Democrat party kept saying we needed new legislation, we must have legislation to secure the border.
But it turned out that all we really needed was a new president.
So this is one of the official Trump accounts on Twitter.
Illegal southern border encounters.
February of 22, 166,000.

February of 25, 8,000.
And then they wrote, what was that about needing a bill again?
By the way, you may be looking at those numbers going, wait a minute, we've been talking about millions and millions of people coming.
These are just the border encounters, right?
So these are the people that actually are encountered by border guards, that there's some level of interaction and some level of tracking and everything else.
We're not talking about just the flood of people that have come through, which has largely been stemmed to, right?
Because once Trump came in, or even before Trump came in, we knew that the numbers were dropping because people were like, oh, Shit, I might get deported or otherwise kicked back to my country or put in jail or something like that.
And it's not just the border stuff.
So this is a bit of a sidebar, although it was briefly mentioned when he talked about RFK at one point.

Chains frying with beef tallow.
Steak and Shake, Popeyes, Outback Steakhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Smashburger.
These are all big, massive chains that I'm sure you've been to.
I think I've been to all.
I don't know that I've been to a Smashburger.

But they have decided, oh, we are not going to fry in all of that vegetable oil that is killing people and leading to heart disease and everything else.

The reason I'm showing you that is that it's not all about the laws that Trump is signing.
It's not all about the executive actions.
It's culture.
It's energy.
That is the Trump effect.
That is the shift that we are seeing in the...
So Trump didn't pass a law demanding that fast food joints and wing joints change the way they fry, but then they start seeing the writing on the wall.
And then they look at the numbers and they go, boy, you know, there is this move towards health and everyone's talking about seed oils and doing things more health consciously, etc.
How about we go ahead and do that?
And sure, does it cost a little bit more to fry and beef tallow?
It does.
And over time, that'll go down because more and more people will use it, right?
That's demand.
That's fairly simple, supply and demand stuff.
But they look at it and they go, it's a risk worth taking.
And then what happens?
We all get healthier.
It's pretty good.
Now, the drama...
Of the evening is there's this guy, Al Green, who I was told was just a pimp, but he gets out there and he's a he's a Democrat.
He's angry.
He does not like Trump.
And this was the the theater portion of the evening.
Members are directed to uphold and maintain decorum in the House and to cease any further disruptions.
That's your warning.
Members are engaging and willful in continuing breach of the quorum, and the chair is prepared to direct the sergeant at arms to restore order to the joint session.

And then just one more thing on this ridiculous Al Green, who, by the way, he represents Houston, which is struggling in so many ways right now, which I think Jasmine Crockett's also from Houston.

What did Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler do to deserve these people?
I do not know.

And I was making it clear to the president that he has no mandate to cut Medicaid.
I have people who are very fearful.
These are poor people.
And they have only Medicaid in their lives when it comes to their health care.
And I want him to know that his budget calls for deep cuts in Medicaid.

We need to raise the cap on Social Security.
There's a possibility that it's going to be hurt.
And we've got to protect Medicare.
These are the safety net programs that people in my congressional district depend on.

Seems to care less about them and more about the number of people that he can remove from the various programs that have been so helpful to so many people.
It is the best way to get it across to a person who uses his incivility against our civility.
He is a person who has consistently used incivility against civility.
So during the commercial there, we were all discussing that maybe I was being a little harsh with Al Green.
You know what I mean?
Maybe he doesn't have good people around him that could say shave a little more appropriately or get that grease out of your hair or stop screaming and interrupting the president of the United States.
Since that time, DJ and his dad have been on a quest to make his dream come true, and DJ has been sworn in as an honorary law enforcement officer actually a number of times.
The police love him.
The police departments love him.
And tonight, DJ, we're going to do you the biggest honor of them all.

So if you want to get some of those people who maybe aren't the most Trumpian Trumpsters in Trump town, what would you do?
You'd try to show some level of humanity in there.
So when the 95-year-old mother who just got her son back from the Russian prison is mentioned, who happened, she was born in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump got shot, like, kind of beautiful moment.
You might want to applaud that.
You might want to applaud the 13-year-old kid who had 13 brain surgeries.
You might want to do that, but they could not do that.
I actually think Trump missed an opportunity.
He was quite good in the way he was pointing out, you people will never applaud anything I do.
I mean, he basically said at the top, if I cured cancer, you wouldn't applaud.
He should have stopped at one point and been like, boy, you know, this is something.
You guys don't applaud me for anything.
He's like, why don't we play a game right now?
Can you applaud that America is the greatest country in the world?
And what would they have done?

It kind of is what it is at this point.
Now I want to contrast that with something else, or not even contrast, I want to add on to it, I should say, because in New York, Andrew Cuomo, who was the governor, stepped down over a sex scandal, although the thing that I think really damaged him mostly was taking all of the old people and putting them back into the old age homes, and literally, and I don't even think this is up for debate, Thousands of people died because of him.
He took sick old people and put them with other sick old people.
That is a fact.
He will have to answer for that one day.
Well, he had to step down as governor over the harassment scandal, but now he is running for New York City mayor, and he went on Stephen A. Smith's show to talk a bit about why he's doing that and some of his pandemic response.
The bottom, bottom line for the state of New York, and to cut through all the politics, they then count how many people died in nursing homes per 100, okay?
So it's apples and apples, big state, small state.
For every 100 people in nursing homes, how many died?
State of New York is number 38. Which means only 12 states had a lower rate of death than New York.
And that is saying something, Stephen, because, you know, we had it first.
And other states had months to prepare.
It just fell out of the sky for New Yorkers.
But those are federal numbers.
The rate of death in nursing homes, we rank number 38. I would have liked to be number 50, but 38, only 12 states had a lower rate of death.
I think that says New York officials, health officials, not only...
It's just like LA. You're going to have to decide if you believe that guy.
Also, other states had months to prepare.
COVID was just dropped on New York.
That's complete and utter nonsense.
We all had the exact same amount of time to prepare.
It did hit states a little bit differently.
And by the way, there were weather reasons that, you know, some places it was cold, people were a little sicker, there wasn't as much vitamin D. Like, you can go into all of the litany of arguments, but the fact is he put those old people back in those old age homes and a lot of people died.
