Rubin Report - Dave Rubin - SHARE: Heartbreaking Story of Business Owner & Her Anti-Lockdown Protest | POLITICS | Rubin Report Aired: 2020-12-05 Duration: 05:26 === Silence On The Patio (03:44) === [00:00:04] So this is my place, the Pineapple Hill Grill and Saloon. [00:00:07] If you go to my page, you can see all the work I did for outdoor dining, for tables being seven feet apart. [00:00:12] And I come in today because I'm organizing a protest and I came in to get stuff for that. [00:00:20] And I walk into my parking lot and obviously Mayor Garcetti has approved this. [00:00:32] Has approved. [00:00:35] This being set up for... [00:00:37] This being set up for... [00:00:39] For a movie company. [00:00:41] [Silence] [00:00:49] I'm losing everything. [00:00:51] Everything. [00:00:52] Everything I own is being taken away from me and they set up a movie company [00:00:57] right next to my outdoor patio which is right over here. [00:01:01] And people wonder why I'm protesting and why I have had enough. [00:01:13] They have not given us money and they have shut us down. [00:01:16] We cannot survive. [00:01:17] My staff cannot survive. [00:01:19] Look at this. [00:01:20] Tell me that this is dangerous, but right next to me, as a slap in my face, [00:01:34] I'm going to do this. [00:01:38] [BLANK_AUDIO] [00:01:39] That's safe. [00:01:40] This is safe? [00:01:41] 50 feet away? [00:01:48] This is dangerous. [00:01:50] Mayor Garcetti and Gavin Newsom is responsible for every single person that doesn't have unemployment, that does not have a job, and all the businesses that are going under. [00:02:01] And we need your help. [00:02:03] We need somebody to do something about this. [00:02:07] Alright everybody, I'm live. [00:02:09] This is Angela Marsden of Pineapple Hill Saloon in Sherman Oaks. [00:02:13] Hi everybody! [00:02:14] She is the woman who put up that incredible video yesterday, who I don't think you wanted to become famous yesterday. [00:02:20] No, no. [00:02:21] Is that the point of all of this? [00:02:22] Did you want to become famous? [00:02:23] What do you actually want to do? [00:02:25] I would actually love to run my restaurant, to run my successful pub that's been there since 1978 and feed my staff and take care of the community. [00:02:35] My restaurant's a hub for the community. [00:02:37] The people themselves will come just to Togo, we can't even open now for Togo, but before just to see us and just to commune and I just want to open up. [00:02:48] I just want to open my restaurant up. [00:02:49] Yeah, and so even though you did your whole outdoor situation... You can go to PH Saloon or you can go to Pineapple Hill Saloon on Instagram and there are photos. [00:02:59] I took what little money I had. [00:03:02] I don't have big investors. [00:03:03] I'm a one-woman shop and I did a patio. [00:03:05] I followed all the rules. [00:03:07] The picnic tables were more than six feet apart. [00:03:09] They're seven to ten feet apart, some of them. [00:03:12] We did masks. [00:03:12] We did temperatures. [00:03:13] We did face shields. [00:03:14] We did I did Plexi all through the inside, and as soon as I got the Plexi done, they made us go outside. [00:03:24] I turned a parking lot into an outdoor patio, on my own, with help with friends, you know? [00:03:29] So, there's no way, and there's no science that shows that outdoor dining It's hurting anybody. === Keep Supporting (01:52) === [00:03:40] I myself have had, I'm not rich, I'm not Sheila Cooley. [00:03:45] I actually have had tuberculosis and shouldn't be out. [00:03:49] By the way, Sheila Cooley, the woman who voted, was the deciding vote, the 3-2 vote to shut down all the restaurants in LA who went out to eat that very night, she makes, we're being told now, over $300,000 a year. [00:03:58] Yeah, she makes $25,000 a month. [00:03:59] Yeah, she makes $25,000 a month, a month to sit at home and stay safely inside and [00:04:09] eat $40 meals from Ilfenaya or Fornano or wherever she did it from. [00:04:14] But the point is this, guys. [00:04:16] I've been working with the public since day one. [00:04:18] Because I have not had the option to be inside not working. [00:04:24] And I have not gotten the virus because we were safe. [00:04:28] We did everything right. [00:04:29] We did everything they asked, and they did it in the beginning. [00:04:33] They give you a little project that costs you everything you have, and they think you won't reopen or can't reopen. [00:04:39] Then you find a way to open, and then they change that on you. [00:04:43] Well, listen, you're a freaking hero. [00:04:46] You are what America is all about, truly. [00:04:49] What can people do to help you? [00:04:50] Besides come out here, what else can we do? [00:04:54] We have a GoFundMe page. [00:04:55] I'll tweet out the GoFundMe I just did. [00:04:57] We have a GoFundMe page, but just keep supporting us because there's so many restaurants and there's so many owners. [00:05:04] I have friends that haven't even been able to open because they didn't have food. [00:05:07] They're losing everything. [00:05:09] So just keep supporting, please.
