Ron Paul Liberty Report - Weekly Update --- A Gloomy 2023: Here Are Some Bright Spots Aired: 2023-01-03 Duration: 05:12 === Nuclear Threat Normalized (03:22) === [00:00:03] A gloomy 2023. [00:00:06] Here are some bright spots. [00:00:09] The prospects for peace, justice, and the advancement of liberty in 2023 may at first seem further away than ever. [00:00:19] Washington's determination to overthrow the Russian government via a proxy war in Ukraine has brought the threat of nuclear war closer than ever in history. [00:00:32] The mainstream media is even normalizing the idea that a nuclear attack on the U.S. is really no big deal. [00:00:41] Yahoo News wrote yesterday that a public health expert is concerned that Americans are not sufficiently prepared for nuclear bombs hitting major U.S. cities. [00:00:56] The Yahoo article even links to a FEMA-authored nuclear detonation planning guide to help us better get through a barrage of nuclear missiles. [00:01:08] Are they insane? [00:01:10] They act as if a nuclear attack on the United States is just another inconvenience to plan for, like an ice storm or a hurricane. [00:01:20] The FEMA guide's advice on what to do during a nuclear attack is get inside, stay inside, and stay tuned. [00:01:31] Stay tuned to what? [00:01:33] Have they not seen the photos from Hiroshima or Nagasaki? [00:01:39] While we are foolishly edging toward war with the media and Beltway neocons cheering it on, there are still some bright spots we can look to in 2023. [00:01:54] First, polls consistently demonstrate increasing American opposition to U.S. involvement in Ukraine. [00:02:04] Republicans are set to take control of the House this week, right as Republican voter support for more military aid to Ukraine has seen a dramatic and steady decline. [00:02:17] U.S. households continue to struggle under runaway inflation and a looming economic crackup, and more Americans are going to demand answers from their government as to why we have sent more than $100 billion to Ukraine while so many are struggling at home. [00:02:40] Second, a recent Rasmussen poll has revealed that in light of the Twitter files, which showed that the FBI viewed the social media platform as a paid subsidiary of the U.S. government, some 63% of likely U.S. voters believe Congress should investigate whether the FBI was involved in censoring information on social media sites. [00:03:10] A large percentage of those polled believe the FBI has been politicized by the current administration, which may give incoming Republicans in the House some backbone to launch an actual investigation. === Turkish Withdrawal from Syria (01:46) === [00:03:26] Without the First Amendment, the other amendments are virtually meaningless. [00:03:31] And when the U.S. government can strong-arm private businesses to attack free speech, freedom has no future. [00:03:42] A third bright point is that nearly 12-year war on Syria might finally be closer to settlement. [00:03:50] Syrian and Turkish defense ministers held negotiations brokered by Moscow, which resulted in an agreement by Turkey to withdraw its military forces from Syrian soil. [00:04:04] There are rumors that a meeting between the leaders of Turkey and Syria may come as soon as early this new year. [00:04:14] The destruction of Syria was part of the Obama-Hillary neocon plan to remake the Middle East, but as always, these interventionist schemes have only resulted in death and destruction. [00:04:30] Washington continues to lecture Russia about occupying Ukrainian soil, yet the U.S. military has for years occupied Syrian territory for the sole purpose of backing extremists and stealing Syrian oil. [00:04:47] Turkey leaving Syria will add pressure for the U.S. to leave Syria. [00:04:53] That is a good thing. [00:04:56] The new year is upon us. [00:04:58] It might be easy to feel dejected, but for we who promote peace, freedom, and justice, there is much to build on. [00:05:08] Do not allow your voices to be silent.
