Time Text
The White House Daily Brief is taking place right now.
Jay Carney, Obama's spokesman just said, Obama believes it is wrong to play politics with the Keystone Pipeline.
That's right after Jay Carney admitted that Obama had been lobbying Democrat senators to vote against it.
We don't want to play politics.
No.
Obama doesn't like playing politics with the pipeline.
And Obama, Obama doesn't like commenting on what pundits and other people say.
And then he does it.
He doesn't like playing politics with things, but then he does it and leads the way.
Great to have you back, Rush Limbaugh here behind the golden EIB microphone at the Distinguished and the Prestigious.
Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
This is the largest free education institution known to exist in the free world.
And the oppressed world for that matter.
There are no graduates.
And there are no degrees.
Because the learning never stops.
Great to have you here.
800 282-2882 is the number if you want to be on the program.
The email address, Lrushbo at EIBNet.com.
So yesterday, Apple releases the new iPad and a new Apple TV.
They got a lot of bunch of stuff coming this year.
Apple has a thing called iCloud.
And it basically is a huge, two, well, what right now one huge data center in North Carolina, server farm.
And they're building another one ostensibly in Oregon, someplace.
Get this.
Greenpeace says that Apple's iCloud is an unsustainable coal-fueled mess.
Thank you.
And that the just announced movie service will only make it worse.
Here's the way it works.
If you have iTunes, this is true for your not a Mac user, it's true for Windows computers.
iTunes you can rent or buy, television shows and movies and songs and books and so forth, and all of that is stored on Apple servers called the iCloud.
Up until yesterday, you buy a song, you buy a TV show, it's stored on the cloud.
You buy it on your computer, but you can watch it on anything you have.
You can watch it on your iPhone, your iPad, another computer.
Yesterday, Apple added movies to this.
You buy a movie on your computer, you can watch it now on any device.
And Greenpeace is mad.
Greenpeace is in an all-out assault mode here on Apple.
Apple is about innovation, but buying coal at really cheap source prices is not innovative, said Greenpeace senior policy analyst Gary Cook.
These data centers are fueled by about 60% coal, so every time you watch Star Wars from Apple's iCloud, you are watching a movie knowing it's destroying the Appalachian Mountains and using dirty energy.
So you watch a movie from iCloud, a movie that you buy on your computer on your television via Apple TV or on your iPad, and you are destroying a mountain range.
That's Greenpeace.
That's the American left.
That's how absurd.
How do they have any followers?
And what must their followers be?
A bunch of the dumbest people in this country.
God bless them.
Some of the most ignorant, blind people who, in their own estimations, their lives must be so pitiful, pathetic, and meaningless, they glom onto stuff like this to make themselves think they matter.
This is patently absurd.
Politico, Obama lobbying Democrats over pipeline.
President Obama intervening doesn't like to play politics on things.
Obama intervening in a Senate fight over the Keystone XL oil pipeline and personally lobbying Democrats to reject an amendment calling for its construction, according to several sources familiar with the talks.
And Jay Carney just admitted it.
So you don't need sources, several sources familiar with the talks.
I thought I thought State Department other people have a problem with this.
I thought the president wouldn't rest till everybody had a job who wants one.
And the Keystone XL pipeline would create, I don't know how many tens of thousands of jobs.
Can't have it now.
You know why?
You know why, folks?
You know why he's got to oppose it?
Because the same numbskulls who actually believe watching a movie from iCloud will destroy the Appalachian Mountains.
That's about it.
The Keystone Pipeline will destroy America because there's oil in it, and it'll leak, and it'll kill birds and animals and grass.
It'll poison the planet and all have global warming, and we're all gonna die.
Never mind, we've got I don't know how many hundreds of miles of pipeline already.
It's just frankly ridiculous.
In a sane world, these people would be laughed out of the public square.
Instead, in the mainstream media, they are given credibility.
They are given a level of importance.
Positions of authority and power in the public arena in the debate, it's insane.
Watching Star Wars.
I don't care if every iCloud subscriber watches Star Wars, you're not destroying a mountain range.
And of all people to accuse of this, Apple.
Here's Mitch McConnell.
He was in Washington this morning on the Senate floor during general remarks, talking about the Keystone Pipeline and Obama lobbying Democrat senators to oppose it.
There's a report this morning that the president is personally making phone calls to Democratic senators he thinks might vote for the amendment, asking them not to.
And frankly, it's hard to even comprehend how out of touch, how completely out of touch he is on this issue.
I mean, think about it.
At a moment when millions are out of work, uh gas prices are literally skyrocketing, and the Middle East is in turmoil.
We've got a president who's up making phone calls trying to block a pipeline here at home.
It's really almost unbelievable.
Except that it is believable.
Because it's happening.
He's not out of touch, Senator.
I know we must speak diplomatically.
We're in the U.S. Senate.
We will speak diplomatically about the president.
He is not out of touch.
By the stretch of the imagination, this is purposeful.
I'll tell you what, I'm a just in in political terms, getting Democrats on the record opposing the Keystone Pipeline is the equivalent of an early Christmas present for Republicans.
To have these Democrats go on the record opposing the expansion of the domestic oil supply, opposing the creation of tens of thousands of new jobs, opposing American independence from foreign oil.
Republicans are going to need to pick up 14 Democrat votes for the amendment to pass.
The vote on this is expected sometime after four o'clock today.
And remember, almost a year ago, ten months ago in May, Obama approved a giant oil storage tank in the Gulf for Brazil.
We are funding oil creation and expansion exploration for Brazil and a couple of other Central American, South American countries.
So not here.
Not because the United States have to pay his price.
We have to pay the price for our prosperity.
We have to pay the price for how mean-spirited and extreme we've been to the peoples of the world.
We have stolen their resources.
It's time we paid the price.
He's not out of touch, Senator McConnell.
He's entirely in touch.
He's got specific motives for this.
And as you just detailed, Senator, they are not helpful.
In fact, they are detrimental to this country.
If I wanted to, I could go out there, I could get the audio of President Obama saying, I won't rest until every American has a job.
He says it over and over again, I'm sure you've heard it.
The fact of the matter is, it's not that the president won't rest until every American has a job.
The president won't rest until he's killed every job related to the Keystone pipeline.
And don't get me started on killing the health insurance industry.
That's in a death spiral too, thanks to him.
President won't rest until every American has a job.
I'll tell you he won't rest until every bundler for his campaign gets a cushy government job.
Barack Obama won't rest until every detail of his past has been hidden or whitewashed or ignored.
Barack Obama won't rest until gas prices in America are the same as they are in Europe.
Barack Obama won't rest until taxes are higher across the board.
Barack Obama won't rest until death panels exist to decide who gets medical treatment and who doesn't in this country.
Barack Obama won't rest until every one of his enemies has been isolated and smeared.
Obama won't rest until he can tell you what to eat, what to drive, what to purchase, and when to do all of that.
Barack Obama won't rest until the Commerce Clause is rendered meaningless and churches bow down to him.
That's what he's aiming for.
Won't rest until every American has a job while he lobbies Democrat senators to make sure that tens of thousands of jobs are not created.
Be right back.
Back to the phones we go to Chris in Manhattan.
Great to have you, sir.
Thank you for waiting.
Uh you're here on the EIB network.
Hi.
Hi, Russia.
Uh it really is an honor to speak to you.
I've got so much to say, I'm probably not going to get any of it out, but let me just I I wrote down kind of what I wanted to say.
Um about Santorum.
I I'm a fifty-eight-year-old white Christian person.
I know I know Israel is our is our ally.
Uh, we should def defend them and stick by them no matter what happens.
I think Santorum is unelectable because he's too far to the right.
We have to appeal to to people that are sitting on the fence and some people on the left that could that could stomach voting for somebody like Romney.
I I I realize he's not the ideal candidate, but the main thing that that the Republicans and just intelligent people should be focused on is getting rid of Obama.
That should be the main issue.
We're not gonna have an ultra conservative in the White House, it just can't happen, or if it can, he's gotta be disguised.
What's an ultra conviction then be one?
What's what's an ultra conservative?
You know, I I I I don't even I I I listened I listened to you and Hannity and and Mark Levin religiously.
I mean, you know you're you guys are the holy trinity.
And and you hear Mark talk about that it it's not just a candidate, it has to be the right candidate, it has to be somebody that's against abortion, it has to be somebody for sealing up the borders.
You can't have all these things all at once.
You've you've got to I I mean it's gotta be gradual.
You can't have somebody that's so radical that that people on the left will think that we're too radical.
That's what we feel about the people on the left.
Well, wait though, wait a wa wait a second now.
The left already thinks that about Romney.
The the the left thinks all of us are too radical.
Why do why do we want to try to come up with a candidate or even an issue set that appeases the left?
That's why we're in this problem.
Think that we can compromise with these people?
We need some of their votes.
We can't ignore that they're there.
No, we don't.
No, we don't.
There aren't enough of them.
We don't need all the votes of the left.
That's a big not all the votes.
We need we need some of the votes.
Listen.
No, we don't need any votes from the left.
And we're not gonna get any votes from the left.
They're gonna unless they switch to become conservatives in the way they live their lives and register to vote.
We are not, I don't care who we nominate, we're not gonna get any votes from the left.
Why do you why do you want votes from the left?
So that we have a chance of taking back the White House.
We can win the White House with everybody on the left voting against it.
We outnumber them two to one.
Oh my you know, I I I would I would love to think listen, my wife's a physician.
You don't realize that because you live in Manhattan where you're outnumbered eight to one.
And I'm terrified that the fact, you know, I mean, it's so so rare to find somebody who who who agrees with me.
But listen, just a quick note.
My my wife's a doctor, and she works with this other doctor who's a black lady, and they were talking, and the the her friend said, you know, I I know Obama's not doing a good job and everything, but he's a black man and I have to give him another chance.
There are so many people like that who are just gonna be just gonna vote for him because he's been able to get the.
And we're never gonna get their vote.
We're never we're not gonna get the votes of people like Pauline Cale, who couldn't believe Nixon was elected in seventy four.
So, my gosh, I don't know anybody who voted for him.
We're not gonna get Manhattan liberals to vote for our candidate.
It ain't gonna happen.
If they knew the if they knew the facts, I mean we listening to these shows, we're like preaching to the choir.
The facts alone should be enough to convert, if not to convert Democrats to Republicans, at least for the Democrats to see what he's really doing.
I mean in Obamacare, you talk about it all the time.
There's so many things that are hidden in this bill that the Democrats will be affected by the sales tax.
You are singing my tune.
I've been doing it twenty-three years.
I think I've got enough evidence to know that no matter what I do, the left is focused on only one thing, getting rid of me.
They're not interested in joining.
The facts don't matter.
We're dealing with pure ideologues who have an entirely different view of government and this country than you do, and there's not a one of them that we should waste a minute trying to get, because every time we do, we throw away our base.
Okay.
Well, anyway, thank you very much.
I I wanted to say to say that.
Thanks for my own.
Well, I'm glad look at I'm I'm I'm glad you called.
I understand exactly where you're coming from, but y you I can't help but observe that your mindset, and it's impossible for you to be otherwise.
Your mindset is as a result of being as outnumbered as you are where you live.
And as such, you have a misconception about the mindset of the rest of the country.
Now, using using his own example.
I know people are gonna vote for Obama just because he's a black guy.
We gotta be fair, give him a second chance.
What in the world could we say to that voter to change his mind?
What issue could we possibly bring up that would change that voter's mind?
What appeal could possibly be made change that voter's mind?
Nothing.
There's not one thing.
The Republican Party's problem, I maintain is one, well, many problems, psychology.
As epitomized by this or illustrated by this call.
For some reason, we've got to get those people joining us.
And the truth is we have to find a way to beat them.
Not compromise with them, not find a way to make them like us, not find a way to get them to cross the aisle to us.
How many election cycles now have we crossed the aisle or nominated somebody who talked about having the qualifications to pull it off?
Did it work?
Has it ever worked?
It never does work.
The people who are going to vote for Barack Obama need sympathy at the best.
They need contempt at the worst.
They are as much a problem, if not more so, than Obama is.
The scary thing is there are people who vote for Obama.
The scary people is there, people who want to vote for him again.
It's scary because they haven't the slightest idea what they're doing.
Most of them hate us so much it doesn't matter what Obama's gonna do.
Denying us victory is what matters most to them.
No matter what they cause to themselves.
Don't doubt me on this.
Don't I know better than most the type people we're up against.
We are a bigger threat to the left that Chris here was talking about than Al Qaeda is to them.
We are a bigger threat than any international enemy.
We scare them.
We anger them more than anything else in their lives.
Now you probably say, well, why?
Folks, I'm not a psychiatrist or a psychologist.
All I know is it's irrational.
And I try to spend time analyzing irrationality is a waste of time.
They have to Be defeated.
But where is it written that we can't secure the border and stop health care and reassert an American moral cord core in one candidate?
Why do we have to gradually do that?
We don't have the time to be gradual about it anymore.
We did have the time in the past to be gradual, but we squandered it.
Now we've got a genuine crisis and emergency.
The very future of the country as founded is at stake.
We're losing it.
We are losing this country.
And sometimes that's what overtakes me, and that's what makes me mad.
That's what causes me to make mistakes.
Is I am so enraged by it.
And I can no more explain people on the left than you can.
All I know is they have to be defeated.
You know, Gallup is out with some news, and we shared it with you at the top of the program.
The uh real unemployment number in this country, according to Gallup and their surveys, is 9.1%.
But there's also another number that Gallup is out with.
And it dovetails nicely with Chris's call mere moments ago.
50% of Americans say Obama's presidency is a failure.
55-0.
This is not a man who is an automatic slam dunk guaranteed to win reelection.
The first thing we have to realize here is that we're not dealing with somebody superhuman.
I think what depresses everybody is the media.
If you can imagine life in America where the media was as equally accusatory, equally suspicious of Democrats as Republicans, we'd have an entirely different national mood and national landscape.
Now we don't have that.
And that isn't going to change.
That I think leads people to think that we're forever in a minority that cannot win.
And if you happen to live in a very blue area, then you're really up against it psychologically.
50% of the American people say the Obama presidency is a failure.
Well, I'm I'm here to tell you that's something to build on.
A national Gallup poll of adults shows that 50% of Americans believe Barack Obama's presidency has been a failure.
44% say it's been a success.
Yes.
That 50% approval number, that's a crucial one for presidents at a reelection year.
All incumbents who have been elected to a second term had a 50% or higher average approval rating by February of that year.
Obama's approval averages 45% in February.
Statistics made to be broken.
All incumbents who have been elected to a second term had this according to Gallup, had a 50% or higher average approval rating by February of that year.
Well, February's come and gone, and Obama averaged 45%.
So according to this stat, he's toast.
But like Chris said, there are people out there who feel sorry for the guy.
One of the things the media does is keep elevated.
No matter what people think of the economy or the government, the media keeps his personal likability numbers up.
Contrast that to what they did with George Bush for eight years.
They ginned up hatred for George W. Bush.
It's the exact opposite with Obama.
If people were told what's really happening with a Keystone Pipeline with any economic aspect of the stimulus, if people were told the truth, if people were told why by the mainstream media, we'd have a whole different landscape.
But we don't, and they don't, and it isn't going to change.
That's the lay of the land.
That's what has to be dealt with.
There's a lot of historical trends Obama's gonna have to buck out there, folks.
Another another historical trend is unemployment number.
No president's been re-elected when uh unemployment's what, 8% or higher.
Well, if we have unemployment under 7%, it's gonna have been ginned up.
It's not real.
They've already taken two million jobs out of circulation by just saying they don't exist.
Real unemployment number in this country is about 15 or 16 percent.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics, it's called the U6 number includes everybody who is stopped looking for work in addition to those who are.
And that takes us then well, Santorm, too extreme, too radical, too ultra conservative.
Can't win.
Somebody tell me.
Give me the last time.
A genuinely proclaimed moderate Republican won the White House.
I want to know when did it happen?
And don't cite George W. Bush.
George W. Bush ran as a conservative.
Full-fledged.
I want to know.
I want to know the last time this great moderate won the White House.
I want to know who it was that got the votes from the left that we apparently need to win.
Who was it that convinced hardcore Democrats to abandon their candidate?
How did it happen?
I want to know.
Who was the last moderate that did that?
You can't name one.
No, not George H. W. Bush either.
George H.W. Bush in 1988 ran on another term of Ronald Reagan.
George H.W. Bush ran on Reagan's third term.
The closest that you can get would be Richard Nixon in 1968 and 1972.
And look at the circumstances in both of those elections.
You had the Vietnam War, and you had the nation protesting the Democrat Party in Chicago, 1968.
You had uh country on fire, coming off a Democrat presidency.
But I don't say this because of any bias.
I just somebody give me the give give me the name.
Give me the name of this magical candidate who convinced Democrats to vote Republican.
Every four years we're told this is the only way we can win.
I want to know.
When did it happen?
Tell me.
Who was that candidate?
In your lifetime, even.
Who was that candidate?
I think Nixon's the only one you can mention.
And by the way, speaking of Nixon was a moderate.
And look how loved he was.
Yeah, I remember.
I remember how the left loved Nixon.
And I remember how they respected him.
And boy, he did everything he could to be liked by these guys.
He gave him OSHA.
He gave him the EPA, Department of Education.
He didn't stop me.
He started, he blew up government like crazy.
He was really bothered by the fact that the Democrats hated him.
He wanted to be loved.
And he did things that he thought that they would appreciate.
And gosh, uh all they did is basically want to destroy him.
I just want to know.
The wizards are smart on our side.
Powers that be.
People tell us only they know how to win elections.
I want to know.
When their model was successful.
Ellie Cape Fair, Missouri.
Great to have you on the EIB network.
Hello.
Yes, sir.
Are you there?
Yeah, I'm right here.
Okay.
Um, I don't know.
My phone might go dead, so if it goes, I'm sorry.
But I I had to call because of your last caller.
I'm I'm so independent.
My family's so independent.
We voted for John Kerry.
We um that's when we first saw Barack Obama.
We did our homework on him, and he scared the holy glibin' the jeebies out of us.
But Rick Santorum is who we're backing because we need someone like him.
We need morals back in America.
We need God back in America.
And I I wish people would realize that.
We are independents.
And we want that.
And I it Rick Santorm's coming to Springfield, Missouri.
I'm sorry, I'm very nervous.
Rick Santorm's coming to Springfield, Missouri on Saturday.
My daughter who's twenty years old is going to see him because she fully supports him.
We're so sick of the stuff we see on TV.
We're we're just we're so sick of being afraid to say God.
We're so sick of it being taken away from America and we're independents.
We're not Republicans.
We're not Democrats.
We're independents and we have a voice and we want someone like Rick Santorum.
We want we want what he stands for.
I know the economy's very important but that will get taken care of.
It really will.
That's what that's what we we're electing all these people for.
But Rick Santorum stands for something that we need in the White House and America needs it.
And I just I I I just I had to say that okay.
I hear you I hear you I'm still stuck on the fact that as an independent you voted for John Kerry.
I mean that's that you are too independent.
I I was I I that that was my first time I ever voted in my life.
Well that explained it you didn't know what you were doing.
You just hated Bush I was I was very angry with George Bush.
Yeah I why but I understand what you're saying and now I could kick myself but I why were you I'm just curious though why were you mad at Bush?
Because we I I really believe that we should have put more emphasis in Afghanistan and secured it more taking off and going into Iraq.
I mean I I watched the whole thing and honestly Rudy Giuliani I was so impressed with him that I just wanted him to be my president.
I'm not a Democrat or a republican I am an independent and like I said that was the first time I voted my daughter will be casting her verse first vote for president.
She wants it to be for someone like Rick Santorum not Romney not at all.
Okay, okay I got it I if I don't stop you here the Romney people are going to charge me with being unfair to them.
We got it we heard you and I'm glad you called thank you very much Ellie appreciate it.
We do have to take a break it'll be back in just a second here don't go away we have news from the hill dot comy Harry all happy Dingy Harry ecstatic yippee in announcing that the Democrats will kill the Keystone amendment Senate Majority Leader Dingy Harry Reid said that Democrats now have the votes to defeat a Republican backed measure to approve the Keystone XL oil pipeline.
He went on to say Obama has not come out saying I oppose Keystone he opposes doing it in the manner that's been jammed down our throats sort of like the way Obama care with jammed down our throats Obama has opposed it folks he has opposed the Keystone pipeline he's opposed it today.
He is calling Democrats urging them not to vote for it's only coming down the pike one way but here you have it the Democrat leader in the Senate is happy that they will not be adding to the domestic oil supply he's happy that we will not be creating tens of thousands of new jobs.
The Democrat Party's Senate majority leader ecstatic and happy today that we will not be adding to our oil supply or creating jobs.
Who's next?
Paul in Jacksonville, Florida.
Thank you for waiting.
Great to have you on the program, sir.
Hi.
Hey, Rush.
This is Paul, as you just said.
I just got a couple of comments here.
One about why Obama likes that high gas prices.
And that's just trying to get more people onto food stamps.
Well, I think he likes high gasoline prices because he wants to change what people drive.
He wants...
What I'm going to tell you is the truth.
It's unbelievable...
it's so You don't want to believe it.
Doesn't sound possible.
Not in this country.
It's so unbelievable you're going to reject me saying it.
You're gonna cast it off as that's a bit far out.
Obama wants you to have less freedom, less mobility, less able or ability to move around.
There are people like there.
If most people that run countries are like that, we are the exception.
That's what's been so wonderful, what's such a blessing about the United States.
Most of the people who have ever lived have lived under rulers, not people who govern them.
He wants you to have less money.
You're right.
He wants you depending on him.
Food stamps or whatever it is.
But ultimately it's about usurping your freedom and transferring it to the government.
Doesn't think you're smart enough to live your life responsibly.
Doesn't think you'll willingly turn over your power to him.
He's gonna have to find ways to trick you out of it.
That's what's going on with this regime.
It's this simple, folks.
There is nothing President Obama has done that does not expand government's power and its control.
Not a single thing.
Everything he has done expands government power and government control.
Every single thing.
And that cannot be an accident.
And we'll see you tomorrow, open line Friday.
Export Selection
