This guy has been misquoted and taken out of context more than any president I know of.
Ever since I've been doing this show, for example, twenty-three plus years, there is an email, a blast email going around ten things that Lincoln said, except he never said them.
I used to reply to everybody who sent me that thing, calling them everything but an idiot for believing it.
And finally, I gave up.
It was just too many of them.
I used to respond to blast emails.
If it is a losing proposition is a losing cause.
And now this thing from the from the Daily Cause, Lincoln is speaking of slave labor.
And if these people at Daily Cause actually knew what Lincoln was talking about, they would not have posted this.
But here's the Lincoln quote that they think spread all over the country will convince everybody that unions are the way to go.
Labor is prior to and independent of capital.
Capital is the is only the fruit of labor and could never have existed if labor had not first existed.
Labor is the superior of capital and deserves much the higher consideration.
This was an emergency message to Congress in December, actually December 3rd of 1861.
And what Lincoln was talking about here, essentially, was that slave laborers had as much right for their labor as the capitalists, as the slave owners had to their property, if not more.
He was specifically, this is specifically laying the case out for what was inherently wrong about slave labor.
Slave labor, of course, was uncompensated.
But even beyond that, like this last guy from Houston, by the way, Snerdley, thank you for Seminar Caller Day.
We've had what three calls a day have all been a bunch of creeps.
What is this?
Creep caller day?
Is that what you you uh this is what's out there today?
This is what this is all that's a snurdy says that's I want you to see what's out there.
This is all that's out there.
I think, well, it may be a spam campaign.
It could well be, but like this last guy from Houston that just called.
The federal government already collects nearly three trillion dollars a year from us, and they spend a trillion and a half more than that.
They collect nearly three trillion, they're gonna spend four and a half, but we're not through.
State and local governments collect another three trillion dollars a year from us.
This is a grand total of six trillion dollars in taxes per year.
Why isn't six trillion dollars a year enough to fix potholes and bridges and the sort?
We ought to be able to fill them up with diamonds and platinum for that money.
You know, one of the things I've always thought when I lived in New York in Manhattan, you look at the number of people who live per city block in these high-rise apartments and condos and what have you look at the property tax that has to be collected per city block in New York, the roads ought to be paved with gold.
Every school ought to be a palace.
But why is it?
Why are there potholes in Houston?
Why is there no infrastructure?
Why haven't there been any repairs?
It's not for lack of money.
This is the whole point.
The money's not being spent on those things.
The money is being spent to buy votes.
The money is being spent to make people worthless.
The money is being spent to create dependency.
The money is being spent robbing Americans of their humanity and their dignity by making them wards of the state.
The Democrat Party is spending all of that money or a great portion of it, so people can sit around and do nothing as long as they vote Democrat.
And this has been going on for 50 years or more.
We don't have a shortage of finances in this country.
We have a shortage of revenue.
There's not enough, it's not the fact that not enough money is being raised.
We've got a spending problem out the wazoo and the spending that's taking place in large measure.
Majority portion of it is being wasted.
Being spent to destroy the lives of people.
How is that Mr. Limbaugh?
How can money spent on people to throw the life of the because it robs them of their initiative, it robs them of motivation, it robs them of inspiration, it robs them of desire.
You give them just enough to get by, and they live their lives in constant anger and rage.
And so you keep feeding that rage by telling them their conditions are because the Republicans don't care enough about it or what have you.
They constantly vote Democrat, and that's how you destroy a country.
It's how to destroy a culture.
It's how you destroy a great society.
You let the Democrats and a bunch of liberals run it.
If I had to say one word that has had the most disastrous effect on the advancement of everybody in this culture, that word would be compassion.
The crap that's been done in the name of compassion in this country has robbed people of their dignity, of their chance, of their opportunity at their own greatness and using their own ambition and desire, it has taken it from them.
It has made them not have to use any of that.
We have lowered the expectations of so many Americans.
Because that's the way liberals look at people as incompetent and incapable anyway.
As far as liberal democrats are concerned, the stupider you are, the better off for them.
The more ignorant you are, the better off for them.
The less you have, the better off for them.
The more hate filled you are, the better off for them.
All of the rotten human characteristics that exist, they profit from.
And I got a I got a great email here during the break from a subscriber at Rush 247.
By the way, speaking of that, you probably have noticed that we have upgraded our website, Rush Limbaugh.com, and we've uh one of the improvements is that we don't have to wait until 5 or 6 p.m. every day to update the site.
The way it was structured, we had to wait and update it all at once.
We had to work feverishly between three and five, and then go live with the update between five and six.
Now we update as we go.
For example, already full transcripts and audio of two segments, two big monologue segments from today are already up.
And as Coco and the boys get better at it, it's gonna happen even faster.
And we've changed the view of the website, has more of a blog look.
And what I would suggest to you, uh, and there just isn't any way around this, don't stop scrolling.
Like I had a guy yesterday, I can't find a pearls of wisdom.
So I went to the website, well, I can't either.
Where the hell are they?
It's like, Coco, where the hell are the pearls of wisdom?
He said, Well, they're down there second to the bottom.
And I said, Well, I didn't bother scrolling that low.
Yeah, well, they're called quotes.
Oh, okay, well, better change it back to pearls of wisdom.
Nobody's gonna think quotes equals pearls of wisdom.
People like the pearls of wisdom.
I like the pearls of wisdom, they were mine.
Couldn't find my own pearls, so we're we're still working through this.
But don't stop scrolling is the point.
The website is no longer just one or two home pages.
Just keep scrolling down.
You keep scrolling down, magic happens, and you keep checking the site each and every moment because it's upgraded.
During the program, it's updated and revised.
So I got this email.
Rush, you explained it well.
Marxists think that the market, labor, goods and services, is rational and can be rationally set and can be rationally controlled.
That's what killed the Soviet Union.
As you explain, the market is not rational.
Everything, emotions, trade-offs, reason, irrational choices is thrown into the market.
And the real world market calculates all this.
And this guy, that's brevity, and that's a solo wit, and that's good, and let me explain what he means.
I spent last hour five minutes describing for you how I deal with employees here at the EIB network.
In the process, I told you that there probably aren't too many places that do it the way I do, but there are some.
Point is there is no book.
There is no textbook.
So here's how you treat employees, here's what you pay labor.
None of that is a factor to me.
What somebody else says is not the way I do it.
I do it because I'm selfish.
I know why this works.
And anybody who can do the stuff that I don't want to do so I can stay focused on what I do do, I'm gonna pay them.
I'm gonna pay them more than they can get anywhere else so they don't leave because I don't have to worry about replacing them.
And I'm probably not gonna have to worry about them being malcontents either, because there's nowhere else they can go to get any better thing.
That's just the way I choose to do it.
This guy's point is that's the market.
I may be totally irrational in the way I'm running this.
But it works for me.
And so I'm gonna keep doing it.
That may be unlike any other set of circumstances and any other small business in the country.
Who knows?
I don't, because I don't care how anybody else does it.
And I'm not a busybody, and I'm not trying to worm my way into anybody else.
Now, sometimes talk to other people who own businesses and you just share sob stories and this, but because everybody talks, but but I do this because I'm selfish.
And I don't want to be misunderstood.
I happen to know what makes all this go.
For example, if Snerdley ever came to me, this is just an example.
It could be Brian, it could be cookie.
If anybody came, I think I'm underpaid.
Fine, go do it for yourself.
Then if you can do it, better do it.
Well, I have this great understanding of why this works.
And anything that distracts me from doing what I do that make this work is not helpful.
Therefore, if I find somebody who can do the stuff that has to be done that I hate doing and I don't like doing.
Like I have a guy.
I have a guy who has one job.
It's to say no to everybody who calls, wanting me to do something.
His second job is to say no when they call back.
The third job is to say no again when they call back.
I don't want to have to answer the phone and say no, sorry, I don't want to do that.
He does it.
Well, gee, rush, always say no to everything.
99% of it.
What?
Because I don't want to do it.
There are three or four television shows that call here every day wanting me to guest.
Every day, offering full half hours if I no, don't want to do it.
And I got a guy who tells him no.
That's his job.
He's got a couple other things to do, but that's his job.
I have a no man, not a yes man.
I don't like telling people no.
So I pay somebody to do it.
It doesn't, it helps me stay focused.
Now that probably is pretty irrational.
In a textbook sense.
And to these libs, everything is textbook manageable.
The market to them makes sense.
It's rational.
And it makes sense under their phony baloney precepts, and that is labor's always getting shaft.
Management's always cheating everybody.
This is the this is the context in which they operate.
And they think if they were just put in charge in managing it, why everybody would be treated fairly and we'd have utopia and so forth.
We're witnessing a guy who thinks he can turn the country into something idealistic and utopian.
We're dealing with what happens when you've got some narcissist micromanager who thinks that he's got all the answers for everything.
And everybody who ever did anything before him screwed it up.
Didn't know what they were doing or purposely screwed up.
Now we've got a guy who doesn't have the slightest idea what he's doing, but believes he's got all the answers.
Believes that he is more profoundly correct about everything simply because everybody else is a cheat.
And this is what you get.
But this free market economy is unmanageable.
By definition, but the free market left will sort all these things out.
Now you have to have rules.
And regulations and punishment when rules are violated and so forth, and nobody's opposed to that.
But you don't have central planning.
It doesn't work.
It has never worked wherever it's been tried when talking about nations.
Just doesn't work.
It's too vibrant.
It's too uh free flowing, and it's too irrational.
Best way to describe the market.
It's just irrational.
And back to the phones we go.
This is Mary Dayton, Ohio.
Welcome to the EIB network.
Hello.
Hi, Rush.
Great to talk to you.
Thank you.
You bet.
You know, I've been watching Obama lately, and honestly, I don't think he wants a job anymore.
I don't I think there's no fire in what he's talking about, unless he's a massive.
No, that's I I must step in here.
And with all due respect, what you're seeing as no fire is rage and anger that he is no longer viewed as the Messiah, as the one that no longer has the magic to mesmerize people.
He is he's unhappy.
The reality here that he's not that big a deal to people anymore has sucked in.
He doesn't want he he it he he wants to be reelected as badly as anybody who has ever run for the office.
He's just what what what you're seeing is as uh dejection and disinterest or um or whatever is is nothing more than a narcissist facing the reality that the world doesn't revolve around him.
That's right.
And he's used to being adored, and he hasn't, and he's gotten pushback in the last year.
And you know, you may be right about that, but I just see someone that just does not seem interested.
I think he's just like to go away and have the title as past president.
If if he if he didn't want to run, he'd be out of there.
He wants to change the country.
He has said it, and he means it.
And and when when you are president, when you're president and you view your commitment not to constitutional government, not to the market system, not to individual rights, but rather to big government and socialism, group rights, uh you're not capable of promoting the common good.
You're not capable of promoting the decency that is this country.
And so you're you're you're you you you have to at least try to hide what you're really doing or mask it in some other way, which is what you're seeing.
Obama cannot be honest with you about what he really wants to do now more than ever.
So you're looking at a mishmash of a guy that ain't even teleprompters making sense to him anymore.
But he's got to go out there and try, because that's he's got to raise money.
He's ticked off that he has to do that too.
Okay, we're back, Rush Limboy, and this is the EIB network having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have.
You know, the uh liberal media, remember Joe the Plumber?
Obama rips into Joe the plumber, and a liberal media rips into Joe the plumber.
Yet while they rip into Joe the plumber, they love this guy Doug Powers who shows up at Obama's town hall meeting yesterday, begs Obama to raise his taxes.
But Joe the plumber who says, wait, wait a minute, man.
Hi, uh uh we're taxed enough here.
What are you what are you trying to do to us?
I don't want to spread the wealth around, Joe.
Well.
Joe, the non Jew plumber, by the way, as opposed to Jewish plumber, Jewish janitor, what have you.
Now, that's true.
If you weren't here yesterday, you're not going to understand the reference.
It was uh we had a soundbite with Obama who called janitors Jews and stopped himself and said, No, I mean janitor.
So he's when he looks at janitors, he thinks Jews are when he looks at Jews, he thinks janitors one of the two.
We couldn't figure it out.
But don't blame me.
Simply reacting to the uh president of the United States.
Now, folks, don't think this guy doesn't want to be re-elected.
He wants to change the country, and he's nowhere near finished.
And if you if you don't believe in the market system, if you don't believe in individual rights, all these sorts of things, if you're not committed to constitutional government, but instead to big government, socialism, group rights, you're not capable of promoting the American dream, folks.
It's just not possible.
Barack Obama and the Democrat Party are not capable of promoting the American dream.
They tear it down, they mock it, and they attack it.
Look at what Obama the Democrats are willing to accept here.
They are willing to accept high unemployment, high foreclosure rates, other consequences of economic disarray, because that's the price, and unjust people must pay in his view to change the nation.
He sees us the same way Elizabeth Warren does.
We have to pay for what we have unfairly acquired, achieved, or become, because we did it on the backs of everybody else around the world.
So we lose our jobs?
Fine.
How does it feel?
You lose your font your house?
Fine.
How does it feel?
Your house loses half its value?
Fine.
How does it feel?
They think they are here to square everything.
Because we are illegitimate and unjust.
So hello, high unemployment.
That has been one of the purposes.
High foreclosure rates.
This is not an accident.
It's not a consequence of incompetence.
It's by design.
When you when you listen to Obama on a stump, when you listen to his nasty tone, which is what our caller called about, you listen to his name calling, you listen to the class warfare, you hear his supporters with their racism charges, their thug language.
Who and what does it remind you of?
I'll tell you who and what it reminds me of, Jeremiah Wright.
We are hearing Jeremiah Wright.
When Obama gets testy and ticked off out on the campaign trail.
We are learning that he heard Reverend Wright all those twenty years.
His message, his tone, his beliefs sound like Jeremiah Wright on the pulpit.
When he starts dropping his G, starts getting all angry and ticked off.
I even heard somebody talk about chickens coming home to roost the other day from the campaign.
Wish I could remember who I heard say that.
But regardless.
Sounds just like Jeremiah Wright.
When he gets all mad, angry, starts chiding the congressional black caucus.
Message tone.
Beliefs.
That's why he was attracted to Jeremiah Wright and his church in the first place is because you strip away the facade.
And what you have here is an angry young guy ticked off.
Now whatever he thinks are the injustices and the inequities of this country.
Barack Obama getting in touch with his inner Reverend Wright.
He even talks honky around white people.
You know what I mean by that, certainly.
You might have to explain it to Rachel, who is as white-bred as anybody I knew.
But he talks honky.
Let's go to audio soundbite number twelve.
Obama bristling on B.E.T., the black community giving him a hard time.
This was uh the anchor Emmett Miller interviewing Obama.
And he asked Obama to consider the plight of a hypothetical young African American Chicago South Side.
Father gone, mother working ten hours a day for peanuts, no jobs.
Said, you won't even say, look, I'm gonna help you.
He said that to Obama.
You won't even say I'm gonna help you.
And Obama said, That's not what people are saying.
Then he added this.
I want to make sure that you don't just kind of slip in there with this notion that African-American leaders of late have been critical.
There have been a handful of African American leaders who've been critical.
They were critical when I was running for president.
So there's always going to be somebody who's critical of the president of the United States.
I don't want you slipping in there.
This notion African American leaders have later been critical.
Well, let's go back to this program.
Yesterday, I asked this question after hearing Obama say, take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes, shake it off.
I have a question for the official Obama criticizer.
Is there something is that code for something bedroom slippers is in uh popular parlance?
Not that I've heard.
Not that you've heard.
And you would have heard it.
There's no question.
I just wanted to make sure here bedroom slippers.
But maybe in the other circles that Obama travels in.
Well, that's the thing.
You know, that's what I'm thinking in the other circles that he travels in.
Let me take a little survey.
Just here amongst my own staff.
Mr. Snertley, do you wear bedroom slippers?
Rachel, you wear uh bedroom slippers.
Brian?
I I I have never owned a pair.
Even, you know, they when you when you go to hotel, sometimes they have well, cheap invitations.
I mean, I don't even wear those.
Who wears these things?
Anyway, it just it's it's it's fascinating here to get a window on this guy.
All right, bedroom slippers.
Take off the bedroom slippers and put on the marching shoes.
Last night CNN situation room Wolf Blitzer with Maxine Waters.
I think Obama was complaining.
He was talking about Cornell West have been talking about him, as you know, and at least um remarks that you've made, Max Wheel Maxine, other White House officials have said, why is Maxine Waters complaining so much?
Doesn't she realize Obama wants improved the economy, the job situation for everybody?
Maxine Waters does not complain.
Maxine Waters does two things public policy and organizing.
I don't go around complaining, and so I don't really think he was talking to us.
Are the people in that room So you're gonna take off your slippers and you're gonna get out there and march with him?
I've never owned a pair of bedroom slippers.
Oh, so Maxine doesn't even have a pair of bedroom slippers.
And now she says that Obama just got excited and insulted the Congressional Black Caucus by accident.
President can get to know the black caucus a lot better.
I think there should be more interaction.
I think we should work on strategies together.
I think that there's a lot of room for a lot more cooperation.
I think he got carried away, he got fired up.
He meant to talk about what he wanted to do, but I think he knew that he was talking to hardworking members of the Congressional Black Caucus and civil rights leaders and workers who have been doing this for years, who have been marching for years and really understands what it means to march, not people sitting around in bed slippers, a house shoes.
Shassy, he didn't mean it.
He didn't really mean none of that.
He was he's just not even talking about the Congressional Black Caucus.
He was talking about uh the black congressional Caucasians.
He just got it all screwed up out there.
Maxine um wasn't finished.
It was with Tamron Hall on MSNBC there.
Well, what is your reaction to that speech, by the way, Maxine?
Uh take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes, shake it off.
What's your reaction to that?
I don't know who the president was talking to.
Certainly not the Congressional Black Caucus.
We have been working hard.
Not only have we been doing the job fairs in the town halls, but we've spent a lot of time documenting the misery and the unemployment and the joblessness.
So he certainly wasn't talking to us.
We didn't go on vacation.
We were actually working during our break.
We didn't go on vacation.
I was gonna say it sounds like Maxine's back on the leash, but with the vacation comment.
Well, you know, she asked to be unleashed.
She was she asked her supporters to be unleashed in going after Obama and her supporters unleashed her.
Then she went after Obama.
Now Obama didn't mean it when he replied.
He wasn't talking about her, so she back on the leash.
Last night on the Tavis Smiley Show, PBS.
Getting ugly out there, folks.
Talked to Representative Sheila Jackson Lee of Mars, and uh during a discussion about Obama's remarks to the uh black congressional Caucasians, Sheila Jackson Lee said, of course, such as taking off bedroom slippers and marching, that I will say to you in the auditorium that night, the audience was on their feet.
They were caught up in the idea that here is a captain that is going to write the ship that he is not going to allow us to sink.
And the words didn't have the impact of dissection or analysis.
It was we're going to march, we're going to fight.
So Sheila Jackson Lee was inspired by the bedroom slippers comment.
Uh, rest of the black community's insulted by it, but she's inspired.
That uh did it well, I think so.
It's as good a guess as anybody else's just what she meant.
Uh, but it was we're gonna march, we're gonna fight.
So she didn't dissect it.
She just dissected it.
Well, they didn't dissect it, they were so inspired.
And now the congressional black Caucasians are going on vacation for another week along with everybody else in Congress.
Words didn't have the words of dissection.
We need a translator here, and I don't have time for it.
One more.
Tavis Smiley responded to her.
Tavis, I guess understood what she said.
People cheering and jumping up and down when they crucified Jesus.
So the fact that people are jumping up and down cheering don't mean that what's going down is right.
Would the president ever say to an audience of our Jewish brothers and sisters concerned about the crisis in the Middle East, stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying?
Would this president ever say to Wall Street, stop grumbling, stop complaining, stop crying?
Would he ever say to our Hispanic brothers and sisters on immigration and their concerns?
Stop grumbling, stop crying, stop complaining.
Did he say to gays and lesbians, stop grumbling, stop complaining, stop crying?
How does he get away with saying this to black folk when he would never form his lips to ever say that to any other constituency?
Say what it is.
Red on.
Right on, dude, say what it is.
Do you hear that?
He wouldn't ask all these other communities of brothers and sisters to do this, but why is he asking a black brothers and said, by the way, did you notice gays and lesbians are not Tavis's brothers and sisters either?
He didn't turn.
Have you noticed, folks?
Let's look at all the groups that are mad at Obama.
The blacks are now divided over Obama.
Hispanics are not happy over Obama.
Gays and lesbians are having their problems with Obama.
White independents are running away from Obama.
Who far the only group Obama hasn't ticked off is who, Rachel?
Muslims.
We haven't heard from them.
They don't seem to be ticked off about anything.
Everybody else is.
By the way, Zeph Chaffitz who wrote the book on me, the uh one-man army, Army of One, Army of One.
It's out today in paperback.
And uh people ask me, uh, is any good, Russia?
I read it.
It is.
I I participated.
It's not a biography.
I didn't, I didn't participate in it.
I mean, I did participate in it.
I granted, I spent a lot of time talking to the author, and it is.
It is an excellent, excellent book.
It really is.
It would be uh uh actually an ideal book for those of you who already know who I am to hand it off to a liberal buddy.
It's out in paper back today at uh at Amazon.
I meant to mention this earlier today.
Zev Chaffetz is the author, and it's uh Army of One is the title of the book.
Snurdley, would you save Harry?
Get Harry's number, we called him tomorrow.
He wants to talk About an interview that I did with John Boehner, which he says exposed everything happening now.
And uh I want to talk to Harry.
He's from Grants, New Mexico.
I want to find out what he's talking about.
So we'll call him back if Harry consents to this tomorrow.
And I do want to talk about the regime's decision not to appeal their healthcare laws at the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
So we'll do that tomorrow.
And uh a lot of other stuff.
But I gotta go now.
Be right back, though, to wrap it up.
President Obama has issued his annual Rosh Hashanah greeting, wishing all who celebrate the holiday a year of peace.
This is for you Jewish janitors everywhere who are always in Obama's thoughts.
