Time Text
And greetings to your music lovers, thrill seekers, and conversationalists all across the fruited plain El Rushball behind the golden EIB microphone.
800-282-2882 is the phone number if you'd like to be on the program, and we will be getting to your phone calls in this hour.
Email address L Rushball at EIBNet.com.
If you missed the first hour of this program, let me sum it up for you.
Liberalism is a lie.
All of liberalism is a lie.
The media are liberals and they promulgate lies.
We know that the man-made global warming hoax is now a hoax.
Emails from members of the climate research unit that responsible for the UN's climate panel prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that data was rigged, made up, ignored, all to advance a political agenda.
Liberalism is a lie, and people who are liberals have to lie about what liberalism is in order for it to have any chance at all at the ballot box or in any other democratic situation.
I now have for you two illustrative sound bites that are purely disgusting.
They both come from our president this morning in Washington.
He launched the Educate to Innovate campaign, a nationwide effort that will motivate and inspire young people across the country to excel in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Here's a portion of his remarks.
We live in a world of unprecedented perils, but also unparalleled potential.
Our medical system holds the promise of unlocking new cures.
But it's attached to a health care system that's bankrupting families and businesses and our government.
The sources of energy that power our economy are also endangering our planet.
We confront threats to our security that seek to exploit the very openness that is this uh is essential to our prosperity.
And we face challenges in a global marketplace that link the trader to Wall Street, to the homeowner on Main Street, to the office worker in America, to the factory worker in China, an economy in which we all share an opportunity, but we also share, unfortunately, in crisis.
Vast majority of that is just pure bilk.
The vast majority of that is just drivel.
We do live in a world of unprecedented perils, and now they include internal perils, and he is one of them.
Our medical system holds the promise of unlocking new cures, but it won't if his health care bill is passed.
Our health care system is not bankrupting families and business and our government.
is.
President Obama is bankrupting families, businesses, and government.
The sources of energy that power our economy are not endangering our planet.
He may not have heard that anthropological global warming, man-made global warming, is a hoax yet.
He may not have heard that.
I doubt that he hasn't heard it.
He has heard it.
He knows it's a hoax.
He knows it's a Gore knows it's a hoax.
They all have known it's a hoax.
It's just the latest diving board that they have used to jump into the pool with the next liberal policy.
We confront threats to our security that seek to exploit the very openness that's essential to our prosperity, like bringing terrorists to New York City for a criminal trial that the president is doing, certainly exposing us to threats.
And we face challenges in a global marketplace that wink that we do because President Obama is bankrupting the country and running up trade deficits, balance of trade deficits.
It's a disaster in the making, all by design.
But in the next bite, you will hear our president say all these problems can be solved.
The key to meeting these challenges to improving our health and well-being, to harnessing clean energy, to protecting our security and succeeding in the global economy will be reaffirming and strengthening America's role as the world's engine of scientific discovery and technological innovation.
And that leadership Tomorrow depends on how we educate our students today, especially in those fields that hold the promise of producing future innovations and innovators.
And that's why education in math and science is so important.
He's right.
Except science has been politicized.
The science curriculum at every level has been politicized and is now just one of the many weapons the left uses to advance its agenda via love.
After lie, after lie.
The key to meeting these challenges to improving our health and well-being to harnessing clean energy, protecting our security, succeeding in the global economy will be reaffirming and strengthening America's role as the world engine, which is being destroyed.
The world engine is one of the things Barack Obama does not like about this country.
America being the world's engine is something he's out to change.
Jeremiah Wright doesn't like it.
Bill Ayers doesn't like it.
Frank Marshall Davis, who raised Obama, doesn't like it.
Obama's father did not like the United States being the engine of the world.
Calypso Louis Farrakhan does not like the United States of America being the engine of the world.
These are all friends and associates of President Barack Obama.
He doesn't like America being the engine of the world either.
How can you say that, Rice?
It it took 15 years for people to trust me and believe me on global warming.
I was out there all alone for all those years, with the first environmentalist wacko updates trying to warn people about Earth first, trying to destroy the timber industry, what they were really all about.
Because I was not a scientist, people initially rejected.
But after a while, the kooks got kooky enough that and the weather didn't cooperate with these people and so forth, and the truth eventually will out.
But by the way, I don't think that's over.
I don't think they're just going to give up the cause.
Don't for a moment think that.
Um The New York Times or Washington Post will say, ah, those emails are taken out of context.
Of course, they don't give us the context of the emails in their reporting.
They just say the emails are out of context.
So when I tell you that Barack Obama does not like the United States being the engine of the world, and you say, How can you say it?
Common sense again, folks.
I know who he is.
I know who educated him.
I know who raised him, I know who his mentors were, I know who his friends are, and I only had to listen to him apologize for his own country once to have all of those associations confirmed and their importance.
I only had to read about a brother of his that lives in a six by nine foot hut in Kenya.
Obama will not help.
He's asked his family to apply for government grants somewhere that live in that village in Kenya.
He won't help them personally.
But somehow he's the nicest, most compassionate, smartest, most elegant president we've ever had.
I'm sorry, I know liberals, folks.
I know liberals, I know the premise of liberalism, and once, you know, it's very it's very easy.
It's a tough thing to accept it, but once you do, everything after that is easy.
Liberalism is a lie.
I know many of you know liberals.
And you think they're nice people, maybe just wrong.
You don't want to think of them as liars.
You prefer to think of them as just misguided or wrong.
They're liars.
Many of the rank and file liberals are dupes, well-intentioned, have no idea what they're actually supporting.
They fall into this, I feel good about myself.
I see a homeless person, I say, oh, why don't we do something?
I'm a good person.
Haven't done anything.
You've just thought something and make you feel like you're a good person.
Conservatism solves problems.
Liberalism blows them up and amplifies them in the name of fixing them.
So once you accept that every liberal politician in Washington Or your state capital, or on your city town council, is a liberal and therefore is a liar, then the rest is easy.
You simply don't believe anything they say.
And you will be right.
But Rice, I don't want to go through life that way.
Well, okay, if you don't want to, I'll handle it for you.
Quick timeout after this, we'll be back.
By the way, ladies and gentlemen, have you heard the news?
Have you heard the news, ladies and gentlemen?
The lawyer, a lawyer for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, has announced that he will plead not guilty.
The five men facing trial in the 9-11 attacks will plead not guilty, so that they can air their criticisms of U.S. foreign policy.
The lawyer for one of the defendants said yesterday, Scott Finstermaker.
That's a great name for a guy taking on these guys.
Scott Finstermaker, the attorney for accused terrorist Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, said the men would not deny their role, but would explain what happened and why they did it.
Exactly as I told you.
The United States will be on trial.
Eric Holder knows it.
Barack Obama knows it.
It's being done on purpose.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed knows it, and he's happy about it.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in the recording studio over the weekend.
Lawyers got him in there.
We have it exclusively on the EIB network.
KSM doing Sinatra.
And there you have it exclusively on the EIB network, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
New York, New York.
Another brilliant piece by white comedian Paul Shanklin.
There's a uh piece here from a blog called the um green sheet.
The uh blogger here, Joe Wiesenthal.
On Friday last week, oil refiner Valero announced the complete shutdown of a plant in Delaware City, resulting in the loss of over 500 high-paying jobs.
Edward Harrison of Credit Wired Downs.com argues that the fact that Valero had to shut down this plant, which was losing about a million dollars a day.
It's an oil refinery, indicates that the real economy where consumers actually buy gasoline is the pump, as opposed to the financial economy where barrels of crude trade at elevated levels, the real economy remains weak.
Liberalism is happy.
Big oil is one of their enemies.
Valero, of course, not big oil, medium oil.
But still it's oil.
They hate oil.
They demonize oil.
So an oil refinery shutting down, 500 jobs.
How's that hope and change working for you?
Tina, as we go to the phones now, Tina in Long Valley, New Jersey.
Great to have you on the EIB network.
Hello.
Hi, Rush.
It's an honor.
Can't believe I'm talking to you.
Um I'm talking to you because I am so angry.
I feel like this vote on Saturday was a trick.
I feel like they are sneaking this past us because they know that it's the weekend, it's uh before Thanksgiving and the holidays.
We're busy with our family, with our kids.
We don't have time to pay attention.
And and like you said, um, you know, this bill is two thousand pages, and the other bill is two thousand pages.
And I like many others, I'm trying to do what you said, trying to be the go-to guy.
But it's it's overwhelming.
I mean, I'm gonna see my family this weekend, and I want to be informed.
But Rush, I have four kids.
I'm busy.
I I'm so angry that I I feel like this is a part-time job that I have, trying to keep up with this.
Uh, you know, Well, let me comfort you just a little.
There's nothing anybody could have done about this vote, whether it took place Saturday or Friday or today.
It was always going to get sixty votes to start debate.
It's a procedural vote, and that was always gonna happen.
Lieberman voted for it, and he's not gonna vote for anything like this.
He's gonna join the filibuster.
Um, that's what they say, but no, I I don't know who to believe anymore.
Well, that's that that's true too.
I have to have to give you.
You mentioned last week trying uh, you know, being the person to be informed.
Yeah.
And that led me to read that article that you um referred in the American thinker.
Which I read that, and that led me to read, I'm reading right now, The Road to Serfdom.
And I I am I am in in shock and disbelief at how this is all happening again, and these people are using the same words.
They lie.
They lie in the name of good intentions, compassion, and fairness.
They have created political correctness to censor any opposing speech.
And you know, I'm reading this book and I'm and I'm so angry again because I'm uh all this information in this book is available to all these people who call themselves our leaders.
They know all this.
They know where a little bit of socialism leads to more socialism, which leads to totalitarianism.
What when you say our leaders, do you mean Democrats and Republicans or just Democrats?
Well, uh I guess I mean mainly the Democrats, but you know, then I then I see like Chuck Schumer on something at some morning show, and I see him say the Republicans have no bill.
And and I don't know if that's true or not, but I I bet you people watching think that it's true.
See, that's just diversionary.
That the Republicans have ideas, but that's not the the plan here.
The plan is to stop this.
This has to be stopped.
You say don't the Democrats know where they're taking us.
This is another hard one for people to believe.
They know exactly where they're taking us.
Oh, I believe it.
Some people some people think the Democrats are delusional that uh that they're not going to lose seats.
They're not delusional, they know exactly what they're doing.
They are willing to lose seats to get this passed.
Because you know, like like you said, I mean, in the in the past, when when there have been t troubled times with my husband and I was finances or whatever, I've always felt like it's gonna be okay.
And now I realize that I felt that way because the rest of that sentence was it's gonna be okay because we live in America where there's second and third and fourth chances.
And I hate to say this, but I don't feel like that anymore.
I don't feel it.
I feel uneasy for my kids and and for myself.
Well, we're not quite to that point.
We've got to stop health care.
We do have a bunch of indebtedness.
You're re your very right to be concerned about your kids and grandkids.
This uh health care bill is largely a massive, massive tax increase, which is what cap and trade would essentially be a massive tax increase.
Um this is still America.
And that means you it's still worth fighting for for you and your kids.
It still is.
That's why I'm here in Nut in New Zealand.
It still is.
You're doing the right thing by reading Hayek.
That's a great book.
And welcome back, Rush Limbaugh, talent on the loan from God.
Happy to have you here.
Telephone number 800 282-2882.
If you want to be on the program, we go to Brandon, Mississippi.
This is Scott.
Hello, sir.
Hey, Rush, thank you so much for being America's go-to guy.
Let me go straight to my point.
Uh these climate research uh unit emails, I guess they concern me.
There's been uh growing discussion that some level of civil unrest is gonna be required uh to get this government to pay any attention to the will of the people.
And uh it's obvious these emails were released in some fashion, whether it's a whistleblower or a hacker, uh in some way they were obtained illegally and disseminated without the consent or permission of the parties involved in the emails.
While I do believe a greater good definitely was served by the release of this information, I guess I need you to tell me how I'm supposed to feel about it in light of how it was obtained and and the manner in which we've learned this information.
Uh let's see.
Uh did you read the New York Times today?
Sir, I don't read the New York Times any day.
Okay, good.
Because the New York Times says they're not gonna publish uh emails that are not intended for the public eye.
Even after they publish the Pentagon papers and war plans in Iraq and other damaging items To the uh to the Bush administration.
Um at this point, I'm not concerned.
I mean, we have whistleblowers.
We don't know that this was a hack.
Uh we have whistleblowers, and all I know is that liberal Democrats reward whistleblowers who blow the whistle on Republicans and conservatives.
We are in a war.
We are in a war to save the United States of America from being remade into something that you and I would not recognize it.
Or recognize.
And people are very much alarmed about this.
I am for anything that exposes truth.
Truth has become too big a casualty in our culture, in our society, in our media, and in our politics.
Everything, it seems, is a lie to one degree or another.
And the people who do not go along with the lie, who do not believe the lie are called extremists.
Somebody in this organization, if it's a whistleblower, one of two things.
Either somebody's got their nose out of joint over the way they're being treated by somebody in that organization, or they've got a guilty conscience.
And they can no longer sit by and be part of this while they watch an absolute fraud and hoax take place.
So I myself am never alarmed when the truth happens, when the truth is made, when the truth is revealed.
I am not bothered.
Thanks, Scott, very much.
I mentioned to you, uh ladies and gentlemen, that they're starting to make fun of President Obama on Saturday Night Live, and they're not making fun of his personality or his ears or his big head, or his weight loss, or whatever else.
They're making fun of his policies.
Now, from their perspective, they're making fun of his policies because he's not getting them done, they think.
But we'll take it.
Oh, wait a minute.
Uh just a second.
I've got Mark, it's number four we're gonna start at number three.
Not number three.
Saturday Night Live, they opened the show with a skit, parodying uh Obama, who was played by Fred Armison, in a press conference with the Chicon leader Hu Xin Pao.
And here's a portion of the skit.
Are we going to get our money?
Your country is in the middle of a serious recession.
Well, uh, while this is true, there are signs that our bailout has steadied the financial markets, and our stimulus package has been effective in fixing the uh job crisis.
I'm curious about how many jobs has it created so far, none.
I see.
Uh, but our health care reform plan, we're confident is going to lead to enormous savings.
Uh Charles Tony.
How exactly is extending health care coverage to 30 million people going to save you money?
I don't know.
Saturday Night Live making fun of Obama's policies.
Making him look less than intelligent, making him look like a doofus.
Now remember, Saturday Night Live believed that Obama was going to create jobs.
They have the liberals over there thought, oh, it's going to be the greatest country in the world's gonna love it.
They bought into all of it.
And it's not happening.
And everybody knows they can talk, but there's there's uh some story out today about about home sales, pre-existing home sales up 10%.
Guess what?
You ever heard of the first the first-time homebuyer tax credit?
It's the same thing with cash for clunkers.
You know what the real lesson here is that tax cuts cause economic activity.
Cash for clunkers was a tax cut.
That you're gonna pay taxes on, by the way.
You may not know it.
Uh and and this uh $8,000 credit on your mortgage first time, it's a tax cut.
But still it isn't real.
It's not real.
It's economic activity that would not have happened were there not incentives thrown in.
This just shows that the incentives that we're using are wrong.
These two little ones here illustrate what we ought to be doing across the board to create jobs, and that is incentivize small businesses to grow, invest, And hire people.
Stop the extension of unemployment benefits.
We'll never do that, but that would be one of the key ingredients.
Here's another portion of that skit from Saturday Night Live.
And this Cash for Clunkers program.
I have read that you purchased many clunkers with our money.
Yes, we have.
What does this word clunkers mean?
Well, a uh clunker is all like a clunker ease.
And just so there is no misunderstanding.
You are not allowed to pay us back in clunkers.
Of course not.
You know, as I listen to you, I am noticing that each of your plans to save money involves spending even more money.
This does not inspire confidence.
Barack Obama roasted, ridiculed, lamped, impugned by Saturday Night Live.
That's Hu Jintao talking to Obama in a skit parroting their press conference.
I'm noticing each of your plans to save money involves spending even more money.
This does not inspire confidence.
They're making fun of his policies, folks.
Policies, not caricaturing his personality or anything like that.
Here is Judy in Payson, Arizona.
Great to have you on the EIB network.
Hello.
Hi, Rush.
Thanks for what you do, and God bless you.
Thank you.
Same to you.
Thank you.
I was just calling because I saw an article in the Wall Street Journal from a few weeks ago about the island of Vanuatu.
Their president or whatever, I don't I can't remember it was the prime minister or whatever, uh, said that we were go, you know, with the global warming, they were going to be uh enveloped in water and overcome with the rising oceans.
And that uh uh reporter said that in that country the people are dying of malaria, they don't have electricity, um they have to go uh for three hours to find a doctor, and this guy's worried about that.
I you know, it it's incredible that because he was trying to fleece the West, you know.
It was of course everything was our fault, and all uh you know, the dollars would just flow into his country.
But uh I I was just astounded by what was really going on there because I really never knew.
Uh they're suffering from malaria in a lot of parts of the world because we got scammed by a woman named Rachel Carson, who led to the banning of DDT.
If we just put DDT back in, we'd cut malaria dramatically.
As to the rest, this guy's a liberal.
Liberals lie, and he's got a liberal or socialist type culture, and that's why his people are impoverished, and that's why he wants everybody to believe in global warming, because that he's gonna he's joining the crowd that wants to fleece the United States.
Right.
Right.
It's unbelievable, Rush.
I I and I remember years ago when you first announced that when Mikhail Gorbachev wandered over to California, he went into the Green Party, and I've never ever forgotten that.
I thought, wow, you know, where can you go to destroy business?
And he wandered right into that.
Right into the Green Party.
Yes, sir.
They even gave him an office in the Presidio somewhere.
Yeah, I I remember that.
I remember the day you announced it.
Yeah.
Well, you know, the uh your your illustration of this guy in this little uh failing island country is is an excellent accompaniment to if if I have a theme today to the theme.
And here you've got a guy whose population is literally impoverished and dying.
And what's he talking about?
Sea levels rising when they aren't.
He's just he's he's part of the cabal.
He's joined the chorus, the fear-mongering crowd.
Uh and they don't care about people.
You know, they're putting people first, they always say when that's the Clinton's slogan.
They don't care about people.
And your guy that you talked about seeing last night on TV whenever you saw it is is proof of it.
Obama doesn't care about people.
If he did, he would at least show some emotional connection when talking about the unemployment rate, which is really 17 and a half percent.
One in five Americans is either unemployed or underemployed right now.
He's not cool and calm.
The guy is cold.
But the there's so many notions that we just have to sweep away that liberals care about the little guy, that liberals care about people.
It's not, they care about themselves and government.
Pure and simple.
We'll be back.
I should have mentioned this to our last caller because uh she was from Arizona.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpayo is the Republican's best shot at holding on to the Arizona governorship in 2010 against the likely Democrat candidate Terry Goddard.
A new Rasmussen reports telephone survey of Arizona voters finds Arpeo, famed for his crackdowns on illegal immigrants, leading Goddard, who is the state's current attorney general by twelve points, 51 to 39.
No.
How can that be?
I wonder what the reason for that is.
Fifty-one to 39, Joe Arpaillo.
And he's uh famed for his crackdown on illegal immigrants.
Interesting.
George in Chicago.
Welcome to the EIB network.
Hello.
Rush, uh, thanks for taking my call.
I appreciate it.
Uh well, there are in a number of issues I'd love to come and talk to you about.
Uh there's there's one in particular I felt I wanted to get into today, most recently, and over a period of time, you've discussed this a number of times, and that is why do some Americans hate America?
What could possibly be an explanation?
I've got a certain take on it.
While I don't necessarily agree with the explanation, these might be considered uh possible explanations.
Now, there's a good and a bad aspect to these explanations.
First of all.
Wait a second.
You you just you don't agree with what you're going to just now say.
I don't agree with the explanations.
For those who I think that uh that are America haters.
But I believe this is some of their reasoning.
Basically, there are some who are simply embarrassed and self-conscious about America's success and influence.
Uh America, as we are about to now celebrate, uh recollection, has a foundation of being a very modest country in general, not being a particularly braggadocious one for the most part.
And I think the haters take this foundation to an absurd, misguided, and extreme extent in an effort to apologize for our success.
So here a good basic underlying reasoning is convoluted and taken to really stupid and irrational extensions just to help them justify the haters, justify their own uh, I guess, self-consciousness.
What do you think of that?
As at least a possible explanation for some.
Because it's other than that, I can't think of any rational explanation.
So it's psychological.
Yeah.
Yeah.
There are people who who feel self-conscious.
There's a history in America of essentially being a modest country.
And yet there are those who are so self-conscious about it, they feel they have to go to extremes, like a Michael Moore, to find negativism and to uh apologize for our successes.
And I think it's just a good basic foundation taken to an excessive extent.
Uh what um who's are you saying the haters have a good basic foundation, or do you talk about the country?
The country does, and I think the haters they pick up on it.
In other words, there's a basic underlying foundation in America that everybody, you know, knows, even the m the haters know about, and they feel self-conscious.
And as part of essentially liberals, there is this great self-consciousness that feels they have to go to an opposite extreme, take the you know, move the pendulum over offset it.
Uh self-consciousness, uh guilt, yeah.
Constantly thinking about themselves.
Yeah, I'm personalizing everything.
When they hear a politician say the the world hates us, they think they're personally hated, and they want to show, no, no, don't hate me.
I'm a good person.
I agree with you.
This country sucks.
Agreed.
And I think, you know, because what else could be an explanation for those who who you know exhibit this kind of activity.
Well, something way underlying there's something inherent.
And I've never heard anybody explain it this way.
It depends on how you want to define rational.
Uh I would contend to you that there are plenty of otherwise rational people who hate the country because of ideology.
They're just socialists.
Oh, yeah, or communists or whatever, and they do not like the concept of individual liberty and freedom.
And these are the people who have given us modern-day academia, they have given us political correctness.
Political correctness is simply liberal censorship.
So that they don't have to hear what they don't want to hear.
And so that you can't say what you really want to say.
That's all political correctness is.
it's got us by the throat.
Today, people who do not conform to politically correct approaches in saying things, a person like myself, look at what is said about those people.
Extremist, racist, bigot, sexist, homophobe.
So the greatest casualty with liberalism, the greatest casualty in political correctness is truth.
And that then, as we're witnessing, leads to an erosion of freedom.
Here is uh Karen in Fishers, Indiana.
Great to have you on the EIB network.
Hello.
Rush.
Um, Major Megahoosier Didddo's, 17 year listener, thank you so much for all you're doing.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
I just wanted to call and tell you that basically I am very, very frustrated today when I'm calling Washington and I can't get an answer from anyone.
I tried calling one of my senators, Evan Bay, I live in Indiana.
Um he's been a senator for 11 years.
We have a 2,000-page health care bill floating out there, and I was told that he is reserving judgment on it.
Hasn't made up his mind yet.
Probably.
Uh, maybe true.
That this this vote Saturday night was simply there wasn't gonna be a Democrat that was gonna vote no to start debate on this.
That does that I think people had unreasonable expectations about this vote on Saturday.
It was always gonna happen.
It was fate accomplished.
But let me, they have shut the phones off.
You can't get through to them.
I had people were calling all day Friday and all day Thursday, getting busy signals.
Switchboard was practically shut down or overloaded.
They're not talking to you.
If you do get through, you're gonna get an ambivalent answer.
Well, uh hadn't made up his mind yet.
I'll get back to you.
So forth.
They don't want to hear from they know what you think already.
They know what you think, Karen.
They know what 70% of the country thinks.
They don't care.
They are willing to lose seats to get this passed because they'll get their seats back in a couple years, they think.
If they lose them in the first place.
Be right back, folks.
And we are back.
Uh, we're gonna take a brief break here at the top of the hour, folks, but uh get this.
The powerful chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, David Obi, said to ABC News and to Obama, there ain't gonna be money for nothing if we pour it all into Afghanistan.
If we're gonna go into Afghanistan with more troops, Obi warns Obama that they're gonna ask taxpayers to pay for it.
The taxpayers pay for everything as it is.
What would be different about this?
Export Selection
