Greetings, my fellow citizens and fellow Americans.
You are tuned to America's Truth Detector, America's Doctor of Democracy.
This is the EIB Network, and it is Friday.
Live from the Southern Command in sunny South Florida, it's Open Line Friday.
Telephone number, Open Line Friday, 800-282-2882.
The email address LRushbo at EIBNet.com.
When we go to the phones on Open Line Friday, whatever you want to talk about is fine, but you got to be honest.
You cannot lie about what you want to talk about.
You don't have to lie to get on this program.
Not on Friday.
800-282-2882.
I want to go back.
I want to go back to audio soundbite number 25, the White House press briefing this afternoon.
Bill Plant from CBS Provda talking to Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary.
Remember, now last June, Biden was on Meet the Press.
Yeah, we just guessed wrong on the stimulus.
Bush left us in such bad shape.
We had no idea.
We just guessed wrong on the number of jobs it created.
But today at 3 o'clock, they're going to release the actual number of jobs created and saved because of Obama's stimulus plan.
And here's how this we learned this, Bill Plant, with a question and answer session here with Robert Gibbs.
You're making these jobs that you say have been counted so carefully sound like a scientific, a number that can be observed scientifically.
At 3 o'clock, you'll be able to observe it holistically on your computer.
Each one of these so-called saved or created jobs represents a concrete new job or saved job.
Yes.
Or two part-time job?
Yes.
Your critics don't believe that it's possible to count anything like that.
Our critics didn't think the recovery plan would help the economy grow, but I think the critics, if you put 50 cents in the newspaper machine and pull the arm, you'll see that our critics haven't been so right.
All right, so you heard him.
They've got a scientific formula.
They can prove, document every job saved and every job created.
Now, I'm close to losing my temper here.
Mr. Gibbs, your boss has destroyed millions of jobs.
Your boss, Barack Obama, has destroyed millions of small businesses.
Your boss, Mr. Gibbs, and you're a party to this because you promote this disaster.
Your boss has destroyed the lives of countless American families.
What is this excrement about jobs saved or jobs created?
Barack Obama is destroying this economy.
He is destroying management.
He's destroying assembly lines.
He's destroying opportunity.
He's destroying hope.
He's destroying liberty for future generations.
He hasn't created or saved a damn thing.
Barack Obama destroys.
He destroys and destroys.
The only jobs he's created are government jobs.
He stole money, just like Pelosi is figuring and planning to stealing money.
With no accountability, Obama has stolen money from the private sector and paid people to work for him so that he can steal more.
This administration is engaging in unconstitutional acts.
This country does not provide constitutionally for a PASA to tell anybody what they can and cannot earn.
This constitution does not provide for the government to mandate its citizens buy anything.
He is destroying homeownership.
Barack Obama is.
He is destroying entrepreneurship.
He is destroying the industrial heart of this nation.
He is trying to destroy the military.
Barack Obama creates nothing but havoc and unsettledness and angst and Peggy Noonan disheartenment.
Barack Obama is a destroyer, not a creator.
The only people creating and saving is us, the American people.
The American people are doing everything they can to save their jobs.
Small businesses are doing everything they can to hold on to their employees and maybe hire some more.
The economic heart of this engine is its people.
It is not Barack Obama.
The intellectual heart of this nation is our people.
It is not Barack Obama.
The last best hope of this nation is our people.
It is not Barack Obama.
Barack Obama is an obstacle in the way of the people who make this country work.
And it is an insult to my intelligence.
It is audacious for this man and his administration to be putting out fraudulent, phony numbers about the numbers of jobs he has created or saved.
We have lost 3.3 million jobs since Barack Obama was inaugurated.
That's, if you want to talk about lost, created, saved, you can add up all the created and saved you want, and you can try this phony game.
Well, it'd be even worse if we hadn't done what we did.
It is as bad as it is and getting worse precisely because of what Obama has done.
If there is any growth in this country, and if there is any hope, it is from the American people, not from Barack Obama, not from Nancy Pelosi, not from Harry Reid, not from Barney Frank.
We are living in the most unreal times.
Government is to blame for whatever problems we have.
And now with Pelosi out there at her massive health care scheme, which is nothing more than an attack on liberty and freedom and some of the most outrageous tax increases that you have ever heard about piled on top of the mess that they've already created.
No, my friends, this administration isn't creating anything.
This administration isn't saving anything.
This administration is destroying on purpose.
This administration say we want to remake America.
We want to remake it.
They don't like the way America was founded.
They don't like the way America was constituted.
None of Obama's buddies that he grew up with, influenced by, none of them like the way this country was founded, the way it was established, the way it's constituted.
And they are in the process of changing.
These elections next week are important because they'll be the first ones since people have finally awakened and found out just exactly who and what Obama and his administration are.
Here are some samples.
I have them on one page of some of the tax increases in the Pelosi bill.
And not just tax increases.
But you remember yesterday Obama was out somewhere talking to small business people and said, hey, if you like your plan and if you like what you're paying for, and if you like your benefits, keep it.
Nothing's going to change.
Page 94, Pelosi Plan prohibits the sale of private individual health insurance policies beginning in 2013, forcing individuals to purchase coverage through the federal government.
2013, after the 2012 presidential election, in 2013, there is no private insurance allowed.
The sale of it will be prohibited.
Page 110 requires the use of federal dollars to fund abortions through the government-run health plan.
And if the Hyde Amendment were ever not renewed, it would require the plan to fund elective abortions.
Page 111, Section 223, establishes a new board of federal bureaucrats, the Health Benefits Advisory Committee, to dictate the health plans that all individuals must purchase and would likely require all Americans to subsidize and purchase plans that cover any abortion.
The death panels are back, by the way.
Page 211, Section 321, establishes a new government-run health plan that, according to nonpartisan actuaries at the Lewin Group, would cause as many as 114 million Americans to lose their existing coverage.
Page 225, Section 330, permits but does not require members of Congress to enroll in government-run health care.
So they'll be able to opt out of it and maintain their Cadillac plans.
Page 255, Section 345, includes language requiring verification of income for individuals wishing to receive federal health care subsidies under the bill.
While the bill includes a requirement for applicants to verify their citizenship, it does not include a similar requirement to verify applicants' identity, thus encouraging identity fraud for undocumented immigrants and others wishing to receive taxpayer-subsidized health benefits.
Page 297, Section 501, imposes a 2.5% tax on all people who do not purchase bureaucrat-approved, and that's in quotes.
Health insurance.
The tax would apply on individuals with incomes under $250,000, thus breaking a promise, central promise of Obama's campaign.
Page 313, Section 512 imposes an 8% tax on jobs for firms that cannot afford to purchase bureaucrat-approved health coverage.
According to an analysis by Harvard professor Kate Biker, such a tax would place millions at substantial risk of unemployment, with minority workers losing their jobs at twice the rate of their white counterparts.
Section 551 on page 336 imposes additional job-killing taxes in the form of a half-trillion-dollar surcharge, more than half of which will hit small businesses.
According to a model developed by President Obama's senior economic advisor, such taxes could cost up to 5.5 million jobs.
This is the thing we talked about yesterday: $500,000 for single-filers, million dollars, the income surcharge on those earners.
A lot of those people are small business owners, and they file on the personal 1040 form.
Section 5, sorry, page 520, Section 1161 cuts more than $150 billion from Medicare Advantage plans.
Page 773, Section 1401, establishes a new center for comparative effectiveness research.
This bill includes no provisions preventing the government-run health plan from using such research to deny access to life-saving treatments on cost grounds, similar to Britain's National Health Service, which denies patient treatments costing more than 35,000 pounds.
And page 1174, Section 1802B, includes provisions entitled Taxes on Certain Insurance Policies to Fund Comparative Effectiveness Research, breaking Pelosi's promise that we will not be taxing health benefits in any bill that passes the House.
And this, you know, is just the scratch the surface look because there are 1,900 pages.
Quick timeout.
We'll be back after this.
Stay with us.
Yeah, the death panels are still in the bill.
I got some emails.
Rush the death panels in there.
You won't find the words death panel in it.
Wake up, folks.
I mean, it's even being reported by state-controlled Associated Press.
End-of-life counseling remains in the bill.
The Medicare end-of-life planning provision that 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin said was tantamount to death panels for seniors is staying in the Pelosi bill.
The provision allows Medicare to pay for voluntary counseling to help beneficiaries deal with the complex and painful decisions families face when a loved one is approaching death.
When House Democrats proposed this summer to pay doctors for end-of-life counseling, it touched off a wave of suspicion and anger, and they took it out of there.
They said it wasn't going to happen, and it was never in there.
So now it's in there.
Let's not forget, what was it, Newsweek?
The case for pulling the plug on Granny.
Back to the phones.
Elliott in Newark, New Jersey, welcome to the program, sir.
Great to have you here.
Oh, thank you.
I just have, about the Democrats, I pretty much summed them up.
There's two types of Democrats.
There's the ignorant Democrat and the scammer.
The ignorant Democrats and the scammers.
That's pretty much it.
Well, okay.
I mean, that works.
Yep.
Thanks much.
Where are we going next?
Shannon in Kaiser, Oregon.
Welcome to the program.
Hello, Rush.
Nice to talk to you.
You bet.
Hey, I was wondering if you thought that maybe the smell was starting to wear off the rose here with reference to these reports that have been coming out that aren't in total favor of Obama's policy.
I caution everyone against thinking that.
Please do not get caught in that trap.
Please do not allow any of your happiness or any of the validation of your own point of view to be brought about by the mainstream media agreeing with you.
There have always been instances where a sycophantic media in the tank for the Democrat takes a couple steps out of the pool now and then.
And they're doing it here on these jobs numbers because this is patently ridiculous.
Saved and created.
You've got a formula.
You can prove it.
I mean, everybody looks at here.
We've done nothing but lose jobs.
We're going up to 10% unemployment pretty soon.
We've lost 3.3 million jobs.
These guys are coming out trying to say they've saved or created 3.3.
It's absurd.
It is absurd on its face.
It's insulting.
But at the end of the day, they're going to be back in the Obama tank.
They're going to be.
Don't don't.
Please do not ever believe the bloom is coming off the rose about state controlled media with Obama or any Democrat.
It just, it isn't going to happen.
Like I say, you'll have sporadic instances of it.
But it doesn't mean success of anything when it's happening because it's not permanent.
It's temporary.
I was talking with Snurdley yesterday.
He said, Russia, the difference between Republicans and Democrats.
Look at these Democrats.
Look at this energy.
I mean, one thing I admire about them, they get up every day and they try to get 15,000 things done and they never stop and they just keep coming at us and coming at us, coming at us, coming.
Where do the Republicans?
The Republicans, even when they ran the House, they did not try to get all this stuff done this fast.
I said, yes, they did.
People have forgotten.
Early on in the Republican House, starting in 1995, when they were assembled and sworn in, I mean, these guys, they balanced the budget in two or three years.
They were making tracks.
Here's the big difference.
The big difference is that when the Republicans were doing that, guess who starred on television all day and all night?
The same Democrat cast of characters that you see now.
And what were they doing?
They were lying.
They said Republicans wanted to starve children.
There were no school lunch cuts, but it got started that there were school lunch cuts.
And then they had little kids sending in messages to Newt Gingrich and the board: please don't starve us.
Please don't starve us.
And the media went right along with it.
Even when the Republicans are in power, the media's objective is to get them out of power.
The Democrats remain the stars.
So the Republicans, the problem here is that it is really tough to withstand that when you've got the media and the Democrat Party aligned against you, proclaiming everything you say is a lie, that you hate this group, you hate that group, you're trying to starve this group, you're trying to send this group out on the street homeless and so forth while you're going about your agenda and put you on defense.
And you simply, well, no, this is not what we're doing.
It's a psychological thing.
I once postulated a theory I knew was going to happen.
The Republicans had not been the majority party and thus had had no power for 40 years in the House of Representatives.
And all of a sudden, on a dime, they're the majority.
And in many cases, it was because there were a lot of freshmen in the House who had never been there.
Now, we still had Democrat president that the press was enamored of and loved, but it was hard for these Republicans to shift on a dime from being in the minority to having no power to all of a sudden having it.
The Democrats consider it their birthright.
Liberals consider it their birthright.
It is their attitude.
They awaken with it.
They go to sleep with it.
They dream about it.
Even when they're out of power, they act like they're in power and the press helps them.
So my point here is that when this is stopped, and when there are enough Republicans in the House and Senate to effectively put the brakes on all of this, and if someday they ever get a majority back in the House, they're going to have to really learn to put up with what they know is coming.
The press is going to hate them, lie about them, and try to get them out of office.
They'll be propping up the Democrats.
The Democrats will be the primary guests on the Sunday shows.
The Democrats will be the primary guests on the cable shows at night.
The Democrat message will be the message of the country.
We'll start getting messages of the tyranny of the majority.
The minority must have an equal say here while Pelosi is shutting Republicans out totally and Obama is shutting Republicans out totally.
It's going to take a new breed of cat to put up with life in Washington as members of the majority.
And if you think, to tie this all together, if you think, or if you're going to define ultimate success as the media supporting what we want and what we say, what we do, forget it, for you are ever, forever going to be miserable and unhappy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know.
I'm looking for it.
Hang on now.
I'm going to find it here in just a second.
I might have just found it.
Nope, I didn't just find it.
And I had it here all ready to go.
Shoot, I can't find it.
Well, I'll find it.
Let's go to the phones.
Nanaugatuck, Connecticut.
I'm sorry.
This is Patty.
Nice to have you on the program.
Hello.
Good afternoon, Rush.
Thank you for taking my call.
You bet.
I wanted to just talk about one thing, and I'm going to try and talk about it as fast as I can because there's so much to it.
But it's the cap and trade one segment about carbon being the new derivative for Wall Street.
It's my understanding and reading some of the things that I have that Wall Street is pushing this cap and trade bill, and they're looking to set up a new system now for carbon derivatives.
The cap and trade will actually make atmospheric carbon a market value commodity.
And the cap and trade will allow them to make this a derivative once it's into law.
They also predict that the cap and trade will be the biggest of any commodities derivative within the next five years, estimated at approximately $2 trillion.
Now, wait a second here.
I thought Geithner and Barney Frank and all these other watchdogs had eliminated derivatives because they're too whiskey.
Yes, but they're not.
Because I understand the derivatives in 2007 had a market value of $681 trillion, and that would be 10 times the gross domestic product of the entire economy.
And the derivatives, 90% of the time, I understand, they're not regulated.
There's no paper trail.
And they don't even know exactly how much the derivative market is.
They're estimating a worldwide derivative market to $300 to $400 trillion.
And it's my understanding that the cap and trade will allow two things to happen.
The derivative markets will be based on two instruments.
The first instruments will be allowing the carbon.
It will be sort of like the dust and bolts of the cap and trade scheme.
The cap and trade government would issue permits that would allow a company to emit a certain amount of greenhouse gases.
Companies that emit can abundant from another company that didn't emit as much.
And then there will also be the carbon offsets, which will allow companies to emit greenhouse gases in excess of federally mandated cap if they invest in projects that cut emissions somewhere else in the world.
That is exactly right.
That's exactly how cap and trade work.
This is an old, this expansion of the old pollution credits that have been around for a long time, that the government will arbitrarily establish a carbon emissions level for every business.
And then they'll start trading these emissions as they're either going to go above the limit or be beneath it.
And you're right, Wall Street predominantly, I think Goldman Sachs will be right in there mediating and profiting on both sides of these trades.
And I understand it'll be international.
Well, yeah, but there was a warning from somebody.
Oh, a guy at the University of Montana who is a Nobel Prize winner.
He's a climatologist.
I'm having a metal block on his name.
But he said this, he says climate or cap and trade will destroy the U.S. economy.
It will destroy it regardless.
But especially if the rest of the world doesn't join us, because all we're going to be doing is penalizing ourselves and essentially putting a cap on our own growth.
And if the rest of the world doesn't do that, then we are cooked.
And this is what the climate conference in Copenhagen in December is largely, not totally, but largely about this, the cap and trade program.
And Obama, they're probably not going to have cap and trade by the time he goes over there.
So they're lowering expectations.
No, no, it's every bit as bad as you describe.
It's every bit as damaging to this economy as Obama's health care plan is, Pelosi's, whatever.
Chad in Raleigh, North Carolina, you're next on Open Line Friday.
Hello.
Mega Potatoes, Rush.
I just want to let you know that I listened last week when they were, your staff was kidding you about, you're the only one talking about Zycam.
Yeah.
Yeah.
How come you're the only one talking about using it?
Well, let me tell you my story.
About two weeks ago, my wife started getting sick, stuffy nose, cough, and all that stuff.
And usually I'm the one, if she gets it within a couple of days, I get the same thing, but I get worse.
So I just remembered, you know, everything you said about Zycam.
So I started taking it.
And past two weeks, I've got nothing except for a scratchy throat one day.
Aha.
There we have it.
It works.
It works.
An on-air live testimonial from Raleigh, North Carolina, where there's a lot of cold virus all the time.
Yeah.
Statistically proven.
And so, well, look at Chad, I appreciate that.
Nothing better than this kind of an and look at what led to it.
I did a wonderful mention of Zycam, and Dawn says, how come you're the only one you ever talk about using it?
So that's why Chad calls in.
Zycam, he is exactly right.
I love this stuff.
Ever since I first discovered this, because I hate colds.
I hate them.
Most of the time, they're not bad enough to keep you from work, but they just make you miserable.
I turn into a big baby with one.
I hate getting them.
I make everybody around me miserable.
And so I discovered this stuff, and I was told if you use it, Zycam, if you use it, the first thought, first realization that you may be getting a cold, that it'll shorten the duration and it will lessen the symptoms.
It doesn't cure it, it doesn't get rid of it totally, but it can really stop a cold in its tracks and keep it from getting worse.
And it comes in a whole bunch of different flavors and forms.
It's available everywhere.
It's Z-I-C-A-M, and it works.
Mark in Lakeland, Florida.
Great to have you, sir, on the EIB network.
Hello.
Hey, Megadittos, Rush.
You bet.
Hey, you know, I just was commented to my wife this morning that every time I turn the TV on, Obama's having another press conference.
I'm wondering when he spends time in the Oval Office.
I had a recommendation since Billy Mays is dead, maybe he could take his place on Pitch Man.
They're both on TV at the same time pushing worthless stuff.
It seems odd to me that every time I turn around, he's on TV.
I like it.
People start to laugh at the guy.
Yeah, you know, it's crazy.
I just watched it with my wife.
I said, you know, he could take Billy Mays' place and, you know, be on Pitch Man.
You know, to find something to do that's worthwhile.
Yeah, but there's a big difference.
Billy Mays told the truth.
If you bought something from Billy Mays, it worked.
And if you bought something from Billy Mays, it showed a profit.
His company's all showed a profit.
There's no comparison.
I think Billy Mays any day.
Billy Mays.
I love the guy.
Never heard of OxyClean until Billy Mays came along.
But there's a huge difference to Billy Mays.
Billy May has unfortunately died, and he's still right more often than Obama is.
I got to take a brief time out.
We'll do that.
We'll be back right after this, folks.
Don't go away.
Well, look who got through.
Our good friend, the Reverend Dr. Ken Hutchison from Seattle, a former player, National Football League, and now a man of the cloth in Seattle.
Hutch, great to have you here.
What's up, buddy?
How are you doing, my man?
Pretty good.
Are you okay?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, I'm fine.
Hey, that was great from the senator from Iowa.
I just want to congratulate you.
He laid it out on Good Elf.
Steve King did it.
I was stunned when I saw that.
It was a fabulous job.
I was very moved by it.
I tell you, that's the kind of defense that needs to be done of what's going on in America.
And, Rush, you know, I sent you an article that I was asked to write, and I just laid it out on the truth.
And it's too much to talk about on the air, but I have sent it out to places like the American Thinker, sent it out to American Spectator, Washington Post.
But it's things that need to be said.
It needs to be said.
Why are they attacking you?
I'm not going to let it go.
I'm going to get to the bottom of this.
They have attacked my friend.
And, brother, there's things that need to be said to African Americans that they need to hear, that they don't want to hear.
That's in the article.
That needs to be things that need to be said to America about why the white male's being attacked.
And that's coming from an African-American.
And I'm going to get this out.
Yeah.
It needs to be said.
I don't want you.
He sent me the column that he wrote.
Now he was asked by, I haven't mentioned the publication.
He was asked to submit it.
When they got it, it was too hot.
It was too hot.
It was too hot.
So he's shopping it to other places.
And did you say the American Thinker just now that you've sent it to them?
Yes, I said.
You sent it to the Washington Post.
All they'll have to do is read it, Hutch, and they'll be blown away.
I mean, I don't think they'll ever, ever publish it.
But if it's too hot for anybody, we'll put it on my website.
Absolutely.
We'll give him a chance to try it, bro.
But I just want you to know I'm not dropping this.
I appreciate it.
I love you.
Love you, bro.
Now, I want you to give, you got to tease it better than this because you have, you know, I don't want you to define it, but you have a three-word phrase to describe what is happening here to the white male in America.
The minority thought pattern.
The minority thought pattern is running America today.
The minority thought pattern is running America.
That's the central theme of this.
Not what happened to me at the NFL.
That's just an example of the minority thought pattern in action.
Absolutely.
It's hot.
And wait till it gets out, bro.
We're going to shake up America on this one.
My computer display was smoking.
Hey, Levi.
Take care, man.
Hey, wait.
Before you go, do you care about Favre going back to Green Bay this Sunday?
Are you following?
You have a thought on a game?
Well, hey, bruh, I cannot wait for the game to be played.
The fans, I think the fans are going to have mixed emotions.
You know what mixed emotions are, right?
Mixed emotions.
It's a mixed emotion when your mother-in-law just went over the cliff in your new Cadillac.
Yeah, with her tongue caught in a seatbelt.
I do know.
You know, Ryan Longwell is Favre's best buddy on the Vikings.
He was his best golf buddy when they were both in the Packers.
And Longwell, when he went back with the Vikings, he's a kicker for the Vikings.
Went back to Green Bay.
He said he was stunned at the loud, never-ending booze that he got.
He's the kicker.
Well, I think the fans are going to be a little bit more receptive apart because I think they know he got a little shafting going on when he left.
Yeah, maybe so.
Maybe so.
Maybe so.
How's the game going to come out?
You know Minnesota's going to take it.
There you have it.
Minnesota gets it.
It's in the cards.
A season sweep of the Packers for the Vikings.
Hutch, I do love you, Bub.
I'm glad you called, and good luck on finding somebody to publish your hot piece.
All right, my brother.
Thank you.
You bet.
The minority thought pattern.
Who's next on this bro?
We have anybody reading Jacksonville, Florida.
Hello, Ed.
Welcome to the EIB Network, sir.
Great to have you here.
Hello, Rush.
This is Ed.
I'm an unemployed electrician right now.
I know that when the government doesn't get its way, they threaten to shut down the government and not approve a budget and do all kinds of things and say we're going to suffer.
Well, I think it's time that we do like Gandhi or Les Valencia did in Poland and all the workers in this country, from construction workers to truck drivers to small business people to service people to cab drivers, bus drivers, and all this, take a week off and shut down the country for a while and see how the government likes that.
Interesting.
You know, it's interesting you say this.
And another football story.
The Cleveland Browns are hosting somebody.
I don't remember who they're playing, but it's at home.
And the fans are just, they're upset that the Browns have, since they were reconstituted after the original Browns went to Baltimore, the fans, some group of fans is trying to convince as many fans as possible to show up after the first quarter so that the game opens on TV with empty seats.
Because I think it's, I don't know who, well, whatever.
Maybe it's not this game.
I think they're on a night game coming up or something.
So it's a variation of what you're talking about.
That would be a fascinating thing to see if it ever happened, if everybody just did a John Galt for a week.
That's from Atlas Shrugged.
Hell with it.
The hell with this.
And stay home.
Smoke cigars.
Go play golf.
But you understand something real quick.
It's very difficult not to engage in economic activity.
You have to eat.
So it means you have to go to the grocery store.
What if they close?
You can't go to the White House and start eating sweet potatoes from Michelle's garden.
So it would be very, very tough to do.
That's why it is amazing Obama is succeeding in this.
And it's devastating and it's disappointing as it can be.
You know how the government always gives itself opt-out options.
But you know, we never have any option to opt out.
I'd love to opt out of Social Security, but I can't.
I would love to opt out of Medicare.
I would love to opt out of all kinds of garbage.
I'd love to say, no, it ain't for me, but I have to.
As we all do when they come up with these mandates and these entitlements.
My grandfather tried to send his Social Security check back.
They would not take it.
That was too big of an accounting problem and so forth.
Anyway, better take a brief break here, come back and wrap it up right after this.
Don't go away.
Oh, yeah.
Andrew Revkin of the New York Times, I keep mentioning to bring this up.
Let me see if I can squeeze this in here real quick.
Andrew Revkin, New York Times, said the law should be used to pressure couples into having only one child.
He was talking about carbon footprints.
If people are big polluters, then they have fewer people.
