Time Text
And we're back, Rush Limbaugh meeting and surpassing all audience expectations every day from the EIB Southern Command and the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
We are laser-focused.
Telephone number is 800-282-2882, the email address lrushbo at eibnet.com.
Mere moments ago, it was about 25 minutes ago, we had a call from a woman in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serving her residency there.
She'd moved there from Pennsylvania.
She's Jewish, and she was telling us all these stories about how the Jewish people she knows all voting Obama because they didn't want to be called racists.
And they wouldn't be thought of as racists.
So we had a little conversation, and I expanded on her theme, and I tried to tell her that I think one of the ways that this country is kept in constant turmoil is by people on the left who are promoting racial disharmony at every turn, trying to portray this country as inherently, unabashedly, and unalterably racist, that there's nothing we can do.
It's part of our heritage, and there's nothing we can ever do to end this racism, and oh, woe is us, and it's just so horrible.
And that advanced the notion that a lot of people of the black community, despite a rising middle class, are still constantly enraged.
They're being taught to be enraged.
They're being taught that they have no chance here.
They're being taught this country is discriminatory and is going to keep them down blubbed.
And they end up believing all of this.
They're constantly angry and feeling put out because they do see all this prosperity all around them.
I have a story in the stack that let me find this.
I've got one pulled out here.
Let me find the other one.
It's all about cities and where the greatest wage gap or income gap disparities are.
And of course, they're New York and Los Angeles and Chicago.
And it's all about how these people that live, say, in Harlem and in the outer boroughs who are angry.
Here we go.
Here we go.
Two stories here on this topic.
The first one's from the UK Guardian.
Wealth gap creating social time bomb.
Growing inequality in U.S. cities could lead to widespread social unrest, Reed riots, and increased mortality, Reed death, says a new United Nations report on the urban environment.
In a survey of 120 major cities, New York was found to be the ninth most unequal in the world.
Atlanta, New Orleans, Washington, and Miami had similar inequality levels to those of Nairobi, Kenya, and Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
Many were above an internationally recognized acceptable alert line used to warn governments.
According to the annual State of the World Cities Report from UN Habitat, race is one of the most important factors determining levels of inequality in the U.S. and Canada.
So in this case, what you have is the United Nations putting out a report that now gets reported on in the United States and widely disseminated that all this wealth gap is purely based on race.
It plays right into the Obama campaign and the leftists' belief that this, the United States, and Western civilization in general, are the direct result of white man's greed.
And it is only white man's greed that keeps otherwise well-qualified people of race and color subjugated to inferiority.
And of course, a guy like Jeremiah Wright will see the story, start preaching about it.
And others, Jesse Jackson will see it.
The Reverend Sharpton will see it and use it.
And Bill Ayers will put it in his curriculum.
And then there's this story.
Now, see what you think of this.
This is from Durham, North Carolina.
La Crosse Party Dancer still claims assault.
The escort service dancer who claimed that she was raped by members of the Duke La Crosse team is scheduled to talk with reporters today as she promotes a book about her life.
Crystal Magnum's accusations were labeled falsehoods by the state attorney general who dismissed charges against the three players.
Attorney General Roy Cooper said investigators found no evidence of an assault, but in excerpts of the book released today, Mangum continues to claim she was assaulted in March 2006 at a lacrosse team party where she had been hired to dance.
Even as I try to move on with my life, yeah, you know, Crystal, putting out a book on this subject, it'll really help you move on with your life a lot.
Even as I try to move on with my life, I still find it necessary to take one more stand and fight, she says in the book.
I want to assert without equivocation that I was assaulted.
Make of that what you will.
Well, you'll decide what that means to you because the state of North Carolina saw fit not to look at all that happened that night.
She's in her book says the state of North Carolina saw no reason.
They saw fit not to look at all that happened.
Then nothing short of a nationwide media orgy for months on this story.
The only one who didn't look at what happened was Nyphong.
Mangum says in the book that her story has never changed, that some of those who participated in discrediting her were motivated by race.
Now, what's the purpose?
Do you think this is her idea?
Do you think this is Crystal Magnum's idea, Mangum's idea to do this?
You want to talk about increasing the racial divide?
Who is paying and promoting this effort?
Bring this up again in an electric life.
Bring this up now after months and months and months of a media orgy where this woman was totally discredited by an investigation that was relentless and unstoppable?
The Duke La Crosse case showed precisely what is wrong in this country regarding race.
And now somebody sees fit to bring it back up 13 days before an election.
She claims she was still raped and assaulted.
The Duke La Crosse case showed who the real racists in this country are.
They are the faculty at Duke, the Nyphongs of the World, and the Drive-By Media, who saw, well, here's a story that fits what we believe.
Here's a story that fits our narrative.
You know, by golly, by gosh, yeah.
So they keep it alive.
This is exactly what I meant when I said that there are efforts being made to keep the racial divide big and to keep it on edge with a lot of tension.
And this will lead, the purpose of this, by the way, is to get as many people like this, a woman from Kalamazoo, Michigan, who calls, I don't want to be called a racist.
And they'll do whatever they have to do to prove in their own minds and to everybody else that they aren't racist.
Have you, folks, have you heard the, you've heard the old saying that some brilliant philosopher way back when said at one point in time, democracies always fail.
Because once people learn that they can vote themselves money, then that's it.
Once they figure that out, it's over.
Well, here's the actual quote, and it is from a science fiction writer named Robert Heinlein.
And it is from a book called To Sail Beyond the Sunset.
The America of my time is a laboratory example of what can happen to democracies, what has eventually happened to all perfect democracies throughout all histories.
A perfect democracy, a quote, warm-body democracy in which every adult may vote and all votes count equally has no internal feedback for self-correction.
Once a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state.
For when the plebes discover they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they'll do so.
They'll vote themselves bread and circuses every time until the state bleeds to death or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader such as the barbarians entering Rome.
Now, you juxtaposed this with Barney Frank the other day.
It needs to be a focus on immediate increase in spending.
Deficit fear has to take a second seat.
Later on, there should be tax increases.
So here we have a situation where many of you probably would believe we're nearing the point that with so many people now on some sort of federal subsistence, that that's all that matters to them.
The issues, anything else, national security couldn't care less, as in Social Security and the seasoned citizen population, although that's changing a bit.
But I mean, the theory is that once enough people figure out that they can vote themselves a house by voting Democrats who'll relax mortgage rules, by vote themselves help with their home heating, who can vote themselves health care, the producers will not be able to stop it.
Hawaii with health care for children, remember that story?
Seven months, free universal health care for children, only going to cover 2,000 kids in Hawaii, went bust after seven months.
They had to cancel the program.
Now, we are at this situation what I find very simple.
Others apparently don't, but I do.
I find this very simple.
There's no question that we have a dependent class in this country, and it's growing.
We have people, and of course, who are their biggest champions?
Well, the Democrat Party is considered to be the party of caring.
The Democrat Party is the party that cares about the little guy.
Republican Party is the rich party.
The Republican Party doesn't care.
Republican Party, in fact, got rich by stealing from these poor people, and that's why they've got nothing.
And now they're stealing their opportunities, and so forth and so on.
And what is simple to me is that this entire class of people whose lives have been stunted, whose ambitions have been destroyed, whose own realization of their own dreams, their dreams have been destroyed, much less their realization, have been created by the Democrat Party.
This degree of dependence, this degree of unproductivity, this degree to which people's lives in their own minds are miserable and they've got no way out has been created by the very party that has sought all these years to be their benefactors.
And so now we face this situation where in a lot of people's minds, really serious issues, national security and so forth, the kind of country we're going to be, don't matter at all.
All that matters is we've got an economy in bad shape and we need change.
I need people who are going to continue to give me what I have here.
Democrats have created this, and the dirty little secret is they've done it on purpose.
They have sought to take people who otherwise would have been productive, could have realized their dreams or at least gotten close, could have used whatever ambition, and they destroyed all that for the express purpose of making them wards of the state, owing their existence to the Democrat Party.
And then the same party that did this comes out and claims to be their champion, claims to be the only ones who care about them is going to fix their circumstance.
It really distresses me to see how this has happened.
Because this country produces and has produced millions of great people, millions of hardworking, I mean, you never meet them.
They're the people that make the country work.
And there are millions of them who could be part of that group who have just been dispirited and dissuaded from even trying.
And I'm not talking about race now.
I'm talking about everybody that thinks they're in poverty or lower middle class because Republicans have been in power for too long and the Democrats are going to fix all of this.
It's the Democrats that have brought this about on purpose for the sake of their own ascension to power.
And the idea that these are the people who are the most tolerant and compassionate among us really offends me.
It does more than that.
It enrages me.
Because these are people who, as I say, have had their futures taken away from them.
You know, it's not hard to do that.
We're all born pessimists.
We're all born needing leadership.
John Wooden has a famous phrase, learn to discipline yourself so somebody else doesn't have to.
Most people don't have self-discipline.
It takes effort to be optimistic.
And this is why parents and the right kind of teachers and friends and so forth that are optimistic are so important.
Anybody can hang around and tell you you can't do something.
Anybody can tell you that you have an excuse for not becoming what you could be.
It's always somebody else's fault.
That's easy to accept.
Very hard to look at yourself and say, gee, I'm screwing this up.
I could do better.
But that's why you need people around you who will do that, inspire you and motivate you.
The Democrat Party, I want to ask you a question.
When's the last time they inspired anybody in a positive way?
For the last six, seven years, everything out of their mouths has been the epitome of doom and gloom and the apocalypse.
They have sought defeat of their own country and military in Iraq.
They have sought to create in the minds of as many Americans as possible, we're already in a recession and a depression and it's going to get worse.
They're telling people that the greatest days of America are over and it's going to be different from now on.
They have done everything they can to frighten, panic, and scare people, keep them in a constant mode of crisis with no happiness in their lives and no contentment.
Has gotten to the point now where those who are unaffected by the onslaught of the Democrats in the media who are content, who are working, who are seeking to improve their own lives, the lives of their family, they're resented now.
They're said to be out of touch.
They're said to be people that are insensitive.
And so Obama comes along to spread the wealth around, meaning we're going to take from these people who are unfairly producing more for themselves than they need.
And then we're going to hand it, we're going to hand it out to the group of people who the Democrat Party has specifically taught how not to be productive.
And yet, they get the credit for having all this compassion and love for people whose lives they've damaged, some cases greatly.
Back after this.
Hey, looky here.
This is RedState.com.
Our old buddy Eric Erickson has found an artist in New York has set up an exhibit that features cardboard cutouts of Sarah Palin and her youngest daughter.
The cardboard cutout is of Palin killing a caribou.
The caribou is a three-dimensional stuffed animal with its guts splattered out of it.
But the catch is people can join the photo up by donning a vest and a gun.
And a lot of people are shooting Sarah Palin.
They're shooting.
Eric has posted a picture of it here at redstate.com.
Let's pretend to kill Sarah Palin.
And we hear all about how rotten these atrocities that McCain supporters are committing out there.
By the way, I just want to remind you: I've been talking about this the last couple of days.
The actual name of this statute, this piece of legislation Obama is for that would destroy a lot of small business called the Employee Free Choice Act.
Now, it is exact.
What do you think Employee Free Choice Act means?
If you hear that there's a piece of legislation called the Employee Free Choice Act, what are you naturally going to assume it is?
Employees, employees.
Maybe it's the Employer Free Choice Act.
Employee Free Choice.
Employee Free Choice Act.
They can choose whatever they want to do.
They're going to have freedom against these mean dictatorial bosses.
All the Employee Free Choice Act is, is a piece of legislation that allows unions to vote with a private ballot to turn any small business into a unionized shop.
Unions want their membership and percentages back up and so on.
Small business scared to death over it.
America's real.
Anchorman, the truth detector, doctor of democracy.
Rushland bought talent on lawn from God.
I have also been thinking about all of these polls.
You know, they're all over the place.
AP 1.
IBD TIP at 3.7, CBS New York Times at 13.
NBC Wall Street Journal, Obama 80-20.
I mean, they're just all over the place here.
And here's what I think happens.
I think that these polls all start off by asking people if they identify themselves as a Democrat or a Republican or an Independent.
And the Democrats right now have about a 10-point lead over Republicans in self-identification because Republicans are tired of Bush and they've forgotten about the war.
And when a pollster comes along, as much stigma as there has been attached to being a Republican, I think a lot of people are telling pollsters they're Democrats when they're not, just like they lie to pollsters sometimes they call them on the phone.
But anyway, this changes when there's a popular Republican president, of course.
But what happens here, if the pollsters have a sample I think is 10% greater Democrat than Republican, then they're going to overweight their polls.
They're going to go out and get 7 to 10% more Democrats in the sample.
Now, this makes a crucial assumption.
The crucial assumption they're making is that there are no Reagan Democrats in this election.
That a Democrat is a Democrat down the line and voting for Obama.
So they're assuming that there are no Reagan Democrats and Reagan Democrats may have no intention of voting for Barack Obama.
And we've heard Democrats warn of this.
Fast Eddie Rindell.
Just, you know, some of these people in Pennsylvania are not going to vote for black people.
We've had Jack Murthy say, people in my district are racist and they're rednecks.
And we've had all these stories.
They're still out there.
They're not out there now, but two weeks ago, we had almost every day for five days, Washington Post, New York Times story on all the concern the Democrats had over Democrats who might not vote Obama.
So I think what's happening here is these polls are not accounting for those Democrats, even though they're doing stories on them.
Those Reagan Democrats and others.
Now, I've looked at the internals of some polls who suggest that some of these polls, I'm not going to name them, but 7 to 12% of Democrats aren't going to vote for Obama.
7 to 12% of Democrats aren't going to vote for Obama in a couple of polls.
And I said, okay, now I don't know whether I believe this or not.
But that's what some of these polls are saying.
But some Democrats won't.
I mean, and that is the question that we need to answer if we want to put any real stock in these polls.
The real question we need to answer is how big is the group of Democrats who will not vote Obama?
And are they being measured accurately?
I don't think they are.
I think the pollsters are assuming that every Democrat is going to vote Obama.
I don't think they look at us Reagan Democrats because there's no Reagan and there's no Republican conservative figure out there to attract these in the pollsters' minds.
And I just, you know, they seem to be tipping too fast with too big a lead to Obama.
And Obama's behavior does not reflect somebody who's got this thing battened down in a landslide.
He is not behaving that way.
Going back to the 30-year-old playbook page about McCain going to cut Medicare, lying in an ad about it, McCain going to cut Social Security.
I just, I just, like I told you the last couple of days, folks, I think this election is close, and they're doing everything they can to depress Republican turnout, suppress it and depress it.
And now there's another story today about Sarah Palin dragging down McCain because of these clothing expenditures.
Two days in a row, we've had polling stories on how Palin's a bigger drag on McCain than Bush is.
That's palpably BS.
Palpable BS.
Federal prosecutors pursuing illegal immigrants have a favorite tool, a 2004 law that imposes a mandatory two-year prison sentence on some people who commit identity fraud.
Supreme Court on Monday agreed to decide just how blunt that instrument is.
The question in the case, it's one that's divided the federal appeals court, is whether workers who use false social security and alien registration numbers must know that they belong to a real person to be subject to a two-year sentence extension for aggravated identity theft.
So the Supreme Court's going to decide whether or not somebody can steal your identity or be charged for it if they don't know you're stealing your identity.
If they just, of course not, they're just going to randomly pick some Social Security numbers that will work.
Like the illegal immigrant says, well, I didn't know the number belonged to a real person.
So that means identity theft.
The Supreme Court, at least in the illegal immigration cases, Supreme Court's going to determine whether or not we can convict people of stealing people's identity as long as they didn't know they were stealing somebody's identity.
It's absurd.
This ought to tell you you are not protected from identity.
You see what happened to Nicolas Sarkozy?
The French cabinet spokesman says swindlers have broken into the personal bank account of the president of France.
Spokesman Luc Châtel told France's Radio J, an investigation is underway and insists the incident proves that this system of checking bank accounts via the internet isn't infallible.
So now illegal immigrants can steal your social security number, get away with it.
Well, maybe, depending on the court rules, if they don't know they're stealing your identity, and the president of France had his bank account broken into.
You are not protected from identity theft.
Check Life Lock, folks.
Life Lock, it is cheap, and it is, well, they stop identity theft before it happens.
And if they don't stop it, they fix at their expense up to $1 million.
But they don't stop.
It's that simple.
Lifelock.com, offer code Rush.
It can happen to the president of France.
And this Supreme Court case is scary.
I mean, look out.
Paul in Long Island, you're next on the EIB network, sir.
Great to have you here.
Hello?
Yes, sir.
Oh, good afternoon.
First time caller that got through on the first time that they dialed.
I have my own business on Long Island.
My weekend, sometimes I work 35, 40 hours just between Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
The work ethic, which you brought up, which is a completely different point, is gone.
I pay kids $15 an hour and you can't find people to work.
They just don't want to roll out of bed and come to work on the weekend.
I know that exists in a lot of places, but it's not everywhere.
I feel bad for you.
But the work ethic is not totally gone.
If it were, we'd be in a lot worse shape than we're in.
But I know you've got a lot of young people.
This is my point, actually.
You've got a lot of young people who think they ought to have their parents' home when they're 22 or 23 years old.
Absolutely correct.
Now, look at those expectations.
They must think this is one hell of a country if they have those expectations.
The only problem is they don't think they should have to work very hard for it.
Correct.
But in the midst of all these kind of expectations, we still are surrounded by people who don't have these expectations at all.
They think they've got no chance to have a house, period.
Correct.
The only bigger point actually calls for and want to make, which no one's bringing up, and I know it's a dirty little subject and people don't want to talk about and make believe it doesn't exist, is that should he raise taxes on small businesses like myself, the revenues will go down because if I don't want to pay more taxes, there's money that goes under the table, a cash market.
Call it what you want, but not only does he miss out on the federal tax, the state misses out on the state tax, Social Security misses out on the Social Security tax, because there's ways to get around it when you have your own business.
So raise my taxes, and I'll still show the same amount of money or less because there's ways to do it.
Okay, what you're saying, your go-cash economy in part.
Yeah.
So raise my taxes by the steps under the table, however you want to call it.
And nobody wants to talk about it to make believe it doesn't exist.
But not only will he miss out on the Fed, you'll miss out on the state tax.
We're missing the point.
We're taking Obama seriously.
No, no, no.
When I say we're taking him seriously, what I mean is we're looking at his plan to benefit small business and analyzing it.
He has no intention of benefiting small business.
Don't you understand?
Of course, not only it may drive you to cash economy, that's your business.
You'll probably find a lot of employees who will show up on the weekend for 15 bucks an hour cash, but you're running great risks doing this.
But this is one peep, one way people escape the taxes.
Another thing you might do is fire some people, which is which is the, but the point is here, I'm getting blue in the face here telling you this.
People like you, Paul, Obama said you're his best friend.
He wants to help you.
He wants to give you tax breaks and tax credits so you will hire more people.
And one of the ways he's going to do it is to give you a $3,000 tax credit.
And you're going to take that $3,000 tax credit for every full-time worker you hire, and you're supposed to start hiring people like crazy.
Now, the problem with this is that it may cost you for full-time people, if you pay them, say, $35,000 a year, may cost you $45 to employ them.
So $45 minus his $3,000 tax credit, $42,000 to hire somebody to pay him $35,000.
What's the deal?
So this is a bad deal for me.
I'm not going to hire people this way.
Besides, that's not why people hire employees.
They don't hire them for tax breaks.
I hire them because they need their productivity for crying out loud.
So Obama wants the federal government to come in and manage the way businesses hire people.
And one of two things is going to happen.
You're either not going to hire under his precipice, their premise, in which case he's going to be able to point fingers at you and say it's still corporate greed that's preventing people from getting jobs.
I've offered him tax free.
He'll talk to these dunces that have voted for him, and he'll say, I've offered them tax breaks.
I did everything I could, but they won't hire you because they're tight wives and want to keep the money for themselves.
Or the other thing that happened is if you do end up hiring and take his tax break, then he's going to run around saying he saves small business.
The government say, folks, everything about the Obama plan is designed to make sure only one person and entity get credit for an economic recovery when it happens, and that's Barack Obama and the Democrat Party and government.
That's what this is all about.
And by the time you throw in the Employee Free Choice Act with his attempt to unionize every small business.
Talking about cash economy, it's going to be worse than that.
Be right back.
Don't go away.
Okay.
Sean Penn, you happen to be listening?
Or Danny Glover or any of you other leftist insaniacs.
Despite having some of the world's largest energy reserves, Venezuela is increasingly struggling to maintain basic electrical service.
Now, listen to this.
This is Reuters.
Venezuela increasingly struggling to maintain basic electoral service, a growing challenge for leftist president Hugo Chavez.
We got a communist media, a socialist media reporting on a socialist communist dictator, which every socialist country in the world has this problem.
Soviet Union had a lot of oil.
They also had problems.
A challenge for leftist president Hugo Chavez.
The OPEC nation has suffered three nationwide blackouts this year.
Chronic power shortages have sparked protests from the western Andean highlands to San Felix, a city of mostly poor industrial workers in the swelterings.
And I love this headline.
I love this whole story.
I just love it because I love being right, and I love to be able to tell people when they've been bamboozled and fooled into doing stupid things that they didn't even want to do in the first place.
Wall Street Journal.
Oh, you're right here in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers.
Higher insurance costs erode fuel savings on small cars.
So all you people who were told to go out and buy these small cars save a lot of money on gasoline.
Protect the environment, too.
This year's higher gas prices are prompting drivers to switch to smaller, more fuel-efficient cars.
The problem is some of the money they save is going to higher insurance premiums.
Small cars generally cost more to insure than larger ones because they're involved in more accidents and incur bigger claims.
And people get hurt more in these small cars.
That's true, regardless of the driver profile, though younger and less experienced drivers tend to buy smaller, cheaper cars.
Well, that would make sense, too.
So all the money you think is, and it's got figures, facts and figures.
The 2009, there's a hybrid here, for instance.
Cost an average of $2,000 to insure for a 40-year-old male driver.
A similar conventional car, same brand but not hybrid, cost just $1,300 to insure, a difference of $700, which is 223 gallons of gas at $2.95 a gallon.
But see, they've made you think you're doing a patriotic thing by going out and buying one of these little bubble cars, driving around and getting your 65 miles to the gallon.
If you want to do that, I mean, it's fine.
got no quarrel with the kind of car people want but if you think you're it's called rope into what No, I'm not playing golf today.
Why do we got time to play golf?
I've got a big meeting.
The Zycam guys are coming in this end.
New products.
By the way, I told you I took that Zycam.
I felt like last Monday.
You heard me hoarse.
Oh, my gosh, I thought it was coming out of the cold.
Swab the nose.
My voice has been clear since.
No cold whatsoever.
Little Q-tips.
You swab the inside of your nose.
Pinch the nose like five seconds after you put the Zycam.
Don't blow your nose or that for 30 seconds.
We just pinch your nose like this.
First sign of a cold.
You got to do it first sign of a cold.
That's when it works.
It may not stop it.
It did mine in this case, but it may not stop it, but it'll shorten it and reduce the symptoms.
It really is great stuff.
My flight attendant introduced it to me, Zycam, Z-I-C-A-M.
And they got some new stuff they're going to show me today.
Then might I, I go play nine whole snurdle, just unwind here.
John in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, great to have you on the EIB network.
One minute, make it count.
Hello.
Hi, Roche.
Thanks for taking my call.
Earlier in the program, you discussed Sarah Palin's wardrobe, all the flack they were throwing up about it.
And my wife brought to my attention an article in the Patriot News here in Harrisburg about it.
Three things real quick.
I just wanted to spread the word that you were correct that the Republican Party purchases all the garments.
Number two, they wanted to make sure she had a diverse wardrobe so she could campaign in all 50 states.
Well, of course, everybody knows that women don't wear the same dress two days in a row.
Everybody knows this.
Right.
But the third thing that really impressed my wife and I was the fact that when she's through using these garments and clothing and everything, they are going to be donated to various charities.
That's true.
I saw that too.
I'm glad you reminded me of that.
All the stuff she's wearing is being donated to charity.
And they made the decision to do that long before the criticism even started.
But I made a mistake.
It's not that women will not wear the same thing two days in a row, they won't wear the same thing twice, period.
They don't have to.
You want to hear some class envy, folks?
Joe Biden promised a cheering crowd in Colorado to target executives of failing companies who draw big salaries.
Their pensions go first.
He and Obama are going to take away their pensions just for you.
Export Selection
