Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
I had somebody say to me this morning, you know, Rush, it's clear now, if it hasn't been clear before, that we're not running against Obama.
We're running against the media.
That's true, but we're not just running against the media.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are running against the entire Washington government machine.
And that includes the media.
But it is important to point out that the Washington government machine, run by the left, and their impenetrable bunkers of lifetime appointments in the bureaucracies and so forth and the judiciary.
And that's really what we're up against.
Really, it's great to have you here.
Rushlinba off and running.
Already the middle of the week, fastest week in media.
Rushlinbaw at 800-282-2882.
And the email address is LRushbow at EIBnet.com.
I sense a shift here, ladies and gentlemen, in the drive-by media and the way they're going after Sarah Palin.
I think they're going to drop this business that she's not experienced enough.
And I think they're going to go after the fact she's a trailer trash.
And it's based on Letterman told a joke about her last night as being a typical Jerry Springer guest or some such thing.
And then, of course, you've got U.S. Weekly, the magazine that fawned all over Barack and Michelle Obama, portraying her as scandal-ridden trailer trash on the cover.
Now, Us Weekly is owned and published by Jan Wenner of Rolling Stone, who is a documentary.
You can look it up, big donor to Barack Obama.
And, you know, it's fascinating to watch the differences here as the drive-bys are trying to force her off the ticket.
They're trying to force her off the ticket.
And what everybody, and I know how mad you people are, but I want to tell you, you tune into that convention tonight to her speech tonight, and they better have those rafters reinforced at this convention hall tonight because they're going to blow the roof.
This crowd cannot wait to hear this woman.
This crowd wants to be involved in promoting, defending, advancing the cause and the career of Sarah Palin.
And this crowd is going to do whatever it can to put her at ease, to make her feel welcome.
And she's up to the challenge here.
And I think it's going to be a fascinating night.
It's going to be, well, she's got to be up to the challenge.
I mean, it is what it is.
The media isn't going to change.
They're getting worse.
Some say they're destroying themselves.
I think they've been in the process of destroying themselves for a long time.
But clearly there's no journalism going on with what the drive-bys are doing.
They're just the opposition research branch of the Democrat Party.
And their templates never change.
Maureen Dowd, back in 1988, can I read to you what she wrote about George H.W. Bush, who was vice president?
He had just chosen Dan Quayle.
Vice President Bush is walking back up the steps of his home after receiving the endorsement of the head of a police organization when someone called out a question about Senator Dan Quayle's much-debated performance as his running mate.
George H.W. Bush said this concept that I see in some of these reports that I'm not supportive of Dan Quayle are absolutely ludicrous.
They are ridiculous.
The template never changes.
This is 20 years ago, and Maureen Dowd could have been writing this about John McCain and Sarah Palin.
But they're trying to force her off the ticket.
There's even one of these online betting sites that you can visit.
Online prediction market weighing in on whether McCain will drop her from the Republican ticket.
I think once this gets going, and as I said yesterday, once this hits full stride, the Barack Obama campaign is going to realize what a loser choice it made in putting Joe Biden on the ticket.
Mark my words, There's going to be a huge reversal of this by the time this all shakes out.
But why are they trying to force her off the ticket?
If she's this big a trailer trash, and if she's so inexperienced, why not leave her there?
She should be easy to beat, right?
Well, that's the key.
They're scared to death of her.
They are frightened like they haven't been frightened in a long time.
They thought they had succeeded in nullifying and eliminating the conservative wing of the Republican Party.
They thought that they had succeeded in creating an impression among Americans at large that conservatism was in disfavor, that it was a funk, that it was a minority.
And here comes Palin, and Sarah Palin, just in her being, just in her essence, simply destroys every myth and every lie that the liberals have told us that they want in women.
Andrea Piser today in the New York Post, great peace, a time-warped sexist assault.
But women on the left who fought long and hard for the ability to raise children simultaneously with election cash are in spasms.
Some have simply kept silent.
Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, where are you?
The stupendously sexist New York Times printed a front-page article noting that some unnamed women argue over whether there are enough hours in the day for her to take on the vice presidency and whether she is right to try.
The feminazis, ladies and gentlemen, have once again set back all the gains that real women have made to the level of their mother's generation.
Do you realize this attack on Sarah Palin sets back everything they claim they've been for?
I mean, if Democrat women are angry at the way Hillary Clinton was treated, they should be hysterically outraged over this pounding that Sarah Palin is getting.
And she is enduring it, by the way, but they should be outraged.
Now, I know they're not going to be, but feminist liberal women ought to be outraged by this.
And the only one I can find as close to being angry about it is Geraldine Ferraro.
But in the same way that American feminists have totally ignored how Muslim women are treated, they are showing us again their true colors.
And I can tell you this, feminist women may not be mad, but the women who make this country work are mad, the women that you don't see on the news, the women whose work that you never hear about, are livid over all of this, and they are demanding something be done about it.
They want Sarah Palin to respond to this.
They want some ad campaigns.
They want the, you know, it's like this is a war, and they're trying to take out one of ours.
Now, I don't know how many of you have seen the movie Untouchables with Kevin Costner and Sean Connery.
Sean Connery played a cop that mentored Elliott Ness, played by Kevin Costner.
He said, you know how you get Capone?
Capone puts one of yours in the hospital.
You put two of his in the morgue.
That's how you get Capone.
That's Chicago style.
That's the style, by the way, Obama knows.
That's the style in which he was reared.
And so this is hard ball, and they're trying to take one of ours out.
And can I go through the list of people they have tried to take out just to put this in perspective?
I mean, this is, you know, you get here and you get frustrated.
I get frustrated as I can be, as I'm sure you do, over conservatives having their lives targeted and ruined by a bunch of piranha fish that are the drive-by media.
Human flesh hits the water.
Attack in a frenzy till.
Only a few bones are left.
The list is way too long, Judge Bork Clarence, Thomas Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Condoleeza Rice, Ken Star, Katherine Harris, George Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Dan Quayle, and then you have George Allen, of Macaca fame, and the the Bob Living.
So well, the list goes on and on and on.
I mean the, the people they consider the biggest threats to their power.
They try to take out uh, Miguel Estrada, who was, uh was, you know, rumored to be and not rumored was, it was going to be a HIGH Court appointee.
Uh, just that took him out, even though he's Hispanic, and that's one of the coalitions they're trying to go after.
So it's just it's.
It's maddenly, maddeningly frustrating.
But the the, I think the um, the silver lining here is that it's now so obvious to people who are watching.
One thing about the American people, whether you, whether you agree with the concept or not, they like the concept of fairness and this ain't fair.
They don't see it as fair.
Now, not not that there's going to be a huge backlash against it.
It's going to be up to the people on our side to fight back, and i'm, you know, I know Mccain's campaign ads have been excellent in the last five to six, maybe seven weeks.
But I remember Mccain early on saying he wanted to run an honorable campaign, a campaign on the issues.
I think he's starting to get it.
He canceled an appearance on Larry King Alive after Campbell Brown tore into one of his spokesmen in one of the most outrageously offensive interviews that you can see.
So he said, screw it, i'm not going to give you guys at CNN the benefit of my presence.
Why, why should I?
So he canceled Larry King Live.
Uh these uh, these kinds of steps are are welcome, but uh, there's still too much fraternization going on in uh in Minneapolis.
I'm watching all of our guys show up on these morning cable shows as though they're part of the favored crowd.
When they're not, they're despised and they're hated, and the weaker that they present themselves, the happier the drive-bys are.
We have a lot of signbies to review today, as well as uh, your phone calls, of course.
So we'll take a brief time out here.
We'll come back, get started with all the rest of today's program.
Right after this Mccain's campaign strategerist, a guy named Steve Schmidt says that he's been contacted by a bunch of big-time drive-by reporters demanding paternity tests for the uh the child, the down syndrome child.
I I that the drive-by media has called Steve Schmidt of the Mccain campaign and is demanding paternity tests for the down syndrome child, because I am not making this.
That's what Steve Schmidt is saying.
They don't believe.
These far-left fringe bloggers are defining the template of the drive-by media.
Now they are defining the template.
They have sunk to a load that was previously unsuspected And there's plenty of room for them to go straight down to hell, and they're on their way.
They are destroying an entire industry.
And I'm content for that to happen.
But boy, it's painful to watch as they flail about trying to hold on and save what is so desperate to them, and that is liberal socialism reforming and running this country.
But he says he didn't name them.
He didn't name the reporters, but he said he's had a bunch of A-list reporters demand paternity tests for the Down syndrome child because they believe that it actually is the daughter's child who is now pregnant and that Sarah Palin covered by faking being pregnant and to protect her daughter and so forth, even though the 17-year-old daughter is five months pregnant.
They want a paternity test on that Down syndrome kid because their standard mode of operation is whatever a conservative or Republican says is a lie.
It isn't true.
Or it's worse than that.
Folks, they're not even interested in the truth.
If we get down to the bottom line here, it's rumor, rumor, rumor, and establish rumor as fact.
And that is the modus operandi.
Just put any rumor out there.
And when you know that sycophant vacuum cleaners in the drive-by media are going to be entertained and intrigued by whatever fringe insanity they read on these fringe kook websites, if those websites understand that whatever they write is going to be picked up and investigated as a legitimate news source.
All the while these people concerned, complain about the new media, the conservative media, which has no editing process, which has no filters.
We, of course, in the new media pose a great risk to democracy and freedom because we're just a bunch of wild asses shooting from the hips.
And it's just the exact opposite.
Some of the most extreme, insane, insulting, lunatic stuff now approaches the mainstream, reaches the mainstream, and becomes rumor/slash fact of the day.
And then you keep pounding it and you keep pounding it and you keep pounding it.
And you can't blame these kooks in the left-wing blogs if they discover that the Chris Matthews of the world and all these other reporters, CNN, the Campbell Browns of the world, are going to read that stuff and believe it and then make it part of the daily template, part of the daily narrative.
Why wouldn't you do it?
They don't care about truth.
They don't care about anything other than defeat and victory.
We're dealing with people who are miserably unhappy.
And they're dealing out of fear when it comes to Sarah Palin.
Let me illustrate.
Let's go to the audio soundbite.
Sally Quinn, CNN's newsroom with Salted Ed O'Brien late yesterday.
Question to Sally Quinn.
She's married to Ben Bradley.
She's the Washington Social Doyen, the hostess through all the great dinner parties and everybody bowed down and did anything to be invited to.
She's also a reporter at, occasionally still writes for the Washington Post, the question.
Folks can find your article, The Washington Post.
Is it a swipe at working mothers if you extend the outside of Sarah Palin and the VP pick and you say anybody who's not around 24 hours a day watching their kids is not enough of a hands-on mother?
I've been a working mother for 26 years and practically every friend I have is a working mother and works full-time.
So I think we are so far beyond that issue of whether women should work or not, certainly in your world and my world.
But in the world of evangelicals, that's not the case.
Women are supposed to be subservient to their husbands and they are meant to be stay-at-home moms.
And women, in fact, are not allowed to be pastors in the Southern Baptist Church.
So now we have this is Sally Quinn.
Sally Quinn, who is an extreme liberal feminist, now defining for us who evangelicals are and how they live and getting it entirely wrong.
Women are supposed to be subservient to men.
And this, by the way, now, you can sit and get mad on all this stuff.
It's not going to do any good to get mad.
You got to do something.
You got to understand this, understand where this comes from.
This is a, they're totally frightened.
They live a lie.
They do not understand half of what they believe or more.
And they act on it.
They create policies based on it.
And they exist in hate.
They exist in hate.
And so it's a double standard.
If you're Sally Quinn or Soledad O'Brien, who has a bunch of kids, by the way, Soledad O'Brien's got at least three, I believe.
Two of them are twins, I think.
Not quite sure.
I confused these drive-by infobabes.
But if you're Sally Quinn or Soledad O'Brien, well, it's all fine and dandy to have kids and go to work and have the husband do whatever he does, hire the nanny, get daycare, because you are sophisticated and you understand the realities of the world.
But these evangelicals, they don't die, they don't buy this.
They don't buy the women supposed to have babies, be barefoot pregnant in a kitchen, never to be heard from, subservient to men.
And thus, Sarah Palin is disqualified because she has violated the rules of evangelical religious beliefs.
It's absurd.
It is insane.
And yet, it is not challenged.
Here's more.
You want to hear more?
She added this to the comment.
It's one thing to have one or two or three children, especially if they're healthy children.
And everyone knows that women and men are different and that moms are dads and different and that women, the burden of childcare almost always falls on the woman.
But I think when you have five children, one, a four-month-old Down syndrome baby, and a daughter who's 17, who's also a child and who is going to need her mother very much in the next few months and years with her own baby coming, that I don't see how you can not make your family your first priority.
When did you start caring about that, Sally Quinn?
When did these people start caring about the family?
When did they start caring about putting family first?
When did these liberal feminist Sally Quinn of Georgetown start being concerned about that?
So now Sarah Palin, she's not going to have time.
She's not going to have time to govern.
She's not going to be able to do it right because she had too many kids.
And here again, Snerdley, you lose the bet.
She should not have had one with a head-down syndrome.
And I'm, well, no, you can have two or three.
We haven't got to the Chinese one-baby policy yet.
You can have two or three if you're Sally Quinn or Soledad O'Brien, but you can't have any if you're Sarah Palin and go to work.
And you can't have any if you're Sarah Palin and are not subservient to your husband.
And you can't have any if you're Sarah Palin, you're going to run for governor.
Of course, I know how infuriating it is.
I've been boiling all night.
I've been boiling all morning here.
But it's the point is here that the anger, you know, after a while, then what do you do?
All we can do is expose this stuff, add the appropriate commentary to it, let people take it and digest it for what it is, because it speaks for itself.
Of course, it's outrageous.
But I maintain to you that what's driving all of this is something very simple.
They know Sarah Palin exposes the frauds they are.
She exposes them by virtue of her American life.
She exposes them by virtue of her essence.
She exposes them by virtue of her existence.
She exposes them as the 100% lying frauds that they are.
The Sally Quinns, most of the women in the media, all of the so-called feminist leaders, I told you yesterday, this is nothing more.
Well, it actually is more, but it's the same approach that they took to destroying Clarence Thomas, the same approach that they took to destroying Robert Bork and all the others I mentioned on that list.
And they destroy people who are threats.
They destroy people who are threats to their template, to their narrative, to their power.
They take no prisoners.
They have the drive-by media with them, the Washington governing class, as well as the Democrat Party.
It's a troika.
It's a three-headed beast.
That's what we're all up against.
We'll be back.
Stay with the Smyrna.
I'll tell you what, my email account is smoking as I'm sure the phone lines are smoking with reaction to the dits.
Sally Quinn, let's not forget Sally Quinn is of Georgetown.
Sally Quinn is known mostly thanks to her husband.
Sally Quinn has never subjected herself to public approval, therefore can make claims without measuring them against what the public actually thinks.
She has never put herself out.
I mean, she would be outraged if anyone began any kind of an investigation of her to find out what her childhood was like other than what she's written, to find out what she's done in her life that we don't know about.
To have media demand that she prove her kids are her kids by doing paternity tests.
She would be outraged.
She's too sophisticated.
She would be insulted.
If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Bill Carter or Billy, Bill Clinton a Southern Baptist?
I know Jimmy Carter was a Southern Baptist.
I think they both were.
And by the way, the Democrats loved them.
The Democrats still love them.
Two Southern Baptists.
And the Democrats and Sally Quinn fawning all over themselves for both.
Was Hillary not subservient enough?
I mean, here you've got a Southern Baptist president, Bill Clinton, and I don't think he's married anybody subservient.
I'll tell you something else, Sally old babe.
You talk about Sarah Palin not having enough time with all those kids to run around.
Last I checked, Bill Clinton had more relationships on the side while he was in the White House, plus a daughter in the White House, plus a wife running around.
Bill Clinton was as busy as he could possibly be.
Where are you going to be demanding the paternity test for John Edwards?
Where's the investigation into his affair?
Where's the investigation into whose kid it really is?
This was a guy with no experience, nothing to recommend him to be president.
And you didn't do one thing to do anything about exposing who John Edwards really is because you didn't care to because he's a fraud just like all the rest of you are.
And let's not forget Nancy Pelosi.
Nancy Pelosi has five children and she has grandchildren.
And do you remember when she was sworn in as the Speaker of the House?
She brought all that family in there.
She brought her kids.
She brought grandkids.
She had grandkids on the knee.
She said it time for a woman to clean the house.
She said she could do it all with her kids, her grandkids, her husband, Paul Pelosi, running around.
The double standard here is striking.
It's not new.
It's nothing surprising.
It is just glaring how overt it has become.
And by the way, none of what Clinton did interfered with his job.
Bill Clinton's out there admitting the lying under oath.
Bill Clinton is out there having all these different affairs, and you said didn't affect his job performance.
Why?
It's just sex.
Everybody has sex.
But it didn't affect how he led the country.
They're just scared, folks.
They are frightened as they can be.
Your blood's boiling.
Let me turn up the temperature.
Soledetto Brian to Sally Quinn.
Why wouldn't she make the choice that many working mothers with more than one or two or even three kids make and hand that sick child off to their dad and go answer the phone?
Why that not be sort of in the realm of possibility?
We're supposed to say, at least in the old feminist world, that women and men are the same and they should be equal and that, you know, we have double standards.
It's extremely time-consuming.
We are talking about John McCain, who has chosen a woman with five children, one with special needs and a daughter, 17-year-old child, who's pregnant.
That is a distraction.
And when you are in a position like that, suppose she became president in the next several months, she would have an enormous number of distractions on her hand.
And I can't believe that she would be the dad and her husband would be the mom.
Have you ever heard of nannies?
And what if I go back and I recall the Bill Clinton experience?
How did Bill Clinton not get distracted, Sally?
Sally Quinn of Georgetown.
It's a distraction to have five kids.
You're going to have two or three, but it's a distraction.
How come it's not a distraction?
How many?
Let's go through the list.
Let's find out how many kids all these drive-by media babes have and find out how it is they still do their jobs and not be distracted by their families because they think they're just as important as the vice president.
They think they're just as big a part of government as the vice president is, maybe even more powerful than the vice president.
So let's go look.
Let's do a little list of every female drive-by, find out how many kids they've got, how old they are, who takes care of them, and what kind of wonk husbands these people have.
Of course, it wasn't a distraction for Bill Clinton to have all of his affairs.
It wasn't a distraction for Bill Clinton to have all these investigations into his inference.
It wasn't a distraction for Bill Clinton to be impeached because he lied under oath.
See what we're up against here.
Let's go to the phones.
This is Chris in Fargo, North Dakota.
You're first today.
Hello.
Rush, what a pleasure.
Thank you.
Total honor.
I've listened to you all since the day you came on the radio.
And I'm just looking to come talk to you, but I had to call you my friend, my mentor.
I appreciate that.
I'm a 51-year-old mother, grandmother.
I live in Fargo, North Dakota.
And God help me, I'm a Baptist.
And I am not subservient to my husband.
I respect my husband.
My husband is a wise man.
You know, this is the problem that feminists have, Rush.
They see themselves as being smarter than men.
And I don't mean that in a derogatory way.
Women are sharp and we are smart.
But you know, our men, our husbands, are wise.
That's the way they're built.
And if you are wise, if you have a good husband and you are wise, you'll listen to the counsel of your husband.
You don't bow down to him, no.
And that has nothing to do with being a woman.
And this business with what they're doing to this poor soul.
I am not a feminist.
I've never bought into that, but I grew up in the day when all of this nonsense was going on and the bras were burning and we were marching and Helen Reddy was singing and good God.
And the women are confused.
They're confused.
They don't know why they're even doing what they're doing.
They're not confused at all.
They have a plan.
They are out to destroy traditional values that have defined this country's greatness.
They're angry.
They're not confused.
They're angry as they can be.
They've been left out.
They're angry at a whole bunch of things.
The whole left, whether it's women, whether it's the civil rights coalitions, they're just enraged.
They're angry all the time.
They don't get their way all the time.
They're angry at people who have different values than they have.
They are totally, they just can't get over the fact that there are people like you who believe in God.
That's where they think you're stupid.
That's where they think you are an idiot and unsophisticated.
They don't believe in things like you do.
They don't believe in things larger than themselves.
The world rotates around them, whether it's feminists, whether it's the civil rights coalitions, whether it's the drive-by media, and people like you, Chris, who have faith in something larger than yourself, in something that you cannot prove.
That's what makes you an idiot.
They're not confused about a thing.
Now, you may, in your charitable way of looking at them, think they're misguided and so forth, and you might want to say that it's worth extending charity to them on that basis.
But don't misunderstand the threat that these people pose to the way you live, to the values that have built your country, and the values you want to hand down to your country.
And that is what this election is all about.
I appreciate the call.
This is Bruce in Columbia, South Carolina.
Hello.
Well, Reverend Mr. Limboff.
Hi, I'm going to say I haven't talked to you for about five years, but your show has become very irritating to me, and I felt that I had to call you and call you on this one thing.
You've preached for years, and I've been with you since 88, abstinence, abstinence, I'm sorry, of you know, that we just say no to sex and whatnot.
Now you've got in your own Republican Party, a 17-year-old girl of a Republican governor of Alaska, gets pregnant.
Now, granted, you know, she's human like everybody else and had sex, but suddenly you're talking out of both sides of your mouth.
I'm not talking about it.
I am not talking out of both sides of my mouth.
You are an ass.
And you know you're an ass.
You're being a provocative ass.
You know that we believe in abstinence, yes, as opposed to birth control for teenagers, promoting the activity, but we don't support abortion.
We know that people aren't perfect.
We know that they make mistakes.
We know that we love them when they do.
That we try to correct their mistakes and not abandon them and rip them to shreds unless we've tried over and over and over again and they simply don't get it.
And even then, when they're family, we still love them.
Not talking to both sides of my mouth.
I'm as consistent as anyone on this side of the issue can be.
It is half-brains like you who simply want to be provocative, who illustrate your abject ignorance by calling this program and putting on display for the entire country to see.
You've got guts.
I'll give you that.
We'll be back after this.
You know, it's a sad shame.
We've got so many stupid people in this country that we have to deal with, but we do talking out of both sides of my mouth.
Look, I believe in abstinence.
I believe in all kinds of moral standards.
But I also know most Americans believe in moral standards.
Another thing that has the left totally outraged.
They wish America was as valueless as they are.
And they can't bring that about.
And they can't bring that about because they can't defeat God.
And that frosts them.
Because it is from God, it is from religion that morality descends.
It is where we are instructed in our morality.
And I think in a general sense, we're all born with an understanding of right and wrong.
We have to be taught this, unlike other beasts and beings.
We have to be raised.
So parents and families are crucially important.
But even lousy families have produced great leaders, great people, and so forth.
So it's not axiomatic that you have to have a great family in order to end up with an understanding of right and wrong.
All have that little voice in our head that tells us what not to do, shouldn't do this, don't say that, whatever.
We don't listen to it a lot, but we all have it.
We all know the difference between right and wrong, particularly those of us who have had solid families to instruct in these things.
But we all fail.
Everybody's imperfect.
Most Americans believe in the standards that I'm describing here.
Most Americans fall short of them on occasion, not constantly.
But life's a process of trying to improve and trying to reach a better level, learning from mistakes, finding the good in everything that happens, no matter how shattering it might be, because there is good, there is opportunity in everything that happens.
Liberals attack these standards.
Liberals attack these morals.
They attack the culture.
They lecture us that if you try to set standards and try to meet standards, you're to be condemned when you're imperfect.
See, they have a free pass on this.
They have no standards for themselves in the sense that you and I are discussing here.
And so they can't fail them.
They can live lives of total debauchery and be rewarded for it in their careers.
They can live lives of just unbelievable wretched excess and they're applauded for it because they do not want to be hypocrites.
They therefore do not want to be held to standards, but they in their own hearts know that they are wrong.
And they have guilt and they have anger and they have rage.
They wish they could get rid of standards everywhere, but they can't because they can't defeat God.
Lord knows they are trying to defeat God.
That's what this attack on Sarah Palin really comes down to, if you ask me.
Who made Sarah Palin the way she is?
Sarah Palin has a value base that scares the hell out of these people because it reminds them of their failures to destroy values that create families like Sarah and Todd Palin's and McCain.
This is an assault.
And this idiot that called here accusing me of talking out of both sides of my mouth on the concept of abstinence, believe me, there are plenty of idiots and they're multiplying out there just like this guy.
This is an assault on humanity.
It's an assault on individuality.
This is how the left thinks.
This attack on Sarah Palin embodies everything the left is.
It is as intense as I have ever seen it because they are more frightened than ever.
Remember their starting point.
This election was going to be a slam dunk.
All they had to do was show up.
Doesn't matter.
It's either going to be Hillary or Barack, but it was going to be a slam dunk.
Now they've got Barack and they've got the Messiah.
They think they have someone who is anointed.
They buy into this.
They believe this garbage.
And now all of a sudden, reality once again intrudes on the myth and on the fiction of liberalism.
So they have to continue their assault on humanity.
They have to continue their assault on individuality.
It's just who they are.
It's how they think.
In the case of Sarah Palin, it is even more perverse.
They're attacking the mother for behavior of one of their children, her children.
They want you to believe that both the child and her mother are unworthy.
It is genuinely sick.
Here's Mark Maxie Shields appearing on the PBS coverage of the Republican Convention talking about Sarah Palin.
Accepting John McCain's offer, she guaranteed that her daughter would be known globally as the best-known 17-year-old, pregnant, unwed teenager in the world.
That would not have been the case if Sarah Palin had said to John McCain, thanks, but no thanks, John.
This is a private time for my daughter, an important and terribly difficult time in her life.
I really can only imagine the painful time that that girl is going through right now.
Not simply by being known and introduced to the nation this way, but also being conflicted in part by what her pregnancy could do to her mother's career and all the rest of it.
I tell you, this is just, it just continues to get worse and more over the top.
Here is a man, Mark Shields, liberal in good standing, demonstrating for one and all that he doesn't know what he is talking about.
He has no clue how people like Sarah Palin and her family think, and he never will.
I don't know where to start with this.
Private time for my daughter, an important and terribly difficult time.
And oh, yeah, pregnancy is such a terrible thing.
It is such a rotten thing.
Mature people deal with these things as they happen, and families that are born and contained by love deal with it.
Love, I think, is even a concept foreign to these people.
I can really only imagine, like, he really has sympathy here.
I can really only imagine the painful time that the girl is going through right now, not simply by being known and introduced to the nation this way.
Hey, thanks to people like you, Mr. Shields.
Thanks to people like you who are demanding paternity tests of the McCain campaign.
Thanks to people like you who are trying to uncover every bit of lying dirt you can find.
And then you blame it on what?
Poor girl having to go through all this?
Leave her alone.
She's a kid.
I thought the children of political candidates were off limits, as in Chelsea Rodham Clinton.
And also conflicted in part by what her pregnancy could do to her mother's career.
Let me tell you something.
This is what you really don't get, Mark.
This woman, Sarah Palin, has more guts and more courage and more love than I think you can possibly understand because she knows she's not going to let that girl suffer.
She's not going to let that girl go through a lifelong questioning of whether or not she harmed her mother's career.
It's not going to be a factor.
Don't worry about it.
You can trust me, Mark.
All right, folks, that's it.
First hours in the can on the way to the Broadcast Museum that we have.
Well, the warehouse, housing artifacts for that museum.
