Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 Podcast.
Greetings, my friends, and welcome.
It's great to have you with us as we wrap up another Sterling Week of Broadcast Excellence.
It's another summer spectacular on the Rush Limbaugh program on Friday, live from the Southern Command in sunny South Florida.
It's open line Friday.
And I, ladies and gentlemen, am your highly trained broadcast specialist.
Reaching out from beyond the EIB Southern Command Complex to speak to the nation behind the golden EIB microphone.
Open line Friday.
Fun day.
Monday through Thursday, we only talk about what I care about.
On Friday, I broom that and let you talk about whatever you want.
So whenever you call or you get through, you go on the air.
When you get there, you own the program for that precious amount of time.
And you are on the air.
Pretty much whatever you wish to talk about is accepted.
Telephone number 800-282-2882 and the email address L Rushball at EIBNet.com.
Did you see the letter that Bob Dole sent to Scott McClellan?
You hear about this?
Dear Scott, there are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don't have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues.
No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, and then quits, spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique.
In my nearly 36 years of public service, I've known a few like you.
No doubt you'll clean up as the liberal anti-bush press will promote your belated concerns with wild enthusiasm.
When the money starts rolling in, you should donate it to a worthy cause, something like biting the hand that fed me.
Another thought is to weasel your way back into the White House of a Democrat's elected.
That would provide a good setup for a second book deal in a few years.
I have no intention of reading your expose because if all these awful things were happening, and perhaps some may have been, you should have spoken up publicly like a man or quit your cushy job.
That would have taken integrity and courage.
But then you would have had credibility and your complaints could have been aired objectively.
You're a hot ticket now, but don't you deep down feel like a total ingrate?
Bob Dole.
He really coming out of the blue here.
They sent us to this, uh they sent this to us uh late yesterday afternoon after the uh after the program concluded.
Have you seen they've they've spotted, they've spotted an isolated tribe in Brazil.
A uh an airplane flew over this hut, this thatch roof hut or something, and these savages are body painted in red and they're trying to shoot the airplane down with bows and arrows.
One of South Africa's, I'm sorry, South America's few remaining uncontacted indigenous tribes has been spotted and photographed on the border between Brazil and Peru.
The Brazilian government says that it took the images to prove the tribe exists and to help protect its land.
Wait a minute.
Why do we have to help protect the land of this tribe?
Aren't they the essence of purity?
According to the environmentalist communists.
I mean, here are people who are untouched by civilization.
Here are people who are uncontacted by civilization.
Here are people living on this planet the way they are supposed to be.
Nobody even knew they were there.
They suspected they were there.
They flew an airplane over there, and they found them.
Now these people are probably at one with nature.
Why do we need to protect their land?
They're doing a better job of it than any of us ever could protect our land.
The pictures taken from an airplane show red-pated tribe members brandishing bow and arrows.
More than half of the world's 100 uncontacted tribes live in Brazil or Peru, according to Survival International.
I mean, I'm sure these people not only don't they have to get rid of their incandescent light bulbs and go to these compact fluorescents, they don't have light bulbs.
They don't have electricity.
They don't have running water.
This is the ideal.
These people need to be contacted.
We need to learn from this civilization, because this is where we're all headed.
If the extreme environmentalist communists get their way, Stephen Corey, who's the director of Survivor International, says that uh support tribal people around the world said that such tribes would soon be made extinct if their land was not protected.
Even even those who are living at perfection and at one with the world are endangered by us.
So somebody has to protect their land, because obviously these nomads can't do it themselves.
All right.
Another preacher.
In the pulpit at Reverend Wright and Obama's church, guy's name, Reverend Michael Flagger.
He went on a roll this past Sunday.
This is what he said about Mrs. Clinton.
When Hillary was crying, and people said that was put on.
I really don't believe it was put on.
I really believe that she just always thought this is mine.
I'm Bill's wife.
I'm white, and this is mine.
I just gotta get up and step into the plate, and then out of nowhere came, hey, I'm Barack Obama.
And she said, Oh, damn!
Where did you come from?
I'm white.
I'm entitled to the black man stealing my show.
She wasn't the only one crying.
There was a whole lot of white people crying.
That is that is not the Reverend Jeremiah Wright.
That is a white guy.
That is the Reverend Michael Flager.
Now, does this guy not sound like Jeremiah Wright?
This guy's here.
Listen to Jeremiah Wright again, and you'll hear the similarities.
Barack knows what it means to be a black man living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people.
Hillary ain't never been called the nigger.
Bill did us just like he did Monica Lewinsky.
He was riding dirty in white America, US of KKKA, black men turning on black men.
I am sick of Negroes who just do not get it.
Not God bless America, God d America that's in the Bible for killing innocent people.
God America!
And now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back into our own front yards.
America's chickens coming home to roost.
America's chickens!
And of course, Obama, deeply disappointed.
Deeply disappointed, he had no idea.
He doesn't like this guy looking packwards.
It doesn't serve any purpose.
It doesn't reflect his vision of uh of the future.
Uh it's just it's it's another embarrassment.
I'll tell you, you can you can you can look at all you want and listen all you want at what these preachers say, but in the case of this Flagger guy, have you seen the video to this?
That congregation's out of its chairs and given him a standing oath.
They are cheering this on that ought to be Obama's problem.
I mean, the congregation, this you know, this is this this little sermon here.
Listen to it again, not made in a vacuum.
When Hillary was crying, and people said that was put on.
I really believe that she just always thought this is mine.
I'm Bill's wife, I'm white, and this is mine.
I just gotta get up and step into the plate, and then out of nowhere came, hey, I'm Barack Obama.
And she said, Oh, damn!
Where did you come from?
I'm white, I'm entitled to the black man stealing my show.
She was the only one crying.
There was a whole lot of white people crying.
That's a white guy, the Reverend uh what's it, Michael Flegger.
It's time now, ladies and gentlemen, to uh turn to our official Obama criticizer, Mr. Bo Snerdly.
This is Bo Snerley official Barack criticizer for the EIB network, first certified black enough to criticize without reproach.
And I have a statement.
Senator Obama, once again you've risen to offer apologies.
This time for the remarks of a white pastor who supports you.
That sounds like something John McCain would do, but that aside, the pastor in question only echoed the truth.
He properly observed that Mrs. Clinton felt entitled to the nomination, that many of her white Democrat supporters are flummox, dismayed that you apparently are going to snatch it from her.
That analysis was stolen from America's anchorman, Rush Limbaugh, who has chronicled the anger of Democrat whites, particularly women, that you, a rookie with no experience, no real substance, are poised to win.
So why apologize?
You won't apologize for wanting to talk to thugs who want to destroy us.
Why apologize for this little white preacher who just tells the truth, the plagiarized truth.
Instead, you've thrown them under the bus like you threw your white grandma under the bus.
Sir, please grow a set.
Now, a translation for the EIB sisters and brothers in the hood.
Yo, oh.
It's been a while, bro.
I look what's up with you and your homie.
Another one of your boys steps up, spits it true, and you diss him.
First of all, my brother, it was Limbaugh who called it.
These two faced, you think they want to faint and throw their paintings at you, white liberal girly girls or the ones whose faces are all cracked because you're gonna win.
Yo.
So why are you dissing your boy for just copying Limbaugh's lines and spitting the truth?
Look, son, you need to represent.
You want the big gig.
You want to be president.
You can't be apologizing all the time, man.
You're starting to look like a punk.
And you know what, yo?
We can't have no punks in the White House.
That's dangerous, bro.
That concludes our statement.
That's the official Obama criticizer.
Bo Snurley will be back right after this.
Stay with us.
Found another Barack Obama uh YouTube video, ladies and gentlemen.
This uh is back in in 2007.
And this this is a uh uh a video that Obama made for a far left wing organization in 2007, and if this gets wide airplay, uh Mrs. Clinton may yet have a chance.
The rules committee and the bylaws committee meets tomorrow in Washington.
There are planned protests.
Women from across the spectrum, angry at what is being taken away from them via being hijacked for Mrs. Clinton by a rookie.
A dweeb.
Rafer and Flager was right.
Our official Obama criticizer got it right, and by the way, Reverend Flager is not even original.
I am the one who pointed out how Hillary feels.
You know damn well she they're sitting around.
I've said this.
I said this months ago.
Reverend Flager is a plagiarist.
I said it in a little bit more dignified and classy manner than he did.
And of course, I said it to you, not from the pulpit of Obama's church.
Nevertheless, if this video gets out, uh, Mrs. Clinton may yet have a chance.
This is Obama taping this message for the uh the caucus for priorities, which is a uh a campaign that set out to recruit 10,000 Iowa caucus attendees to pledge support for the presidential candidate who is strongest in their commitment to significantly shift Pentagon funds to unmet social needs.
And this is a video that Obama made for that group to convince them he was their guy to disarm the United States of America.
Name of the group, the caucus for priorities, and here's what he said to them.
As president, I will end misguided defense policies and stand with caucus for priorities in fighting special interests in Washington.
First, I'll stop spending nine billion dollars a month in Iraq.
I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning.
And as president, I will end it.
Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending.
I will cut investments in unproven missile Defense systems.
I will not weaponize space.
I will slow our development of future combat systems.
And I will institute an independent defense priorities board to ensure that the quadrennial defense review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.
Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons.
To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons.
I will seek a global ban on the production of thistle material, and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBM's off hair trigger alert and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals.
You know where I stand.
That's Barack Obama in 2007 with a taped video appeal to a group called the Caucus for Priorities, uh, getting uh ready to gin up, you know, for the Iowa caucus, Hawkeye Kokai, in uh early January in 2008.
This is truly, I mean, this is this is this is bizarre.
This is the first step toward disarming uh the United States, and of course, it presumes that the world will follow our lead in everything we do.
It is not just bizarre, it is ignorant, it is risky, and at the same time it is arrogant.
Now, when I saw this, when it was first shown to me yesterday, this has got to be I need proof of this.
I can't believe that this hasn't gotten out.
I I cannot believe that this has not been more widely dispersed and distributed.
I said, I need some back on this, and we went out, we researched it, we found it is true.
A story here from March the fourth, Senator Barack Obama facing renewed criticism, and this is from the Cybercast News Service regarding his national security policies as he continues his campaign for the Democrat nomination in a YouTube video that Obama made for a liberal pacifist organization last year.
He called for major cuts in defense spending, slowing the development of future combat systems, and cutting investments in America's ballistic missile defense program.
Uh this so it's real.
What you heard is uh is real, and it is something that is it's frightening, and it look it's patently obvious who this guy is.
Make no mistake about it.
This is this is a huge pacifist from the far left fringe who is seeking the oval office.
In fact, this was just posted it um a couple days ago at Mark Ambinder's blog at theatlantic.com, 29th of May, actually says yesterday, at a fundraiser in Denver last night, Senator Obama, this will be the 28th that he said this, signaled that he would use the grace period of his first 100 days in office to push through national health insurance.
In general, a fresh administration is given some latitude to pursue a single domestic policy goal.
Think of Bush and No Child Left Behind, although Democrats were a bit shell-shocked then.
Uh by putting health care reform into the 100-day honeymoon grace period, Obama is also acknowledging that his election would not immediately clear the tracks and usher in a period of glorious liberal accomplishments.
Instead, he'll need this artificial booster.
So the the point here is that, and I, by the way, I'm not sure I buy into this notion that the president gets to accomplish whatever he wants in the first hundred days.
Can we go back?
I mean, Mrs. Clinton was often running on her own health care plan in 1993 in the first 100 days.
But the theory is that he's gonna get a honeymoon and Congress gonna let him do whatever he wants, first thing out of the box, because it's tradition.
And after that, then they're gonna get tough with him and he's gonna fight for what he wants.
And so the theory is here that he's got to do health care first when nobody's standing in the way because it's not going to be that easy to do after the first hundred days, which means the country is not as socialist and liberal as Mr. Obama and many in the Democrat Party think it is.
We'll be right back.
Do not go away.
Thank you and welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.
Open line Friday, Rushlin Boy and the Excellence in Broadcasting Network, Barack Hussein Obama's favorability.
Did I s did I just say his middle name?
Slap myself.
Not allowed.
No, don't hit the delay button.
I said it.
I think we can pass an FCC examination on this.
I just I just slip the tongue.
Not allowed.
Barack Obama's favorability ratings among white women has declined significantly in recent months, particularly among Democrats and Independents, presenting an immediate obstacle for the likely Democrat nominee as he moves to shore up his party's base.
Forty-nine percent of white women view Obama unfavorably, while only 43% hold a favorable opinion.
In the uh February, 36% of these women looked at Obama unfavorably, while 56% had a uh positive perception of Obama.
White women as a whole now prefer John McCain over Obama by 49% to 41%.
Let's see.
Who look at who Obama's losing.
He's losing blue-collar white voters in key states that Democrats need to win.
Now he's losing the white female vote.
And yet what's on the verge of happening?
The Democrat Party is going to nominate this guy as its presidential nominee.
He is in a free fall.
We have another video from another preacher going nuts.
And by the way, how many of you, when you go to your church, hear your pastors uttering profanities.
It seems like it's a common occurrence at the Church of Barack Obama.
First with the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and now this clown, Michael Flager.
And by the way, drive by media.
All full of stories today, what great works Michael Flager does in the South Side of Chicago.
He helps the poor.
He helps the hungry.
He helps the thirsty.
He helps the dirty.
He's such a wonderful guy.
I think Obama even had a 100,000 earmark for this guy's organization.
Not sure what it is.
I read that sketchily today.
Anyway, Obama's losing everywhere.
Now, this is according to polling data, but Democrats live and die on the basis of polling data.
And yet they're on the verge of nominating him.
It's just it's what what was it?
Somebody said yesterday.
The uh the theory is that Obama's gonna get this for one reason.
And the reason is he is not Hillary Clinton.
That the Democrats don't want any more of the Clintons.
They're just uh they're just fed up with them.
Let's go to the phones, open line Friday.
We try to start earlier on the phones on open line Friday, since uh we request that callers call and they give the content portion of the program is all theirs.
So can it start Topeka, Kansas?
John, thanks for the call.
You're up first today.
Hello.
Hey Rush, John Cooney, thanks for taking my call.
You bet, John Cooney.
Hey, uh the one and only John Cooney, like the one and only Russ Limbaugh.
Hey, uh I want to talk about our governor out here, Governor Kathleen Sabillius, who James Carvel last year said should be at the top of the list for the running mate of Barack Obama, which also would be a white a white woman.
So it probably instead of Hillary, he could always grab Kathleen.
Well, in the last uh two months, Kathleen has blocked a coal-fired plant that was going to be a three and a half billion dollar investment in western Kansas, which is suffering.
And uh, and she used her the health uh health department approved the plant.
She vetoed the plant on her own, and then on top of that, there was an oil company out of Texas, uh, Hyperion, you can do a word search, was going to put a $10 billion oil refinery in my county.
And they said because Kathleen Sabilia just flippantly used carbon emissions and global warming as her reason for rejecting the coal power plant, even though it met federal regulation.
They said they were not going to come to Kansas and put a 10 billion.
So we lost 14 billion dollars on top of that rush.
Uh, she just holted a uh fundraiser with pictures on the front page of the Capitol Journal for the kill uh tiller the killer abortion doctor.
So this is who the running possible running mate of Barack Obama.
I know her name's been thrown around, and she she is she is an extreme, as you have pointed out.
Uh, and she she has done uh taken these unilateral steps to shut down.
I read about the coal plant that she uh that she's not oil refinery.
The oil refinery is the bigger story.
We haven't had oil refinery in thirty years, and this is affecting us at the point of the well.
I'll bet you I'll bet you that if you search the archives of the beloved governor of Kansas, Kathleen Sevelius, you'll also find her bitching and moaning about the fact that we still depend on too much foreign oil.
And by the way, one more thing, Rush.
Um, the Archbishop of Kansas City has publicly come out in the last three weeks and said she should not receive communion because of a radical pro-choice partial birth abortion views, and that she should uh also publicly apologize for her position, and if she doesn't, he will follow it up with more, and that's the third story on Kathleen Sabillius.
All right.
Well, John Cooney from Tobeka, Kansas.
You've got it.
They want and only John Cooney from Topeka, Kansas.
Check the Topeka Kansas phone book and see if you can find another John Cooney in it, uh, Mr. Snerdley.
Uh just kidding.
This is who the Libs celebrate.
This is this is one of the things that's happening.
I mean, our party's in total disarray, and I understand this and I know it.
But so is the Democrats.
The Democrats just aren't quite as aware of it as they should be.
Uh they've they think they have a lock on uh the election, the presidential election in November.
And so, as I have mentioned countless times on previous occasions, the uh Democrats are very, very comfortable on occasion telling us exactly who they are, such as Kathleen Sabilis not bothering to mask who and what she really believes, and the fact that she is being mentioned in the top tier of Obama vice presidential possibilities is indication enough of where this party is and where they want to go.
We have a fifteen year old um uh young guy from um how do you pronounce his name is Evan.
How do you pronounce the town in your in Wisconsin where you're from?
Yes, Mekwan.
Mekwan, Wisconsin.
It's great to have you here, Evan.
Welcome.
It's an honor to speak with you, Mr. Limbaugh.
I appreciate that.
Thank you.
Uh I've been listening to the past week and I've kind of gotten the drift that a conservative party wouldn't be a good thing.
But my friends and I were in high school, you know, and we go to a primarily liberal high school, and you know, we're out there, we're on the battlefield every day fighting the liberals, we're pushing them back, but you know, the three candidates that are running, they're just different shades of blue.
Wait a second.
Evan, you you're you're fifteen?
Yes.
I want I want you people in his audience to listen to this guy.
Here he's fifteen fighting liberals in high school or junior high, were you were you in secondary or uh I'm a freshman, going to be sophomore.
Freshman in high school.
All right.
So well, when I was a freshman in high school, they still put us in junior high.
Oh.
So that's why I wanted to that's clarify.
So okay, so you're freshman in high school, fifteen years old, yeah, fighting the liberals in a high school, pushing back.
Yeah.
There are a lot of adults in this country can learn from you, so you keep keep speaking and making your point.
Okay.
Well, like I was saying, the three candidates that are running, they're just different shades of blue.
And the Republican Party no longer stands for what we conservatives believe in.
And you know, many callers have said this, you know, oh, I'm fed up with McCain, you know, Obama and Hillary, you know, they're just putting on a you know, a laugh show over there, and that's good for us.
I mean, we get some entertainment out of it, but they could r seriously hurt this country badly.
And you know, you know this, and I'm sure everyone listening knows this.
But you said that a cons that a third party will not work.
And we should, you know.
It it's uh it's a hard situation that we're in here, and I I know you know this.
But we're fighting, you know, our my friends and I we're fighting under the Republican Party flag that doesn't stand for us.
So we're we're rogue troops.
We're out there, our funding's been cut, our morale has been cut.
It's like what the Democrats are trying to do to us in Iraq.
But you know, we're we're fighting them, and we don't know.
We're just we're we're lost.
How many how many uh friends in your gang?
Oh, about eleven or twelve of us.
Eleven.
Eleven or twelve of you, and you're out there fighting your whole school.
Yeah.
I love you, man.
I just think I just f and I don't think you've suffered any demoralization.
Oh no.
No, you you guys are leaders.
This is what you have to you you are whether you know it or not, you have assumed leadership positions and you are acting that way.
And so that that that has to give you a certain mindset attitudinally that you should not forget and abandon.
Do not consider yourself yourself a minority.
You are a leader and you are leading something that you believe in.
You're right on the money about where the Republican Party is.
But let me explain my third party business.
It's just historical.
There it it's not gonna win anything.
And right now, the practical effect of a third party.
Let's say if if if if somebody did try to split off a third party from the Republican Party, all it would do is guarantee the election of Obama or Hillary or whoever the Democrat is.
Yeah.
Uh this is what happened with uh with Ross Perot back in 1992 and George H.W. Bush.
Although there's some polling data that suggests H. W. Bush might have lost anyway, but that's up for grabs.
Uh the the key is, as I I said yesterday, Evan, that what's going to happen here is that the if if this keeps up, and by the way, the show you the desperation of some conservatives uh and Republicans, they just are hoping and praying that what McCain is saying and doing now is simply a ruse to attract a whole lot of people away from the Democrat party and vote for him.
But then when he gets in there, he's gonna be a gold water type Republican.
I mean, you're gonna really go he's gonna go pedal to the metal, and he's gonna be a real conserv there.
That's just that's just hope.
Well, the thing is with my mom is she hears something one day and she goes, Oh, well, I have to vote for him, you know, my they can't let the Democrats get in, and then the next day she goes, you know, I can't believe John McCain.
I can't believe that I can't vote for him.
So, you know, my mom, she's gonna bind.
But the thing about the third party though is if we make a threat, it it might maybe you know bring the Republicans back in line.
I'm gonna tell you something.
No, Evan, it won't.
It won't.
No, no, because the people who are taking over there are two things happening here that are devastating.
One, Rockefeller Republicans are taking over the Republican Party, making it like it was back in the days where it was a perennial loser.
Uh liberal country club blue blood Republicans.
The second bad thing that's happening is that third and fourth tier pseudo-conservatives, mainly in the media, are trying to redefine today's Republican Party as the new conservatism.
And that's where people like you come in.
There is no new conservatism.
Conservatism is conservatism, conservatism is you, Evan, and the eleven or twelve other guys in your gang.
Conservatism's me.
Conservatism is all the people in this audience who are conservatives.
And we are not going to sit by and let it be watered down and redefined.
And I warned people about this a year ago.
So what has to happen, it's a sad thing to say, but these pseudo-intellectual conservatives, third and fourth tier, these Rockefeller Republicans are going to have to take this party down to the dregs of defeat, where it is demonstrated it doesn't win.
And even if McCain wins, it's it it's going to delay this for a while.
But at that point, we're going to start rebuilding all over, and that's where you come in.
You're young.
The Republican Party is going to be yours someday, and that's what you need to focus on.
The Republican Party is going to be you and your gangs, and every there are more conservatives on college campaig today than people know.
And they're out there working doing the same thing at higher levels of education as you are in high school, fighting the libs, fighting the professors, fighting the structure.
And they are just as livid about the status of the Republican Party as you are.
And what happens when when the when you know two or three generations come along and pollute everything up, younger generations like you come along, you look at what you're facing, you say, I'm not doing it this way, and you clean it up.
Don't change, Evan.
You are the future of the Republican Party and the conservative movement.
Guided, of course, by me.
Yes, of course.
You're you, my mother, and Ronald Reagan are my role models.
Fifteen years old here, folks.
Fifteen years.
This is why you can't give up.
Because the inspiration happens to people, you don't even know you're hearing you.
Evan, I'm glad you called.
All the best and hang tough, bud.
Thank you, Mr. Limbaugh.
We'll be back after this.
Stay with us.
Open line Friday, Rush Limboa.
Serving humanity simply by showing up.
New opinion audit is in from the Sullivan Group.
Opinion auditing firm, no change, documented to be almost always right, 98.8% of the time.
When you get this close to perfection, you got to be perfect for a long time to move it up even one-tenth of a percentage point.
So I'm not disappointed.
It is it's it's a yeoman effort just to keep it where it is when you're at ninety-eight point eight percent, almost always right.
A big time crane collapse, Upper East Side, Manhattan today, First Avenue and East 91st Street.
One dead, the cab operator, and uh two who were on the ground when the thing snapped off.
I'm you know, they're gonna investigate this.
They had another crane accident in New York in March, and I just wonder, I mean, this is speculation, but if the mainstream media can do it, I can do it.
You know what mainstream media uh speculation is?
Every global warming story is speculation.
Every one of them.
It is not fact.
Every global warming story says something might happen.
That's not news.
News is what has happened.
News is what did happen.
News is what is happening.
News is not what might happen.
Thirty years from now, fifty years from now.
So if they can speculate, I, El Rushbow can speculate.
And I'd just like to know if any of these cranes and their manufacturing process and the deployment process and the use process of these cranes.
I wonder if there are new environmental regulations in New York City because there are environmental regulations in practically everything.
No trans fat in the restaurants, for example.
So I just wonder.
The uh the commissioner of buildings went out there and really laid into the names.
The contractor, the crane owner, the concrete developer or provider and so forth, because the drive-by media wanted to know all about who was responsible for this.
On WCBS TV's news coverage today, they took some phone calls.
And what they got, they got New York City Councilman Tony Avala, or Avella, I'm not sure A V E L L A. And got him on the phone.
The anchor, Maurice Dubois, said, Councilman, easy to say something has to be done.
In your opinion, what needs to be done here about the crane collapse?
Every crane operation in the city needs to be shut down at this point until it's fully inspected.
We can't keep putting people in jeopardy.
And what has to happen is some real legislation, not just talk about it.
And it's interesting the mayor's comment was, oh, we're not just going to talk about it, we're going to do something about it.
Legislation.
The crane was in was inspected last weekend.
I think I heard the mayor say that today.
The crane was inspected.
It passed inspection.
So here's a city council.
We need real legislation.
We need to shut down all these cranes.
Yeah, only the government can do this right, huh?
Okay, so we shut down all the cranes, Mr. Avella, and then you go inspect them all.
And then when you've approved them, then you go climb one and operate it.
You guys know how to do this.
As the mayor said, construction is a it's a it's a risky business.
Listen to this from Lester Holt.
We have time to squeeze this in on NBC.
For the last several months, New Yorkers have all walked around looking up at these cranes.
The city is in the middle of a construction boom.
You take these things for until we saw Construction Boom?
This is NBC.
This is Lester Holt, drive by media specialist.
New York City construction boom.
Construction boom.
Lester, haven't you gotten a memo?
We're in a recession, pal.
Recession.
We're gonna launch the shuttle tomorrow afternoon.
It's taking a new toilet up there to the um space station, a new toilet part.
You're whoopy Goldberg, what an idiot.
Told the astronaut, hey, just stick your butt out the window if the toilet's not working.
