Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
And greetings to you, music lovers, thrill seekers, conversationalists, all across the fruited plane.
What a day we have today.
It's Friday.
Let's get started.
Live from the Southern Command in sunny South Florida.
It's Open Line Friday.
Yeah, this is one of the days that we really look forward to here at the EIB Network, ladies and gentlemen.
Open Line Friday.
As you know, I am a benevolent dictator.
Nobody has the right to be heard on this program other than me.
Nobody has the right to say anything other than me unless I grant that right.
And Monday through Thursday, we only talk about the things that interest me.
But on Friday, I graciously open up the content portion of the program.
We go to the phones.
Whatever you want to talk about is what we talk about.
It can be anything.
You can whine, you can moan, you can be inspirational.
If you have questions you'd like answers to, this is the place.
The telephone number 800-282-2882 and the email address is lrushbow at eibnet.com.
So much to tell you today about Operation Chaos as it continues to wreak havoc on the Democrat Party.
Howard Dean is now in full panic mode, demanding that the superdelegates come to a decision right now.
He's tired of all this.
He doesn't want the chaos to go on any longer.
But it doesn't appear that Dr. Dean understands the nature of this race, particularly on the Hillary Clinton side.
We will get into all of that and more as the program unfolds today.
But as I told you yesterday, and we've been talking about it all week today, is our annual leukemia and lymphoma society cur-a-thon.
And we've done this.
This is our 18th year.
18 years ago, the Excellence in Broadcasting Network joined in the crusade to defeat leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma that today afflicts over 820,000 people in the United States alone.
I mean, even today, 135,000 new casualties occurred in 2007.
52,000 died from these diseases, six people every hour.
18 people during this broadcast today will die as 148 during the day will.
Now, 18 years ago, we here at the EIB Network, and I, of course.
What?
Oh, I see.
Oh, okay, ladies and gentlemen.
Let me interrupt my recounting of the surge against leukemia and lymphoma because I sent an email to the White House last night asking if I could have a couple minutes with the president today to issue him some heartfelt thanks over the welcoming ceremony to the Pope earlier this week.
And I'm told that the president is 30 seconds away.
Ah, the line dropped.
And they called us, so it's not our fault.
All right, so the White House will call us back.
At any rate, you people during this entire leukemia lymphoma society surge, and that's what we're calling it this year, the surge is working.
The outpouring of generosity that you all have committed to over the course of these 18 years has just been phenomenal.
The amount of money that's raised in a three-hour program once a year.
And we don't even devote the whole program to it.
We'll do the regular program today as well as intersperse pitches for people to participate today in the Leukemia Lymphoma Society curathon.
As with any war, there are battles, there are victories, there are losses, but this is a successful war.
We have found ourselves fighting.
It's the commitment and sacrifice and fortitude of you, the American people, to see things through that has resulted in victory.
This fight, no exception.
The enemy changes.
These blood cancers, they fight back.
But we have answered.
And because of you, there are approximately 50 drugs in addition to new therapies that have been developed to extend the fight.
You've heard me talk of the drug Gleevec before numerous times.
Gleevec is the most remarkable new agent that has been shown to normalize blood cell counts in nearly all patients.
One of the toughest forms of leukemia we've encountered, CML.
Now, this happened on our watch during our surge.
Leukemia has shown some resistance to Glevec therapy in some patients, but that doesn't matter because we've answered.
And with your support, two second-generation drugs entering clinical use are helping overcome that resistance in just the last couple of years.
We're very close now to having the president.
He just finished a ceremony announcing a new appointment.
And I frankly wasn't expecting him in the opening segment here.
But Mr. Snurdley is monitoring the phone lines, so when we get him, please.
Mr. President, I can't thank you enough for calling.
I really am gratified you took the time, sir.
How are you?
Anytime.
Thanks.
I'm doing great.
I have to tell you, something stirred in my soul, Mr. President, during the welcoming ceremony earlier this week at the White House for Pope Benedict.
And I've been moved by it ever since.
The U.S. Army chorus and band, the Battle Hymn of the Republic.
I've been playing it over and over again.
That ceremony, sir, was, you know, we're in a presidential campaign.
And as, you know, by definition, a presidential campaign, candidates are telling us what's wrong with the country.
And that day, you and the Pope brought God to Washington on public property.
It was just amazing.
I just wanted to thank you for it because it was so uplifting.
It was so timely.
The facial expressions on both you and the Pope during the Battle Hymn of the Republic were just priceless.
And I just wanted to take a little time to thank you for it because it didn't get much media coverage, the hymns and the song by Kathleen Battle, but it was just tremendous.
I wish you were there because the spirit on the South Lawn was alive, and it was a fantastic moment.
It was, you know, it was great.
I think there was about 13,500 people here.
Yeah, it was the largest welcoming ceremony in the history of the whole world.
Ever.
And it was really interesting to watch people's expression during the ceremony.
And particularly when his Holy Father got up to speak, there was just unbelievable respect, and everybody hung on his every word.
And it was beautiful.
And you're right, the Army choir was just fantastic.
I wish all Americans could have seen it.
Anyway, you're kind to say thanks.
It was a great honor for me.
And it's what you expect for the president to do.
And that is to welcome a world figure such as the Holy Father in such grand fashion.
Well, your remarks were excellent as well.
Well, thank you.
Your humility, of course, makes you leave yourself out of this, but your remarks were superb.
The whole day, that whole ceremony, what was it, 45 minutes?
You know, it was bang, bang, bang, but it was just powerful as it could be.
And I played that song all afternoon on the program, and I got more phone calls from people who were inspired by that.
That's great.
So it was a great day.
And I just, I personally wanted to publicly thank you for doing it because it's, like I said, it stirred my soul this week.
It really has.
Well, you're a good man, and I can't thank you enough for your kind words.
And look forward to seeing you up here in Washington again.
I'll buy you another meal when you're up here.
All right, I'll take you up on that.
Thanks very much.
Thanks for having a good weekend.
President Bush, let's take a break.
Do that right now.
Come back and continue with the success story that has been the Leukemia Lymphoma Society curathon right after this.
Don't go away.
Hi, welcome back, Rush Limbaugh.
Open Line Friday and our annual Leukemia Lymphoma Society curathon.
Write down this telephone number.
This is the number to contribute, to donate.
It's 877-379-8888.
That's 877-379-8888.
You can also donate at rushlimbaugh.com.
And as always, ladies and gentlemen, we have premiums for those of you who can contribute.
And we know it's a tough economy out there.
And we know a lot of people have been giving money to Hillary and Obama.
We can't figure out why in a tough economy, but they have been.
And so gasoline prices are up.
But you've come through every year.
You have stunned and shocked, pleasantly, happily surprised all of us every year.
For $70 this year, for a $70 donation, you can get a jump on our 20th anniversary here with an EIB 20th anniversary four-color t-shirt, One Size Fits All.
It's a masterful design thing that we've done here.
One Size Fits All.
A head start on the 20th anniversary, EIB 20th anniversary shirt for $70.
For a donation of $325, you get a special EID EIB golf shirt, special edition.
My signature on the left sleeve.
It's a great springtime blue, white lettering and piping on the sleeves.
You'll have your choice of sizes with this shirt.
You can always use MasterCard, Visa, American Express.
And when you go to my website and donate, you'll be in an entirely secure area.
You do not need to be concerned about any of your information being shared or passed to anybody outside the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
This is something we insist on here.
You will not end up on a mailing list.
You will not be receiving tons and tons of junk mail or other solicitations.
You will not be harassed by phone calls.
So go to rushlimbaugh.com.
You can see all the premiums there.
And if you can't hit the $70 or $325, you realize if everybody here just gave a dollar, then we would raise $12 to $15 million today alone.
If everybody just, and, you know, any amount is accepted, and the people at the Leukemia Lymphoma Society pass most of it through.
The administrative costs that they have are not very high at all.
Another reason why we are so happy to have the association with them.
So here's again the phone numbers: 877-379-8888.
Or go to rushlimbaugh.com.
Now, please indulge me here one more time, ladies and gentlemen.
I got so much response from this on Wednesday afternoon.
I want to play one more time here, especially in our first hour, because the first hour the program is broadcast on the Armed Forces Radio Network to men and women in uniform around the world.
The Army chorus and band on Wednesday at the arrival ceremony for the Pope, the Battle Hymn of the Republic, is just stirring.
You have to imagine a crystal blue sky, crystal clear, a clear day, 13,000 people clapping, cheering, smiling.
God brought to the White House public property at just the right time by so many people in this country are hearing about how rotten we are and how dangerous we've become to the world and how we have no future and that the future that we have is not going to be as good as our past.
And so part and parcel of a presidential campaign.
And I want, you know, I've listened to a lot of versions here since I heard this.
I went out, I found the Mormon Tabernacle Choir version, which is stunning as well.
And I found the recorded version on a CD of the U.S. Army chorus and band.
But for some reason, and I think it's the visuals that I have, this version that we have for you from the actual welcoming ceremony for the Pope, even though all three arrangements I've listened to are the same arrangement, this one to me is still the most stirring of the three.
And as I've been listening to it, I pick up nuances and people still say to me, I don't understand.
Rush, you say you can't hear music because of your hearing.
What?
Well, I can hear music I knew before I lost my hearing.
But also, folks, I can always hear God's music.
And this is God's music, written in 1861 in the middle of the Civil War.
The story of this song is, to me, evidence of divine intervention in and of itself.
But I want you to listen especially around three minutes and 30 seconds in when the chorus begins in a cappella with the most famous line in the song.
When they get to the final chorus of Glory, Glory, Hallelujah, I'm nuanced, but the Army chorus and that final riff from 350 on to 449, if you don't get chills up and down your back, then you're not human.
If you're driving around somewhere and you're at a stoplight, roll the windows down and turn this up so passersby can hear it.
Because it is a great tribute to God and a great tribute to the United States of America.
U.S. Army Chorus and Band.
It's nice to see the door.
His truth is party home.
His truth is party.
I've seen him in the watch fires of the hundred searching pants.
They have been altered in the heavenly Jews and pants.
I can be his righteous saint and sing the living where he lives.
His faith party, hallelujah, hallelujah,
Turn it up even a little louder from this point forward.
In all beauty of the living, Jesus Christ was born across the sea with all glory in his full song that transfigures you and me as he died
to make men holy.
Let us die to make men free while God is parting all.
Get ready.
Hallelujah, glory, glory, hallelujah.
Glory, glory, hallelujah.
His brother's party goes.
Glory, glory, hallelujah.
at the White House.
The welcoming ceremony for Pope Benedict XVI.
I'm obsessing on this, not just for the music of it, but for the emotions that it's creating in me each and every time I hear it.
All right, got to go to a break here soon.
We'll come back and get started with the Operation Chaos and Content portion of the program.
Remember, this is our curathon day.
We want to wipe out our surge is working.
We're going to wipe out leukemia and lymphoma.
877-379-8888 is the number to call.
Or you can go to our website, rushlimbaugh.com, Visa MasterCard, American, Visa Master, and American Express and total privacy.
Anything you can contribute, folks, is more than appreciated.
You have made this surge successful in each of the past 18 years.
We have no doubt you'll come through again this year.
Yeah, baby.
Half my brain tied behind my back.
Just to make it fair, it's Open Line Friday, and it's also our annual curathon.
We want to wipe out leukemia and lymphoma, the blood cancers.
Ladies and gentlemen, as I say every year, I watch these telethons and I listen to some of these things happen on radio and I'm always struck by the carnival barker who is on stage.
Come on, make the phones ring.
Don't you care?
You know, I keep saying, what are you doing, pal?
How much are you donating?
Well, I'm giving my time.
Oh, fine and dandy.
Ladies and gentlemen, as your commanding officer in Operation Chaos and in other areas, I never ask you to do something that I haven't done.
So I always kick this off with my own donation, and I try to increase it every year.
And I'm going to be able to this year.
I get a little bit nervous announcing the amount, but I always have every year.
And I announced the amount simply to try to get things moving.
So I think last year was around, I gave some appreciated stock last year that totaled around $262,000 or $272,000.
But Larry had a Larry Vanderveen is sitting up in our New York studio watching this with tears in his eyes because this program has opened so well.
Larry, $300,000 from me to get this started.
I want to break the record.
We want to do it every year.
And it's tough this year because of the economic circumstances that people genuinely face, the price of food, the price of gasoline, and so forth.
And everybody knows this going in.
But we still hope to hear from you in great numbers with great compassion as you've come through with record-breaking years every year for 18 years.
Again, the phone number is 877-379-8888.
Or go to rushlimbaugh.com and donate there with total privacy and security via credit card.
Now to the phones.
People have been waiting patiently.
We'll start since it's open line Friday with the phones first today.
Jeff in Jackson, Michigan.
Thank you, sir, and welcome.
Make a ditto from Jackson, Michigan Rush.
This is Jeff.
Yes, sir.
Hey, I want to thank you for Operation Chaos because I think that it's going to go much farther than the November election.
I think it's going to set the tone for politics in the future.
How so, sir?
You're on to something.
I just think that politicians have had, no matter what side, have had nobody to fear.
You know, not as many people vote, but the amazing thing is how many people are involved in Operation Chaos.
Well, you know, that's an interesting point.
There are far more people involved in Operation Chaos than just those in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Indiana and other places where it's coming up because Operation Chaos will extend into the fall.
In fact, let's grab audio soundbite number one.
This is from C-SPAN today.
Yesterday, I'm sorry, C-SPAN's Washington Journal yesterday.
And the guest was Michael Hagan of Temple University.
Unidentified caller called in.
I want to thank Rush Limbaugh because I think Operation Chaos has kept both of these candidates alive and fighting each other on issues that I think we all need to know about.
I actually think that in some ways, whether it's attributable to Mr. Limbaugh or not, I think it's been beneficial to the electorate and to the country to have the campaign and beneficial to the candidates in some respects.
I think they're much better candidates than they were.
Now, that is an elitist.
And elitist is not termed by how much money you have, it's by attitude.
Well, actually, some ways, whether it's attributable, Mr. Limbaugh or not to have.
Of course, it hasn't been attributable.
Mr. Limbaugh is a pig.
It has been beneficial to the elected.
Of course, it's out there working.
Everybody knows it's working, and they just, of course, are reluctant to credit me.
Drive-by media wants to credit the brilliance of voters in the Republican Party for recognizing that Obama or Hillary are the future of the country, when, in fact, both of them are so comically inept that it would be a disaster if either one of them were elected.
Howard Dean, in fact, here, grab audio soundbite number two.
Howard Dean on the Situation Room on CNN last night.
He's with Wolf Blitzer.
And Blitzer says, you want this thing resolved before July 1st, long before the convention in Denver at the end of August.
That's right.
There's about 65, roughly, percent of the superdelegates have voted.
There's about 320 some-odd left to vote.
I need them to say who they're for starting now.
They really do need to do that.
Yes, this is all the evidence that you need to hear that Operation Chaos is working.
They have to end this.
Now, yesterday, I made my own pitch to the superdelegates of the Democrat Party as we initiated the doomsday phase of Operation Chaos.
And it is clear after this debate in Philadelphia on Tuesday night.
Was it Tuesday night?
Was it last night?
Whatever.
Wednesday night.
The days are running together.
It's clear that neither of these two can get elected.
Obama is falling apart before our very eyes.
The messiah characteristics of Barack Obama have been obliterated, and he has been revealed to be nothing more than your average politician who hasn't yet acquired the experience sufficient to let him get away with all the lies that he tells.
Mrs. Clinton is known by enough people that half the country hates her.
They cannot win.
And so, my pitch to the superdelegates: you've got to get rid of these two.
Somehow, you have got to come up with a third candidate if you hope to win.
Have you seen the national polls?
Amazingly, McCain's pulled ahead of both these people.
And all he's had to do is nothing.
He's become the new nothing candidate.
Not that he says nothing.
He just doesn't have to.
Because these two people are tearing the Democrat Party apart, and Dean knows it.
And this is why Dean is pleading for the super.
I need a decision now.
Let me give you a superdelegate pop quiz, folks.
There's, what is it, 795 superdelegates who are going to override the voters in the Democrat primaries?
Do you know how many have not been named yet?
Give me a pop quiz mobile choice.
Is it less than 10?
Is it more than 10?
Is it more than 20?
Is it more than 50?
How many superdelegates haven't even been named yet?
Answer 6465.
Howard Dean wants the superdelegates to vote now.
Almost 10% of them haven't even been named.
Chairman Dean, you and the other white guys had better realize that Hillary Clinton is not.
And by the way, he wants them to vote now to get Obama nominated.
That's his whole point.
Just end this.
There's no way he can be saying this now for the superdelegates to vote for Hillary.
So you and the other white guys in the Democrat Party had better understand that Hillary Clinton is not just a candidate.
She is the symbol.
This is an ugly picture.
She is the symbol.
She is the hope, the embodiment of every woman everywhere, particularly on the Democrat side.
She has been used.
She has been abused.
She has been humiliated and kept down by sexist pigs like you, Dr. Dean.
And if you think that you can get your superdelegates all wound up here just to wipe her out of the race, you have a surprise.
Some female superdelegates backing Obama are having their sisterhood questioned, ladies and gentlemen.
This from the Associated Press, don't you find all of this stuff going on in the Democrat Party?
Why, that's where liberals are.
That's where the tolerance is.
And that's where the compassion is.
And that's where the love is.
And that's where the desire for perfection is.
Liberals believe that our world, our planet, our culture, our society can be perfected.
Of course, it's impossible, but they think it is possible.
And so they strive for this.
So they allow themselves any action to oppose those who don't believe in the possibility of perfection.
That would be us.
And so we are evil.
They are able, therefore, to justify whatever tactics they use because they are seeking utopia.
But all is not rosy in this party.
As you can see in the debate in Philadelphia on Wednesday, as you can see the race war that sprung up in the Democrat Party, and now there is sexism.
Female superdelegates backing Obama are having their sisterhood questioned, just as some black Democrats have been challenged for their endorsement of Hillary.
This is a party that does not see human beings.
They see, ooh, you're black.
Ooh, you're female.
Ooh, you're disabled.
Ooh, you're gay.
I think by looking at you, I think you're gay.
That's what the Democrat Party does.
And they try to put everybody into groups, usually as victims, and then feel sorry for them.
So now, female superdelegates backing Obama are being hit on by other Democrat babes as traitors, and blacks supporting Hillary are having the same thing happen to them as traitors.
And the reason some of these nobody, by the way, has accused Amy Klobuchar, Democrat Minnesota, betraying her gender in supporting Obama over Clinton, but they let her know that they're disappointed.
And the reason they give is if Clinton doesn't win the White House this year, no woman will reach that goal in their lifetimes.
Well, pity.
So this is about landmarks.
This is about historical achievements.
That's what this race is.
As I told you yesterday, the high concept, the Hollywood concept for fiction movies.
We got two high concepts here.
The first female possibility in the history of this racist, sexist nation to overcome racism, sexism, bigotry, and homophobia to become president.
And same thing with Obama.
First black guy with an honest, legitimate chance.
Those are the high expectations or the high concepts.
And it's all about anything but substance because there's nothing that recommends either one of them in terms of qualifications to be president.
Emily's List, Political Action Committee, Ellen Malcolm, the founder.
There's no question that some of our members are very angry.
They feel that they elect the women and they've gone to bat for the women and they want every single woman to go to bat for every woman candidate because she's a woman, regardless what she believes.
She's got to be a liberal, but regardless what she believes.
The point is, Dr. Dean, you've got turmoil throughout your party.
10% of your superdelegates haven't even been named.
And if you think that these women who run organizations that donate big to the Democrat Party are going to sit by and let you white guys treat Hillary Clinton with the disrespect that she has always been receiving from her husband over the, they're not going to put up with it.
This is the last stand.
You heard her.
There won't be a female elected president in these women's lifetimes unless Hillary is it.
Folks, this is the embodiment and the illustration, the culmination of Operation Chaos right before your very eyes.
Quick time out here.
Remember, 877-379-8888 to cure leukemia and lymphoma.
Or you can go to rushlimbaugh.com.
Back with more after this.
Now, the news just keeps getting better, ladies and gentlemen.
We are ahead.
We are ahead of our pace from last year.
That is amazing because I clutched up, and I didn't give the phone number out for the first 20 minutes of the program.
And we are still running ahead of last year.
I love you people.
I really do.
And I don't get a chance to tell you that as often as I should.
And there aren't words to express how much affection I have for you.
Now, I have been challenged here.
Not two or three years ago, I put out a little offer, and if somebody would donate X amount, that I would send EIB one to pick them up and bring them back.
It was so high, I said, this is never going to happen.
But it did.
There were two different couples, and we flew them in here, and one of the couples was their sisters in Oregon.
And they have challenged me.
They have told me if I will up my original donation to 400,000, that they will make a combined donation of 400,000 between them for a grand total of 800,000.
So I accept the challenge.
So it's done.
800 grand here in one hour just from three people.
And the numbers for you, we don't give out the numbers here until it's all come, but you're running ahead of last year.
What a fabulous week this has been.
Inspiring with the arrival ceremony at the White House, the speeches, the Pope's visit this week has inspired millions of people.
This program has been able to share in some of that.
Mr. Snerdley, by the way, during the break said, are you kidding me that these women in the Democrat Party that are saying that if Hillary doesn't get the presidency this year, nobody in the Democrat Party is going to be elected president in their lifetime?
And Snerdley said, is it really that bereft?
Is there really only one woman in the Democrat Party who could possibly be elected president?
He said, there are a lot of Democrats out there that run for the Senate, got more votes than Hillary ever has.
Diane Feinstein has, Barbara Box has said, that may be true, but they don't want it.
You know, you've got to want it before you get it when it comes to being pre.
That's to run for president is going to media anal that you get, except Obama's just now starting to get his media anal, and he doesn't like it.
I've never seen a guy run around whine and cry more about the way he's being treated in the media.
And now he's accusing Hillary of turning in the knife.
I understand Mr. Snerdley's problem.
A Democrat Party, when you've only got one woman in your whole ranks that wants a White House and she can't even wear a dress, it is a problem.
877-379-8888 to cure leukemia and lymphoma today, or you can go to www.rushlimbaugh.com.
Brian in Truckee, California.
Great to have you here, sir.
Hello.
How's it going, Rush Mega Dittis from Truckee?
Thank you, sir.
Great.
I'm between the ages of 18, 35.
I'm actually 27.
And I just wanted to dispute your claim the other day that people between the ages of 18 and 35 automatically believe in global warming.
I've actually due the weather here for some ski resorts in Lake Tahoe.
And I think it's pretty easy just doing any kind of research with scientists right now.
There's so many scientists out there that are against man-made global warming, and I don't understand how people in politics, especially the president, don't hear from these people.
You had 400 scientists in December sign a document they sent to the Senate saying that they didn't believe in may-made global warming and said that there's many more of them.
They just can't say anything because they'll lose funding.
That's exactly right.
They will lose funding and they'll be shunned by their elitist peers.
You know, you, how did you say you were?
27.
You're 27.
So you are between the age range of 18, 35.
I was making a guess, but my point is that if you are between 18 and 35, you probably, the odds are, you probably buy into the whole notion that we, human beings, particularly in advanced societies, are destroying the planet via climate change.
You look at the number of, look at General Electric.
General Electric, the CEO there, Jeff Immelt, has made the decision to go totally green.
That's because he thinks his customers buy into this.
It's the same thing with automobile manufacturers.
They're coming up with more and more hybrid versions of vehicles.
They think their customers buy into this.
Politicians sign on to it because they think that a number of people buy into it and will vote on it.
There's no leadership on this.
Nobody willing to stand up and say, it's a hoax.
It hasn't been proven.
There's no science that can guarantee and prove that what these people claim is happening because of man.
So I'm glad to note that you're an exception to that group of people.
Keep up and don't give up.
Quick timeout.
Back after this, folks.
Stay right where you are.
An amazing story here from AP.
Headline, executives see credit and housing as the biggest threats, but you know what they see as the second biggest threat?
They don't put it this way.
I will.
I'll give you the details when we come back.
Democrats, the election of Democrats to the presidency, the second biggest threat to the American economy because they'll raise taxes.
