Time Text
Welcome to today's edition of the Rush 24-7 podcast.
You know, this just isn't fair, folks.
No human being should be allowed to have the kind of fun I am having and am going to have today.
I know fun is not a zero-sum game.
Just because I'm having a lot doesn't mean somebody else isn't, but I sure feel like I'm stealing other people's share of fun.
It is great to be with you.
I can barely hear the theme song.
Would you turn that up?
There you go.
Rush Limbaugh here in the EIB Network and the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.
A thrill, a delight to be with you.
Telephone number is 800-282-2882.
The email address is rush at EIBnet.com.
I thought the thing had died down.
I thought this whole phony soldier thing had died down, but it hasn't and it won't because I'm not going to let it.
It's now becoming, it has gotten ridiculous.
It's too much fun.
But we do have other things.
I want to tell you that.
For example, we have amazing new research.
For those of you who are new to this program, we often keep track of sex change operations on the medical front out there because federal funds and city funds are used in healthcare plans, say, in places like San Francisco to pay for these operations.
We have affectionately named a female-to-male sex change operation, the addedictomy.
And we have news about addedictomies today.
What else?
We also have people are dying out there because of enemas.
And it may sound odd to you, but I want to fill you in because we're dying of everything.
And now enemas have been added to it.
And you need to know about this.
By the way, for those of you who have written wondering what's wrong with the website today, www.rushlimbaugh.com.
We had a programming glitch last night, what I'm told.
And our webmasters are feverishly working, going through the code, trying to find the glitch.
And when they tell me that we've got the all clear, I will mention this to you so that you can get in.
There are ways to get in, but it'd be too complicated for me to try to explain it here.
I have no trouble getting in.
It is.
Okay, it's fixed.
All right, never.
Nobody told me.
So just told me now, so it is fixed.
We got programming glitch taken care of, website up to snuff.
You know, I was wondering this morning when I got here to the EIB broadcast complex, I was wondering if the Democrats might be feeling as though they had opened up a Pandora's box with all this.
Did we hear about Ken Salazar?
Ken Salazar, a senator from Colorado, wants to censure me?
You know, folks, this guy, he might be smarter than we think.
I don't know if he knows the Constitution.
I don't know.
When's the last time, Senator Salazar, you read the Constitution?
You have no power to censure me or any other private citizen.
Did you realize what a fool you sound like when you want to censure me?
You'd have to make me a senator to censure me.
And you might want to do that because then I couldn't do the radio show.
I'd have to take a pay cut, give up the radio show, and then I'd become a senator.
But if you did that, I would tilt the majority to the Republicans in the Senate.
It's the only way you can censure me.
You can't censure private citizens, even though you're talking about doing it.
But I do have an idea.
Senator, I will censure you.
I will censure you for repeating lies about a private citizen.
I will censure you for being ignorant about the Constitution.
You should be censured for being a fool.
I'll tell you who else is.
We're going to start censuring people.
Let's start censuring John Kerry and Senator Jack Murtha and Dick Durbin and Harry Reid.
I mean, these are the people talking down the troops.
Let's censure them.
You guys need to focus on your own house there and your own Senate rather than focusing on me.
Anyway, I was just wondering this morning if they might be feeling as though they've opened up a Pandora's box, you know, because everybody now knows the background of Media Matters.
Everybody knows that Hillary Clinton started it.
She's taking credit for starting it and founding it.
Media Matters people are very nervous.
They're being asked about this.
No, she really had nothing to do.
So somebody's lying.
Media Matters said she wasn't involved.
She says she is.
This is no small thing.
You know, this group was working under the radar, under cover of darkness.
Nobody in the general population knew much about them.
And now the light of truth is shining on Media Matters.
And more people than ever before are aware of who they are and what they do because of this huge audience.
So this cast of characters and their purpose now being brought out into the light.
And these people to succeed need to operate in the dark.
You know, Hillary has to be having major fits over all this information, being subjected to greater scrutiny.
And there's one thing else I don't think the Democrats calculated when they started attacking me, and that is that they are framing the discourse in terms favorable to Republicans.
In other words, in their false accusations that I insult the military, they are saying that it's very bad to criticize the military.
They're saying it's unconscionable to attack the military.
And yet, who actually is attacking the military?
They are.
Could it be that it's suddenly fashionable to be or claim to be pro-military?
I don't think this is what the far left had in mind.
The far left, the kooks, the lunatic fringe, can't be happy hearing these elected officials not only say, and these presidential candidates not only say that there's no way they can get the troops out of Iraq by the end of their first term.
Now they're out there talking up the troops, talking up the military, trying to make themselves sound so patriotic.
This is not what they had in mind when they started this.
And after the truth prevails in this situation, they're going to be left in a position where it'll be harder for them to pull off any Petraeus-Betraeus type attacks because they've been going back and forth.
You can call Petraeus, and he sits in front of you a liar.
You can question his authenticity.
You can question his legitimacy as opposed to just a puppet for Bush.
And you can't come out and start praising Petraeus and people like him and go back to once again ripping them.
And all of this is happening under a great spotlight, a great amount of sunshine, which is something I don't think they intended.
Let's go to the audio soundbites, shall we?
We have a montage of this morning and last night.
We have Joe Scarborough of MSNBC, John Roberts of CNN, Willie Geist, MSNBC, somebody else on MSNBC, and Nora O'Donnell all talking.
This poor guy, Brian McGuff of votevets.org, he's running around saying that I called him a suicide bomber yesterday on this program.
And of course, he says it, there's no questioning it.
And here's the montage of the drive-bys reacting to it.
Sit tight, Dawn.
Dawn's about to explode in there.
She came in today, walked in.
I am never going to watch or listen to Geraldo again after last night.
And I have never, Alan Combs, just, you know, chill.
Chill.
Everything's under control here.
It's going our way.
Here's the montage.
We're going to hear for the next five days how Rush Lindbaugh called this guy suicide bomber.
Limbaugh called this guy a suicide bomber.
Metaphor to say he's like a suicide bomber.
Comparing that soldier to a suicide bomber.
Essentially comparing him to a suicide bomber.
All right.
Would anybody care what I actually said about this?
Would you like to hear what I actually said?
This was Tuesday on the program, and I was talking about the ad that they are running.
You know, this is such a blatant use of a valiant combat veteran lying to him about what I said, then strapping those lies to his belt, sending him out via the media and a TV ad to walk into as many people as he can walk into.
This man will always be a hero to this country with everyone.
Whoever pumped him full of these lies about what I said and embarrassed him with this ad has betrayed him.
They're not hurting me.
They're betraying this soldier.
Now, unless he actually believes what he's saying, in which case it's just so unfortunate and sad when the truth of what I said is right out there to be learned.
I called him a hero.
I called him a hero.
The other reference is to where the drive-by media runs in, blows things up, creates all these messes, and then heads on down the road to create another one.
So now I call him a suicide bomber.
You see how this works?
I didn't call anybody who legitimately serves a phony soldier.
I didn't call this guy a suicide bomber.
That's all I'll do.
I call him a suicide bomber.
Here's McGuff.
He was on MSNBC last night talking about the fact that I called him a suicide bomber.
Reaction is disgust.
How someone can sit in that chair and say that I am a car bomber or excuse me, a suicide bomber is disgusting.
I've seen the after effects of a suicide bomb.
I've had friends that were hurt in suicide bombs.
It makes me mad down to a place where I can't even think to describe.
It's just repugnant.
And it's not just repugnant.
It's very sad.
Brian, let me try this again.
Mr. McGuff, I admire you for your service.
I admire anyone and everyone who volunteers to serve in the United States military in this country always have.
I'm grateful to you for your service.
And that, Brian, is an unqualified thank you, whether or not you support the war or the surge, President Bush or not.
But, Brian, there are phony soldiers.
You aren't one.
Brian McGuff is not a phony soldier, and I never called you a phony soldier.
Jesse Macbeth, and there are lots of Jesse Macbeths.
And by the way, do you know he was born in 1984?
Do you know what his name was when he was born?
Jesse Al-Zaid.
Jesse Al-Zaid was his real name.
Changed his name to Macbeth sometime after he was born.
A lot of phony soldiers out there.
The latest report of the latest phony soldier comes from Philadelphia and New Jersey media, the Democrat mayor of Atlantic City had been lying about his Vietnam service record.
Now he's AWOL.
Nobody knows where he is.
There's lots of phony soldiers out there, Brian, but never called you one, not calling you one now, never would call you one.
But the people that talk about fake purple hearts and that lie about people like you, Brian, these are people who are telling people that you hang innocent Iraqi citizens from the rafts of mosques.
I'm defending people like you, Brian McGuff.
You're being filled with a bunch of hate-inspired lies about me.
And you know, your anger about this is understandable, but it's misdirected.
I never implied, never said that you, Brian McGuff, or any of your group were phonies.
A political hit squad called Media Matters did that.
Your beef is with them, not me.
Now, there's something I can do, and I'm in the process of doing it.
It's the least I can do.
Your organization is choosing to raise money using my name.
And I'm happy about that.
It's the least I can do for you guys.
If you need to raise money and my name raises money, my name raises money for a lot of people, you go right ahead.
Because, Brian, it's going to come back to me.
Here's how it works: you keep using your money that I raise for you to run ads on radio.
If you buy time on my affiliates, and it's smart to do, that's going to reach you the largest audience.
We use your money to make money for my stations.
So, it's a win-win here, Brian.
I'm happy to raise money for you.
I'm happy when you give it back to me.
All right, welcome back, Rush Limbaugh Talent on loan from God.
Now, I realize that many of you are just hanging out there.
That's a bad choice of words.
Some of you, well, it fits.
Some of you people hanging out there just the edge of your chairs, waiting to hear the latest news on the addictomy research that has been done.
I'm going to do this before we get back to our audio sound bites with Mrs. Clinton.
Most people, this is Reuters Health, ladies and gentlemen.
Most people who undergo male to female sex change surgeries are satisfied.
This we call the choppedocophamy, by the way.
Most people who undergo the choppedocophamy are satisfied with the results.
This is according to a follow-up study of patients treated at one of the UK practice over a 10-year period.
Dr. Jonathan C. Goddard and colleagues, University Hospitals of Leicester, reviewed the cases of 222 individuals who had undergone the procedure known medically as feminizing genitoplasty.
But that's such a long word.
It's so confusing.
We have come up with our own terminology for this.
At the first outpatient visit after the surgery, 88% said they were happy when they became babes.
7% said they were unhappy.
Now, among patients who had undergone the addedictomy procedure, they said it's too sensitive and they needed to have the surgery again because it was just uncomfortable.
It was much, much less satisfying to go the addictomy route.
So, if you're thinking about it, I just wanted to make sure.
Well, with an expanded audience, what is what?
I don't know what the doctor.
All I know is the results.
We don't have the questions, Mr. Snertley, that the patients were asked.
All we know is what they told the doctors.
Also, negligent homicide charges, we're all going to die of something, and there's a new craze out there.
And you tell you, for you married people, this is something all of you might want to be on the lookout for.
A negligent homicide charge has been dropped against a former Lake Jackson, Texas woman who had been accused of killing her husband with sherry, the adult beverage in an enema that led to alcohol poisoning.
Court records show that the charge against Tammy Gene Warner of Texas City was dismissed August 31st because of insufficient evidence.
Well, I wonder why that might be.
You give somebody alcohol enema, alcohol poisoning, you know what enemas cause, and there's no evidence.
This is clever.
You better keep this in mind.
Those of you having marital strife, this is apparently, people will take note of this.
I've heard of people doing this, by the way, not to get alcohol poisoning of people who worried about all the calories and alcohol.
I have heard of alcohol enemas just to get the buzz, but no calorie absorption.
No, I've heard this, Dawn.
It's really true.
It's not a lot, but I've heard about it over the course of my life.
Look, and I have a wide and varied experience in life.
Have met and run into many people.
Okay, continuing, not continuing, moving on, here's Mrs. Clinton.
We want to go back to August 4th of 2007 at the yearly cause convention.
We are certainly better prepared and more focused on taking our arguments and making them effective and disseminating them widely and really putting together a network in the blogosphere in a lot of the new progressive infrastructure institutions that I helped to start and support, like Media Matters and Center for American Progress.
Institutions I helped to start, like Media Matters and the Center for American Progress.
So last night, Media Matters sent a stooge out to deal with this on Tucker Carlson's show at MSNBC.
And Tucker said to Paul Waldman of Media Matters, so Hillary helped start and support Media Matters.
It's a political organization then.
Well, we don't make any bones about the fact that we are a progressive organization.
We don't endorse candidates.
We don't coordinate with candidates.
It was started by David Brock, whom you know.
He used to be a conservative and a big part of the conservative movement.
But when he had a change of heart, he realized that there was a big gap in the whole area of how we look at the media.
And so what we at Media Matters do every day is we look at the mainstream media, we monitor the conservative media, and when we find misinformation, we put it up on our website, explain why it's wrong.
And another part of what we do is we look for the kinds of things like this statement by Rush Limbaugh that people find problematic.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Look for the statement and then lie about it.
You don't get to determine my meaning.
You don't get to interpret what was in my mind.
You don't get to create this so-called ambiguity that's out there.
Then Tucker said, wait a minute.
What does Hillary mean that she helped start Media Matters?
Well, I think that she's supportive of what we do, and a lot of people have encouraged her.
She's not going to start it.
No, I think she's just, she's been someone who is who encouraged it and was supportive like a lot of progressives.
Wait a minute.
I thought Media Matters was infallible.
I thought whatever they said was unassailable.
You won't even suppose to examine what Media Matters says.
Now we've got Mrs. Clinton saying that she helped start Media Matters.
Now we've got a Media Matters guy saying she didn't.
Now, when I grew up, what this kind of lesson taught me was when you have two people saying different things, one of them is lying.
You might say that one of them is wrong, but that wouldn't cover what's happening here.
So this is just what I said earlier when I opened up today's excursion into broadcast excellence.
Mrs. Clinton cannot be happy that this organization, which needs to work in the dark in order to succeed, has now got all this light being shined on.
It's a tough choice here to choose who's the liar, Mrs. Clinton or Media Matters.
I wouldn't want to have to be the judge on that.
I know.
Happily say so.
Rush Limbaugh, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have here on the Excellence in Broadcasting Network.
Amen.
Meeting and surpassing all audience expectations on a daily basis.
I want to go back.
I kind of glossed over this, but the phony soldier being discussed on this program since last Wednesday, Jesse McBith was born as Jesse Al-Zaid in 1984, Al-Zaeed, Z-A-I-D.
Now, he did something interesting in January of 2006.
After he told all of these lies, After he lied about his purple, the guy never got out of boot camp, folks.
He washed out after 44 days.
He was never a Green Beret, special ops, never anything.
Never went to Iraq.
The whole thing was manufactured.
And he had to do this on purpose.
Obviously, he had to do this on purpose with the intent of discrediting the U.S. military.
Now, these are the people, before they learn the truth, the Democrat Party embraces.
Sad to say.
So he tells all these lies about all these soldiers that he saw hanging innocent civilians from the rafters of mosques and all this.
His words were spread all over the world on the internet.
They were translated into Arabic.
And I'm assuming here that Al-Zaid is an Arabic name.
So what we have here in the case of Jesse Macbeth, who, by the way, was originally embraced, he was a hero to the anti-war lift.
They loved spreading the lies.
Are there any retractions coming from them now?
No.
And there won't be.
The truth is inconvenient.
It is fiction that propels the anti-war movement, ladies and gentlemen.
But in 2006, in January of 2006, he joined Iraq Veterans Against the War.
And he was welcomed into this group.
It should raise questions about the mission.
Yeah, you served or we're grateful, but what are you doing now?
We reject it.
You don't represent most vets and those serving.
The Jesse Al-Zaids of the world do not represent most vets and those serving now.
So he joins this group and they welcome him.
I don't know that he will ever be denounced by these guys.
Let me tell you one thing about what's going on with Media Matters.
I don't want to leave it here that somebody's lying.
Mrs. Clinton says she helped start it.
Media Matters says, no, she didn't.
She's just a supporter.
They have nonprofit status, which prohibits them from being involved in politics.
If you can believe this, they have nonprofit status at Media Matters, which prohibits them from being involved in politics.
So if they admit that Hillary Clinton was the driving force behind founding them, if they admit that they are coordinating in any way with her or her other entities and campaign people, if they admit that they are in any way doing her bidding, then they've got a serious IRS issue.
And so that's why they've got to maintain their non-profit status.
You know, these people, they're on, they are, he did not admit that she started it.
He said she's a support.
He denied that.
They can't afford to admit it.
She's the one who said it.
She's the one who said it.
So if they confirm it, I know you're probably saying, well, if she admits it, then why the hell do they hold on to their nonprofit status?
That's somebody's going to have to pursue that.
I don't know that anybody will.
But anyway, this is not good for them.
The light of truth shining on who they are.
Look, this is one of these groups that has to operate in the dark with only their like their official TV outlets, MSNBC.
MSNBC's primetime programming largely is produced by Media Matters.
All right, let's go back to the soundbites, folks.
As you know, Wesley Clark, yesterday, all over television, lying through his teeth about me.
He was claiming that I have a long history of disrespecting and criticizing uniformed military personnel.
So I decided to hit back, call him on the lies, and then ask him again, how are you sleeping at night, General?
Knowing you could have done something about the genocide of 800,000 Rwandans.
I'm sleeping very well every night these days.
Thank you.
How are you sleeping?
So last night on MSNBC, Tucker Carlson, who's doing his best along with Scarborough now and then to hold up the right end on that network, interviewed Wesley Clark.
Our pet name for him here is Ashley Wilkes.
And Tucker says to him, here's part of what you wrote in the Huffington Post.
You said this.
Since Rush Limbaugh won't listen to us, we're going directly to Congress, which can prevent him from disrespecting and censoring the voices of our soldiers.
Now, with all respect, that's almost Orwellian, General.
You're accusing him of censorship and at the same time attempting to censor him by taking him off the air.
Well, I think he's crossed the line, Tucker.
But the point is you're dealing with a right-wing guy who contributes to a really bad environment of public dialogue in America.
Even the three things you quoted about me aren't true.
I've answered many times for Rwanda.
It's in my book.
I've said it many times.
I was never a Republican.
I never supported George W. Bush.
And yes, I have attacked him.
But Rush doesn't care about the facts.
That's not the point.
The point is the manner of the dialogue.
Orwellian is right.
You know, people getting upset with me for calling them Stalinists.
Okay, they're socialists.
He wants Congress to shut me up because he doesn't like the nature of my dialogue.
This simple thing for you to do, General, and that's don't turn it on.
But he says that he never was a Republican.
Now, we went to factcheck.org.
Was Wesley Clark a Republican?
He registered as an independent, says he voted for Nixon and Reagan, then for Clinton and Gore, later praised Bush, but now criticizing.
A New Hampshire voter emails us to ask, I'm considering voting for Clark, and I'm still searching in his background.
I'm concerned about different snippets that I hear about his Republican background.
Have you done any articles on this or plan to?
And here's what factcheck.org wrote.
Clark has never been registered as a Republican.
During his Army service, he registered to vote as an independent, as do many career military officers in his home state of Arkansas.
Says he voted for Republican presidents Nixon and Reagan out of concern for national security.
But he says later he found Republicans to be shrill and isolationist.
So he says he voted for fellow Arkansas resident Bill Clinton and most recently for Al Gore, both Democrats.
Clark changed his voter registration to Democrat only after retiring from the Army in 2000, declaring himself a candidate for his party's nomination late in September 2003.
Clark also spoke approvingly of President Bush on two occasions in 2001 and 2002 that were captured on videotape.
You can see these for yourself by clicking on the video box to the right.
Clark's opponents keep attacking him for his late conversion to the Democrat Party.
Kerry's New Hampshire chair Gene Shaheen, a former governor of the states, quoted this week as saying, this is from January of 2004, quoted this week as saying the candidate is not a Democrat, meaning Wesley Clark.
Joe Lieberman said January 4th on ABC's this week, I mean, this is a man who wasn't a Democrat four months ago and who voted for Nixon, Reagan, and Bush.
So there remains, I don't think this clears anything up.
We can play this.
I don't think it clears anything up.
I say Clark was a Republican.
He says he wasn't.
This is how Media Matters plays it.
If the drive-by media treated me like they treat Media Matters, I say he's a Republican.
He's a Republican.
And that would be the end of the story.
And they'd go say, why are you lying about not being, I would never rip a.
Limbaugh says you are a Republican.
And start doing a week-long series of shows on how Wesley Clark lies.
Next soundbite from MSNBC.
Tucker Carlson said, I want to know if you're going to apply that same standard of censoring Limbaugh to the rest of public broadcasting in this country.
And there's a lot of it.
A lot of entities get money from the federal government to put opinions on the air.
You think Congress ought to decide what opinions are acceptable and which aren't and yank the unacceptable ones off the air?
That's what you seem to be saying.
There are standards for propriety in public broadcasting.
Are there not?
I mean, there's X-rated, there's R-rated in public broadcasting.
This is called political beliefs.
Wait a minute.
Wait a minute.
We should be talking about the facts.
We should be having a good discourse in America.
I don't see why there can't be standards for political discourse.
I'd like to see A-rated, B-rated, and C-rated political discourse.
I told you nobody should be allowed to have the kind of fun that I am having today.
I doubt this idiot has ever read the Constitution, the First Amendment freeze food.
I think he is.
I think he's a Rhodes scholar.
I think he's a Rhodes.
Would you come to these people?
This is funny, and you're sitting there snerdly.
You are getting so mad you're turning white.
He is livid in there.
He wants ratings on political speech, and he wants Congress to set the ratings.
Just like we have ratings on movies in this political speech before McCain Feingold was the particular speech to be protected in the First Amendment.
All speech was, but it was singled out.
So he wants ratings.
Now, Tucker, Tucker just rips him apart here in the next bite.
He was talking about what Limbaugh said about our soldiers.
Oh, no, no.
He said, what we need to do is we need to be raising the whole standard of political discourse in America.
Well, you call it Larry.
Okay, I'm asking you to raise it.
Let's just say that that was unfair to say that.
Let's have the Congress get into this issue.
This is just political nonsense.
This is not political nonsense.
Let's have the Congress get into it.
We've played audio of some of these soundbites that I have here for you, ladies and gentlemen, about things that Democrats have said.
If we had a political speech rating system, how would we rate this from Harry Reid?
Now, I believe myself the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Defense, and you have to make your own decision as to what the president knows.
This war is lost, that the surge is not accomplishing anything.
Dick Durbin, you remember this.
If I read this to you and didn't tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners on their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets, and their gulags, some mad regime, Paul Potter, others that had no concern for human beings.
Sadly, that's not the case.
This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.
And you have John Kerry: education.
If you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well.
If you don't, you get stuck in a rock.
So, Iraq war veterans are stupid.
You've heard all these quotes.
We have played all of these soundbites.
Harry Reid calling me unpatriotic.
I replied by calling him a phony patriot.
And we created a pretty good graphic of that at rushlimbaugh.com.
And Wesley Clark is upset about the tone.
He is a total moron.
He's a total ignoramus and moron to suggest something like this.
Look, he's carrying somebody's water out there.
Everybody has to get paid these days.
Everybody has to do something to earn a living.
But as I say, my fun quotient is way over what I should be allowed each day.
We'll be back here in just a second.
Stay.
Wesley Clark.
What's really scary is this guy, you know, he was the general at NATO.
He ran NATO.
Wesley Clark has had over a week now to get himself properly informed on this issue and has not done so.
He's either unable to or is unwilling to or doesn't care about the truth.
And maybe that's why, you know, when he was running NATO, you remember there was an accident.
You people may not remember this, but of course, my memory extends way, way back.
You may remember that in the early days of the Mad Bomber of Bosnia's campaign, somebody misfired on his orders probably and hit the Chinese embassy.
Anyway, it almost became an international incident.
Meanwhile, he stands by 800,000 Rwandans being slaughtered.
Yeah, we just said it happened so fast it just sort of slipped by.
But he ends up targeting, well, misfiring at the mistargeting his old map.
They said they had an old map.
Anyway, we're going to get to the phone show in just a second, but I've got to tell you this.
This is actually funny, too.
There's a letter that the Democrats are sending out from the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee to fundraise off of my name and this phony soldiers flap that they have started and are lying about.
Dear friend, demand that Rush Limbaugh apologize.
That's the latest salvo from Democrats who want Americans to believe that the influential talk show host has insulted you.
It is so absurd.
But get this, writing on behalf of the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee, a political group that works to elect Democrats, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Thursday said he normally ignores Rush Limbaugh, but Limbaugh's recent comment about phony soldiers went too far for him to stay silent, Reed said.
It's one thing to call me Dingy Harry.
He actually acknowledges the name I call him in this letter.
It's one thing to call me Dingy Harry.
But it's another to insult our men and women in uniform.
Which you know, Senator, never happened.
All right.
Belinda in Alexandria, Virginia, I'm glad you waited.
I appreciate your patience.
Welcome to the EI.
Meghan Dittos from a Rush Babe travel.
Thank you.
I'm trapped in Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C., and no one represents me, local, state, or federal.
Rush, you warned us a year ago or a month ago that the Dems would be trying to make a turnaround to make themselves look patriotic, religious, and concerned.
And by picking on you, that's what they're trying to do.
Yes, and that prediction, I said, by December, they hope to have accomplished this because they've gone over the cliff and it is backfired.
And this planned and coordinated attack, which is filled with as many lies as I've ever heard in one story be as protracted in length as this one has, is what they think is going to cause them to be able to turn this around.
But this is not going to sit well with their kook fringe base who doesn't want to hear good things about the military.
Exactly, exactly.
It's going to be firing against them, and it hasn't worked.
We love you, and the military loves you, Rush.
Thank you very much.
I love you too, Belinda, more than I will ever be able to acknowledge.
We'll be back right after this.
Don't go away, folks.
All righty, Mark, Mark in Sacramento.
I've got one minute, but I wanted to get to you before the hour ended.
Welcome to the program, sir.
Hey, Rush, it's good to talk to you.
Thank you.
Hey, listen, God bless what you do for this country.
I appreciate that.
Thank you, sir.
Listen, I was watching your monologue this morning, and you were talking about that soldier who's kind of gone off the reservation with the Dems leading him the way.
And it occurs to me that you've got to be careful that the Dems don't just declare or the drive-bys don't just declare that you've apologized and begin to end this thing because they're getting their tails whipped.
You know, look, as this lesson has said, this lesson has illustrated, it doesn't matter what I say.
They are going to lie about it regardless.
When they think they've got a chance to pull it off, they're going to lie about it.
I'm not going to be worried about it.
I'm not going to start couching what I say to make sure it can't be distorted because anything anybody says can be distorted.
We're dealing here with the potential loss of meaning when others get to say what other people meant and what they were thinking when they say things.
This is a dangerous direction that we're heading.
I got to take a quick time out.
Don't go away.
Oh, that's right.
I still have time.
Well, I've said everything I need to say, so screw it.
I need to get up and take a break here to top of the hour anyway.
