On Friday, we open it up to include basically whatever you wish to bring up.
Have a seat, Dawn.
Great to see you back.
Looking forward to talking to you.
800-282-2882 is the phone number.
Lewis Libby indicted five counts.
One count of uh of uh obstruction of justice, two counts of lying to investigators, and two counts of perjury uh before the grand jury his uh soon to resign.
I think he's already sent his letter.
He resigns not just to the vice president but to the president since he's on the National Security Council staff, so he will he will resign having been uh indicted.
You know, I'm I'm thinking back to how this all started.
Uh and I can't I cannot get past this Novak column and how this this this really is the focal point of of the investigation, but there were things that happened uh before that.
Uh there was a there were but i i in the run up to the war, vice president Cheney and some others were trying to determine the nuclear capability or status of Saddam, and they asked the CIA.
And the CIA apparently at that point, however it happened, it appears it happened through the recommendation of Joe Wilson's wife.
It appears that the CIA sent Wilson over to Niger to check out this uh British intelligence rumor that uh or or report that there had been attempts by Iraq to buy yellow cake uranium from Niger.
Cheney didn't know who the CI had sent.
Cheney didn't even know what the CI was going to do.
He had just made the request for them.
What what's going on?
What we we need to find some data here on the potential nuclear side of the weapons of mass destruction.
So Wilson comes back and first appears without his name being mentioned in a column by Nicholas Christoff in the New York Times.
And they read this in the White House and and and Wilson comes back and says, There's nothing there, there's nothing to this.
Uh, this administration is making all this stuff up, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And they say, Well, who the hell is this?
This is an unnamed ambassador.
Who the hell is this?
So Scooter Libby and the boys start trying to find who the who the hell is this?
And that's what got this whole process going, and they eventually find out that it's Joe Wilson.
And as a side aspect of this, they find out that Wilson's wife works at the CIA.
Uh not in a covert job, but she's in a she's a weapons of mass destruction analyst in a desk job at the CIA.
And it it appears that their real interest was Wilson here.
Find out who the hell is he?
How did he get sent?
Wilson in that Kristoff column alluded to the fact the vice president's office had sent him.
And Cheney said I didn't send, I didn't know who he guy was.
All Cheney did was ask the CIA.
Find out something.
It's a CIA then took the ball, apparently ran with it, and Wilson got the trip after two urgings of the CIA by his wife, the courageous and brave Valerie Play.
So uh Wilson then, after appearing in the Christoph column anonymously, then writes his New York Times op-ed, which expands further on what he thinks was no evidence of Iraq trying to buy yellow cake uranium from Niger, and further lies by the administration of weapons of mass destruction.
Now they're really ticked off in the White House and trying to figure out who this guy is.
And and and uh and why this all been because when he gave his report to the CIA when he got back, as Bob Woodward points out last night at Larry King Live.
We had the audio tape for you.
His his report to the CIA basically confirmed what everybody thought that there had been contact between Iraq and Niger over yellow cake uranium.
So this guy Wilson's out there lying to Christoph and lying, and Walter Pinkus as well.
The Washington Post is involved in this uh in in carrying anonymously uh Joe Wilson's story forward, and then Wilson.
Well, I think I think Pink has quoted Wilson.
I think Wilson was known in that story in the post, but then Wilson writes his op-ed in the New York Times, and there, and that the White House who who who who the hell is this guy?
So like Butchcasting the Sundance Kid.
Who are those guys?
Keep chasing us and so forth.
So they set out, obviously, to try to discredit what the guy was doing.
He was undercutting the the uh the whole effort here single handedly, and the press had glommed onto him, and he was he was irrefutable.
He was a godsend, he was a saint, he was infallible.
Joe Wilson became everybody on the left's hero because he was talking about how the administration was lying and we had no business going to war and the weapons of mass destruction stuff was being made up and uh and and all of this.
And in the process of trying to find out who he is, the fact that uh his wife worked at CIA was learned.
There was no effort to out her, there was no, and if there were, there would have been an indictment on that today.
I can safely say after two years of an investigation, if there was an effort to out, if the whole vice president's effort, the White House effort, whoever was involved, if there was an effort to out her to stumble Joe Wilson and to cause him pain and suffering because of what he had done, there would be an indictment on that today.
But apparently there isn't.
Now we've got the press conference from Fitzgerald coming up at two o'clock.
What we've got today is an indictment that Libby uh uh uh lied, perjury, obstruction of justice, and so forth in the investigation of uh of all this.
But no charge as to the central purpose or theme of this uh of this investigation.
So it's it sounds to me if you put the pieces together, and then I still want to know who told Novak.
You know, I I still want to know who told Robert Novak this woman's identity.
That's that's what got this whole thing started.
A lot of people think that this CIA mission that Wilson was given at the urging of his wife, actually ended up being an attempt by the CIA to undercut the entire war effort and this administration.
That's what a lot of people think.
I happen to be one of them.
I happen to think you've got a child of the 60s here, Joe Wilson.
You've got his wife working on a weapons of mass destruction desk.
You've got you've got contributors to the Democratic Party, Al Gore and Americans coming together, his wife.
Joe Wilson's given money to Democrats, he somehow gets sent on this trip.
The CIA, as we know, is at war with Cheney anyway over his his uh his service previously as Secretary of Defense in the first Bush administration, uh going back in some cases even twenty years uh back to the uh back to the eighties, uh, when he was chief of staff uh uh in in various roles.
And so it it it this whole thing just smells.
The whole thing just smells.
It doesn't look to me like anybody at the White House, okay, let's find out who this guy is, and they found out.
Oh, okay, let's find out what his wife does.
Oh, that's what she does.
Let's ruin him.
I don't think that's what went on here because there aren't any indictments to that effect.
Now the investigation's ongoing because they're trying to nail Carl Rove.
And they're trying to nail Carl Rowe for the same stuff they've got Libby on.
Because it's apparent that Rove didn't leak anybody's name, uh, Valerie Plame or or otherwise.
So the press conference is at uh at two o'clock this afternoon.
Uh we'll carry it live.
It'll probably uh start a little bit late as these things tend to, but we will uh carry this whole thing live.
But that's that's basically how I sum this all up.
My questions still remain.
Who told Robert Novak?
And I hope that I hope we find this out someday.
I want to know if Wilson and Plain were called to testify before the grand jury.
I want to know if what they were asked.
I would love to know if they had to go up there and testify under oath or if they were just, you know, sources.
And for one more one more stab at this, since some of you libs may just have tuned in.
We had a liberal caller, very nice guy last hour, but he tried to catch me in an act of hypocrisy because he tried to make the case that I'm somehow saying this business in Libby is irrelevant.
And I've never said I don't care about perjury or obstruction of justice.
Just the opposite.
This guy said, You seem to think that it was horrible for Clinton to do it, even if it was about sex, and now you seem to want to let Libby skate.
Now, let me put this in perspective for you.
I do believe Bill Clinton should have been indicted.
And not over an email.
Let me give you the differences here between Scooter Libby and Carl Rove and Bill Clinton.
Bill Clinton prepared a false affidavit for Monica Lewinsky.
He had his lawyer introduced that into evidence.
He testified To its truthfulness.
Clinton lied himself under oath before the grand jury.
All of these are multiple acts of perjury.
They are multiple acts of conspiracy and contempt of court.
They were premeditated.
The Clinton administration sought from the various highest levels of government to obstruct justice.
These were central to the sexual harassment case that was going on with Paula Jones.
And Clinton never disputed any of these findings, even though he was given the opportunity to attend a hearing in court to dispute them and refute them, and he refused to take advantage of that.
At the same time this was going on, the White House had mounted a search and destroy mission against the independent counsel, Ken Starr.
They called him a sex-starved pervert.
They called him a political animal.
They tried to destroy him and his wife.
They did everything they could to destroy Ken Starr.
None of this has happened with cat with Patrick Fitzgerald.
Nobody has been out attacking this prosecutor.
The president has been.
There has been no coordinated White House effort to destroy the investigation or to cast doubt on it.
Quite the contrary.
The president's called this a dignified investigation.
If you Libs want to try to say there's some sort of similarity here, you're the ones that have something explaining to do because you're the ones who now want Libby sent up the road on conspiracy and perjury, and you wanted your guy, Bill Clinton, left alone.
You don't hear any people on my side saying, leave Libby alone.
You don't hear any on my side saying you didn't do anything wrong.
You guys all defended Clinton and you joined this effort to commit perjury and obstruction of justice along with Clinton, and then you go out and try to destroy Ken Starr in the process.
In this case, the underlying issue was whether Valerie Plain was covert and whether she was outed, thereby endangering her and national security.
The one indictment that we know about today doesn't even deal with any of this.
As I say, it doesn't appear that any crime was committed there, at least as we know now.
Back to Hillary Clinton, Robert Ray concluded that Hillary Clinton had lied repeatedly about her role in the travel office firings, decided not to charge, decided not to charge Bill Clinton because he was a highest official of government would be disruptive, thought it best to leave it alone.
Now, in the aftermath, Bill Clinton is the standard bearer, the favorite son of their party.
One of his number one contributors, uh well, the wife of one of his number one contributors gave four hundred and fifty thousand dollars to his library fund, Mark Rich, who now we learn through the oil for food program report last night was getting kickbacks from Saddam Hussein and the oil for food program Mark Rich as he was pardoned and after he was pardoned by Bill Clinton.
Hillary said to be a terrific senator, and Bill Clinton's travels the world as the greatest president, the first black president, and all this other rot gut.
Hillary Clinton concealed her Rose Law Firm billing records for two years in the private residence of the White House.
She didn't know how they got there.
Louis Libby didn't do any of what I have just described to you that went on in the Clinton White House.
So don't you left you liberals, I love you, but don't try calling here and saying there's hypocrisy.
If there's hypocrisy anywhere, and if you want to avoid it, you ought to be marching on Washington demanding no indictment of Lewis Libby, because what Libby has done pales in comparison to what Bill Clinton did as president of the United States.
Not to mention the sexual harassment, not to mention what he did with Monica Lewinsky, not to mention what he did with Juanita Broderick, not to mention what he did with Kathleen Willie.
And you wanted to defend all of it.
It was just sex.
He ran from the top of this government an obstruction of justice campaign that include perjury, suborning of perjury, having a lawyer knowingly submit a false affidavit.
Well, the lawyer didn't, but Clinton knew it was false.
Louis Libby didn't do any of this, and you didn't think that Bill Clinton should be charged.
The the demand for consistency actually is aimed at you people on the left.
Don't call here and tell me I'm being inconsistent.
You are the ones that continue, no matter what the issue, to have an indefensible position.
We'll be right back.
You know, as I watch CNN here today, they're actually giving life, real life to the term circle bleep.
Turn it on.
They're sitting around in a circle, and it is it is.
It's as close to Christmas morning as they were gonna get.
It's not what they wanted, but I mean they are they're just having the grandest old time.
What?
Yeah.
Fritzmas, I know, uh Fritzmas, but yeah, they all went out and they had their brand new suits and ties.
And they're all ready to go on television Wednesday night to pronounce the death of this administration, and uh they didn't get to break him out.
And now they've got this.
Uh and the best they can hope for is this has trails to the Oval Office.
Another thing, folks, let's not forget this.
During the Clinton years, the years of lying about so many things.
How many news stories do you recall we bringing to your attention here, talking about how lying was good?
Lying spared hurt feelings.
Sometimes lying was important in order to promote healthy relationships.
I wonder how long it'll be before we see any stories about how helpful lying is in the scooter Libby era.
Think we'll see any?
Aha.
Rochester, New York, this is Brian.
You are on Open Line Friday.
Hello.
Thank you, Rush.
How are you, sir?
Fine, sir.
I'm glad you called.
Thank you.
My pleasure.
Um I can only pray that uh that Libby takes a page directly out of the playbook of Tom Delay and plays this as a strongly as he can as an innocent man.
Um I think if he if he does defend himself and take this thing as far as the is the Democrats want to go with it, I believe this might be a dark day for the Democratic uh party.
They may have taken a tiger by the tail here.
I don't think in the end this is really what they wanted to have happen was to have a situation like this where they did not hit their mark.
In fact, they missed it, and uh and they they you know, for whatever they're gaining out of the uh indictment of Libby, um if this thing goes and is is uh shine the light of day on it, uh I think we're gonna uh we're gonna have an interesting situation, but again, it hinges on Libby taking that philosophy of Tom Delay and saying, hey, I'm an innocent man, I'll fight you to the mat on this thing.
What can you close it all?
There are there are a number of different ways you can fight something like this.
You've got the delay way uh uh you can do it.
I I don't I don't see that happening here, but I wouldn't mind it if it did.
Uh the interesting thing that you said is that uh it will ignite a fire storm out there.
I hope this does.
I I have a feeling that the base is going to be furious about this and already is.
After all this talk and after all these insinuations, after all these promises that we're gonna get Cheney indicted, we're gonna get Rove indicted, we're gonna this courageous CIA agent was outed, and all the first time the left has ever cared about CIA that I can remember.
All they got here is a guy on perjury and instruction of justice that has nothing to do with the central theme and reason for this investigation.
Speaking of delay, what's happening with that is is just outrageous.
Even after he's been indicted, there are now subpoenas come.
I mean, this this is just uh th this thing going on down in Texas is just a total miscarriage of prosecutorial zealousness, overzealousness, political motivation.
It is it's it's just classic.
The left cannot win at the ballot box, they're gonna try to throw every Republican they can't beat at the ballot box, get him thrown out of office via the uh the legal judicial system.
I mean, it's it's just to indict delay on no evidence.
There was no evidence to support that indictment.
They got the indictment.
Now they're running around subpoenaeing phone records and all kinds of things here.
Uh not of him, but of three of his associates and what this is all about.
And I'll guarantee you what's going to happen in this investigation.
They're trying to go out and find somebody to scare so that they'll flip against delay.
That's why they're subpoenaing all these friends and associates of his.
They want to bring them in and they want to use the full force of their badges to intimidate them during these subpoena interviews.
And they want to threaten them with all kinds of ruination, damnation, jail time, unless you tell us what we want to hear about Tom Delay.
They're trying to get somebody to flip, and that's what they've been trying to do with Carl Rove in this case.
They've been going to his neighborhood, and they've been talking to people in his neighborhood and other associates.
They've probably been subpoenaeing emails that he wrote to people.
Has he ever told you anything about Valerie Plame?
They're getting co-workers, I'm sure, from the White House.
They're trying to get somebody to flip.
And that's why there's no indictment of Rove, because they don't have anything yet.
But this clearly is an open investigation.
Rove's been told he's still under investigation.
Rove's lawyers and Rove will cooperate fully.
Well, no, no problem here cooperating with you.
But uh once once prosecutors get going, folks, there's nothing to stop them.
Delay hasn't stopped this guy.
Delay it, the the purpose, you know, if if Delay could, he would stop this guy.
He can't.
There's really nothing that can be done to stop the guy.
What Delay is trying to do is is uh cast as much doubt on this prosecutor, Ronnie Earl as possible, so that when they get to the trial phase and jury selection, he at least has a chance.
And that's why Delay is conducting this in public.
I don't think Scooter Libby is cut from that cloth and uh will engage in that.
Uh but make no mistake, once these guys get you in the crosshairs, they keep you there as long as they will.
You're listening to Rush Limbaugh on the excellence in podcasting network.
All right, let me give you another heads up here, folks.
Let me shoot you straight.
I don't care what you hear the media say, and I just spent a little time watching the forehead on CNN.
And the forehead saying, Don't talk to me about Bill Clinton.
That was lying about sex.
This is lying about going to war.
This is causing the death of American soldiers by lying to go to war.
We need congressional hearings into this.
They're not going to let go of this line, even though there's no evidence whatsoever in this investigation.
The Democrats all signed on to it.
It's silly.
But that's the line of the hair-brained kook left that has become the Democrat base, that this whole thing is about lying to the American people to go to war.
Don't forget, we've gone back and looked at the record.
Bill Clinton said the same thing about Saddam, and he was echoed by Democrats in the Senate as George Bush said before we went into Iraq.
We went back and chronicled uh Robert Kagan's story in which the uh New York Times and Washington Post all talked about weapons of mass destruction, all talked about the death of Saddam, the the deathly nature of Saddam Hussein back in 1998, 1999, uh weapons of mass destruction, all of that.
It's patently impossible.
Bush could have lied.
The media has to ignore its own record, they have to ignore Bill Clinton.
The idea that there was lying to get us into war here is patently absurd, and yet that continues to be the line they are taking.
And they are taking that line, and listen to me on this because they are devastated.
Don't believe it when they tell you they're happy with the Libby indictment.
Libby was not who they were gunning for.
They wanted Rove.
They don't have a Rove indictment today.
Libby does not get them to the president lying about this, and neither does Rolfe, but they wanted Rove.
They wanted Rove out of the White House because that's who they think is beating them.
And so they're going to continue to say that this is great, this is big, this in fact is Fitzmas.
They got their presence under the tree, and they're happy as they can be, but I'm telling you, and you you just believe me when I tell you, they are devastated.
They are disappointed, they are let down.
For three weeks it's been Rove and Libby with Rove being mentioned first.
Now today it's only Libby and not even indicted about the central theme of the case.
And more they keep talking about how this is a case it's ultimately about the president lying to get us into war, the more patently absurd they look because we've got the record that we can throw in their face, say, well, if Bush lied about it, so did Clinton, and so did the mainstream press.
Their only retort will be to say, well, Clinton didn't take us to war.
Are you still saying Clinton lied?
They've got nowhere to go on this, folks.
Once again, they've they've constructed a hopeful dream, just like Bill Burkett was going to take Bush out on the National Guard, just like Cindy Sheehan was going to take Bush out, just like the Jersey girls were gonna take him out, just like Richard Clark was now Scooter Libby and this special prosecutor are gonna take him out.
And they've uh they've managed again to uh avoid subs speaking of Cindy Sheehan, let's go to audio soundbite number nine, number nine and ten.
How many do we have here?
No, nine, ten and eleven, uh Aldemont.
This this is hilarious.
Just to show you how fast the Democrats drop you when you become worthless.
You remember back this this past summer, and going into the month of September, the celebrity in this country was Cindy Sheehan.
She was the face of the Democratic anti-war movement.
She was the face of the Democratic base.
She was the person we needed uh to run for office.
People like Cindy Sheehan.
Yesterday she showed up, I'm sorry it was this morning, at the National Press Club.
She spoke to a nearly empty room.
There were only a couple of foreign journalists there.
Zilch attendants, Nobody cared that Cindy Sheehan was speaking today.
She gave uh gave her opinion on possible indictments.
Uh and I guess she's as qualified as anybody else in the media to comment on this.
An unidentified foreign reporter, one of two or three in the room, said big news in Washington today is the grand jury finally reaching the conclusion of its term in the Wilson affair.
I was wondering how you analyze Dick Cheney's role in it.
I haven't I've been really busy, so I haven't got to like analyze a lot of things.
But I believe that the corruption goes um all the way to the top, and um that this is encouraging to me because I believe the investigations are going to continue, especially after the indictments, and that's all that we've been asking for for a long time.
These indictments I think are wonderful to be able to actually to expose the lies, expose these people for what they are.
Well, Cindy, the indictment today doesn't expose any lie about going to war, doesn't expose any lie about Valerie Plate, but at least outing her is not it has nothing to do with the central theme of the uh of the case.
Uh uh reporter from the French news agency, Jerome Bernhard says, uh uh Jerome Bernard from uh from uh AFP.
How do you expect to keep the momentum in the coming months for your movement?
What kinds of actions you're playing now?
Meanwhile, this question's asked with nobody in the room.
She has no momentum.
He's got this guy from the agency uh of the the French news agency and one other or two other reporters there, and that's it.
There's several major actions coming up um on November 2nd.
It's national.
Help me help me out here.
It's drive out the Bush regime.
The world can't rate wait.
It's a national um day of um I can't think this morning.
It's a national day of strikes.
Strikes and rallies and vigils.
What a joke.
And it's the first anniversary of the last election, and that's gonna and there's hundreds of events all over the country.
She doesn't even know what's coming up.
She doesn't know what's going on, she can't tell the dates, she has no clue what's happening.
This is the leader of the anti-war left who has just been cast aside and flicked away by the left as the useless creature that she is.
So the Italian news agency reporter Marco Bardazzi says, I want an update on your legal situation.
How many times have you been arrested and what kind of legal problems do you face now?
And second, are you concerned by the fact that it seems that you have much much less media coverage now than the past few weeks?
I don't ever want the media coverage to be on me.
I've only focused, I've only wanted to focus on being on the Iraq war.
And I believe that the media in our country really um also abrogated their responsibility to be checks and balances on our government, that our media sometimes only reports the press releases they get from the White House, and they don't do any investigative report reporting.
They don't ask the hard questions.
She knows she almost has a point, almost has a point here.
They really don't do any investigating, they just do a bunch of supposing.
They do a bunch of assuming and then they go out and cover their assumptions as though they're reality, and they set up their agenda and their cycle, and they look through the prismos.
This is the news today, and it turns out it's the news they hope happens.
That's literally what it's become.
Here's the news we hope to happen as though it is happening and as though it has happened.
And there she is at the National Press Club saying all of this, and she doesn't want media coverage.
She doesn't want the focus to be on her, and yet she's at the national press club.
Some people call this woman a moon bet.
Other people call her a dingbat.
She she's just she's a sad sack.
She's been totally used.
Her grief has been soaked up by a bunch of people who just want to use and exploit her.
And uh and and we see here that that uh uh she she's just out of her out of her league.
She doesn't even know what her next protests are and what they're about.
Uh thinks the media have constitutional checks and balance uh uh responsibilities and so forth.
But this, this, this is the this is the angel of the left, folks.
This is their guiding light.
Here's Canon Springfield, Missouri.
I'm glad you waited.
You're on open line Friday.
Hi.
Hey, giga digo's rush from a long time conservative listener.
Thank you, sir.
Hey, I want to know something, and it's gonna be a rhetorical question at first.
Why are we in Iraq fighting to defeat our enemies on their home turf?
Okay, it's a rhetorical question.
We all know the answer.
We're there fighting them so we don't have to fight them here.
Exactly.
So why don't we as conservatives fight the liberals where they are in the gutter?
If we want to defeat them, which is the purpose of us going to Iraq, why don't we go to where the Democrats, the Liberals are in the gutter to defeat them?
Amen.
Uh that's a great question.
I know the answer.
I know why we're not going to go to the gutters because we don't want to join them in the gutter because we're afraid we'll become what they are in the gutter.
But that's not what you actually do.
Why why don't we use their tactics?
Why don't we go at them the same way 'cause the aggressor sets the rules in these kinds of conflicts, so why don't we fire back?
And you know, I uh I've been chronicling this ever since I've been behind the golden EIB microphone.
It's just not the way the Republicans do it.
The Republicans don't even use the Justice Department the way uh the Liberals do.
The Republicans now Bill Clinton got away with what he got away with because he went on the offensive.
They didn't talk about the charges.
They made personal attacks about the people making the charges.
Right.
And that's what the Republicans don't do that.
They haven't done that in this case.
And what happened?
He got off.
Uh yeah.
The uh for whatever reason the prosecutors uh were afraid of uh you know what might be said about them.
I mean uh there's no question that this kind of uh kind of thing works.
But the bottom line here is uh can you can say Clinton got off, and of course the question is how many times a day, but I know what you mean by this.
Clinton got away with it.
But did he?
Bill Clinton has no reputation in this country.
His reputation is a myth in the Democratic Party.
Democratic Party thinks he's the greatest thing that ever walked the earth, but in the country his reputation is not what he hopes that he's still searching for a legacy.
If Bill Cl if Bill Clinton were that great, he wouldn't be still searching for a legacy.
He still has to go overseas to get standing room only applause, other than from paid Democrats going to fundraisers here in this country.
Yeah, we get all these stories.
Bill Clinton gets mobbed wherever he goes, but he gets mobbed by the people that already love him and already take him for what he is and accept it.
But in terms of of of Clinton having a you you think he wishes he he had a different reputation than he has?
I'll guarantee you he does.
He doesn't like being thought of as the chief horn dog.
He doesn't like being thought of as a rapist.
He doesn't like being thought of as sexual harasser and and uh and all of this, and he doesn't like it knowing what he did with Monica Lewis.
He doesn't like all these jokes.
He's a president of the United States.
He's desperately seeking stature.
Why do you think he's constantly seeking out the Bush family to hang around when it comes to things of substance?
Uh you know, so I it it's arguable uh when you say he got away with it legally, yeah, didn't serve any jail time.
He was found in contempt, and I'm sure I'm sure he's not uh happy about it.
For a moment, back right after this.
So the left continues to insist the president lied us into war.
I I hope somebody, when they hear this on these television shows, nukes this.
The kingdom come.
Here's here's the bottom line, folks.
There's not one thing in this twenty-two-page or twenty-four-page indictment that mentions anything about the outing of Valerie Plame.
This whole Libby indictment with five counts of perjury, obstruction, and lying to investigators, not one word about the outing of Valerie Plane.
Mike in Buffalo.
Hello, sir.
Thank you for waiting.
Mega, 14 year uh listener uh Ditto's rush.
Thank you.
Uh as a quick aside, I wrote you last year uh saying how much of a uh that picture you took in Time magazine was terrible, and uh as a subscriber to your website, I'm just glad you put different pictures up on your website.
You look uh a hundred times better than the hack tab they did on your photo.
But that's not what the reason why I called.
I called uh to talk to you about uh this whole indictment has really got me fired up as a conservative rather than being depressed.
I want to know if there's gonna be a scooter libby legal def legal defense fund that I can contribute to because as a conservative, that's one thing I want to do is to help this along.
I want to I want to say that uh I I really don't like what the Democrats are doing.
Uh it it's just as a it's yeah, basically it's the opposite of what I thought it was gonna be, or what they thought it was gonna be.
Well, I haven't I haven't I haven't heard anything about a uh uh scooter libby defense fund.
I don't I don't know if there will be one of those.
I that's that's for way down the road.
But I uh there are gonna be any number of things that that you can do, and and when you when you get right down to it, the uh one of the most important things you'll be doing is showing up at the ballot box next November.
Because that's where all this is aimed.
Uh that's what the Democrats are targeting here, and that's the best thing you and anybody else can do.
And if there's a defense fund, obviously you want to contribute to it, do so.
But that's another thing.
Hit Bill and Hillary Clinton defense fund, and they're out there collecting money for his library, for his defense fund, for Hillary's defense fund.
I mean, it was it was it was unseemly a president of the United States asking the American people to pay for his legal defense in this.
I the these are just I don't know, you think back to these years, and I keep watching the forehead is on CNN, and he keeps insisting that this is all about Bush lying us into war.
And somebody on that network has to know that Bill Clinton said the identical things in 1998 when the forehead was working for him.
And somebody on that network has to know that the press was reporting the very same things about weapons of mass destruction in 98-99 that they were reporting that Bush was saying before we went to war in Iraq in 2003, whenever it was.
Uh somebody's got to know this.
Well, even a guest on that network, they got it at some point they're gonna be a guest on this network that knows it.
And I'm I'm just telling you again that the reason why they keep this lineup is because that's what news has become.
The news is what they hope it will be.
So the news today is here's the news presented as a news, but it's not the news, it's what we hoped the news would be.
In this case, the news today is what we wished.
The news would have been, but it isn't.
They really wanted Rove today, and don't listen to him when they tell you, hey, this is great.
This gets us closer.
They are disappointed.
They had Rove and the crosshairs the last two weeks.
Rove was already convicted.
And by the way, folks, I know some of you are gonna think, well, Rush, this is obvious.
Why are you wasting time with this?
I just have to tell the people on the left, an indictment is simply a charge.
There is no conviction here.
That's all it is.
An indictment is there is no prison sentence that accompanies an indictment.
But you will not know that watching the indictment may this may be, it may as well be the jury has just found him guilty today, scooter Libby.
And then they're gonna say, and this goes right to the vice president, and we know that's where it's gonna lead.
Libby work for the vice president.
What did a vice president know when did he know it?
They're gonna just get prepared for all this.
Just trying to keep you from blowing gaskets here, folks, as you watch the news in the next couple of weeks.
Be back.
Stay with us.
In Rush Limbaugh's world, he's calling this Fitzmas.
That this is just uh it's like Christmas Day for the media, that the media can use this to impugn the the White House.
Uh note to Mistress.
Tell the whole story.
In Rush Limbaugh's world, what this is is an opportunity for you to present the news that you wish had happened.
Not the news that is happening, but the news that you wish it happened.
By the way, in addition, folks, to this indictment saying nothing about the outing of Valerie Plame, the indictment also says that she was classified, but does not say that she was covert.
Now why why why is that?
Why didn't Fitzgerald tell us that she was covert or not?
Says she was classified, but not covert.
Left a covert bit out.
Covert is sort of key here to the uh espionage act that this whole thing triggered this uh this whole investigation.
And apparently in the one indictment that we have so far, not one word about the outing of Valerie Plame.
Not one word about anything to do with Valerie Plame or Joe Wilson.
It's all about how Scooter Libby obstructed justice, lied to investigators, and committed perjury.
It's a uh five count uh indictment.
And don't forget, go back media, check yourselves in 1988, uh 1998-99, and check the Democrats and what they were saying about weapons of mass destruction.
If you want to perpetuate this myth that Bush lied to get us into war, then you spread lies in ninety-eight and ninety nine, as did Bill Clinton and his administration.
