RadixJournal - Richard Spencer - The Handman's Tale Aired: 2026-04-22 Duration: 06:23 === Faking Desire and Social Proof (02:44) === [00:00:00] There's just no there, there. [00:00:01] It's just like the pure superficiality. [00:00:04] And I think there's also that like social proof where, don't you feel like this? [00:00:11] And sorry, I know RFH is on here, but like I said this about Taylor Swift. [00:00:20] Insult the ladies once again. [00:00:22] This is not a good game in many ways, or maybe it is a great game. [00:00:25] I'm negging. [00:00:26] Who knows? [00:00:27] But I thought with Taylor Swift where it was like, It wasn't so much that anyone liked her music, it's that they wanted to like her music. [00:00:39] You have a desire for a desire, as Kozhev would say. [00:00:44] Like, it's not, how do I say this? [00:00:47] Like, it's not so much that when someone donates to charity or something, they give a thousand bucks to the food bank or to. [00:01:02] Toys for tots or after school programs. [00:01:06] It's not so much that they want to do that because they think it's effective. [00:01:12] And it's more that they want to be the type of person who wants to do, who does that type of thing. [00:01:20] It's a desire for a desire. [00:01:23] There's a lack, the desire is bracketed. [00:01:25] There's a lack of actual desire, but there's a desire to be the person who desires that. [00:01:32] And I feel like that is with Taylor Swift, where no one actually likes her music. [00:01:38] But it's this notion of a sort of healthy, though relatable, beautiful, but maybe not too beautiful woman as a pop star. [00:01:54] They want to desire her as an icon of whom they want to be. [00:02:03] And thus, no one actually thinks that those songs are good. [00:02:07] They're sort of faking themselves out. [00:02:10] I mean, I remember when I was playing, when I was on the football team in high school, we would run wind sprints after practice, which are very hard. [00:02:22] And we would run like 20, you know, like 40 yard wind sprints, just go. [00:02:28] And then you get like a 10 second breather at most and then go back. [00:02:32] And it is exhausting. [00:02:34] And I mean, A lot, some people do give up and some people like fake a cramp, or some people just can't do it. === The Fantasy of Fake Cramps (03:39) === [00:02:44] And I remember telling myself, I was sort of gaslighting myself. [00:02:49] I would say, one more, and then you're going to fake a cramp. [00:02:52] Just one more, and then you get to fake a cramp. [00:02:55] And you say that like after five, once you're a little bit winded, and then after 10, you're like, all right, just one more, and then fake a cramp. [00:03:02] And then once you get to like 17, you're like, all right, I don't need to even gaslight myself because we've done it. [00:03:07] What does three more even mean at this point? [00:03:10] And that's what I'm talking about. [00:03:12] Like, where we do those women, like, even looks maxed Clav, is he truly the most handsome man you've ever seen? [00:03:26] I don't think so, to be honest. [00:03:31] Certainly good looking. [00:03:32] Tom Cruise has the goods. [00:03:34] Brad Pitt has the goods. [00:03:35] Mel Gibson, at least back in the day, these are all my generation movie stars. [00:03:40] They had the goods. [00:03:41] I mean, no homo. [00:03:43] These men are damn handsome. [00:03:46] And they're charismatic. [00:03:48] It's hard not to like them when they're on screen. [00:03:51] Hassan Piker, certainly not. [00:03:54] What? [00:03:55] Hassan Piker, certainly not. [00:03:57] Oh, God. [00:03:58] Yeah. [00:04:00] But. [00:04:02] It's they have the goods and there's like a direct attraction to them. [00:04:08] You know, women want them and men want to be them. [00:04:12] There's a direct attraction with clavicular. [00:04:15] I'm not saying he's not handsome, but it's like the social proof. [00:04:19] Women go there and they are themselves performing their own desire. [00:04:26] I don't think they have an actual desire. [00:04:28] I think they've they they want to. [00:04:32] Depict themselves as the type of woman who is like that. [00:04:36] And I just think that that's happening. [00:04:41] You can't take away the streaming camera from that fantasy. [00:04:48] You know, there's like a difference. [00:04:50] And I don't know if you've ever had this fantasy yourselves, but I guess this is another way of describing what I'm getting at is that self awareness of the fantasy, a dream within a dream. [00:05:03] Like it's one thing to. [00:05:05] To have a fantasy of being like, and this is a male fantasy of like a knight in shining armor and you go rescue a princess or something like that. [00:05:13] It's one thing to have that fantasy, which is itself enveloped in film and books and pictures, things you've seen. [00:05:23] It's already sort of enveloped. [00:05:25] It's not the real fantasy. [00:05:27] The real fantasy is pure lust, but this one is articulated in a sort of scene. [00:05:33] But it's another thing to like, Imagine yourself in a movie. [00:05:39] You know, like you are the actor in a movie about the Middle Ages. [00:05:44] You've already added another layer of self awareness to the whole scene. [00:05:50] Or it's one thing to fantasize about fucking a porn star, but it's another thing to fantasize about being in a pornography film. [00:05:59] So you've already, the camera itself is kind of the super ego. [00:06:05] It's an awareness of the fact that it's not really real. [00:06:16] I've delved into Hegelian, Lacanian, Freudian psychology to explain Clav, but I hope you are understanding what I'm saying here.
