No, Virginia, There is No Abraham

Tucker Carlson’s insistence on DNA-proving a literal "Abraham" to validate Israel’s claims is dismissed as absurd, exposing either bad faith or ignorance. His selective logic—rejecting cultural identity for Jews but not others—contradicts even Mike Huckabee’s nuanced stance, which tied Jewish land rights to Torah adherence. Carlson’s evasive rhetoric, appealing to anti-Semites and Christian nationalists while denying bigotry, mirrors pandering, leaving his motives unclear: deliberate deception or cognitive instability. The episode underscores how his approach undermines serious debate on Zionism’s foundations. [Automatically generated summary]

Even Tucker Gets It Wrong 00:03:39
There is no Abraham.
There's no King Arthur.
I hate to tell everyone this.
There's no Santa Claus.
Okay.
So, like, this is just absurd what Tucker is demanding that you could take a DNA test because we've cracked the genome.
We haven't cracked the genome.
First off, there's so much we don't know, but whatever.
We've cracked the genome so we can find Abraham in someone's genome.
What in the Sam hell are you talking about?
This guy is either in bad faith or he is just a moron.
I just, I cannot stand Tucker Carlson.
These are just the worst ways of criticizing Israel imaginable.
In fact, I don't think I could dream up a worse way of criticizing Zionism than this nonsense that this man keeps promoting.
Yeah, I was going to say that every ancient civilization used God, their right from God, the conquest.
And since, you know, the Bible is the only true religion, we have to tiptoe around this and say, oh, what is a Jew?
Are Jews not just black Israelites in Atlanta?
You know, exactly, what is a Jew?
Because Tucker has to tiptoe around this because he believes in this exact thing.
Yeah.
So he thinks it's real, but other claims from other civilizations apparently are fake or something.
It's a theology that you yourself just explained.
And so I'm very confused as to why we don't do that.
If you believe the theology that you've just explained to me, would we do that all over the world?
This is the only country in the world that you've said has this covenant with God, that this people have a moral and legal right to the land.
What about people who convert to Judaism?
Would they have a right?
Well, you've just said there are converts to Judaism.
So you just told me they can make aliyah.
They may not have.
You've just told me that it doesn't matter.
You told me moments ago, trying to keep track, that it doesn't matter whether or not you believe in God or whether or not you practice Torah Judaism.
No, he didn't say that.
That is just a total misrepresentation.
Huckabee was very clear that it's both.
And it's kind of fuzzy, but it's both.
He clearly said that.
And Tucker just misrepresents him.
He's like, no, you told me that you can be an atheist, but still be a Jew.
He didn't say that.
And even someone like Herzl, who was a kind of atheist of a sort or agnostic or secular Jew or whatever, still obviously had a Jewish identity.
Or rabbinic Judaism, which is something else that I don't even know if we should, I don't even know what that means, but it doesn't matter whether you're, quote, a religious Jew or not.
What matters is that you are part of the Jewish people.
But don't Christians also believe this about Christianity?
Isn't this one of the, you know, like, even, I mean, Huckabee said this as well.
Even if you don't go to church every Sunday or you're not reading your Bible, a lot of people just resonate with Christianity.
You know, they celebrate Christmas.
They like the idea of Jesus.
They quote scripture on occasion, maybe unintentionally in many ways, because scripture is so the King James Bible is so embedded in our language.
Aren't they sort of Christian on some level?
Like, are you really unable to like do go beyond just like black and white thinking conservator?
Why Go Gobbledygook? 00:01:31
I just don't understand why Tucker doesn't just go like full on Kevin McDonald at this point.
And just like, it's obvious like what people like think that he is at this point.
Why don't you say like, okay, he's anti-Semitic, like just come out and say it.
Like, because he won't.
Why does he have to do this game of like, oh, I'm, I'm just asking questions about everything.
He won't ever do that because he's never had like a firm opinion on anything outside of the Iraq war when he was on MSNBC, I guess.
It is sort of ironic.
Like the one time where he spoke clearly was when he was a neocon operative because he wants to play this game where he's pandering to all of these audiences in the conservative movement.
So he's pandering to the anti-Semites on the online right.
He's pandering.
He loves Christian scientists.
Some of the nicest people I've ever met.
He's pandering to them.
He's pandering to Israelis.
He doesn't want to be called an anti-Semite.
That's crazy.
Oh, why are you calling me an it's just it just you turn yourself into gobbly gook if you're not willing to like just clearly state a position with clarity.
Is he just purely a charlatan?
Does he actually have any real beliefs about anything?
I don't know.
I mean, I do think he's a charlatan.
I don't think he's like a like a cynical operative who's like, oh, I'm going to lie today or something.
I think he's just a kind of hysterical, just mentally ill human being.
