Rudy Giuliani - The Rudy Giuliani Show: Wednesday, March 25, 2026 Aired: 2026-03-25 Duration: 56:42 === Nuclear Ambitions Shifted (14:43) === [00:01:39] Good evening. [00:01:40] This is Rudy Giuliani. [00:01:41] And of course, this is the Rudy. [00:01:43] Well, not of course. [00:01:45] That's pretty arrogant, of course. [00:01:50] This is the Rudy Giuliani show on Lindell TV. [00:01:58] And tonight, well, I have to tell you, I mean, I have to start by telling you something about the whole preparation of tonight's show. [00:02:09] Okay. [00:02:11] Make sure my American flag is just right. [00:02:14] Yes. [00:02:16] I mean, we are at war. [00:02:18] And I think we should remember that. [00:02:19] You know, I'm going to go over a lot of things tonight about how, about the contradictions here, there, and other places about this war. [00:02:36] Some people saying one thing, some people saying another, some people saying it's over and we've won it. [00:02:41] I'm taking the president and even the administration out of this. [00:02:45] I'm talking about all of us in the, all of us, the people, the citizens, right? [00:02:51] And there are a wide range of opinions that go from one of the greatest and quickest victories in a war ever in having achieved massive objectives to Iran is still fighting. [00:03:09] Iran is still killing. [00:03:11] Iran is still operating. [00:03:13] And here we are. [00:03:15] How many weeks into the war, Ted? [00:03:17] Four. [00:03:18] Four weeks into the war. [00:03:20] Ted, would you like to go back and take a look at how long Operation Desert Storm took, which was considered one of our greatest victories. [00:03:28] We also, by the way, used, I think, 500,000 troops. [00:03:33] And we had about 10 nations helping us. [00:03:36] And we invaded a country that, you know, we invaded a little teeny country. [00:03:46] Just get the number of days. [00:03:52] Well, we're 40 days. [00:03:54] It lasted 43 days. [00:03:56] Okay. [00:03:59] 38-day air campaign followed by a rapid 100-hour ground offensive that did in fact look great. [00:04:06] Are we talking about the first bush or the second bush? [00:04:08] The first. [00:04:09] Okay. [00:04:10] So that's so now, how many more days we have to go? [00:04:14] How many days are we into this? [00:04:15] So we're on day 26, I would put it. [00:04:19] Grand day 26. [00:04:20] And we haven't, and we haven't. [00:04:22] And in that period of time, what kind of casualties did we take? [00:04:26] 13. [00:04:27] 13 dead. [00:04:28] 13 dead. [00:04:31] That's where are we now? [00:04:32] We're at about 12, about seven, something like that. [00:04:38] You're talking about in the 90s, how many did we lose? [00:04:40] Yeah. [00:04:40] Oh, let me get that number. [00:04:41] Or 13 dead here. [00:04:43] That's what I thought. [00:04:44] I thought it was a lot more than 13 dead. [00:04:46] Because it was a ground campaign. [00:04:48] So it isn't fair to compare, but war is war. [00:04:54] Well, while you're doing that, 299. [00:04:58] 299 people dead. [00:05:00] 300 people dead. [00:05:02] And this is what? [00:05:04] 13 so far. [00:05:07] I guess it's going to be more. [00:05:09] I guess. [00:05:10] I guess. [00:05:10] But let's not hope that. [00:05:12] Let's not think that. [00:05:15] So it's very hard to describe exactly where we are now. [00:05:19] First, let's talk about, are we talking about the war or the diplomacy? [00:05:24] Because they seem to be almost two different things. [00:05:26] On the diplomacy front, the only movement that we can see this time, and this is a big movement is, we reiterated or and possibly added to, and we did add to, what is called the 15-point plan. [00:05:42] The 15-point plan is really the same plan that we presented to them back in March of last year, before any of this started, which they rejected. [00:05:57] It's almost the same. [00:06:00] It's dismantle your nuclear capabilities, never pursue nuclear weapons, no uranium enrichment, hand over the stockpile of uranium. [00:06:13] That's the stockpile we were talking about that we think is hidden in the area of Natan, so possibly at the new mountain that they're building. [00:06:24] Speaking of that, Iran must hand its stockpile to the IAEA, the International Atomic Energy Agency. [00:06:30] Natan's Isfahan and Fordo nuclear facilities must be demolished, done away with. [00:06:37] The IAEA must have full access at all times to their nuclear facilities or former nuclear facility. [00:06:43] They must abandon their regional proxy program. [00:06:47] That means they have to stop being a funder of terrorism. [00:06:51] And they were the world's leading funder of terrorism. [00:06:55] They must cease funding and directing, well, it's regional proxy paradigm, and it's directing and arming its proxies. [00:07:02] That's seven and eight. [00:07:04] Straight of Hamu is open is nine. [00:07:06] Ten is Iran missile program must be limited in both range and quantity. [00:07:12] And number 11, it must limit its use of missiles to self-defense. [00:07:16] Number 12, end of sanctions. [00:07:20] And number 13, the U.S. would assist with advancement of the civilian nuclear program. [00:07:25] We'd really actually take it over so that they couldn't take the civilian nuclear program and then behind our backs do the same thing they did before. [00:07:37] The removal of a snap back mechanism allowing for the automatic reimposition of sanctions if Iran fails to comply. [00:07:47] Now, Iran has made some demands. [00:07:49] Closure of all U.S. military bases, reparations, fees for the ships, end to Israel's strikes on Hezbollah. [00:07:59] Like, right. [00:08:01] Lifting of all sanctions, ability to keep its ballistic missile program. [00:08:05] So, as you can see, if this is correct, and there's no reason to believe that it's not correct, on the diplomatic front, we're not very, very close. [00:08:20] A couple of other, so Pakistan has offered to host diplomatic talks. [00:08:31] Iran's response, the last response that I noted from Iran was: they'll have talks when they have complete victory. [00:08:43] And Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif posted on Ags that Pakistan is ready to facilitate meaningful and conclusive talks. [00:08:55] That's interesting because nobody wants to do. [00:08:58] Well, we do. [00:08:59] The president said the U.S. is in negotiations right now, and that the participants included Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, Marco Rubio, and Vice President JD Vance. [00:09:15] But Mohammed Baja Khaliba, the speaker of the parliament, denied that there are any direct talks. [00:09:27] So I think we take from all of that that there are talks at a minimum going through Pakistan in which these things are being put out. [00:09:44] And then so far, not really getting very far. [00:09:53] But they're going to continue on that front. [00:10:01] Meanwhile, well, I guess we also should say the president last night, and he hasn't gone too much further, said that the U.S. got a very big present worth a lot of money. [00:10:18] The hints do we have it is not nuclear related. [00:10:21] In other words, it wasn't that they've given up their nuclear ambitions or their nuclear material. [00:10:28] It's oil and gas related, and it's connected to the Strait of Hormuz. [00:10:33] It sounds like they have agreed to some kind of package for the Strait of Hormuz, some kind of package for the Strait of Hormuz. [00:10:43] Most analysts think it's easing or ending interference in the strait and allowing universal passage. [00:10:55] Now, they are allowing some movement through the Strait of Hormuz. [00:10:59] Whether it's happening or not, I think everybody's afraid. [00:11:03] In fact, they will let anyone go through who is not a combatant or a United States, Israel is not allowed, and then I guess anyone too heavily involved with us. [00:11:19] So there's been no specifics beyond that. [00:11:27] The airstrikes today, if I may show you, the airstrikes today, Tehran was hit, missile production sites were hit in Tehran. [00:11:48] Ishfahan, defense and optics facilities were taken out. [00:11:53] And there were additional strikes in Bandar Abbas, Shiraz, Yazd, and Karaj. [00:12:03] It included ballistic missile launch sites were taken out, several weapons factory, and naval and submarine RD centers that allowed them to direct their submarines. [00:12:19] Now, if this might, let's see if this will help you, if we can get this on here. [00:12:33] This might help a bit. [00:12:38] If you see it, those are where the strikes took place. [00:12:43] You'll see there were, if we go down to Charge Island down there, you'll see there were three near there and a very big one to the east of it. [00:12:56] Then you see multiple hits on Ishfahan, which is a nuclear storage facility. [00:13:04] Also, defense and optic facilities are created there. [00:13:09] You see right above it the famous Natans. [00:13:12] Now that's where, and then you see that area moving off a little bit to the left of Natans and going up toward Tehran. [00:13:24] That's where the places that we were describing last night, where they may be digging the super 300 feet below. [00:13:41] We'll have to take a look exactly how far below, but that's where they're building the new deeper receptacle for nuclear material. [00:13:54] Natans, Ishfahan both hit today. [00:13:58] Majority of hits all around Tehran. [00:14:01] Missile production sites there, but also there, not that it's listed in the notes that were put out. [00:14:11] That's got to be personnel. [00:14:14] That's got to be taken out. [00:14:16] IRGC, Comes Force, the militia, leadership of whatever is left of the government. [00:14:28] Some of the others that you see are ballistic launch sites and weapons factories. [00:14:37] And the Bushir nuclear complex was taken out completely. [00:14:43] Now we'll see if we can find that. [00:14:44] The Bushir, let's see if we can find Bushir here. [00:14:50] There it is. [00:14:51] Bushir is, you see Iran right in the center. [00:14:56] Go down and you see Shiraz. [00:14:58] There's Bushir. [00:15:00] That is a, that is probably, and too bad we don't have Ali Reza on tonight because MEK is expert on all of these. [00:15:11] But I think I remember this one. [00:15:13] This is one that this is a pretty new facility. [00:15:18] So if you look at the map, you'll see that the major facilities are all south of Tehran. [00:15:29] You see Ford there, Ishfahan. [00:15:32] If the map wasn't so crowded, you'd see Natance there in between Ford and Ishfahan. [00:15:37] That's when they started. [00:15:38] That's when they were first caught in 2002 by MEK. [00:15:41] That's where the facilities were. [00:15:43] But over the years, they have a big country, and it doesn't make sense to have it all in one place. [00:15:50] They've moved them. [00:15:52] They've moved them to other places. [00:15:56] Other places, for example, closer to the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and of course, Saudi Arabia. [00:16:07] Bushir, again, if you go down for it, it says Iran in the middle right there. [00:16:12] Go straight down, you see Shiraz, you see Bushir. [00:16:16] That was a major nuclear complex. [00:16:21] Maybe not finished yet. === Military Strikes on Coast (09:51) === [00:16:23] Well, it's finished now. [00:16:26] It looks like major strikes there and right on the coast. [00:16:31] Notice all of the hits along the coast of Hormuz. [00:16:41] You see the entire coast is hit. [00:16:47] Now, what are those? [00:16:50] Those are guns, missile launchers, and other things that are intended to shoot down ships going through the Strait of Hormuz. [00:17:00] And it looks like it's being leveled. [00:17:06] I mean, you can see that happens all the way coming down the Persian Gulf. [00:17:15] Start up where it says Kuwait, and then just follow it all the way down. [00:17:20] And so we have a ceasefire. [00:17:24] That's the ceasefire. [00:17:26] That's quite a ceasefire. [00:17:31] There's the whole region now that you get a better look at it, but that's the entire region. [00:17:38] That's without taking a look at the hits. [00:17:42] These are the operational plants that are part of the water supply that have been taken out, which was done. [00:17:55] These are hits done by Iran on Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, across from the Strait of Hormuz, a little hit in Oman. [00:18:12] Notice they kind of leave Oman alone. [00:18:15] And then a couple on the far west side of Saudi Arabia, and then some in Israel, only three in Israel. [00:18:23] Now, look at the number. [00:18:24] If we take a look at this, look at the number of hits done on the Arab countries in comparison to Israel. [00:18:32] Looks like three or four hits on Israel. [00:18:38] It looks like about 20 on the Arab countries. [00:18:40] Now, these hits are, if the lying Democrats have any argument that it would be a war crime for us to take out Iran's energy facilities, they're taking out the water. [00:18:59] It's the same thing. [00:19:03] The rules of war, international law, whatever the hell you want to call it, says that you can't starve or freeze or overheat a civilian population. [00:19:17] Well, you can't let them die of thirst either, right? [00:19:22] Which is what they're attempting to do by taking out the water supply. [00:19:26] But here's the argument for energy. [00:19:29] The energy is also being used to do all that. [00:19:34] So how do you win your war if you don't take out the energy? [00:19:37] So the whole thing is ridiculous. [00:19:39] And once they start doing it, don't you have to respond basically in kind. [00:19:45] So, there you see that this is going on all over. [00:19:51] So, in Bahrain, for example, a country that I visited a few years ago with a king who is just the greatest guy, I'll tell you. [00:20:00] And also, a country that has already had a Jewish woman, I believe it was a woman, who was the representative to the United Nations and a Jewish minister in their government. [00:20:12] Bahrain is a very, very Bahrain has a very nice government, and it's horribly tortured and persecuted by Iran and taking a disproportionate amount of attack for a country that has no sizable Air Force or Navy. [00:20:37] So, the Bahrain attack killed a UAE security member. [00:20:42] So, the Emirates were supplying security for Bahrain, for their ally, Bahrain. [00:20:49] And one of their security people was killed in the attack today. [00:20:56] In Saudi Arabia, the drones that were headed for Riyadh were intercepted. [00:21:07] And so, today, there were 80 U.S. Israeli strikes, 32 Iranian strikes, 67 locations hit inside Iran, and 24 locations hit across nine countries. [00:21:28] So, that's I think that will give you a sense of it was a very, very U.S. and Israel hitting Iran's military and missile and industrial capacity. [00:21:45] Iran responding with missile drone across the region. [00:21:49] War is very active in Israel, Iraq, the Gulf countries, potentially beyond. [00:21:57] So there's a lot of talk about diplomacy, but all the action seems to be military. [00:22:10] So the reality is that the diplomacy is taking a backseat to the war itself. [00:22:22] And we don't really know what to make of the diplomacy when you add all of this activity that we're showing. [00:22:29] And in addition to that, in addition to this activity, we have more troops going to the Middle East, particularly the paratroopers, the airborne division. [00:22:41] Now, that isn't just paratroopers, those are really a form of special services. [00:22:52] These are very multi-faceted, skilled warriors. [00:22:58] I thought I read 3,000 of them. [00:23:01] They jump out of the sky. [00:23:04] You have Marines there. [00:23:07] They land amphibiously. [00:23:11] What does that look like? [00:23:13] Why do you need people coming out of the sky and people coming up on the shore? [00:23:20] Sounds like you're going to attack an island, doesn't it? [00:23:24] Gee, I wonder what island. [00:23:30] Oh, gosh. [00:23:32] Should I take a break while you think about that? [00:23:35] We have some video of the paratroopers that's well, let's show them the paratroopers. [00:23:40] 1G1. [00:23:44] There it is. [00:23:48] Now, when we're looking at these paratroopers, where are they landing? [00:23:51] That's his b-roll. [00:23:53] Oh, okay. [00:23:53] This is just a possibly maneuvers. [00:23:59] And then, you know, President Trump, did you talk about his comments? [00:24:04] Did we put up the article from 1988? [00:24:06] No, we did not. [00:24:08] Let's put up the article about how his interest in Charge Island is decades old. [00:24:19] That's right. [00:24:19] That's the article, and there's a specific line if you can play the next, show them. [00:24:25] There it is. [00:24:25] That's what you said in 1988. [00:24:29] I'd be harsh on Iran. [00:24:31] They've been beating us psychologically, making us look like a bunch of fools. [00:24:35] One bullet shot at one of our men or ships, and I do a number on Charge Island. [00:24:40] I'd go in and take it. [00:24:42] Iran can't even beat Iraq, yet they push the United States around. [00:24:46] It'd be good for the world to take them on. [00:24:51] I think he was thinking about this for a while. [00:24:53] Yeah. [00:24:54] And you think he knows the region? [00:24:57] How many people back in 1988 knew what the hell Charge Island was? [00:25:05] That is a remarkable, that's a remarkable, a remarkable quote. [00:25:13] One bullet shot at one of our men or ships, and I do a number on Charge Island. [00:25:17] I'd go in and take it. [00:25:21] Which is, of course, what's going on in this debate about is he, is all this discussion that he's having about diplomacy and how good it's going and how well it's going, is it a cover to make sure we have everybody there so we can do it right? [00:25:40] So there are a lot of people on both sides who think that, including the Iranians who, you know, aren't that dumb because he's done it to them twice before. [00:25:51] And they publicly say now that they're not negotiating because every time they negotiate, they get attacked. [00:26:00] Of course, they don't negotiate, which is another problem. [00:26:05] So we're going to take a short break and we'll be right back. === Liver Health Formula Break (03:27) === [00:26:14] If you want to drop extra pounds, boost energy levels and reduce swelling in your legs and feet, then this message is for you. [00:31:06] One of those is Michael Goodwin. [00:31:10] I'll save the next one as a surprise. [00:31:12] Michael Goodwin today wrote a column that you should read in TOTO, but there's part of it that I really want to bring alive for you. [00:31:24] He begins by saying, when the term Trump derangement syndrome was coined, the words carried a hint of Gallows' humor. [00:31:32] And they did. [00:31:32] We thought it was kind of funny. [00:31:36] I thought of seeing if I could get Fauci to approve a medicine for it that I could sell and become a billionaire. [00:31:45] But as time passed and insane behavior by the president's opponent became wildly embedded in key people and institutions, any whiff of humor faded into history, especially during a time of war with a deadly fanatical enemy and irrational hatred of our commander-in-chief by powerful Americans is not a laughing matter. [00:32:15] So he uses the example of Chuck Schumer's appearance on Joe Scarborough's show on I'm still not used to this MSNBC MS Now. [00:32:33] Is this because they have even less viewers or do they have more viewers or does anybody know what it is? [00:32:38] But in any event, let's let Schumer and let's take a look at whether Michael, what Michael is talking about here, about how Schumer has gotten to the point with Trump derangement syndrome that he's gotten insane and unpatriotic and has forgotten that there's a country, that there are people at risk, and there's a war going on. [00:33:05] So listen, let's listen, let's listen to this because it's really rather revealing. [00:33:10] Deep. [00:33:10] And Iran sees that they have real leverage here. [00:33:14] That is harder and harder. [00:33:14] All right, so Senator, we ought to hear how we ought to get it. [00:33:16] No, no, no, hold a second. [00:33:18] You got to answer my question first. [00:33:20] Is it a good thing that Iran, and I think you would agree with me, epicenter of terrorism in the world since 1979, is it good that their military infrastructure is being degraded to the degree that it is, yes or no? [00:33:32] You can't because it's a premature question. [00:33:34] What is going to happen in the next several months? [00:33:36] No, no, I can ask that question. [00:33:38] I've said that. [00:33:39] No, no, no. [00:33:40] I can't. [00:33:40] So you have a military side, but I can show you my chart, but I think it threw it away. [00:33:45] You have the military side, you have the political side. [00:33:47] I'm simply asking on the military side, is it good, regardless of whether we agree with going in or not, is it good that Iran's military infrastructure has been seriously affected by the USA? [00:34:00] And again, I have to tell you, Joe, first, you can't, what's going to happen three months from now? [00:34:07] Is it worth it? [00:34:08] What's going to happen? [00:34:09] Will the world economy collapse? [00:34:11] Will something happen even worse? [00:34:14] Will the whole energy infrastructure of the world go up in smoke? [00:34:18] So you have to, when they do it without planning, when they do it without understanding where they're going. [00:34:25] Senator, Senator, where they're going, I don't think it's fair. [00:34:28] It's a trick question because if you do not strategize the consequences of the action, the military action, if you obliterate and do all these things, but you don't actually play out in your minds and have strategy for the consequences. [00:34:46] Let me answer the question for everybody in America. [00:34:48] The answer, yes. [00:34:49] It's good that the terrorist regime. [00:34:54] Thank you, Joe. [00:34:56] Despite my criticism of you, and I'm sure you've leveled some pretty nasty ones about me, you're still an American. [00:35:04] Of course it's better that our terrorist regime is degraded. [00:35:10] Didn't he sound like a bumbling fool? [00:35:12] Now, Chuck Schumer is anything but a fool. [00:35:16] He may be a traitor to his own people, the Jewish people. [00:35:20] He may be a terribly dissembling and a guy. [00:35:24] Who knows what his ethics are in fundraising? [00:35:27] A lot of questions about that. [00:35:29] But he's not a fool, and he sounded like one. [00:35:34] And he sounded like to hurt Trump, he'd hurt America. [00:35:41] How can you not applaud the taking out of one of the worst mass murderers on earth who specialized in killing his own people, but also Americans? [00:35:58] Well, very similarly, now, this guy is a really bad guy. [00:36:07] He was one of the main top spies who lied, maybe the leader of the pack. [00:36:16] I would probably think he was one of the worst actors in the Obama administration by far. [00:36:32] And one of the worst actors in terms of trying to frame Donald Trump for a crime he didn't commit. [00:36:39] But let's listen to this. [00:36:42] And the answer that he gives, and boy, there's a lot to this answer that I'm going to suggest to you. [00:36:49] There's a lot I can't even tell you, but I'm going to tell you a little of it. [00:36:52] Let's listen to it. [00:36:52] This is Brennan, maybe one of the worst people to work for America in the last 30 or 40 years. [00:36:59] Of Iran. [00:37:00] Like, they are an authoritarian regime who's known to lie. [00:37:04] But, like, I'm confused. [00:37:07] What is going on? [00:37:07] Help me. [00:37:08] Calm me down. [00:37:08] Well, I tend to believe Iran more than I do. [00:37:11] That's crazy. [00:37:11] Because he could not acknowledge the truth, even when it is, he's slapped in the face with it repeatedly. [00:37:18] And it's clear that, you know, he is flailing right now. [00:37:21] He's trying to figure out how he's going to get out of this debacle that he has created. [00:37:24] And so he's going to make these claims about negotiations that the Iranians now are sending signals that they really want to make a deal and indicates that they're going to make a deal on our terms. [00:37:34] I don't think anything close to the truth in that statement. [00:37:38] They may be talking to people indirectly, and we know that the Turks and the Egyptians are trying to find some way to mediate this problem. [00:37:48] So there could be some members, you know, distant members of parliament that are out there that are speaking individually. [00:37:53] But I don't believe there's anybody speaking authoritatively right now on behalf of the Iranian government with the Trump administration. [00:37:59] The discussions took place yesterday, they went into yesterday evening. [00:38:03] That's what the president said, Michael Steele. [00:38:06] So he basically believes Iran, but not the president. [00:38:11] Well, I don't find that Schumer, Schumer had to work really hard at that because he knows he's lying and he's dissembling. [00:38:25] I can't be sure this guy wasn't working for Iran when he was with Obama. [00:38:30] He must have known about Obama sending cash to terrorists. [00:38:34] If he did and he accommodated it in any way, he really, I mean, he really should be in the penitentiary, not on. [00:38:42] In fact, most of the people they put on that network should be in the penitentiary for what they did to Trump. [00:38:47] Absolutely. [00:38:48] Or to me, or to lots of others. [00:38:52] I mean, it's really, it's really outrageous. [00:38:57] So I think what we're going to do is that when we go to exit eight, we'll cover the rest of Iran so that we get the latest in and also do an analysis then of how do we evaluate all of these U.S. position, [00:39:24] where there seems to be two U.S. positions at least, right? [00:39:29] And then both Europe and the Arab countries that in some ways want to help and in some ways want to stop it and some do and some don't. [00:39:38] Let's see if we can make some sense out of it. [00:39:40] We'll do that at eight. [00:39:42] But there are a whole bunch of other things we've got to cover. [00:39:45] So you have the knowledge you need to wade your way through this very, very difficult period of time. [00:39:58] accident that occurred at LaGuardia Airport. [00:40:02] There has been a preliminary report by investigators. [00:40:07] Now, let's take this with a bit of a grain of salt. [00:40:10] They've only had a few days. [00:40:12] So this is more 360 degree look at the things that are the most obvious. [00:40:22] The first thing they say is this is multiple failure. [00:40:27] This is not just one single air traffic control error. [00:40:33] And that has to be correct because as I pointed out last night, and I'm sure there are about seven or eight others here, the tower was telling the fire vehicle to stop. [00:40:52] Second, someone has to explain how the people in the fire vehicle didn't see the plane. [00:40:59] The plane is pretty big. [00:41:02] You see, the visibility isn't terrible. [00:41:08] You should be able to see a plane coming real near you. [00:41:11] Now, it is quite possible, but not for sure, that the pilots of the plane weren't able to see the fire vehicle given there being elevated and the fire vehicle possibly being close enough to them so it was below their line of sight. [00:41:33] Although when you listen to it carefully, it sounds like the fire vehicle entered the area far enough away so that peripheral vision should have picked it up. [00:41:49] I'm talking about the pilot. [00:41:51] But that's not for certain. [00:41:54] What is for certain is that they were warned to stop and they should have been able to see, I'm talking about the people, the guy driving the fire vehicle, they should have been able to see the airplane. [00:42:13] Now, maybe they couldn't. [00:42:14] We're going to need an explanation of that. [00:42:15] They don't bother to give that. [00:42:17] But I assume that's what they mean by it isn't just an air traffic control issue. [00:42:23] It's a multiple issue. [00:42:27] Now, the author of this article about the crash makes maybe the most important point made that personally I have a great deal of experience with. [00:42:46] The real problem, overriding problem that where we have to just feel lucky there isn't a lot more of these, is our airports are beyond capacity. [00:43:01] They're overloaded. [00:43:04] They're taking on more flights than they can responsibly handle in most of the metropolitan areas. [00:43:12] Remember the beginning of the administration, was it the beginning? [00:43:17] I think it was. [00:43:18] Yeah, but at the beginning of the administration, when the military plane got off course and flew into the landing pattern at Ronald Reagan Airport. [00:43:30] Well, there's a lot of, again, a lot of reasons for that. [00:43:36] But one of the reasons is that that area is very, very crowded with airplanes taking off, landing. [00:43:45] Not as bad as New York. [00:43:46] Now, New York is New York is on a constant, it's in a constant program, like an emergency program, because you have three of the 50 largest airports in America within 20 miles of each other. [00:44:11] You've got LaGuardia, which is the closest to New York City. [00:44:16] Then when you go just about eight or 10 miles further out on Long Island to the border of New York and NASA, you have the John F. Kennedy Airport, which is one of the largest in the country. [00:44:29] LaGuardia, largely used for domestic flights, except to Canada. [00:44:34] And Kennedy, used for domestic flights, but really used for international flights. [00:44:39] And then maybe 20 miles, 20 miles or so away, going down into New Jersey is Newark Airport, which is in the top 50, I believe, and a very crowded airport and one that does both domestic and international flights. [00:44:59] Not far away in that same zone, in fact, closer to LaGuardia than Newark, and almost, or if not as close as Kennedy, is a private airport called Teterboro, which, as you might imagine, in a place like New York is a pretty heavily used airport. [00:45:20] A lot of private flights come in and out of New York. === Port Authority Cash Favors (04:57) === [00:45:23] You've got tremendous number of large corporations, events, people with great wealth. [00:45:32] It's an airport that probably is one of the most utilized private airports in the country. [00:45:41] New York has attempted to expand the runways, done all kinds of things. [00:45:48] In my view, they haven't done anything close to a good job. [00:45:53] When I was mayor, I was enormously critical of the airports and the airports in New York, although the property is owned by the city of New York or was owned, I don't know if we gave it away, and New York has leased it out to the Port Authority. [00:46:11] They're run by the governors of New York and New Jersey, and they're run as a source of cash for them for political favors. [00:46:21] And they rob the money from the airports. [00:46:24] Both governors. [00:46:25] And this is all the governors that have existed. [00:46:29] In fact, they all say they're going to fix it, Port Authority, and they're going to turn it back. [00:46:33] And when they get there, their political people say, you don't want to give it up. [00:46:36] There's a lot of money there for you that can be used without having to go to the legislature. [00:46:42] Here's what I'm saying. [00:46:44] Those airports run under profit, gigantic profit, even run poorly by Port Authority. [00:46:53] Run the right way, they probably make double the profit, but they make, they used to make 90, 100 million a year. [00:47:01] They end up breaking even. [00:47:04] You say, well, do they put that money in the airport? [00:47:06] Well, no. [00:47:07] They put that money into things that will help both governors politically. [00:47:11] Biggest one being they keep the fares well below market For both the train, for the tolls, for they just finance everything. [00:47:25] Then they take a whole chunk of it and they use it for pork. [00:47:30] They use it for building parks, building buildings like the World Trade Center and acting like they're real estate magnets. [00:47:41] Also, a building that was built horribly because it was built by the government. [00:47:48] You can read all about that in a lot of the reports done about it. [00:47:54] When I was mayor, I had gotten a I had actually put it out that I would not renew, that I would not renew the lease to the Port Authority when they came up for Kennedy, LaGuardia, take them back and put them out for bid. [00:48:19] And Mike Bloomberg didn't carry through on that, largely because of pressure from the Democrats in the state legislature. [00:48:29] And I think his hope that he was going to get a piece of Manhattan for an Olympic stadium. [00:48:36] And I don't know if he would tell you this, but I do believe he was double-crossed by Shelley Silver, who probably was one of the biggest thieves. [00:48:45] No, it couldn't be. [00:48:46] The Democrat Party has had worse thieves than him, but he ended up his life in the penitentiary. [00:48:51] He was the speaker of the New York Assembly for many, many years and was the bane of George Pataki's existence. [00:49:01] George would have accomplished a lot more, and he accomplished a lot, but he'd accomplished a lot more if he had had an honest, decent speaker. [00:49:11] Instead, he had a scoundrel of the worst kind. [00:49:14] On the other hand, I had a wonderful man as speaker of the New York City Council, Peter Vallone, a daily communicant of the Roman Catholic Church and a Democrat and a true Democrat in the old-fashioned spirit with whom I could negotiate. [00:49:30] And that's why the city, that's why we did miracles in the city. [00:49:35] I didn't do it alone. [00:49:36] I never claimed to have done it alone, my goodness. [00:49:43] Way back, way before I was mayor, back in 1965, when someone named Nelson Rockefeller was the governor of New York, he proposed an airport on Calverton, Long Island. [00:50:01] I don't know what happened to it. [00:50:03] There is an airport a little beyond Calverton now, which I should have mentioned. [00:50:08] I mean, it does add to the traffic because it's about 80 miles from, well, no, it's not 80 miles from Kennedy. [00:50:17] It's probably about 50 miles from Kennedy. === Islip Airport Traffic (06:21) === [00:50:20] That's Islip Airport. [00:50:22] But it's a small airport. [00:50:24] It does have, I mean, there are, I'm in Palm Beach today, and there's a direct flight. [00:50:29] There used to be a direct flight. [00:50:30] I think it still exists from Palm Beach to Islip on Southwest Airlines. [00:50:35] So it has a small footprint. [00:50:41] But if you'd like to look, I can show you. [00:50:46] I can show you the map. [00:50:48] There's the map. [00:50:49] You see it? [00:50:50] Did they have it? [00:50:51] Okay, I'm going to show you where these airports are. [00:50:54] Or I'm going to try. [00:50:59] So Newark is right there. [00:51:03] See it? [00:51:04] Right there? [00:51:04] Okay. [00:51:06] And LaGuardia, LaGuardia is over here. [00:51:14] Let's see if we can find. [00:51:15] Well, there's Kennedy. [00:51:20] Oh, Guardia is here. [00:51:28] The other one. [00:51:29] Yeah. [00:51:31] That's the little one. [00:51:33] Now, let's go out here. [00:51:35] This is Long Island. [00:51:37] From the point where Long Island begins, which is right there, that's Brooklyn, right? [00:51:43] to the point where Long Island ends, which is out there, that's Pontogue Point, is 120 miles. [00:51:50] On Long Island are four counties of New York. [00:51:54] Very confusing for people. [00:51:56] Brooklyn, first one. [00:52:00] Queens, second one. [00:52:04] Nassau, third one. [00:52:07] And Suffolk, the big one. [00:52:09] Okay. [00:52:11] All of them with populations over a million. [00:52:14] Pushing two. [00:52:16] Two, four, six, eight, about eight million people live there. [00:52:20] Now, two of those boroughs, Queens and Queens and Brooklyn, are part of New York City, which includes Staten Island, which you can't see on this map, it's so small, Manhattan, and the Bronx. [00:52:41] That's the city of New York. [00:52:43] Five counties of the state of New York. [00:52:45] So it really isn't a city. [00:52:48] It's a confederation, isn't it? [00:52:50] It's really a confederation of counties of counties. [00:52:55] Now, if you want to see where this airport is, this airport is, well, we're going to go to a different, we're going to go to a different map right here. [00:53:09] Go to this map right here, and you'll be able to see this airport. [00:53:14] It's right there. [00:53:19] That is Calverton Airport. [00:53:23] It's about a little more than halfway out on the island. [00:53:28] So it's probably about 60 miles out from the beginning of the island. [00:53:35] It's about 35 to 40 miles from Kennedy. [00:53:42] And that's an executive airport now, Calverton Airport, right there. [00:53:48] That's an executive airport. [00:53:50] Can they see that? [00:53:54] Yes. [00:53:54] Okay, that's Calverton Airport. [00:53:57] Very, very close, however. [00:53:58] So now maybe it would have to be done there. [00:54:01] It also would give it a little more distance from Kennedy, because again, this is very close to Kennedy. [00:54:11] So the Francis S. Gabrisky Airport is a private airport. [00:54:19] This is like the Teterboro for the Hamptons. [00:54:24] There's also one in East Hampton. [00:54:26] It's a very small airport. [00:54:28] You also could come back and you could do it. [00:54:32] You could do it. [00:54:34] Well, this would be too close. [00:54:36] I was thinking of the Isle of Airport, but that would be in here. [00:54:41] That would be too close. [00:54:43] So it would seem to me that Calverton is still available. [00:54:47] The Gabrisky Airport is still available. [00:54:51] Although this has become, this has become a very, very populated community. [00:54:56] So you'd have some real, real trouble getting it done. [00:55:01] Could you do it in Calverton? [00:55:05] Now, again, it's very, very, Back in 1965, this county probably was lucky to have less than a million people. [00:55:16] It now has 2 million. [00:55:20] Well, you're going to have to do it somewhere on Long Island. [00:55:24] So you need another airport, or this is just going to continue. [00:55:28] It's not going to be solved by air traffic control. [00:55:31] It's not going to be solved by magic. [00:55:33] If there were too many planes taking off and landing, you're waiting for a much worse accident than the one we had yesterday or the day before yesterday. [00:55:48] Much worse. [00:55:51] I expected it every day that I was mayor. [00:55:55] The worst crash, I had two crashes when I was mayor, but they both came out of Kennedy Airport. [00:56:06] Well, we're going to go over to X, and we're going to try to make some predictions and some analysis and help guide you through what is in fact confusing. [00:56:21] I have to say that this morning when I read the newspapers, as I do every morning, and I read a lot of the international ones this morning, I was completely confused. [00:56:31] I've been working on my confusion all day, and I'll give you the benefit of it. [00:56:35] I'll give you the benefit of it in 10 minutes on X. [00:56:39] But God bless America.
