QAA - Premium Episode 61: Reality As A Simulation Aired: 2020-02-05 Duration: 06:04 === Four Kids, One Missing? (02:26) === [00:00:00] The first story is posted by ForTheWeirdStuff, one year ago. [00:00:04] The title is, Where Is My Kid? [00:00:06] I have four kids. [00:00:08] I know I have four kids. [00:00:10] But recently, I just feel like there should be another one. [00:00:12] But it's missing. [00:00:14] When we go out, I head count- What the fuck?! [00:00:18] Oh Oh [00:00:22] What the fuck? [00:00:23] Oh. [00:00:24] Oh! [00:00:24] Wow. [00:00:25] When we go out I headcount and get flustered because I can't find the extra one. [00:00:29] I have to consciously remind myself there are only four but my heart just doesn't believe it. [00:00:33] Well, I just put it down as one of those weird feelings and push it aside. [00:00:37] Then my parents sent money to my kids. [00:00:40] They sent $500. [00:00:41] I called them and asked them why they put in so much. [00:00:43] They were confused and said that they told me they were sending $100 per kid. [00:00:47] I reminded them that I only have four kids. [00:00:49] They were silent for a moment and then just kind of laughed and said they must be getting old because they were thinking there were five. [00:00:54] Then tonight my daughter walked into the lounge room. [00:00:56] She looked around and said, I know we're all here but our family feels small. [00:01:00] My son agreed. [00:01:01] I hadn't said anything to anyone about my feelings lately because they already think I'm ancient and forgetful at 40. [00:01:06] Thanks for reading if you've made it this far. [00:01:08] Does anyone else ever have these feelings? [00:01:12] God. [00:01:13] You know, I mean, I love Catholics, but it's true that if you just, with enough kids, it's, yeah, give or take one that's just, like, doesn't really make that much of a difference, I guess. [00:01:22] Now, in the comments section, the majority of users agree that OP must have had a fifth child who glitched out at some point, and his memory was reset to ensure he didn't panic at the loss of a child. [00:01:34] All except for one user who lamented that he could not upvote the post, as he didn't want to disturb the fact that it was at 420 upvotes. [00:01:41] As of this writing, that number has long since been passed. [00:01:47] Oh man, this is truly so good. [00:01:51] The idea that a fifth child could just like windows blue screen of death. [00:01:56] There are amazing stories. [00:01:57] There's some like kind of more intense, I can't remember exactly what I included, but one common theme that's really interesting is that there are a lot of stories about people experience death, essentially remember like getting killed, but then they kind of like glitch into like a new reality where they survived somehow. === Save Point and Simulation Theory (03:52) === [00:02:15] And then continue their life with the full knowledge that, like, they had this other life, died, and then they kind of, like, glitched into this, like, next reality. [00:02:23] Like a Matrix-y explanation of, like, reincarnation. [00:02:26] Or almost like the Star Trek, like, teleporter premise where, like, one version of you dies and then, like, you kind of, like, continue your consciousness in, like, this alternate version. [00:02:36] It's very weird and interesting and, like, kind of, like, gave me anxiety while I was reading it. [00:02:41] And I didn't try, I didn't really want to include anything. [00:02:44] That was like too trigger-y, so... Well, it's like a save point, right? [00:02:47] It's like, uh, lots of my favorite games. [00:02:49] Yeah. [00:02:49] It's like, you get to a point, like, right behind a difficult, uh, you know, challenging, uh, puzzle, or a boss battle, whatever, and you save, and then you go, and you do it, and then you die, and you go back to your save point, you try it again. [00:03:02] Yeah, you save Scum, and then don't have that fifth child. [00:03:05] Yeah. [00:03:06] Right, exactly. [00:03:06] It was all a mistake. [00:03:07] There was a save point... I wanna go back to a previous... [00:03:10] Well, yeah, what they were remembering was just a different file that they didn't load. [00:03:15] Damn. [00:03:15] Yeah. [00:03:16] This is a comment by Danimal147. [00:03:17] His title is, completely understood a foreign language for a second. [00:03:24] The post says, About a year ago, I was at work helping two customers fill [00:03:29] out some paperwork. [00:03:29] They were both Chinese, but one spoke zero English, and the other was translating for [00:03:34] him. [00:03:35] I sat the paper in front of them and looked down to grab a pen. [00:03:39] As I was looking down, I heard one of them clear as day, Where do I sign my name? [00:03:44] So I looked up with a pen and said, You sign your name right here, sir. [00:03:49] The translator looked shocked and said, You speak Mandarin? [00:03:52] I had no idea what to say. [00:03:54] I was just as confused and shocked as he was. [00:03:57] I made up an excuse and said, I assumed that's what he said. [00:04:01] To hide how mind blown I was, but no, I completely heard and understood him. [00:04:06] I don't think he believed me either because he was giving me that look still. [00:04:10] It still freaks me out to this day. [00:04:12] This is more of like an example of group consciousness than like a simulation. [00:04:16] I don't know that this points to a simulation. [00:04:19] Yeah, it sounds like this is like he got he sort of got the vibe of what he was saying, even if he didn't understand the words like he was. [00:04:26] This is, you know, people communicate more than just their words, you know, intonation, body language, they just. [00:04:32] They received that message and interpreted it as actually understanding Mandarin. [00:04:36] With a top comment with almost a thousand upvotes. [00:04:39] Travis, will you read that for us as well? [00:04:41] The top comment is, I heard a story where someone was in a coma for a few months and came out speaking fluent German with no prior knowledge of the German language. [00:04:50] His ancestors were German, however. [00:04:52] That man was Hitler and he was in a hospital due to mustard gas. [00:04:58] I feel like I want to say that this has happened to me before. [00:05:01] I can't recall a specific moment, but while I was reading it, I had this weird sense of deja vu, and the whole story felt familiar and personal to me. [00:05:08] Maybe researching the ideas of a simulation construct actually helps you to begin to decode it. [00:05:13] Sort of like Neo and the Matrix. [00:05:16] Wait a minute. [00:05:16] Hold on. [00:05:17] No, no, no. [00:05:17] Wait a tick. [00:05:18] No, no, no. [00:05:19] Hold on. [00:05:19] No, I gotta keep my brain together for the rest of the episode. [00:05:22] That's right. [00:05:23] Do it for the paying listeners, sir. [00:05:25] All right. [00:05:25] I can do it. [00:05:25] Get your fucking act together. [00:05:27] I can do it. [00:05:28] This is recently from 12 days ago, and the title is, I didn't exist for an entire afternoon when I was 16. [00:05:33] Same, same, same, same, same.
