Dennis Prager Show - Chicago Voters Are Responsible Aired: 2025-09-07 Duration: 03:25 [00:00:00] I don't know. [00:00:00] I don't know how to react emotionally. [00:00:02] I know how to react morally. [00:00:04] I know how to react intellectually. [00:00:06] I don't know how to react emotionally when people elect scummy leaders and then suffer for it. [00:00:16] Do I say you deserve it? [00:00:19] Well, what about the people who didn't vote for him? [00:00:21] So it's the old question about Abraham's argument with God. [00:00:26] And it's about Sodom and Gomorrah, which if you went to an American college, you know nothing about. [00:00:34] But it's a very famous story among those who know the most important work of Western history, the Bible. [00:00:41] So God wants to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because they're evil cities. [00:00:46] And Abraham, the first believer in the God of the universe, which is the God introduced by the Hebrew Bible, says, you know what? [00:00:57] Well, God, let me ask you, what if there are 50 righteous men? [00:01:00] Will you destroy the city? [00:01:03] And God says, no, if there are 50 righteous men or humans in Sodom and Gomorrah, I won't. [00:01:10] What about 40? [00:01:11] What about 30? [00:01:12] What about 20? [00:01:13] What about 10? [00:01:14] Then he stops at 10. [00:01:17] So I I understand that. [00:01:20] There are certainly certainly that percentage equivalent of decent people in Chicago. [00:01:28] But you know what? [00:01:29] There is such a thing as collective guilt. [00:01:33] And it's a painful thing, but it is true. [00:01:38] What is collective guilt, at least in this context mean? [00:01:42] Chicago is responsible for whom it elects as mayor. [00:01:48] And if you if you loathe your mayor and you live in Chicago, you are partially responsible. [00:01:57] You were not effective in getting more people in Chicago to vote differently. [00:02:08] If you sent your kid to a public school in Chicago and you loathe the mayor of Chicago, you are partially responsible because you're supporting the Chicago Teachers Union, one of the most loathsome groups in America. [00:02:23] Remember when they threatened to go on strike if they didn't keep the schools locked down more? [00:02:27] And now by the way, there's now a new report, yet another report about the amount of depression that the lockdowns caused young people. [00:02:36] No group hurts young people in America like teachers' unions. [00:02:40] No one comes close as a group. [00:02:45] So there's the Wall Street Journal has an editorial. [00:02:50] They say voters deserve what they get in a democracy. [00:02:53] That's how they begin. [00:02:56] But no one deserves Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson, and certainly not Chicago school children. [00:03:03] But that's not true. [00:03:05] It's true about the children. [00:03:07] It's not true. [00:03:07] No one deserves Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson. [00:03:11] Every fool who voted for him deserves him. [00:03:14] But by the way, the teachers are not fools for voting for him, because they knew they're voting to get a raise. [00:03:21] So they're not fools. [00:03:23] They're vile, but they're not fools.
