Dennis Prager Show - It Doesn't Take a Majority for Evil to Prevail Aired: 2025-05-24 Duration: 02:58 === Bolsheviks and Minority Nik (02:58) === [00:00:00] It doesn't take a majority for evil to prevail. [00:00:09] Truly significant. [00:00:11] I learned this in the field that I studied, communism. [00:00:18] If you don't know what I'm about to say, you'll find this fascinating. [00:00:21] You probably have heard of the Bolsheviks. [00:00:23] That was the first name of the communists of Russia, turned Russia into the Russian Empire into the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics or the Soviet Union. [00:00:35] The Bolsheviks were the first group of communists, and they took over after the Second Russian Revolution. [00:00:45] The first was February, and the next was October. [00:00:51] I think that's according to the old calendar, but it doesn't matter. [00:00:54] The same year. [00:00:55] So there was a democratic revolution and then a communist revolution in 1917. [00:01:04] The Bolsheviks, headed by Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, took over. [00:01:10] Now here's the point, and this is so germane to what you're seeing. [00:01:21] The word Bolshevik comes from the Russian word Bolshoi, like in Bolshoi Ballet, that you may have heard of, the most famous ballet company in the world. [00:01:34] Bolshoi means big. [00:01:38] So the Bolshevik was the big or majority nik. [00:01:45] And here's the key. [00:01:46] They were in the minority. [00:01:49] The majority got the name Menshevik, the folks who were much more pro-freedom, democracy, etc., etc. [00:02:01] They were in the majority, but they got the name Minority Nik. [00:02:06] Menshe is, means less in Russian. [00:02:11] So the big nik was the little nik, and the little nik was the big nik. [00:02:20] But it worked. [00:02:22] It worked. [00:02:24] The minority took over. [00:02:27] Same in Germany. [00:02:30] They were not the majority party in the 1932 elections, the last free elections in Germany until the end, until World War II had ended in 1945. [00:02:46] It was a minority of Germans who voted for the Nazis. [00:02:52] But they took over. [00:02:56] This is the great lesson.
