A Moment of Trust Lost
00:02:03
|
|
| This is relatively new in American history. | |
| What was it? | |
| In the 1960s, let's say, 70s, Walter Cronkite, a name that many of you will not be familiar with if you're younger than perhaps 45. But he was considered the most trusted man in America. | |
| He was CBS News. | |
| Huntley Brinkley report on NBC News. | |
| Whether right or wrong, they were trusted. | |
| Republicans trusted them. | |
| Democrats trusted them. | |
| And the left, remember, the left destroys everything it touches, and that includes news media. | |
| So I haven't heard this clip. | |
| I read about it, so play it. | |
| I'll be interested. | |
| He's kind of been thrown on his heels by this, and he's not really sure how to go after Vice President Harris. | |
| He knew his attack lines on President Biden. | |
| He really has struggled with how to go after someone who's 20 years younger than him, who has a different gender, a different race. | |
| It's kind of been this moment where he has not been able to coalesce around a single attack line. | |
| I know you guys are objective over there that you just report the news as it is. | |
| I know, CNN makes a... | |
| Was that supposed to be a laugh line? | |
| It wasn't supposed to be, but I guess it was. | |
| Wow. | |
| Wow. | |
| What was the woman's name? | |
| Caitlin Collins. | |
| Caitlin Collins? | |
| She's a reporter. | |
| A reporter at CNN. Even she said, is that a punchline? | |
| What was it? | |
| A laugh line? | |
| Stephen Colbert's audience laughed. | |
| When he looked at his CNN reporter and says, oh, you guys report the news as it is, or whatever he said. | |
| That's right. | |
| It's laughable, but it's really cryable. | |
