Dennis Prager Show - Protesting Gives Meaning To Unhappy People. Aired: 2024-05-03 Duration: 09:34 === Meaninglessness And Protest (09:12) === [00:00:00] This is quite a time in America. [00:00:02] This is exactly like the post-George Floyd riots. [00:00:07] There is a percentage of American young people that want to riot. [00:00:14] It gives their meaningless lives meaning. [00:00:18] That is all it is about. [00:00:19] It gives them community. [00:00:20] They have no community. [00:00:22] They have nothing. [00:00:23] Virtually none are married. [00:00:26] They don't have anything. [00:00:28] They don't have religion. [00:00:29] They don't have marriage. [00:00:32] They don't have meaning. [00:00:34] They don't have a country that they adore or even identify with. [00:00:42] I read to you yesterday about how many campuses they substituted the Palestinian flag for the American flag and cheered. [00:00:52] And some foolish non-Jews think it's a Jewish issue. [00:00:57] It's like foolish non-Jews thought Hitler was a Jewish issue. [00:01:01] They hate you, dear American Christian, dear American who loves America. [00:01:09] They hate you just as much as they hate Israel. [00:01:15] It has nothing to do with Israel. [00:01:17] It's an excuse to riot and give their empty lives meaning. [00:01:24] That's what it is about. [00:01:27] The search for meaning is the greatest search in human life. [00:01:32] People need meaning more than they need anything but food, even more than sex. [00:01:39] As powerful as the sexual drive is, there are people who have little or no sex and are happy. [00:01:47] There is no one with little or no meaning who is happy. [00:01:53] The left has created this chaos and the meaninglessness. [00:01:57] People with meaningless lives are leftists because the left fills the void. [00:02:04] That's what I have spoken about all of my life. [00:02:08] It was obvious to me when I was at Columbia in the 1970s, a half century ago, the same stuff. [00:02:20] They're just more brazen today. [00:02:22] They used to take over dean's offices and president's offices. [00:02:26] Now they take over whole campuses. [00:02:30] And the faculty, or many in the faculty, support them. [00:02:35] One of the reasons that presidents and deans are cowards is because they're afraid of their faculty. [00:02:42] There's already a push to get rid of the president of Barnard College because she has Demanded that they disband their encampment at the college. [00:02:57] And I believe she has called in the police. [00:03:02] It's so amazing how you can desecrate our university. [00:03:09] You can do all sorts of damage to Hamilton Hall at Columbia. [00:03:18] But we can't call in the police for reasons that I'm not quite sure. [00:03:24] About half of the protesters, by the way, are not even students. [00:03:28] They're the people who, in many cases, organized George Floyd riots. [00:03:40] Let me read to you from this New York Times piece, because this is a big giveaway. [00:03:47] For many, the issues are closer to home and at the same time much bigger and broader in their eyes. [00:03:56] The Gaza conflict is a struggle for justice linked to issues that seem far afield. [00:04:05] They say they are motivated by policing, mistreatment of indigenous peoples, discrimination toward black Americans. [00:04:16] And the impact of global warming. [00:04:20] That's right. [00:04:22] That's what's motivating them. [00:04:27] Wow. [00:04:30] So the Palestine cause is a cause of loathing of America and the West. [00:04:37] That's what it is. [00:04:41] You can deny it because it's... [00:04:46] Easy to believe what one wants to believe as opposed to what is true. [00:04:53] Struggle for justice. [00:04:56] Discrimination toward black Americans. [00:04:59] Wow. [00:05:01] It's really rough to be a black American because of white supremacy. [00:05:08] Right? [00:05:10] Really rough. [00:05:12] So four million blacks who moved here from Africa to the Caribbean in the last few decades must be just stupid. [00:05:23] Moved to a place where you will be discriminated against. [00:05:33] It's a gigantic lie. [00:05:36] The left is the world of the lie. [00:05:39] For men give birth. [00:05:42] To discrimination toward black Americans as some endemic feature of black American life. [00:05:51] Let me ask you a question. [00:05:53] If you were to apply to almost any job in this country and you could put down race and thereby maximize your chance of being hired. [00:06:09] Do you think it would be better to put down black or white? [00:06:17] In interviews, the language of many protesters was also distinctive. [00:06:22] Ah, this is so important. [00:06:25] Students freely salted their explanations with academic terms like intersectionality. [00:06:34] A victory for the left, my friends. [00:06:37] This is perfect. [00:06:39] They are brainwashed, frightening, zombie-like, loathsome creatures. [00:06:46] That's what the left has produced. [00:06:49] These are the dead walking, or the walking dead. [00:06:55] Intersectionality, colonialism, and imperialism. [00:07:01] Yes, where exactly is imperialism taking place today? [00:07:06] Try and think. [00:07:10] Hmm. [00:07:11] Colonialism. [00:07:12] Wow. [00:07:14] All to make their case that the plight of Palestinians is a result of global power structures that thrive on bias and oppression. [00:07:30] Nothing beats feeling oppressed. [00:07:37] Yeah. [00:07:41] You know how often I will ask Sean in the morning, how are you, Sean? [00:07:45] And he'll say, feel great, I'm oppressed. [00:07:50] The delight in his eyes, there's a light in his eyes over being oppressed. [00:08:03] The birds are singing, the sun is shining, and he's oppressed. [00:08:07] I am repeating his words. [00:08:12] Quote, they quote Katie Roof, a female, shocking, a first-year student at Cornell University. [00:08:22] As an environmentalist, we pride ourselves on viewing the world through intersectional lenses. [00:08:30] Woe unto the parent whose child says intersectional lenses. [00:08:37] You have lost your beloved child. [00:08:41] Your child has become a zombie. [00:08:47] No normal human being uses the term intersectional lenses. [00:08:55] Climate justice is an everyone issue. === A Happier Human (00:36) === [00:09:05] It affects every dimension of identity. [00:09:10] God, is she pathetic? [00:09:12] Oh, it's so sad. [00:09:16] Yeah. [00:09:18] 75 years ago, she'd be preoccupied with her studies and getting married. [00:09:27] Might have attended church that Sunday. [00:09:30] Would have been a happier, much happier human being.
