Dennis Prager Show - Argentina Is Embracing American Values Aired: 2024-04-26 Duration: 09:26 === Embracing Western Values (09:26) === [00:00:00] There is a wonderful human being as the head of a country. [00:00:06] I don't know how long he will be, but he's actually remarkable. [00:00:12] Javier Millet, the president of Argentina, the newly elected president of Argentina, who loves the West, who loves Israel, who loves the founders of America. [00:00:31] So here's from the Daily Wire, this report. [00:00:35] The recently elected president of Argentina, Javier Millet, is turning to the values of America's founding fathers to save his country. [00:00:46] He told Ben Shapiro, we have decided to embrace the values of the West. [00:00:54] Millet explains in a wide-ranging interview with Shapiro, the Daily Wire... [00:01:00] And the Daily Wire, and embracing the values of the West means embracing the founding fathers of the United States. [00:01:07] He has that so clear. [00:01:10] I am in awe of the founders of the United States. [00:01:16] I know that to almost any young American who has been taught at a normal school, that sounds amazing. [00:01:25] You admire slave owners? [00:01:29] And that's it. [00:01:34] I don't know how to say this, but there's very often... [00:01:38] The reason I don't know how to say this is I don't want to make any ad hominem attacks on people. [00:01:46] But so often when I am in a dialogue or debate with somebody with whom I strongly differ on these major matters, I'm realizing They know not what they say. [00:02:03] They have been taught at American high schools and colleges, so they don't know how to think clearly. [00:02:11] Most of the time when I am in debates, the issue is not so much that I think they're wrong, although I do, it's that it is clear to me that they have been taught how not to think clearly. [00:02:27] Well, well, and this is an example. [00:02:29] They had slaves, therefore we have nothing to learn from them. [00:02:34] They are invalidated just on those grounds. [00:02:40] So what happens is, the people who founded the freest society has ever been created in history. [00:02:48] The people who led America in a revolution that was the opposite of the French Revolution. [00:02:55] And who gave the world hope for liberty. [00:02:58] Hence, the Statue of Liberty given by France. [00:03:05] Ironically, the home of the French Revolution gave America the Statue of Liberty. [00:03:11] Even though they had liberty, fraternity, equality in their motto. [00:03:15] But as soon as equality is in your motto, you can get rid of liberty and fraternity. [00:03:22] You can't have liberty and equality. [00:03:25] It's not possible because we're talking equality of result, obviously. [00:03:30] Everybody believes that we are all created. [00:03:32] Everybody, at least, who believes in God, believes we're all created in God's image. [00:03:39] We're not talking about equality of birth, but equality of result. [00:03:48] He's right. [00:03:50] If you study the founders of America, the president of Argentina says, then you will understand and embrace the values of the West. [00:04:01] That is right. [00:04:04] That's why I wrote my book, Still the Best Hope, Why American Values Have to... [00:04:13] I don't remember the subtitle, but it's about spreading American values. [00:04:19] Throughout the world. [00:04:20] I'll get the subtitle. [00:04:21] It's called Still the Best Hope. [00:04:23] It's three books in one about the left. [00:04:26] It's about America, American values, and it is about Islam. [00:04:34] In some ways, it's the most important book I've written. [00:04:37] It was the book that got Julie Hartman, that remarkable young woman whom I do a podcast with, Dennis and Julian, who does her own podcast. [00:04:49] Timeless with Julie Hartman. [00:04:54] That was the book that started her on her road to moral clarity and changed their life. [00:05:04] Why American values? [00:05:06] That's the issue. [00:05:10] Still the best hope. [00:05:12] Why the world needs American values to triumph. [00:05:16] That's my book. [00:05:17] That's exactly what Javier Millet is saying. [00:05:22] I, the Argentine president, want to adopt American values. [00:05:29] They will save Argentina and they will save the West. [00:05:38] That is what he believes, and he is right. [00:05:42] How many kids, kids, how many people under 40, if you ask them, what are our American values? [00:05:51] Would even have an answer. [00:05:54] They wouldn't have an answer. [00:05:58] Maybe they would say equality, confusing the American Revolution with the French Revolution. [00:06:07] Embracing the values of the West means embracing the founding fathers of the United States. [00:06:14] Oh my God, is that clear? [00:06:16] That is exactly right. [00:06:18] Why the world needs American values to triumph. [00:06:22] I hope you'll read my book. [00:06:24] I don't write to make money. [00:06:27] I write to touch lives. [00:06:29] If I wrote to make money, I would not be writing a commentary on the first five books of the Bible. [00:06:36] I feel that I make enough money so that I can write books that may not make a lot of money. [00:06:43] Because I want to touch people's lives. [00:06:46] They've been best sellers, but that doesn't mean anything. [00:06:51] Often, it doesn't tell you about the financial remuneration. [00:06:54] And I'm not complaining. [00:06:55] I am the luckiest man I know. [00:06:59] But I do want you to read Still the Best Hope. [00:07:03] It'll blow your mind. [00:07:05] This is relevant today, maybe more relevant than when I wrote it. [00:07:11] Embracing the values of the West means embracing the founding fathers of the United States. [00:07:18] The article goes on to say, Malay is a strong supporter of strengthening relations between Argentina and the United States, as well as other countries that embrace freedom such as Israel. [00:07:31] Millet told Shapiro that Moses is the greatest freedom hero of all time, and that Israel still embodies Moses' spirit. [00:07:41] God, this guy's amazing. [00:07:44] The moral clarity of this guy. [00:07:47] What is his motto when he speaks something? [00:07:50] What is it? [00:07:51] Freedom, dammit? [00:07:53] Let me get that phrase correctly. [00:07:58] I played for you a speech that he gave at the World Economic Forum. [00:08:02] It was unbelievable that he was telling these people about freedom and capitalism. [00:08:12] The free market. [00:08:15] Freedom is freedom. [00:08:17] Freedom has to stretch to the economy. [00:08:21] And it has to stretch, of course, to speech. [00:08:25] Now, here is a man. [00:08:27] This should make you think. [00:08:28] Here is the president of a major country, Argentina. [00:08:36] And he is telling the world what we need are American values. [00:08:43] And he is probably the most pro-Israel leader in the world today. [00:08:50] Now, do you think that's a coincidence that the man who says the world needs the values of the American founders is the most pro-Israel? [00:08:59] Well, Joe Biden is not the most pro-Israel, and he doesn't embrace those American values. [00:09:07] He doesn't embrace any values, in my opinion. [00:09:10] Basically, what he believes is what will keep him in power and win votes. [00:09:21] Very few people know what he actually stands for, to be perfectly honest.
