Dennis Prager Show - Another Senseless Mass Shooting Aired: 2024-02-16 Duration: 07:00 === Never Explain Gun Control (03:52) === [00:00:01] Do they have anybody yet? [00:00:03] Any suspects that they've named in Kansas City? [00:00:08] People go to celebrate a Super Bowl win and somebody... [00:00:14] Is it more than one person who was shooting? [00:00:17] Even that's not clear? [00:00:19] Whoever did it, apparently it was just a desire to kill people. [00:00:30] There was no other aim. [00:00:35] So the usual, of course, you don't care about these people if you don't want to do something about guns. [00:00:44] They never explained to me, never, I'm really going out here, I'm taking a risk saying this because The answer may be so obvious that it will reflect poorly on me. [00:01:00] But I'm willing to do it because I have been discussing this for almost half a century. [00:01:06] Whenever I hear common sense gun control, that'll do it. [00:01:11] Okay? [00:01:12] I'm really into common sense. [00:01:15] So I would like to know what law could have been passed that would have... [00:01:25] Rendered any given murder impossible. [00:01:29] If a person is an adult, has not stolen the gun, or if they did steal the gun, that certainly, obviously, the laws did nothing about that. [00:01:39] There's nothing they can do. [00:01:41] They stole a gun. [00:01:41] But let's say they bought the gun. [00:01:45] What would have prevented them from getting a gun? [00:01:49] What law? [00:01:52] That's why, since I never get an answer to that, there are background checks. [00:01:58] I have a gun, and there was an extensive background check done on me before the gun was delivered to the gun store to be given to me. [00:02:09] There are background checks. [00:02:13] So I read all the time that at gun shows, you can get a gun immediately. [00:02:18] I have no idea if that's true. [00:02:20] But let's say it's true. [00:02:21] Okay, maybe there should be a background check at a gun show. [00:02:25] How many murders have been committed by people who got a gun at a gun show? [00:02:32] The only thing that you could argue is full confiscation. [00:02:36] Make it illegal, as it is essentially, except for a handful of people who are what are called sportsmen, to have guns. [00:02:49] But it's not possible. [00:02:51] The barn door has been opened too long. [00:02:54] You can't do that. [00:02:55] And by the way, there is truth to the Second Amendment protects the First Amendment. [00:03:03] People don't want to believe that either. [00:03:05] They want to believe that the state will always be a benevolent force. [00:03:10] That's what the left believes, because they believe in power. [00:03:14] And if you have a gun, they don't have as much power as they want. [00:03:18] The state should have all the power. [00:03:21] All possibility of armament should be in the state's possession. [00:03:29] They're the only ones who should be armed. [00:03:33] What you're saying is there's no chance that despicable human beings will ever take over the government. === Naive About Human Nature (03:22) === [00:03:39] Only good people will run the government. [00:03:44] That is why you have to be naive to be a leftist. [00:03:48] You have to be a lot of things that are troubling, but that is a criterion. [00:03:53] You have to be naive about human nature. [00:03:55] You have to live in la-la land, in diversity, equity, inclusion land. [00:04:01] I want to know who did this horrific thing. - Thank you. [00:04:13] The ability of one or two people to ruin things is so an unfair part of the human condition. [00:04:26] How few people can destroy everything for so many? [00:04:33] What type of human being does it take to see people celebrating a football game win? [00:04:42] And then shoot at children. [00:04:45] By the way, the same question would apply to shooting at adults. [00:04:52] I'm really, really curious. [00:04:56] I hope they catch these people because these questions need to be asked. [00:05:01] I should say they need to be asked and they need to be answered. [00:05:07] Wasn't there some heroic person here who jumped on top of the... [00:05:12] On top of one of the shooters or the shooter? [00:05:14] It's very sad. [00:05:23] It's very sad on every level. [00:05:25] There was a reporter for a local station who was murdered, this woman, a mother... [00:05:30] She was a reporter. [00:05:31] A reporter? [00:05:32] She wasn't a reporter? [00:05:33] She was a DJ. Oh, DJ, yeah. [00:05:36] That's right, a DJ. On a philosophical note, I believe it was her bad luck that she was killed. [00:05:51] I don't believe it was God's will. [00:05:54] And I'm a very religious person. [00:05:57] Deep believer in God. [00:06:00] God made a world in which bad things can happen to good people. [00:06:03] otherwise he would have made us robots. [00:06:07] It's interesting how many religious people want to deny that there's an element of luck in life. [00:06:19] Thank you. [00:06:20] Thank you. [00:06:23] You're hit by a drunk driver and it was God's will, so it was God's will that the person get drunk and drive as well. [00:06:30] It's God's will that this person shoot. [00:06:36] God governs the universe. [00:06:38] but God doesn't control everything that human beings do. [00:06:42] The other thing I think always when this happens is I wish a person is caught. [00:06:54] So... [00:06:56] If it's the right person, convicted quickly and then executed.
