Dennis Prager Show - The Columbia University Newspaper Wants to Belittle Me Aired: 2023-12-12 Duration: 05:08 === Graduate School Dropout (04:21) === [00:00:01] I should really read to you the opening sentences there. [00:00:06] They reported on my speech, and it's not even subtle that the reporter didn't like me. [00:00:18] Is that fair to say? [00:00:21] Oh my God. [00:00:23] I spoke for about, I would say, almost 90 minutes, and then... [00:00:33] And then I took questions, and I would say virtually nothing of what I actually said was reported. [00:00:43] But I want to read to you the opening of the report. [00:00:50] College Republicans host conservative commentator Dennis Prager for Israel and Morality Talk. [00:00:57] That's the headline. [00:00:59] That's the title of the piece. [00:01:02] So who wrote it? [00:01:03] Cameron Spur. [00:01:05] I didn't even look to see that. [00:01:07] Conservative author and radio host Dennis Prager, a school of international and public affairs dropout. [00:01:16] I have to say, I've been called everything. [00:01:19] I mean everything. [00:01:22] Dropout, that's the first. [00:01:24] So, it's so interesting. [00:01:28] The normal way of putting it, somebody who attends, Graduate school, for example, and does not stay for a degree, you normally say, Dennis Prager, who attended the School of International Affairs. [00:01:42] Isn't that what you would normally think? [00:01:46] Whether I got the degree or not? [00:01:50] Or even say, but, you know, left before getting his degree or anything. [00:01:56] I'm not even... [00:01:58] I'm not personally offended. [00:02:00] I just want you to understand how in the first sentence the Columbia University newspaper wanted to belittle me. [00:02:10] So it's an interesting thing. [00:02:13] Did you ever even hear of a graduate school dropout? [00:02:17] It's a term used for high school and college. [00:02:21] And not even college so much. [00:02:25] I'm a graduate school dropout. [00:02:30] It's really precious. [00:02:33] By the way, just for the record, you should all know what it meant to drop out. [00:02:40] I actually gave my master's thesis orally, and I did not type it up. [00:02:46] That is correct. [00:02:48] It would have taken a very long time. [00:02:51] Ironically, or interestingly, perhaps not ironically, because I simply didn't know how to touch type. [00:02:58] And in those days, unlike now, when you make an error, you just redo the word in a nanosecond. [00:03:06] In those days, if you made an error while typing, you had to use some white-out fluid over the letter, go back, and then retype the letter. [00:03:20] So if you didn't know how to type, touch type as they called it, you really were in trouble. [00:03:30] And the interesting thing is I was never taught it. [00:03:34] Here's an example of where sexism, and it was sexism, I will acknowledge, really benefited women. [00:03:42] When I was in high school, I think it was high school, The girls were taught to type and the boys were not taught to type. [00:03:55] Did you know that? [00:03:56] Yeah. [00:03:56] Did you have that too? [00:03:59] No. [00:03:59] No, but I did. [00:04:01] It was probably common a long time ago. [00:04:05] Those lucky girls who learned how to type. [00:04:07] I didn't learn anything in the other class. === Staunchly Pro-Israel Voice (01:00) === [00:04:09] I don't even know what it was. [00:04:10] I think it was something to do with health. [00:04:13] Maybe that's why I've been healthy. [00:04:15] Maybe I shouldn't be ungrateful. [00:04:20] Anyway, dropout. [00:04:23] Spoke to students in the Lerner Arun Arledge Cinema on Tuesday in an event titled Israel and Morality, hosted by the Columbia University College Republicans. [00:04:38] Prager, a staunchly pro-Israel voice. [00:04:43] That's so fascinating. [00:04:47] A staunchly pro-Israel voice. [00:04:52] That's correct. [00:04:53] I am a staunchly pro-Israel voice. [00:04:58] I assume that the author believes that there are just two sides. [00:05:04] There's the staunchly pro-Palestinian and the staunchly pro-Israel.
