Dennis Prager Show - Newsom "Florida's Murder Rate is WORSE than California's" Aired: 2023-12-01 Duration: 06:27 === Crime Debate Revealed (05:49) === [00:00:00] The fact that Newsom would even agree to a debate representing a deteriorating state versus the most free and energetic state in the Union. [00:00:21] The very fact that he would show up shows you that he believes That the truth doesn't matter. [00:00:33] That's the only way to explain his appearance. [00:00:38] So listen to the crime debate part. [00:00:42] Let's look at the issue of crime. [00:00:44] FBI numbers violent crime nationally for each of your states. [00:00:48] Keep in mind this statistic shows what is the combined rate of homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault the year 2022. On the national level. [00:00:59] The rate was 380.7 offenses per 100,000 people. [00:01:05] In California, meanwhile, the rate was much higher, 499.5 offenses per 100,000. [00:01:11] In Florida, lower, 258.9 offenses per 100,000. [00:01:16] Governor Newsom, let me start with you. [00:01:18] Your numbers are way higher than the national average. [00:01:22] How do you explain that when safety and security, I would argue, is a prerequisite for the pursuit of happiness? [00:01:28] Well, I couldn't agree with you more. [00:01:29] We're near 50-year lows, down 55% violent crimes in the state of California from the 1990s. [00:01:34] And I want to compare and contrast that with the issue in Florida that you didn't mention, and that's the murder rate. [00:01:40] And let's broaden it more broadly. [00:01:42] The issue is seven out of the top ten... [00:01:43] Those numbers were part of the murder rate. [00:01:45] Seven of the top ten murder rates in the United States of America are red states. [00:01:48] He has a 66%... [00:01:50] There's a higher gun death rate than the state of California. [00:01:53] There's a higher murder rate. [00:01:55] Go to places like Jacksonville. [00:01:57] Go to places like Orlando. [00:01:58] Go to places like Tampa. [00:01:59] The murder rate's off the charts compared to cities like San Francisco. [00:02:04] And you know what? [00:02:05] Even more egregiously, Sean, and I think this is important, the American people deserve an answer from you, Ron. [00:02:10] You had one of the worst mass shootings in American history, Parkland. [00:02:14] Seventeen kids were gunned down. [00:02:16] Lives lost. [00:02:17] Seventeen others, lives torn asunder. [00:02:20] You had a young girl by the name of Jamie Gutenberg, whose father pleaded with you to do something about it. [00:02:27] And you know what you did? [00:02:28] You did the exact opposite. [00:02:29] You made it easier for felons to get guns without background checks, without any training. [00:02:35] These people pleaded with you, parents and the families, to get tough on gun safety. [00:02:39] And again, you made it easier for felons. [00:02:42] He said of you, Ron, and I agree with him. [00:02:45] After... [00:02:45] After you sign that concealed carry bill, which increases the likelihood, Fred Gutenberg said, of more Jamies losing their lives and more Parklands, he called you weak, pathetic, and small. [00:02:56] So with respect, I appreciate your talking to police officers in the state of California. [00:03:00] You may want to spend a little bit more time, not... [00:03:03] On the Ohio Trail and other places across this country, you may have spent a little more time back in your home state and addressed the murder and gun violence. [00:03:11] Okay, so before he answers, this is awesome. [00:03:17] Newsom was awesome. [00:03:21] He has doubled the violent crime rate of Florida, and he gets out of it. [00:03:33] You allowed a concealed weapons thing. [00:03:39] To differ with a parent who lost a child is very difficult. [00:03:44] There is no pain like that on earth. [00:03:47] But the fact that you suffer doesn't make you right, obviously. [00:03:54] There's an old Holocaust survivor who's pro-Hamas. [00:03:58] The woman is sick. [00:04:00] Maybe the Holocaust... [00:04:02] Caused her to be psychologically disturbed. [00:04:07] But you're not right and you're not wrong if you have suffered. [00:04:14] Suffering does not give you correctness of a position. [00:04:22] People who've suffered have opposite positions. [00:04:24] So how do you judge on who suffered more? [00:04:27] So it's somewhat demagogic to cite... [00:04:31] A left-wing parent who tragically and beyond belief, sadly, his daughter was murdered. [00:04:41] So there are people who believe that if more people, more responsible people get concealed weapon permits, you might have a better chance of killing a mass shooter. [00:04:57] Right? [00:04:58] I mean, is that not an argument? [00:05:01] now loosening its gun laws or tightening its gun laws? [00:05:06] Is a killer more likely to attack a school that says a gun-free zone or one, we allow concealed weapons on this campus? we allow concealed weapons on this campus? [00:05:25] Which do you think a murderer is more likely to go to, Mr. Gutenberg? [00:05:32] Anyway, he didn't answer. === Rural New York Is Not Dangerous (00:53) === [00:05:34] He picks Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville. [00:05:39] We're talking about the state. [00:05:42] On this line that the left gives, there's more of this crime in red states. [00:05:47] The issue is not red states. [00:05:49] The issue is red cities or blue cities. [00:05:54] It's demagogic to speak of the state. [00:06:00] Rural New York is not dangerous. [00:06:02] New York City is. [00:06:03] Rural Oregon is not dangerous. [00:06:05] Portland is. [00:06:07] Businesses aren't being smashed and stolen SUVs driven through windows in small cities, which are overwhelmingly conservative. [00:06:21] Oh, God, to listen to this stuff. [00:06:24] I should get paid more. [00:06:25] Never said that in 40 years.
