Dennis Prager Show - Banned From Watching His Grand Kids Play! Aired: 2021-10-22 Duration: 03:06 === Kept Putting Me Off (03:06) === [00:00:00] I'm Dennis Prager. [00:00:02] All right, so Jay at Columbus, what's your issue with Basques and your family? [00:00:08] Yeah, first of all, I'd love to meet you. [00:00:10] I'm a pipe smoker. [00:00:11] I'm a retired policeman. [00:00:12] You've taught me so much about Judaism. [00:00:14] I never knew about the religion until I began to listen to you four years ago. [00:00:19] So anyway. [00:00:20] Thank you. [00:00:21] I have been, all since this time, I've been against the vaccination. [00:00:26] I've been... [00:00:28] Believed in, you know, God's will, no mask, despite that there was a mandate in Ohio last year. [00:00:34] So my son is a nurse at a major hospital in Columbus, Ohio. [00:00:38] He's married, has three little grandchildren, three little children, my grandchildren, which I love and adore. [00:00:44] I'm a very involved grandfather. [00:00:45] I'm a retired policeman, so I have a lot of time to be with him. [00:00:48] I've always gone to their sporting events. [00:00:51] Dance recitals, all that stuff. [00:00:53] I've babysat for them. [00:00:54] I've helped them out with money. [00:00:57] You know, they're a young family. [00:00:58] And then all of a sudden, just a month ago, I was told if I didn't wear a mask at my granddaughter's volleyball game, I wasn't welcome. [00:01:07] Even though the masks were not required, they were just recommended by the school. [00:01:11] It was my daughter-in-law who told me this, the wife of my son who's a nurse. [00:01:17] And I said, I didn't even protest. [00:01:21] I just said to myself, well, I won't go to the game if I'm required to wear a mask. [00:01:28] I just simply won't go. [00:01:29] Well, then she lambasted me on text for not appearing. [00:01:33] You know, how dare you not show up at your granddaughter's volleyball game over this simple mask? [00:01:38] And this was a text, and I told her, dear Leah, I said, don't text me. [00:01:43] Just have the courage to call me and talk to me. [00:01:46] And she refused. [00:01:47] She said, I can't talk to you. [00:01:49] I'll get too red in the face. [00:01:50] And then the next thing I know, Dennis, she said, you are not welcome in my house, nor welcome around my grandchildren. [00:01:58] That was one month ago. [00:01:59] And how has your son reacted? [00:02:03] I'm just now about to say that. [00:02:05] I reached out to him to see if he endorsed what she had said, and he had put me off. [00:02:11] He kept putting me off, putting me off. [00:02:13] I've been working a lot, Dad. [00:02:14] I'll get back to you. [00:02:15] And then he didn't. [00:02:18] And it's exactly one month ago, Dennis. [00:02:20] He kept putting me off. [00:02:21] I reached out to both of them to try to resolve this. [00:02:25] We live 15 minutes apart here in Columbus. [00:02:28] Yet he would not. [00:02:29] I'm a very involved grandfather. [00:02:32] Are they at all religious? [00:02:37] She is, but he's not. [00:02:38] She goes to church. [00:02:41] I would love to talk to her and ask her what she thinks about the commandment to honor your father and mother. [00:02:48] My heart breaks for you. [00:02:51] See, it's very, very hard to fight irrationality. [00:02:56] That's the thing I fear the most, is when people are governed by irrationality. [00:03:04] I'm sorry, Jay.
