Dennis Prager Show - Scaring Kids Over Climate Change! Aired: 2021-09-27 Duration: 04:15 === Need a Climate Psychologist? (04:15) === [00:00:00] Communicating about climate change effectively is critical to get people to engage with it productively, according to climate psychologist Renee Lertzman. [00:00:12] It is shocking that it's a female. [00:00:16] I kid. [00:00:17] The president is getting a booster shot live on TV. This man is one hero. [00:00:23] This guy is really something. [00:00:29] And he has a mask on? [00:00:30] He's putting it on? [00:00:31] He's getting a booster shot on TV. [00:00:46] So this is his third shot. [00:00:50] She's gonna get one. [00:00:51] I think she's teaching that. [00:00:53] But she's gonna get one, yes. [00:00:55] All right, it's enough of this. [00:00:59] You know what is fascinating? [00:01:02] The booster shots for the healthy in America and how many people around the world are getting no shots. [00:01:11] We're trying to get 12-year-olds to get shots. [00:01:15] And old people in the third world have no shots. [00:01:22] What happened to our vaunted... [00:01:25] Concern for humanity. [00:01:28] He's getting a booster shot. [00:01:30] Our hero. [00:01:31] Let's play the old thing that I kept amazingly... [00:01:35] It was amazingly prophetic of me to keep this when he was vice president of the United States. [00:01:43] I wouldn't go anywhere in confined places now. [00:01:46] I was so stunned by the coward who was vice president of the United States, the hypochondriac, that I kept that. [00:01:54] I played it for you for years and years before COVID. This is the President of the United States now. [00:02:06] Oh my God. [00:02:08] So the whole thing, this whole article about climate psychologists is predicated on that it will really hurt... [00:02:18] But we have to figure out your child, but we really have to figure out how to deal psychologically effectively with it. [00:02:25] So you can't allow your child to be too pessimistic. [00:02:28] But you can't have it both ways. [00:02:31] You can't say it's an existential threat to humanity and to life on Earth and then have your kid go, okay, no problem. [00:02:41] There's no way to square that circle, as they say. [00:02:49] All right, have deep compassion. [00:02:52] Let me look up. [00:02:53] Oh, okay, there it is. [00:02:55] Wait, it's absolutely essential that we start from a place of really having deep compassion for that feeling of nothing I can do will matter. [00:03:06] So it's not like we shouldn't be feeling that or there's something wrong with us for feeling that our individual actions are not sufficient. [00:03:15] Actually, I'm just going to really connect with myself here and say, you know what? [00:03:21] Yeah, it's really painful. [00:03:23] It's really hard. [00:03:25] This is a psychologist you really want to take your kid to. [00:03:29] If you take your kid to a psychologist like Rene Lertzman, then you need... [00:03:36] Well, you don't need a psychologist. [00:03:38] Well, you might. [00:03:40] But you might need a psychologist for why... [00:03:43] You're so easily frightened. [00:03:47] Why you have been suckered in to anything the media scares you about is probably phony. [00:03:55] I'm not saying there's no climate change. [00:03:57] I'm not saying the world's not getting warmer. [00:03:59] The world is getting warmer. [00:04:01] We'll deal with it. [00:04:02] It's a hell of a lot better than if the world got colder. [00:04:06] But the joke is, we, the United States, are such a tiny percentage of the world.
