Dennis Prager Show - Why Progressive Women Want to Date Men Who Act Like Conservatives Aired: 2021-07-27 Duration: 08:52 === Why Progressive Women Date Conservatives (07:12) === [00:00:00] Article in the New York Post. [00:00:02] I actually read excerpts last hour, even though it wasn't the male-female hour. [00:00:08] Why progressive women want to date men who act like conservatives. [00:00:13] How do you react to that? [00:00:15] You can call in now. [00:00:16] You agree with that? [00:00:19] I agree with it. [00:00:21] 1-8 Prager 776-877-243-7776. [00:00:28] The title of the piece is Why Progressive Women Want to Date Men Who Act Like Conservatives. [00:00:39] That's a good question. [00:00:40] Act like conservatives or are conservative? [00:00:44] I think in the final analysis, a lot of the time, are. [00:00:50] Because it's hard to act like a conservative if you're a progressive. [00:00:56] Because it violates everything you have been told about yourself as a male. [00:01:01] You will be a doormat. [00:01:04] And if you're not a doormat, then you are a chauvinist. [00:01:10] That's it. [00:01:11] That's the way men are taught. [00:01:12] I started reading another related article about what college does to men. [00:01:19] Written by a professor at a university, at Bucknell University. [00:01:26] How it teaches men that if they act like men, think like men, they are awful human beings. [00:01:40] So she writes, a woman named Melanie Nutkin is the author of this. [00:01:49] She's talking about a friend who's a quote-unquote a real catch. [00:01:53] I told Mark... [00:01:55] That despite his best intentions, his egalitarian dating style could be the problem that's holding him back. [00:02:01] While some women balk at any hint of traditional male gender behavior, more of them lament the loss of chivalry. [00:02:10] I'm one of them, she writes. [00:02:13] I find it attractive when a man plans our first few dates, and knowingly walks curbside when we're together. [00:02:21] It signals he wants to protect me from passing traffic. [00:02:25] Or errant puddle splashes. [00:02:29] When I was a kid, my mom told me to always walk curbside, but I assumed my generation of women would think it's too old-fashioned, Mark told me. [00:02:38] Now I'm really confused. [00:02:39] So let me tell you as a man why this is such a non-masculine statement. [00:02:45] Masculinity doesn't care what, quote, women tell him. [00:02:50] That's the whole point. [00:02:52] Doesn't mean you disrespect women. [00:02:54] There's nothing masculine about disrespecting a woman. [00:02:58] But there's nothing masculine about listening to what they say and altering your behavior as a result of what the New York Times writers who are female are telling you to do. [00:03:11] Or your teachers at college. [00:03:14] I've had this since I began broadcasting. [00:03:17] I'll never forget the guy who called my show. [00:03:20] I mean, I was in my 30s. [00:03:21] He was in his 30s. [00:03:24] And the guy said to me, I don't know what to do. [00:03:29] Should I hold the door open for a woman or not on a date? [00:03:34] And I said, the very fact that you're asking is a bad sign. [00:03:38] Of course you hold it open. [00:03:40] If she doesn't like it, then you know this is not the woman for me. [00:03:44] She saved you money. [00:03:46] You should thank her. [00:03:49] You're a feminist. [00:03:49] I have no interest in dating you. [00:03:51] Have a great day. [00:03:53] That's it. [00:03:55] And call a cab. [00:03:57] In those days, there was no Uber. [00:04:00] A woman offended if you hold the door is an idiot. [00:04:03] Why would you want to date an idiot? [00:04:08] He's really confused, this guy. [00:04:11] What a riot. [00:04:13] The New York dating scene, she's in New York. [00:04:15] This is in the New York Post. [00:04:19] Is swimming with progressive women, and many of them want men who will pick up the check. [00:04:26] The female desire to feel protected and looked after is built into our DNA, says evolutionary psychologist Jeffrey Miller, a professor at the University of New Mexico. [00:04:37] It's a mismatch between what progressive women say they want and what they actually respond to. [00:04:46] Women's instinctive mate preferences have evolved for hundreds of thousands of years for guys who are competent, strong, good providers, good protectors, and happy with the sexual division of labor. [00:04:58] Women want decisive men who are also compassionate and thoughtful. [00:05:03] That's a catch. [00:05:09] That's exactly right. [00:05:10] By the way, just for the record, I don't care if you use evolution to explain it, I happen to think God made men and women the way they are, and that when done right, they're a perfect fit. [00:05:22] But it's very hard to do right. [00:05:24] That's why we have a male-female hour. [00:05:27] If all men and women did it right, there would be no reason to have the hour, would there? [00:05:33] A 2018 study from Iowa State University backs this up, reporting that progressive women prefer men to demonstrate more traditional dating behaviors. [00:05:41] The women found these men to be, quote, more attractive. [00:05:46] Unquote. [00:05:46] Because they signal a willingness, quote, to invest by being protective, committed, and by providing resources. [00:05:54] Then she goes on to write about Gwen Stefani and whom she chose for her husband. [00:06:02] When asked what she loves about her betrothed, Stefani gushed he's full of love and generosity so you feel safe. [00:06:08] You can lean on him and trust him. [00:06:12] By the way, that's what children want from parents. [00:06:16] More than love, they want security. [00:06:20] And for two or three generations, parents have not given their kids security. [00:06:26] When your child's equal, your child is insecure. [00:06:34] Their friends are their equals. [00:06:36] Their parents are not. [00:06:41] Carrie, K-A-R-I, 45, is a fundraising executive with data demand in 2018 with left-leaning values and beliefs, but before long his egalitarian dating attitude and lack of initiative to plan dates led to a breakup. [00:06:56] Quote, At work, I'm the boss. === Babe and Femininity (01:55) === [00:06:58] I have to run the show. [00:06:59] Be the cheerleader. [00:07:00] Have tough conversations, she told me. [00:07:02] I make decisions all day long. [00:07:04] At the end of the day, I want my guy to say, Babe, I got this. [00:07:08] First of all, the fact that she wants him to say babe. [00:07:12] Whoa! [00:07:16] Isn't that an infantilization of a progressive woman? [00:07:19] Babe? [00:07:24] I appreciate a man who opens the door for me and picks up the check. [00:07:27] This makes me feel safe. [00:07:28] Like I can count on him for other things, Carrie said. [00:07:31] Adding, I'm grateful when a man steps up and acts like a man. [00:07:35] It makes me feel more feminine. [00:07:38] But the whole purpose of feminism was to have you not feel feminine. [00:07:43] That was its great goal. [00:07:46] Men should not feel masculine, and women should not feel feminine. [00:07:52] Masculinity is toxic masculinity, and femininity is weakness. [00:07:57] That's what they've been told. [00:08:00] That's what your kids are told when you send them foolishly to college. [00:08:05] Get it? [00:08:06] Femininity is weakness and masculinity is toxic. [00:08:11] Other than that, feminism had a great message. [00:08:18] While Carrie and her boyfriend broke up, she remains a feminist who will only date conservative men. [00:08:25] That's funny. [00:08:28] Well, at least she has the wisdom to know that. [00:08:32] Although she draws the line at, quote, far-right conspiracy theorists. [00:08:37] Who's a far-right conspiracy theorist? [00:08:39] These people. [00:08:40] It's like saying, except a white supremacist. [00:08:43] Who are these people? [00:08:47] 1-8 Prager 776. You agree with the thesis? [00:08:50] You have a daughter? [00:08:51] Does it apply to you?
