Dennis Prager Show - How Jesse Watters 'Saved the World' Aired: 2021-07-09 Duration: 08:01 === Number Two Bestseller (02:25) === [00:00:03] Jesse Waters of Fox News, of The Five and of Waters World, is with me. [00:00:12] His book was just published two days ago, How I Saved the World. [00:00:16] And it's a wonderful book, and it's needed some lightness as well. [00:00:24] I mean, it's a lot of thought in it, but it's the lightness with which he carries it out that is worthy. [00:00:31] I know you know this. [00:00:33] I mean, I assume you know this. [00:00:35] How do you explain it? [00:00:37] It'll be fun to get your answer. [00:00:39] It is the second best-selling book in the United States of America of all types on Amazon. [00:00:46] You know who's beating me? [00:00:48] I saw earlier today Reese Witherspoon's book club recommendation is beating me. [00:00:55] Now, Dennis, I have no beef with Reese. [00:00:57] She seems like a very fine woman. [00:01:00] But if you are not a fan of Hollywood, go out and buy my book, How I Saved the World, so we can defeat Reese. [00:01:08] And that is nothing personal, Reese, but this book is much more important than that book. [00:01:14] And I say that without any bias. [00:01:18] My book, believe it or not, Bible commentary, five volumes, third volume is coming out this year. [00:01:27] When the first volume came out, It was number two in the country. [00:01:31] Oh, nice. [00:01:32] Really nice for, I mean, considering the subject. [00:01:35] But I'm only mentioning this because number one, because that's the thing we're most interested in, right? [00:01:41] If you're number two, gee, what's number one? [00:01:44] And clearly, you had the same curiosity. [00:01:48] Mine was a, I think it was a fictional story about a gay frog. [00:01:58] Well, isn't that poetic? [00:02:01] Yes, right. [00:02:03] Bible Commentary 2, K-Frog 1. So right now, I think Bill O'Reilly's Killing the Mob is number one in the New York Times bestseller list. === Would Debate Any Of These Guys (05:47) === [00:02:13] So if I, this Sunday, am able to knock off Bill, my guy, that would bring this thing full circle. [00:02:21] So if you want to see that happen, go to Amazon and make it happen for us. [00:02:25] I don't follow the New York Times bestseller list. [00:02:28] I think it's fraudulent. [00:02:31] So I don't like Amazon for a thousand reasons, but I do believe that their data are accurate on book sales. [00:02:39] Well, Dennis, if I am not number one on the Times list, then I would agree with you. [00:02:43] It is fraudulent. [00:02:44] But if I am number one, totally legit. [00:02:49] I love you for that. [00:02:50] That is such an honest answer. [00:02:52] So a final question. [00:02:54] You had mentioned about meaning, and that is the whole thing, and we're so in sync on that. [00:03:00] So what gives your life meaning? [00:03:04] Well, I happen to be at a job that I love, and I'm so grateful for that opportunity because I know that not everybody in the country has that. [00:03:14] A lot of people go and punch the clock. [00:03:16] It's nine to five, and they have a bad boss, and it's just a paycheck. [00:03:21] I don't know. [00:03:22] I got fired from about five jobs before I landed at Fox. [00:03:26] I got fired as a waiter. [00:03:28] I got fired as a bellman. [00:03:30] I got fired in the financial services industry. [00:03:33] Apparently, you have to have a basic grasp of arithmetic to handle millions of dollars of other people's money. [00:03:40] I landed at Fox. [00:03:42] I was actually before Fox at the Pataki re-election campaign, Republican here in New York, and we had a returning general candidate who was running against Eliot Spitzer, who was the original Love Gov. [00:03:53] Remember, he was Mr. Black Sox, and I was in charge of opposition research, and apparently I had forgotten and not noticed that he was sleeping with every single prostitute up and down the East Coast. [00:04:09] Many jobs I had had before Fox, I finally got there, and it stuck. [00:04:14] So I love talking about what I believe in. [00:04:18] I love talking about this country. [00:04:20] I'm a people person, so I also hit the streets and talk to the folks and hear what they have to say and then communicate that energy on air from the studio. [00:04:30] And I just care so much about this country that I don't want to see it hurt. [00:04:35] I want to see it continue to thrive. [00:04:38] And that's why I'm in the arena of ideas. [00:04:41] We've got to debate this and persuade people. [00:04:43] And I love persuading people with words, but also with humor. [00:04:47] And also with ridicule. [00:04:50] Because it's a very powerful and potent item. [00:04:54] And you remember Jon Stewart Dennis used to just totally ridicule Republicans for that run he had. [00:05:00] And it was so effective that Republicans were running scared. [00:05:04] But when you're a conservative with a sense of humor, Democrats don't like that. [00:05:09] They police humor because they understand the power of ridicule, and they're experts. [00:05:13] And if you shatter their credibility, that can really hurt their control. [00:05:20] And it also humanizes the conservatives and makes them likable. [00:05:24] Democrats don't want us to be likable. [00:05:26] They want to dehumanize us because it's easier to destroy someone who's subhuman, and that's why. [00:05:32] They try to cancel us because they don't think we deserve to be able to put food on our table to feed our family. [00:05:38] So this is the action that I'm involved in, and I love it, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. [00:05:45] Nice. [00:05:46] I have one more. [00:05:48] I said I had one more. [00:05:49] I have one more after my one more. [00:05:53] I have a feeling I know your answer, so I'm not asking it for your answer, but for a follow-up. [00:06:00] Would you debate Chris Cuomo? [00:06:04] I would. [00:06:05] I wouldn't know what I'd get out of it, because I'm not going to change his mind, so it would just be kind of a prize fight. [00:06:16] But if the price is right... [00:06:19] Well, the reason I asked it is, I would debate any of these guys, but my belief is... [00:06:29] None of them would debate us. [00:06:31] Right. [00:06:33] That's the point that I was driving at. [00:06:36] That they are afraid to debate us, but it is not reciprocal. [00:06:42] The reason for that is because we're on with the facts. [00:06:47] And they're not. [00:06:48] The facts are not on their side. [00:06:50] So they're not used to having guests come on their show and defend their ideas with facts. [00:06:56] But that's what we do here at Fox. [00:06:58] That's what you do on the radio and on your podcast. [00:07:01] And that's why people come to people like us, because they want to know the reason behind why they feel the way they do. [00:07:09] And it makes them feel secure in their belief system that their beliefs are based on reality. [00:07:17] And it's very hard to argue with someone that has a reality that backs them up, because, you know... [00:07:25] You can say pretty much anything you want. [00:07:27] You can say Republicans are defunding the police. [00:07:29] You can say there's not a crime wave. [00:07:31] You can say all these things, but if no one's calling you out, then it's just a lie, and it's easy, and it's an easy lie, and they get away with easy, cheap lies on the other side, and that does a great disservice to the country. [00:07:47] All right, everybody, let's move the book to number one, How I Saved the World. [00:07:52] Jesse Waters. [00:07:53] It's great to talk to you, Jesse. [00:07:55] You're the best, Dennis. [00:07:56] Thank you, and I love your audience. [00:07:58] Thank you. [00:08:00] All right.
