Dennis Prager Show - Dennis Speaks About Shadi Hamid a Leftist Writer Aired: 2021-06-26 Duration: 05:37 === A Trump Rally's Focus (03:41) === [00:00:01] They make this up. [00:00:03] The man has read the New York Times too often. [00:00:06] This guy Shadi Hamid. [00:00:08] What is he talking about? [00:00:11] You believe that 80 million Americans or whatever the number was that voted for Donald Trump are into a Trump-centric ethno-nationalism? [00:00:20] What the hell is that anyway? [00:00:26] You think that the average Trump voter did not ache? [00:00:30] To have non-whites in their movement? [00:00:35] I tell you, I ache to have this man on the show. [00:00:40] It'll show he has character. [00:00:42] Because almost every leftist ever invited never comes on. [00:00:47] For good reason, from their perspective. [00:00:51] Because they have no answers to very, very... [00:00:54] Politely asked questions, like the one of my piece this week. [00:00:58] If America is systemically racist, why have millions of blacks moved here in the last three decades? [00:01:06] Four or five decades. [00:01:08] Why? [00:01:09] They have no answer. [00:01:12] Okay, back. [00:01:13] So this is his view of the right. [00:01:17] Ethnocentric, excuse me, ethno-nationalist Trump-centered people. [00:01:23] Who still drape themselves in some of the trappings of organized religion? [00:01:28] What does that mean? [00:01:32] That means some of them are Christian? [00:01:35] God, Jews like me must drive them crazy. [00:01:37] You know, a third of the Jews in the United States, it's little, but it's not tiny, voted for Donald Trump. [00:01:44] I guess they didn't think it was an ethno-nationalist, Trump-centric movement. [00:01:52] Donald Trump's boisterous rallies were more focused on blood and soil than on the Son of God. [00:02:03] Whose political rallies since World War II was focused on the Son of God? [00:02:10] This is what goes for thoughtful writing, and this guy is better than almost anyone at the Atlantic. [00:02:16] The Atlantic is a rag sheet. [00:02:18] But it's a sophisticated sounding rag sheet, so they're all impressed with one another. [00:02:26] This is what they write. [00:02:28] What kind of line is that? [00:02:32] Blood and soil? [00:02:34] Blood and soil is a Nazi... [00:02:36] It's a Nazi... [00:02:37] It comes from the Nazis, by the way. [00:02:39] The German Nazis. [00:02:41] What blood and soil is he talking about? [00:02:46] And this is their best. [00:02:48] This is the best the Atlantic has to give. [00:02:50] He has actually some thoughtful lines in here. [00:02:54] A Trump rally was more focused on blood and soil than on the Son of God. [00:03:00] 99% of the readers of this who read the Atlantic thought, wow, that is profound. [00:03:08] Wow. [00:03:11] God, I hadn't thought of it that way. [00:03:15] Trump himself played both savior and martyr, and it is easy to marvel at the hold that a man so imperfect can have on his soldiers. [00:03:26] So you marvel at it. === Character Over Cancer (02:08) === [00:03:28] Really? [00:03:29] Well, I agree with soldiers, because we are fighting a war for the Western world. [00:03:34] That is correct. [00:03:34] I acknowledge. [00:03:36] I am one of those soldiers. [00:03:37] I agree. [00:03:38] And we do not ask about the character qualifications of our generals. [00:03:43] We ask whether we can win the war against those destroying Western civilization. [00:03:48] That is correct. [00:03:50] Would I like a man who was even better individually? [00:03:55] Sure. [00:03:56] Does it matter to me? [00:03:58] Very, very minimally, even though character is the most important thing to me in general. [00:04:05] That is the reason I raised my kids, telling them almost daily, I don't give a damn what college you get into. [00:04:12] I don't even give a damn if you go to college. [00:04:15] I only care about your character. [00:04:17] That is how I raised my boys. [00:04:19] So I'm pretty character-centered. [00:04:23] But my boys are not my president. [00:04:26] Get it? [00:04:30] I'll give you a baseball analogy. [00:04:31] How about that? [00:04:32] A sports analogy. [00:04:34] I gave medical analogies, in fact, throughout the Trump era. [00:04:41] You have two surgeons, one a man of impeccable character and one of dubious character. [00:04:48] The one with dubious character is known to be the best surgeon for pancreatic cancer that we have. [00:04:56] You have pancreatic cancer. [00:04:59] Would you choose the one with the impeccable character or the one with the great record? [00:05:04] And operating on pancreatic cancer. [00:05:07] So those of you who delude yourselves into thinking character is the only criterion, you are deluded. [00:05:14] You desire to be deluded like my last caller, a sweet man in Chicago who understandably lost a lot of his friends. [00:05:22] They didn't realize how foolish their dear, dear friend was. [00:05:27] Still preoccupied with Donald Trump's character rather than the fate of America. [00:05:34] I care about America not Trump.
