Dennis Prager Show - Lee Habeeb's "The Streets Were My Father" Aired: 2021-06-02 Duration: 04:11 === God's Solution (03:24) === [00:00:00] His latest is to produce this film, The Streets Were My Father. [00:00:05] And again, my friends, fatherlessness is the greatest contributor to crime, and God is the greatest solution. [00:00:16] And if you're an atheist, you should be as firmly on board as any religious person. [00:00:25] Because the issue isn't whether or not you have faith, it's whether or not you... [00:00:29] Acknowledge the truth. [00:00:30] Even if you think God is a magical potion, let us say somebody developed a magical potion and it solved most people's worst problems. [00:00:42] Addiction of any type. [00:00:46] And violence. [00:00:48] Let's say it did. [00:00:49] Wouldn't you advocate taking the magical potion? [00:00:53] So you were saying, Lee Habib, That just as the church is led in the anti-abolition, in the pro-abolition, anti-slavery movement, they should lead in, and then I have to cut you off for a break. [00:01:08] Go ahead. [00:01:10] Indeed. [00:01:11] Look, it's up to us, and we can complain, but we're not complainers. [00:01:15] I mean, we're doers. [00:01:16] And the American church needs to grow, and it needs to grow by radical acts of love. [00:01:22] And when people see those radical acts of love, and you'll see them in this film, you'll see radical acts of love so beautiful. [00:01:28] A father forgiving the guy who killed his son and telling that guy he's his son because he knew that kid never had a father, the kid who shot his own son. [00:01:37] And when you see radical acts of love and godliness, it makes you want to be godly. [00:01:41] It makes you want to think about God. [00:01:43] And it is an answer to your problem. [00:01:45] And faith has always been the bulwark of American liberty. [00:01:49] Liberty without faith is licentiousness. [00:01:52] And the abolition movement, the civil rights movement, was led not just by Dr. Martin Luther King, but remember he was Reverend King and his daddy was a pastor. [00:02:00] That civil rights movement was led by the cross and led by great Jewish and Christian religious leaders fighting for real justice, God's justice, not social justice, God's justice. [00:02:13] And they're very different. [00:02:15] They're very different things. [00:02:18] Powerful stuff. [00:02:22] It's interesting. [00:02:23] It's a separate discussion for another time. [00:02:25] If my child were murdered, would I embrace his murderer? [00:02:33] I don't think I'd have that in me. [00:02:37] But it doesn't mean anything. [00:02:38] I'm just being open with you. [00:02:40] I would say this, Dennis. [00:02:41] The alternative is to be consumed by bitterness. [00:02:44] And then you let the person who murdered your son own you. [00:02:47] And in this respect, it's not that you're forgiving him. [00:02:50] But you're letting go of it yourself, and it's very powerful for you and for that person. [00:02:56] In any event, I'm just emoting with you, but your message is truly of overwhelming significance, and this is the type of film we need. === Handing Hope (01:01) === [00:03:11] So it is now available at SalemNow.com, is that correct? [00:03:17] That's correct, and I'm hoping particularly people of faith, This is a great proselytizing tool. [00:03:22] We need people to join our churches. [00:03:24] And if you simply hand this disk, buy some disks, and hand them to people without fathers. [00:03:30] Hand them to strangers who may not believe in the power of God. [00:03:34] And it's not going to be you proselytizing or you testifying. [00:03:38] It's going to be these three men. [00:03:40] And they're weeping in this film. [00:03:42] And these are tough men. [00:03:43] And these are gangsters and murderers. [00:03:45] But they're human beings. [00:03:47] And there was a reason that they became the way they became. [00:03:50] And you'll find that out, and you'll discover the power of God to transform a life. [00:03:56] And by buying this at SalemNow.com, buy a few discs. [00:04:00] Buy ten. [00:04:01] Hand them out to people through the year. [00:04:03] And you'll get a thank you from those people, I promise you. [00:04:06] You'll get a thank you. [00:04:07] I agree. [00:04:09] Keep up the great work, Lee Habib.
