Dennis Prager Show - "He cannot revive her from coma without her consent!" - Breaking down the Snow White controversy Aired: 2021-05-07 Duration: 09:09 === Prince Charming's Problematic Kiss (03:45) === [00:00:01] Snow White is facing backlash over Snow White and Prince Charming's kiss while she's asleep. [00:00:11] The classic Disney story goes like this. [00:00:14] Snow White is poisoned by an evil queen and falls into a comatose state. [00:00:19] That is until Prince Charming's true love's kiss breaks the spell and they live happily ever after. [00:00:29] SFGate. [00:00:30] Is that the San Francisco Chronicle? [00:00:34] Managing editor. [00:00:36] Managing editor of a major city newspaper. [00:00:40] Get that? [00:00:42] And reporter Julie Tremaine wrote an article explaining while the ride itself is really good, the famous kiss is problematic. [00:00:55] Dowd and Tremaine argue Prince Charming is shown kissing Snow White without her consent, and it, quote, cannot possibly, unquote, be true love. [00:01:06] It's hard to understand why the Disneyland of 2021 would choose to add a scene with such old-fashioned ideas of what a man is allowed to do to a woman. [00:01:19] Dowd and Tremaine wrote in the article, Yes, can you imagine that? [00:01:27] He cannot revive her from coma without her consent. [00:01:35] What a lowlife, Prince Charming. [00:01:38] If that's not rape culture, I don't know what is. [00:01:43] For anybody who ever says the world would be better if it were governed by women, just look at what left-wing women are doing to the society at this time. [00:01:53] And I think you'll revamp your theory on that. [00:01:57] Both sexes are capable of destroying society in their own ways and in the same ways. [00:02:05] These are two fools who work at the San Francisco Chronicle. [00:02:09] Two childish, afraid of life, joyless human beings. [00:02:15] And of course Disneyland will undoubtedly cower to them. [00:02:23] Chris Charming gives her a kiss while she's in a coma. [00:02:29] By the way, let's say they were married. [00:02:36] Why isn't that, according to the editors of the San Francisco Chronicle, date rape? [00:02:42] No, excuse me, marital rape. [00:02:45] You shouldn't be able to kiss your wife when she's in a coma. [00:02:50] Correct? [00:02:52] Didn't get her consent? [00:02:56] I think everybody should have like a living will. [00:03:00] Should I be in a coma, I give my husband permission to kiss me. [00:03:11] Right. [00:03:12] Especially if that brings me out of the coma. [00:03:18] The criticism follows changes to other Disney Park rides deemed offensive and racist. [00:03:25] Splash Mountain will be replaced with a ride featuring The Princess and The Frog, a 2009 animated film featuring Tiana, the studio's first black princess. === Society's Hammer Blows (02:18) === [00:03:39] Last June, Splash Mountain's storyline was adapted from the 1946 movie Song of the South, which was found to have racist undertones. [00:03:48] But what exactly was wrong? [00:03:50] I have no idea. [00:03:51] Do you know? [00:03:51] Do you know anything about Splash Mountain? [00:03:57] An old Goldrush rollercoaster ride. [00:04:00] And liberals still think that the enemy of the society is the right. [00:04:11] Thank you. [00:04:14] There is literally nothing the left can do. [00:04:19] I would have them realize that they're destroying society. [00:04:22] It just happens one hammer blow at a time. [00:04:30] You know, it's not only joyless. [00:04:33] There is another aspect that I have often mentioned about the left. [00:04:38] They are scared. [00:04:42] Is it any wonder that there is such a division between left and right with regard to masks? [00:04:47] With regard to COVID in general, about the fear of getting sick and dying, the left fears life and death more. [00:04:57] This is fear. [00:05:01] Oh my God, a man may do this. [00:05:08] Let's protect ourselves. [00:05:11] So what will you have left? [00:05:14] What they want is a risk-free society. [00:05:18] Get it? [00:05:20] These spoiled brats of the left want a risk-free society. [00:05:29] You cannot fail. [00:05:31] That's why they devised trophies for participating. [00:05:35] Just always feel good and safe. === Disney's Dilemma (03:32) === [00:05:38] Safe. [00:05:39] Be safe. [00:05:40] When did Americans ever say, be safe? [00:05:45] Be safe. [00:05:47] You want a safe life? [00:05:49] It's not worth living. [00:05:55] Another popular ride, the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland and Disney World was critiqued for its depiction of indigenous people. [00:06:03] And Disney announced early this year the attraction would be updated. [00:06:10] I have no idea. [00:06:11] Do you know anything about indigenous people on the Jungle Cruise? [00:06:18] They're statues of native people. [00:06:22] Not everyone agrees with the criticism, this is again from the USA Today article, surrounding the Snow White ride. [00:06:31] Fox News host Todd Pirro. [00:06:34] Shared his take on Monday. [00:06:36] He said Prince Charming's kiss on a poisoned Snow White was comparable to someone needing CPR. Sounds right to me. [00:06:46] He revived her. [00:06:53] Well... [00:06:54] Let me just say this. [00:06:58] Should I ever be in a coma? [00:07:00] Sean, you have permission to kiss me. [00:07:03] Just for the record. [00:07:07] I don't think anybody is looking at the Prince Charming Kiss of Snow White and saying, boy, that's a microcosm of date rape culture in college. [00:07:16] I'm not saying that date rape culture in college is a positive thing. [00:07:19] You see what you have to add all the time? [00:07:23] I have a little daughter right upstairs here in my home. [00:07:26] Absolutely don't want that. [00:07:28] But let's disaggregate this. [00:07:31] This is a cartoon. [00:07:33] This is a fable for many, many years. [00:07:36] It is not what we all fear as dads of daughters. [00:07:41] While some saw nothing wrong with the kiss, it led other families to feel uneasy. [00:07:47] When Disneyland's doors reopened on April 30th, following a 400-day closure due to the COVID pandemic, Amanda Cruz said she and her 8-year-old son were among the first in line to enter. [00:08:02] Although an avid Disneyland goer, Cruz, said Snow White and Pris Charming's kiss led to an uncomfortable conversation with her son. [00:08:13] It did? [00:08:17] Well, I actually have a theory on the uncomfortable conversation. [00:08:22] I don't know if I should share it. [00:08:26] Like, how did I get you as a mother? [00:08:30] That was just dark humor, folks. [00:08:32] Just dark humor. [00:08:35] Cruz said he asked her, why did they only kiss when she was asleep? [00:08:41] I don't believe it. [00:08:44] No eight-year-old boy in the history of humanity would have asked that question. [00:08:48] I don't believe it. [00:08:51] She noted 2021 is the year topics of consent and racism are discussed at home. [00:08:57] Poor kid. [00:08:58] But not reflected in amusement parks. [00:09:01] See? [00:09:01] This woman would like amusement parks to politicize. [00:09:05] Of course. [00:09:06] There's no safe space. [00:09:07] That's the irony.
