A good Tuesday to you, my dear friends.
I'm Dennis Prager.
I'm going to go straight to my guest.
My guest is one of those for whom the phrase needs no introduction is appropriate.
Bill O'Reilly, best-selling author, legendary media figure.
Website is BillOReilly.com.
His new book is Killing the Mob, The Fight Against Organized Crime in America.
He has a series of killing books, and they are remarkable in that they are fact-filled, yet compelling, and very objective.
So they're truly, I hesitate to say popular history at their best, because popular makes it sound like it's not serious.
But it's serious, popular history.
How's that, Bill O'Reilly?
Well, you could use these in PragerU, right?
They'd make the cut.
Yes, that was a good response.
Yes, they will be in Mob 102. This will be the required text.
This is the 10th in the series, the selling non-fiction book series of all time.
And I appreciate the kind words, Dennis.
That means a lot coming from you.
That's very kind.
Say that again.
This is the best-selling what?
Non-fiction book series of all time.
18 million copies in print.
That's astonishing.
Wow.
I'm shocked.
We've done very, very well with these books.
Well, you deserve to.
They're really good.
But it also shows another thing.
There is a real hunger for real history.
Oh, absolutely.
You know, it's funny because Santorum got in trouble by miscategorizing Native American culture, and my last book was Killing Crazy Horse, and we talked about it on your show.
And we're approaching 600,000 in sales, and there were no bookstores open.
So you're absolutely right.
That Americans, in particular, want to know about their country in an honest way.
They don't want the propaganda.
They don't want the filter of ideology.
And that's what we give them.
That's right.
I just want to say that in Killing Crazy Horse, one is left with a very somber view of how the American Indian was treated.
This is not sugar-coated history.
I just want my listeners to know that.
Yeah, I'm in business to tell the truth on radio, on television, and in print.
And that's what I've always done.
I think that's why I've been successful in all venues.
Because now more than ever, more than ever in this country, people need to know the fact-based truth.
Because the corporate media, which runs, what, 90% of what we see and hear, is lying.
Almost on a daily basis.
Because it's run by...
Venal people who are crazed with ideology still want to make money.
They absolutely want to make money above all.
But they're willing to do pretty much anything.
There are no standards left in journalism or reportage.
And so, you know, I'm carved out that niche.
I'm going to keep it until the day I die.
How do you come upon a topic?
Well, if you look at all of my books, we started with Killing Lincoln, and if you read them all, You will know pretty much everything that happened in your country from its inception to today.
So Killing the Mob, we take you from the Depression, Al Capone, John Dillinger, Babyface Nelson, Bonnie and Clyde, and we bring it up to this day, this day that I'm talking to you, Dennis, because organized crime after World War II became the most powerful entity in this country, more powerful in Congress.
More powerful than any corporation.
And for 16 years, it accumulated vast influence in almost every part of our lives.
We're talking labor unions.
We're talking Hollywood.
We're talking sports, professional sports.
They took over an entire country, Cuba.
They built an entire city, Las Vegas.
And they ran wild.
And nobody knows the extent of it.
That's true.
Just listening to you, I certainly didn't.
Is another term for the mob organized crime?
Yes.
They're one and the same.
The mob refers to the mafia.
And the reason that that is so prominent, and I did not know this, even though I wrote a book called Killing Patton, is because in World War II, the mafia helped.
George Patton invades Sicily.
And a deal was made by FDR and Commander-in-Chief Eisenhower that if the mob helped Patton invade Italy through Sicily, that when the war ended, some of the Mafia chieftains could come to the United States.
And that's exactly what happened, and that lighted the fuse of organized crime as we know it today.
It was sort of like, not exactly, but sort of like letting in Nazi scientists after World War II. Yeah, it was a little bit different because it was a definite quid pro quo here, that the mafia did fight the Germans and disrupt the Germans.
In the scientist thing, it was, yeah, you come here, we'll forgive your sins.
But you help us fight the Russians.
That's right, exactly.
So, when you mentioned examples, I didn't follow one of them at all, baseball.
Sports.
Go ahead.
I mean, there was a couple of baseball incidents, but the big one that we have in Killing the Mob is the two fights between Cassius Clay, Muhammad Ali, and Sonny Liston.
Liston threw both fights.
And they were the biggest sporting events in U.S. history up until that point.
And we take you through exactly how that happened.
And it was all generated by organized crime because they were betting on the fights.
And particularly in the first one, Clay was the big underdog.
And the mob made millions and millions of dollars because, listen, through the fight.
When did this come out?
Well, Sports Illustrated did pretty good investigating on it, and we picked up from that.
When?
When was that?
This was in 1962, was it?
Well, wait, that was when the fight was.
When did Sports Illustrated dig up the data?
About ten years later.
Okay, so for ten years, no one knew.
After Liston's death.
After Liston's death.
Oh, fascinating.
Yes.
How much did Liston make?
Unknown.
Sonny Liston dealt only in cash.
So it's still unknown.
And never copped to it, but his wife did, as Will.
He knew.
And we have all of the guys who ran Liston.
It was out of St. Louis.
And it's just fascinating because, again, my books, we don't use anonymous sources.
Everybody is named.
And the dates and everything else.
So you can take it to the bank.
Pardon the pun, that Liston threw those two fights.
Just one more, and this totally fascinates me.
Did Liston make more throwing the fight, or had he won the fight?
Oh, throwing the fight, for sure.
Oh, fascinating.
Because the purses back then were not what they are today.
Did Cassius Clay know this?
Did what?
Did Cassius Clay, Muhammad Ali?
No, no.
He didn't know any of it.
And neither did the Muslims that were running him at the time.
Nobody on the Ali side knew anything about this.
In fact, Ali actually went back to his corner and goes, did I hit him?
Really?
He didn't even know why he went down.
He goes, did I hit him?
He was asking Bundini Brown, did I hit him?
Because listen wasn't exactly subtle about it.
Is it videoed?
Yeah, yeah, there's a video of it.
Oh, I've got to see it.
Now I'm dying to see it.
I want to go through the examples.
So you mentioned labor.
Go ahead with labor.
Well, during World War II, the Italian gangsters in New York controlled the Teamsters.
And they cooperated with Roosevelt, President Roosevelt, in preventing any sabotage by the Germans in New York Harbor.
It was a deal they had.
The deal was organized by Lucky Luciano, who was the big godfather of organized crime in America.
He was in prison.
But they negotiated with him, if you help us, we'll let you out of prison.
And they did, but they deported him right after.
They didn't tell him they were going to deport him, but they did.
Anyway...
All right, hold on with the anyway.
Hold on, remember what you were saying.
Now you know why the books are so riveting.
The book Killing the Mob by Bill O'Reilly, Fight Against Organized Crime in America, up at DennisPrager.com.
This is Ed Morrissey of HotAir.com for Town Hall.
Why would a high-ranking American diplomat alert an Iranian government official about Israeli covert actions?
In a leaked recording between Mohammad Javad Zarif and a political ally, the foreign minister revealed that John Kerry personally informed him that Israel was behind over 200 attacks on its military forces and proxies in Syria.
Zarif professed astonishment at Kerry's tip-off.
No doubt the Israelis are astonished at this as well.
And all Americans should feel the same way.
After years of unfounded accusations about Republican collusion with Russia, we now hear of a prominent member of two Democratic administrations sharing intelligence about our allies' covert operations with a regime that regularly holds Death to America rallies in its capital.
The Biden administration needs to explain Kerry's actions immediately, especially while pursuing pointless negotiations with the puppet government in Tehran.

Thank you.
His use of voice modulation was rather extraordinary given the television era.
And it served as cover at times for...
Unspooling an ambition in this speech that was Rooseveltian in size and scope.
It's really beautiful.
I mean, it was beautiful.
He's developing a kind of positive populism.
He also talked about the soul of America, and that was so passionate when he talked about the injustice, the knee of injustice is on the neck of black America.
His connections to the people in this room, I'm not even sure if all of them are deserving of them, but he does not care.
He gives to them the benefit of the doubt.
And his voice, that kind of grandfatherly, whispery voice, and the fact that it actually wasn't a big raucous crowd, let that intimacy really land.
Every single sentence had a very clear point to it, and every line of it had that Biden humility in it.
He's really trying to bring the country together.
It was a make America feel good night.
Wait a second.
Wasn't that the President of the United States talking?
No, that's what you thought.
In fact, it was Jesus in aviator glasses.
What Joe Biden said last night was beautiful, beautiful.
It was intimate, grandfatherly, indeed Rooseveltian.
So there's a good litmus test with that kind of commentary.
Anybody who tells you that Tucker isn't fantastic and you shouldn't be watching Tucker Carlson, don't trust them.

Thank you.
Hello, everybody.
My guest is Bill O'Reilly.
I'm Dennis Prager.
This latest, this tenth in his book series, Killing, and I highly recommend it.
All of it is riveting.
The title of this one is Killing the Mob, the Fight Against Organized Crime in America.
We were talking about labor.
And you were talking about Lucky Luciano and so on.
Go ahead.
Okay, so organized crime made their big money by infiltrating the labor unions and having access to the pension funds.
This was far beyond what they made from vice, from prostitution, from gambling.
There were no narcotics then.
The mob did not do narcotics until Vito Genovese.
Perhaps the most evil American ever to walk this country, Vito Genovese.
And the labor mobs, they continued under this way, not all of them, but many of them, of organized crime up to this day.
And Jimmy Hoffa was the poster boy for that.
And we walk you through Hoffa's death minute by minute in killing the mob.
So don't believe what you've heard before.
We have it.
And one of the interesting things that I think your listeners might be interested in, Dennis, is that Americans have an image of mobsters, the mafia, in their mind from the movies, from The Godfather, from Goodfellas, from all of these films, and from the gangsters, Bonnie and Clyde, Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway.
They have this image.
When you read Killing the Mob, my book, that image will just blow up.
Evil people.
They cause more destruction in America to this day.
They're behind the opioid epidemic than any other facet of our society.
And that's why I urge people, look, this is going on.
Organized crime exists.
It doesn't exist the same way it used to.
It has changed.
They now franchise out their operations.
But all of this violence that you're seeing, all of the homelessness, all of that stems back to them.
They are an unbelievable power in the world.
It's taking me by surprise.
They are behind the opioid epidemic to this day?
All right.
Are you ready for this, Dennis?
I hope so.
So 100 days ago, The President of the United States, Joe Biden, dismantles the border policy between the USA and Mexico.
We all know that, right?
The result in 100 days, hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals coming into the United States.
What happened there?
Well, the Border Patrol was overwhelmed.
And once the kids and the women got here, somebody had to take care of them.
Who did it?
By doing that, they left the border wide open for narcotic smuggling from the Mexican cartels who control Mexico top to bottom.
Massive amounts of fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine have come into this country since Joe Biden has been president because there's no one there to stop them because they've been overwhelmed by the migrants coming here.
Did you know that?
Nope.
Okay.
The mob, the American mob, the organized crime families have an agreement with the Mexican cartels.
The cartels in Mexico are not allowed to come here.
They are not set up in Los Angeles or Chicago or New York.
The deal is they get the stuff here and then organized crime controls the distribution of narcotics throughout America through Local drug gangs.
So that's why in Chicago, you have murders to the tune of ten every night.
They're being done by the local drug gangs killing each other for turf.
All of these local drug gangs selling narcotics in major cities of America have to pay vig, vigorous tribute, to the organized crime chieftains Who are living in Santa Monica, Westchester, New York, and other suburbs in big mansions.
And every month, they get suitcases full of cash from these drug gangs because they allow these drug gangs to deal on the street.
Do you know any of that?
No.
Are these kingpins generally Italian, or now it's diverse?
Yes.
It's still Italian-run, but not exclusively.
So when you're repealing the mob, you'll see the alliance that the Jewish gangsters, Meyer Lansky, Bugsy Siegel, made with Vito Genovese, Lucky Luciano.
They made alliances.
Some of those alliances exist today.
It depends.
But it's not an exclusive Italian club.
Let me give your listeners one more.
Remember I Love Lucy?
Of course.
Who was the husband?
The Desi Arnaz.
Sam Giancana, the godfather of Chicago, put a contract out on Desi Arnaz's life.
Hired an assassin, a well-known assassin, to kill him.
Do you know why?
No.
Nobody knows why.
It's broken in killing the mob.
Because Desi Arnaz was producing a program named The Untouchables.
You'll remember that one, right?
Yeah, about the FBI. I didn't know that he was involved in that.
He was the head of Desi Lu.
The Untouchable is a massive hit.
Elliot Ness, Robert Stack played him, and Giancana sent through his fixer, Sidney Korshak, who ran the movie industry in L.A., a note to Desi Arnaz.
He said, look, we want you to put Greek gangsters, not all Italians.
Desi Arnaz wrote a wise guy note back to Sam Giancana and said, what do you want me to make them Jews?
And then the contract was out.
I'm not going to tell you anymore.
But Desi Arnaz came this close to having a bullet in the back of the head.
That's how powerful organized crime was in the 1960s.
So the title of your book, unlike every other one, is not fully accurate.
We haven't killed the mob.
But we did kill them.
It's almost like killing Reagan.
Reagan didn't die, but he came that close.
Bobby Kennedy emerges as the hero of this book.
Because J. Edgar Hoover would not investigate the mob, because the mob had compromising things on Hoover.
Hoover let them run wild.
Okay?
It's painful.
Bobby Kennedy came in, and he really hurt them, and forced them to change their level of operations.
And that's why the title is Killing the Mob.
Well, Bill O'Reilly did another amazing...
Obviously, I have to read it, so I'm a little annoyed at you.
I have no choice.
Bill O'Reilly's book, Killing the Mob, The Fight Against Organized Crime in America.
All I can say is keep it up, Bill.

And Ron DeSantis said yes.
When there is no vision, the people perish.
That's actually a proverb.
And many of these other states had no vision at all whatsoever.

I'm going to say something very provocative that I know is going to get written up on all the Media Matters websites because it's true.
Ron DeSantis is more of a president of this nation than Joe Biden.
Ron DeSantis, I think our...
Thank you.
Ron DeSantis has led the nation in reopening.
This is why, and we were just talking about this last night, we are far surpassing all these economic projections because the reopening is happening quicker than people could have possibly imagined.
It's because of one man, and I'm not discounting the other states that opened alongside of it, but I want you to put yourself in Ron DeSantis' shoes.
Florida is a battleground state.
Florida is a state that had a lot of consequential congressional races.
There was pressure on Ron DeSantis.
Are you going to bring home Florida for Trump?
Now, by the way, Governor Ducey, as we're here live on AM 960, The Answer in Arizona, and Governor Kemp in Georgia, they didn't deliver Georgia and Arizona for Trump.
In fact, they didn't deliver one Republican Senate seat for Republicans.
Ron DeSantis had a lot of pressure, and he could have done the safe and easy thing.
So that Ron DeSantis said, we are reopening, and he got rewarded for that.
Trump won by 400,000 votes in Florida.
More than any other Republican in recent memory.
Maybe people right now are waiting for bold and courageous leadership, not just milk toast, vanilla pandering.

A woman pulled over for using her...
What was it?
For using her cell phone?
I was, by the way, just for the record, a couple of years, a few years ago.
Not a couple, a few years ago.
It was at a red light.
And I was looking at my phone.
And the policeman pulled me over.
All right, anyway, that was what she was being stopped for, just so you'll know.
These, my colleagues confirmed that it is a black woman.
In this case, it is relevant.
Though there's no doubt in my mind that it could have been said by a white woman, but in this case it was.
The whole thing is awful and depressing, but there is a low light, the opposite of highlight moment, that I will italicize for you.
So again, this is a black woman in San Dimas, California.
Is it outside of San Diego?
Or outside of L.A. Anyway, Southern California.
It's where Raging Waters is.
That's so unhelpful, I can tell you.
You are this much away from the punishment room for that utterly irrelevant point.
Okay.
How many people in America know where...
You remind me of my callers.
Hey, where do you live?
Oh, I'm in Hendersonville, Michigan.
Oh, really?
And where is that near?
Oh, Cayetachi.
Ah, thank you.
All right, so again, this woman is pulled over by a policeman.
Here's what his body cam recorded.
You can't use your cell phone while you're recording.
I can record you.
May I have your driver's license?
It's at my apartment.
What's your apartment?
It's at my home.
I'm just taking my son to his parish.
Do you have your driver's license?
I mistakenly left it at home.
Do you have a picture of your driver's license?
Yes, I do.
May I have it?
And can you call your supervisor, please?
I already did.
He's on his way.
Good, because you're a murderer.
Okay.
And so you're giving me a cell phone ticket?
Is that why you're harassing me?
Not harassment.
I am enforcing the law.
I have a right to record the police when they're harassing me.
By all means.
But you can't do it while you're driving.
I wasn't texting or none of that.
And you scared me and made me think you were going to murder me.
Okay.
Well, I'm sorry you feel that way.
Well, that's not just a feeling.
You're a murderer.
Okay.
Can you zoom in on that for me?
Sure.
Thank you.
Perfectly legal.
And I'm a teacher.
That's it.
Hey!
That's the great moment we were waiting for.
This despicable, sick human being is a teacher.
She is sick.
Sick.
And she is a victim of the lies of the left.
You're a murderer.
Yeah.
That's right.
Just think of that.
A cop pulls over a black and...
And you're dead.
This is what the media, the despicable, lying, hate-filled, divisive media produce.
Do you know how many interactions, the millions of interactions between police and blacks and others in this country?
Is, by the way, how many examples are there of wrongful Homicide by a police officer with a cooperating black human being.
How many?
Is it zero?
Is it one?
You say it's zero.
I think it's zero, but maybe one.
I don't know.
But if you show the George Floyd thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over, then you are telling blacks what this sick teacher, this woman teaches children.
You're a murderer.
I'm a horror.
Why is that different from the N-word?
Why is calling every policeman a murderer more morally acceptable than the N-word?
Why aren't they both despicable?
Do they have an answer to that?
1-8 Prager 776. 877-243-7776.
And I'm perfectly legal, and I'm a teacher.

And I believe it.
I believe she is a teacher.

The party has lurched so far left.
I mean, Joe Biden is a husk.
I don't know who is controlling the nation.
But if Joe Biden 30 years ago were president, it would actually be a moderate Democrat.
What we have now is so far left that I can't imagine that most Democrats who really understand what is going on would be for what's happening.
Well, look, there was a vote the other day in the Senate and the Republicans tried to add an amendment saying that any university that discriminates in admissions against Asian Americans will use, lose funding.
Every single Democrat voted against that because it was seen as somehow anti-black.
I don't understand how being for Asian Americans is anti-black, but every single American.
A Democrat voted against that and it lost by one by one vote.
How can you vote against a law that says you can't discriminate against Asian Americans?
We have such a long history of discriminating against Asian Americans.
There are now lawsuits involving Yale and Harvard and Princeton who are accused of discriminating in admission policy against Asians in order to raise the number of African Americans.

What we are seeing...
In some cases, refugees who are leaving tyranny and big government, they're tired of what's happening in California, in Washington, Oregon, even Colorado, and they're seeking more freedom, and they're coming to Montana.
So the numbers we're looking at suggest the mix might actually be people who are fleeing.

You'll never be white.
Wow.
That's what the police have to put up with a lot, I'm sure.
So I read to you yesterday the murder rates in Minneapolis, and St. Paul for that matter, the highest in recorded history.
Thanks to the left, entirely thanks to the left, 100%.
And the media, Minneapolis Star Tribune is partially responsible here.
Nobody calls them out on it.
Nobody in the mainstream media, because the mainstream media is an organ of the left.
But people are starting to fight back.
What happened in Texas that I mentioned to you yesterday, the election for school board, 70-30 for the anti-woke activists.
You fight, you win.
Sometimes you lose.
Every battle is not...
You win in the collective.
You've got to come out of the closet.
That's the least you can do.
Come out of the closet.
100 million Americans are in the closet.
It's a very full closet.
You come out, you find kindred spirits.
And you save this country from the left.
The hate-filled, hate-inducing, racist left.
You're a murderer.
All I can say is, among other things, that's not all I can say, I've said a lot.
I pity the son.
Hey, that officer's here to kill us.
Kid's five years old.
That's got to have an effect.
That's traumatic.
Your parent says to you, we're going to be killed.
What a sick woman.
Wow.
Pomona, California in Albert.
Hello.
Hi, how are you doing?
Good morning, Dennis.
Thank you.
Yeah, clearly she's a liar, because if she really was afraid of him, why would she be trying her very best to provoke him?
My dear friend, that is one of the most intelligent calls I've received.
in my career.
That's such a great point.
I'm reveling in it.
That's right.
So, I just want you to know...
She clearly doesn't have fear of the police.
Yes, exactly.
Of course.
Great, great point.
Jeff in Los Angeles, hello.
Yeah, so I have a few comments on this.
First of all, this woman is obviously frustrated and upset that she got a ticket, and so she's lashing out.
And she's lashing out in a way that she feels like will hurt the officer or will upset him because she's getting a ticket and she's upset that she got the ticket, probably more upset with herself.
But my bigger concern is you yourself, I have no idea.
Okay.
I will tell you that I'm pretty sure that this is not how it happens.
The vast majority of times when African Americans are pulled over by police.
Okay?
So, singling this one episode out...
As somehow representative of African American interaction with police is only done to push a narrative.
Wait, what is the narrative?
That somehow this is the prevailing sentiment among African Americans that they hate police, that they're against police.
You know what?
Listen, this will surprise.
What African Americans are against.
What African Americans are against.
is a lack of police accountability when situations go awry.
And one other point, if you want to know what privilege looks like, and Adam Carolla wants to know what privilege looks like, what privilege looks like is, from Bill O'Reilly's book, you get to be a drug dealer who lives in a mansion in Santa Monica while...
All right, I don't know what that has to do with anything but your first point has some validity Don't you get tired of commercials screaming at you to buy gold now with inflated promises on future values and

Democrat.
I don't understand how being for Asian Americans is anti-black, but every single American Democrat voted against that, and it lost by one vote.
How can you vote against a law that says you can't discriminate against Asian Americans?

I do, but here's an interesting phenomenon, Hugh.
What we are seeing is, in some cases, refugees who are leaving tyranny and big government.
They're tired of what's happening in California, in Washington, Oregon, even Colorado.
And they're seeking more freedom, and they're coming to Montana.

This will sound like I'm bragging and I don't care.
But I just want to note that it is exceedingly easy for me to say I was wrong.
I wasn't wrong, but I was prepared to acknowledge that this man had a point.
I didn't debate him.
But in general, that's why, one of the reasons my books are so effective, Is that I have people critique it seriously.
And I have no issue with saying, boy, you made a better point.
That is a better point.

And you're on your cell phone or whatever else is preoccupying you.

Happens to most people.
So the person behind you hunks.
Do you just move your car or even gesture, I'm sorry, or do you give them the finger?
You flip them off.
And the latter group, it's a very unfortunate part of human nature, the inability to acknowledge that the person who honked was right.
It's a very...
The world would be a better place if people could acknowledge when they're wrong.
There's a very important piece in the New York Post.
CDC's cruel, irrational guidance traps our kids in the forever pandemic.
Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a fresh set of guidelines for summer camps.
Like much of the CDC's guidance, this latest was a bunch of irrational nonsense.
The camp guidance, clearly written by someone who has never attended summer camp and isn't even mildly aware of what goes on there, suggests kids be separated by three feet at all times and six feet when they're eating.
How many incidents do we have of young people being hurt by COVID? How many have died of COVID? Fewer than the flu.
What we have done to children, what the experts...
I should write a column on good things, good lessons to learn from the last year.
One of them would be that you need contempt for the term experts.
Contempt.
As soon as they give advice...
You must assume they're a fool.
I don't know why.
Well, I do know why.
I take it back.
Experts confuse expertise with wisdom.
They are not related, and so you are likely to get advice from a fool who happens to be an expert in some narrow arena of science, or whatever it might be.
The Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces is a civilian, one who may have never even served in the Armed Forces.
He's called the President of the United States.
That's why they salute him.
He is above every general.
Why did we have that done?
Why aren't experts on the military in charge of the military?
That was the brilliant insight of the founders, not to allow that.
But we allow it in medicine.
The CDC maintains that vaccinated adults who work at these camps should continue to be masked.
And of course, kids should wear masks too.
Why would you send your kid to a camp where they had to be masked?
It's unfair to your kid.
The CDC is a crappy organization.
I am telling you, I've never said this.
This is all new, do you understand?
I never, ever thought this way.
It's painful to realize the CDC is morally and intellectually worthless.
Worthless.
Worse than worthless.
Damaging.
The medical establishment has disgraced itself over the course of the last year.
Not just the CDC. These people making these absurd calls will be sitting in air-conditioned offices while your children and their underpaid counselor will be needlessly sweating under their masks, playing color war in 90-degree weather.
Don't listen to them.
Also last week, the CDC finally released updated guidance for vaccinated people.
Vaccinated people, except apparently summer camp counselors, can now dine outdoors and gather maskless in small groups outside.
Most sane people have been doing this for a while.
Yep, like me from the very beginning.
Last Sunday, national virus guru Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNN, the risk when you're outdoors...
Which we have been saying all along is extremely low.
All along?
Ha!
Ha!
Oh my God, what a lie.
And the writer in the New York Post says, they've been saying that all along?
No, of course they haven't.
In fact, Fauci has said many times the importance of masking even outdoors.
Who could forget him standing on a pitcher's mound last spring, 90 feet from the nearest person still wearing his mask?
Remember that?
Yeah.
That's why it's so important to now tune out Fauci and the CDC. Their misinformation and constant flip-flops are causing a societal harm.
Don't believe it?
Last Friday, CDC boss Dr. Rochelle Walensky said the CDC recommends that...
Pregnant people receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
On Monday, the CDC seemed to walk back her comments, noting the agency's recommendation remains simply that pregnant people are eligible and can receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
Why would she, by the way, notice pregnant people?
Notice that?
How sick?
How sick the leftist germ is?
It's pervasive?
The head of the CDC will not say pregnant women.
Did you notice that?
Pregnant people.
Yes, including men.
Pregnant men or women.
Why didn't she say that?
Because the calls to have her removed from her position would be quite loud and numerous.
So she sneaked in.
Pregnant people.
It would be laughable if it were not so dangerous.
Pregnant people.
CDC uses that terminology.
And you want to take advice from them?
Doesn't that automatically make Rochelle Walensky a fool?
What is a fool?
A fool is the opposite of a wise person.
They are more dangerous than anyone else.
Fools are the most dangerous group.
Oh, what was the...
Oh, somebody gave me the line about God creating so many of something.
Maybe my wife will remember this one.
I wanted to bring it to your attention.
Let me tell you a stupid flaw in my life.
I hear a great line and I think I'll remember it instead of writing it down.
That's just stupid of me.
All right, anyway, I will continue with this, with how the CDC is damaging people.
By the way, if you're pregnant, I don't think you should take the vaccine.
Well, why can't you wait a few months?
We'll be back.
I'm Dennis Prager.
This is Albert Moeller for townhall.com.
The editorial board of the Los Angeles Times has put forward a horrifyingly honest argument about abortion.
The headline it ran was this.
The right to an abortion means the right to have it for any reason.
They intend for abortion to be available for any reason, at any time, or for no reason.
Their focus was a law passed in 2017 by the legislature in Ohio, a law that seeks to prevent abortion on the grounds that the unborn baby has been diagnosed with Down syndrome.
The editorial board of the Los Angeles Times is saying that it is wrong to try to protect unborn babies that are diagnosed with Down syndrome by such a law.
Why is it wrong?
Because, says the editorial board, it interferes with what is a greater good than human dignity in the womb.
And that means a woman's absolute autonomy.
And what the paper claims is her constitutional right to destroy the life within her.
Like I said, this editorial is honest.
It's also horrifying.

Some of us that are conservatives have hoped, I think it was a false hope, that at some point the left was going to stop.
At some point they were going to say, you know what, maybe we've gone too far.
No, this is just the beginning.
This is just the very start of what they plan to do to our nation and to our country.
And Donald Trump, I think, only accelerated a lot of their radicalism.
You see, what they used to hide, what they used to pretend did not exist, they now lead with.
They now say the private part out loud because they know the media will not hold them accountable.
A great example of this.
The Washington Post has now completely disbanded their fact-checking division.
Who needs fact-checking when the Ministry of Truth has taken over the presidency?
Where all they did was fact-check Donald Trump's presidency.
And most of those fact-checks were basically critiques of nuance and context.
They were not things that actually were necessary for massive front-page fact-checking.
But they've disbanded their fact-checking division because who needs to fact-check Joe Biden?
Who they want to be put in place.
But here's the thing that I think that we need to focus on the most, which is every single conservative in the country, and I'm just going to start doing this right after, you know, right after, I'd say late May, early June, which is every single conservative in the country needs to start showing up to these school board meetings.
I think we have the tape here of this group of teachers that showed up, not teachers, this group of parents in Vail, Arizona.
They just showed up to a random school board meeting and took over the school board.
They fired the school board and they said, we're in charge now.

Carol Markowitz in the New York Post about your CDC guidelines to ruin your kid's summer.
All of it utterly irrational.
And then Rochelle Walensky, this spectacular fool who runs the CDC, CDC recommends that pregnant people receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Then they walked it back.
Pregnant people are eligible to receive it.
The agency moved from saying pregnant women should get the jabs to suggesting they could.
And these are our high priests of COVID guidance.
They can't even tell us whether pregnant women should get the vaccine, but we should dutifully listen to them about masking kids who are at minuscule risk from the disease and transmitted at a lower rate.
How low is the risk to kids?
According to the CDC, 266 kids ages 0 to 17 have died of COVID-19.
266. Every single death is a tragedy, but during the 2018-2019 flu season, 477 kids in that age range died of the regular flu.
Why didn't we do anything then?
Where were the CDC guidelines?
That's almost twice as many died of the flu the previous year than of COVID. And they mask two-year-olds on airplanes?
This country has gone crazy, crazy, thanks to medical advice lived by by the left.
Because the left doesn't think clearly.
If you think clearly, you can't be a leftist.
You could be a liberal, you could be a conservative, you cannot be a leftist.
You should be angry at what they have done to children.
Closing their schools?
266 out of the 500,000, 266 died, ages 0 to 17. In 2019, we lost 2,545 kids under 18 to traffic accidents.
776 to drowning.
And a devastating 2,156 to suicide.
That's painful.
I mean, think about that.
Three times as many kids drowned than died by COVID. Why do you take your kids to the beach?
Why do you allow them to buy swimming pools?
Why wouldn't that be considered moronic?
Masks on these kids, that's not moronic.
No school for these kids, that's not moronic.
We understood.
We didn't stop sending kids to school.
We didn't ban cars or swimming pools.
We understood.
Here it is.
Now I know that the writer is not on the left.
We live in a world of risk.
That's right.
Grow up.
We need perspective and fast.
We need to stop listening to an organization that has discredited itself.
The CDC is a science-based organization, Fauci said recently.
They don't want to make any guidelines unless they look at the data and the data back it up.
Okay, show us the data that justify masking kids.
No such data exists.
Last week, Senator Mike Lee, Republican Utah, and Representative Jason Smith, Republican Missouri, sent a letter to the CDC demanding, quote, information on how the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention came to its conclusion that children two years and older should wear face masks.
Lee Smith and 30 other signatories also point out that masking in much of Europe begins around age 11 or 12. There is absolutely no data to support our masking norm beginning at age 2. Europeans don't care about their kids any less than we do.
Let's return our kids to sanity.
Stop masking kids.
Do it now.
Bravo.
Bravo indeed.

We had somebody who was going to challenge me on the use of the term Marxist and socialist.

However, I will still answer it.
The left has become Marxist.
The left, indeed, has become essentially communist.
Not that they believe that the government should own all the means of production.
That is correct.
So, more technically, they're fascist.
They allow private enterprise while they run an anti-democratic regime.
The left is doing everything it can to suppress free speech, to suppress dissent, to censor.
Everything it possibly can.
The left indoctrinates children.
children, the left is expanding government and its debt and cheapening the dollar beyond anything in American history.
And the ever-expanding government is exactly what the left wants.
It controls more of your life.
One of the many divisions of the world, the world is divided between those who wish to control others and those who do not.
I'll bet a lot of you know people in your personal lives who want to control people.
A lot of people are married to a control freak.
That's what they're called, right?
It's a very, very depressing existence to live with someone who wants to control you.
Why isn't it a depressing society when people want to control others?
Do you know what conservatives basically want?
To be left alone.
Why is that asking too much?

It left them alone.

No, that's what you thought.
In fact, it was Jesus in aviator glasses.
What Joe Biden said last night was beautiful, beautiful.
It was intimate, grandfatherly, indeed Rooseveltian.
So there's a good litmus test with that kind of commentary.

We haven't had inflation in so long.
You're not old enough to have bought a house at 12.5% or 13% 30-year interest like I did when my wife and I bought our first house in 1985.
But it is not a good thing.
Inflation is a destroyer of lives.
Well, there's a number of compounding factors here as well.
Not only all the money is being printed, but if you look at the CPI numbers that came out in February, half of the inflationary pressures were energy-related.
And so when you combine the massive spending...
Plus, the Green New Deal that's going to put pressure here on oil, natural gas, just energy prices in general.
This used to be comparative advantage for us here to beat China long-term because of our energy independence.
He is moving us down the path.
You and I remember 1973, dependencies on the Middle East, War of Yom Kippur, oil prices quadruple, a 30-year fixed mortgage, Hugh, in 1981, right when Reagan got on board, was 18.6%.
And we have a generation that does not understand what happens with inflation and interest rates and how that absolutely destroys an economy, frankly, destroys families.
When you look at your colleagues in the Senate dining room, and I've had lunch up there before, and I know you folks all get together and get along fine, and they're Bible studies, and everybody's a human being, and nobody wants to screw up.
Honestly, do they not get that?
Do they not understand what they're unleashing on this country?
And it will destroy poor people.
It's poor people and old people on fixed incomes, especially, who are crushed by inflation.
It worked your whole life to be 80 years old with a pension and happy, and all of a sudden you cannot buy food.
What Biden is doing and the left is absolutely an attack on the working class of this country.

We know exactly what's going on here.
This is the wrong black guy.
He has to be destroyed.
So you'd still like to serve on the same thing?
I'd rather die than withdraw from the process.
Stream on your phone, tablet, or TV. Joe Biden saying a speech about government?
That we're all part of the government?
Something to that effect?
What a sad...
Actually, dangerous idea.
Well, right up my alley here is a brand new book, When Politicians Panicked.
The new coronavirus, expert opinion, and a tragic lapse of reason.
John Tamney writes on economic matters, is the author of this important book, When Politicians Panicked.
John Tamney, welcome to the Dennis Prager Show.
Hey, Dennis, thank you so much for having me on.
Congratulations on the birth of your son, which I see in the opening page.
Yep, he came in right as this was happening, and it's fascinating to think that if he'd come a few weeks later, I would not have been allowed in the delivery room, because, you know, human beings, of course, are a lethal menace to one another, so me being in there would have threatened all manner of people, given.
Where the thought process had gone just in a few weeks in the United States in 2020. We're so aligned on this, so I'll ask you questions that are...
I'll play the Biden line.
Did you catch that line?
It's time to remember that we, the people, are the government.
Imagine that.
That's really something.
Anyway, so we're so aligned.
I wrote in March of last year, got a lot of flack, obviously, is the greatest mistake in human history.
I made clear, not the greatest evil, the greatest mistake.
And I've been vindicated.
Your book is a perfect vindication of it.
Again, folks, it's called When Politicians Panicked.
It's up at DennisPrager.com.
So here's the question.
Why did every politician, including those on the right, Modi in India, Netanyahu in Israel, Trump in America, the only ones that didn't were in Sweden, of all places.
Do you have a theory as to why?
My theory as to why is that politicians exist to do something.
Now they say war is health of the state.
Well, I argue in the book that...
Crises are the state's oxygen.
Politicians live for the chance to save us from ourselves.
Now imagine this in this case.
They said, no, we are going to take away your freedom to reduce pressure on hospitals because if you act freely, you'll do things that will cause you to be hospitalized.
Now the very notion of that defied basic common sense.
I don't know anyone who would engage in behavior.
It associates with hospitalization.
It's just something that we avoid because we have common sense.
Some say to that, okay, but yes, some don't have common sense.
And I'll say precisely, those are the most important people of all when a virus is spreading.
You need to find out what behavior is most associated with getting sick, with being hospitalized.
And so you have to have the people who reject expert opinion, who reject government and politicians.
To find out if by living their lives freely, if their actions associate with bad health outcomes.
Instead, we blinded the population in the name of health.
In the name of health, that is exactly right.
So again, this transcended the left-right difference, even though overwhelmingly the people who feel as you and I do are on the right.
Is that a fair statement?
No, it is.
It's one of these instances in which the people whom we elected lost it themselves.
They panicked themselves.
Donald Trump initially had it correct.
He said, just as Vogue editor Anna Wintour said, that this virus was no big deal.
And then he basically got sucked in by the experts and said, unless you do something, there's going to be millions and millions dead.
Well, again, the very presumption that millions were going to die was all that we needed to know that any governmental response was wholly superfluous.
Because if going out and living your life is associated with death, well, we're naturally going to take precautions.
And what's documented in the book is that in the states that lockdown lasts, you know, the science-denying states, those were the states in which people responded the quickest.
They stopped going out as much.
They started wearing masks.
Whether that made sense or not, they bought hand sanitizer.
They started taking precautions well before politicians took away their freedom, simply because as human beings, we've evolved as a species to protect ourselves.
All right, hold it there.
That's an interesting understanding of what happened.

But look, let's be honest.
The Republican Party and the Democratic Party have changed so dramatically.
I mean, when you talk about the choice between a Nixon and a Humphrey or a McGovern, I don't think there's anything comparable today.
The party has lurched so far left.
I mean, Joe Biden is a husk.
I don't know who is controlling the nation.
But if Joe Biden...
30 years ago were president, it would actually be a moderate Democrat.
What we have now is so far left that I can't imagine that most Democrats who really understand what is going on would be for what's happening.
Well, look, there was a vote the other day in the Senate, and the Republicans tried to add an amendment saying that any university that discriminates in admissions...
My guest, John Tamney, is vice president of FreedomWorks, director of its Center for Economic Freedom, and editor of the terrific Real Clear Markets. - Bye.
So, got a lot of credentials, but credentials don't mean a lot unless you've proven yourself, which he has.
He's done a PragerU video, in fact.
The income inequality is good.
That's exactly right.
So, what is going to happen with the printing of money in unprecedented amounts by the government?
What's going to happen is what always happens.
When politicians engage in the view that wealth can be printed, they print away the very measure that enables wealth creation.
All money is.
It's an agreement about value among producers that allows people to exchange things, and in exchanging things, specializing.
But when money is no longer trusted, we can't trade as much.
We can't divide up work as much.
Hence, our ability to create wealth declines precipitously.
And it's just one of these things that politicians never seem to learn, and a lot of dreamers never seem to learn.
You cannot change reality by changing the value of money.
You can only use money to change reality by moving wealth to its highest use.
So do you foresee a devastating inflation?
Well, I think we already saw it.
I think we saw it in the 21st century.
The year 2000 donned $1, bought 1 260th of an ounce of gold.
And let's never forget that even though we left the gold standard in 1971, it never stopped existing as a measure, as a market signal of government's mismanagement of money.
And so $266 into the year 2000, roughly, by the time George W. Bush left office in 2009, gold was up to roughly $1,000.
During President Obama's presidency, the price of gold rose all the way to $1,900.
Now it's at $1,700.
That's a fairly substantial devaluation of the dollar.
We didn't register and quote inflation in CPI because they've stripped out most of the market goods that signal the inflation the most.
If they measured it the way they did in the 1970s, we would have registered a major inflation in the 21st century.
Are Republicans fighting this?
Not enough.
Republicans buy into it, too.
I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but it's stuff you already know.
Let's never forget that Donald Trump routinely said that other countries were beating us because their currencies were cheaper than ours.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Implicit there is that Mexico's rich and has gotten rich by devaluing the peso.
But so is Argentina.
By devaluing their peso.
No, rich countries protect the value of their money simply because in protecting the value of their money, they're protecting the wealth of their citizenry, the worth of their work.
They're also protecting the investors who commit capital to new ideas.
When you devalue money, what you're saying to the investors who drive all economic growth...
Is that if you commit capital to a new idea and you actually get a return, you succeed, you create a new Google or a Microsoft or an Amazon, any money you get back will come back and devalue dollars.
So currency devaluation is anti-progress.
It's a tax on growth, yet it's hard to find a politician who understands this nowadays.
Well, it seems it's hard to find a businessman who understands this.
Every big business sides with the left.
Yes, certainly some do.
Certainly some make that statement as a way of just making nice with the other side.
But I think businessmen, in a sense, broadly understand it.
Phil Knight of Nike, in his wonderful book Shoe Dog, made the point that when the U.S. left the stability of the dollar as 1 35th of an ounce of gold in the 1970s, suddenly his ability to run Nike...
It became extraordinarily difficult because he was importing most of his shoes from Japan.
And so these floating exchange rates that no one had ever seen before made the ability to do business a much more difficult concept because it rewrote contracts overnight.
It's the robbing of people who want certainty.
Yeah, Nike.
And then look what it ended up doing.
Well, listen.
He wrote a very important book, When Politicians Panic, folks, is up at the DennisPrager.com.
John, I look forward to talking to you again.

Okay, so I am in total agreement with you about the masking, that it's lunacy, but I am so much more concerned about this vaccine.
I've got, my oldest daughter is 19. And I've had a terrible feeling about this vaccine from the beginning, not just because they rushed it through, which they did, but the mRNA is a completely new technology, and it's not even publicized enough that it's a completely new technology.
It's synthetic, it's made from synthetic RNA, and it does go in and program your DNA. Whether or not it's a permanent change or not is yet to be seen.
They say it's not, but we don't know.
These girls, their monthly cycles are pretty universally getting jacked up every time with these kids that are taking it, the younger women that are taking it.
And, you know, my daughter's like, well, it's no big deal.
And they say it's going to be okay, you know.
Well, how do we know?
We have no idea.
There's no long-term studies.
The women weren't warned.
And we just, it makes no rational sense for me for these younger people to get...
That is correct.

I just wanted to talk about the liberal indoctrination of students in universities and based on COVID, how much control they have in our lives.
Students aren't getting to graduate this year for the first time in over 80 years since World War II. The amount of control, I just want to know from you, is there going to be any type of blowback that is going to take these people accountable for...

No plans on getting that.
What about your conservative friends?
Are they going to get a vaccine in order to go to college next year?
No, not at all.
The people that I know that are conservative at my age, they're on the same page as me.
You know, universities are now incentivizing students currently in college to get the vaccine for incentives.
I mean, they're offering money to kids to get these vaccines.
It makes no sense for younger people.

What we are seeing...
In some cases, refugees who are leaving tyranny and big government, they're tired of what's happening in California, in Washington, Oregon, even Colorado, and they're seeking more freedom, and they're coming to Montana.

I don't only mean my broadcast week, I just mean my week.
I have...
I've been preoccupied with ultimate issues since I was in high school.
Isn't it interesting?
All of you, I assume, at some point come to realize, by golly, I have a nature.
Isn't that true?
And part of it is good, part of it isn't good.
You work against the bad stuff, you develop the good stuff, you develop stuff you don't even have.
Well, it's a very important topic we should address once.
It's not my topic.
I'm just using this as a thought experiment or a thought idea for you prior to the topic.
But it's a big issue.
When did you realize your name?
I think in high school for you too, right?
Or certainly college, because when you describe...
What you realized you needed a tremendous amount of self-discipline to succeed in life.
Fifth grade.
Also, I overstated it with high school.
Or understated it.
That's fascinating.
You knew yourself at fifth grade.
I knew my nature.
You knew your nature in fifth grade.
I knew what I had to do.
And you knew what you had to do.
That is so interesting.
You want to say it on the air?
Sure.
Give the gentleman the mic.
This is truly interesting.
We're a little off topic.
I know.
I know we're off topic.
That's the nature of my program.

So I recognized that in fifth grade that I had average intelligence.
That pretty much everything about me was average.
I was an average athlete.
I had average intelligence.

I don't believe that you have average intelligence, but it doesn't matter.
You wouldn't know.
You couldn't know, because I've made up for my average intelligence by working very hard.
Well, I'll tell you this.
It's made me more intelligent.

They could do things that I couldn't do sort of intuitively.
So how do I make up the gap?
There's only one way.
Hard work.
And discipline.
Well, that's all part of it.
Right.
Okay, I really believe your message.
It doesn't matter whether I agree with you on your innate intelligence.
It's completely irrelevant.
It doesn't matter.
What matters is that you get this...
You would do well to get this message to many people, to young people.

Oh, man.
The important and...
something show.
But off-topic.
That's good.
I like that.
You know, Seb Gorka has America First.
I don't have a name for the show.
I haven't had one in 35 years.
Off-topic with Dennis Prager.
That's good.
Yeah, people will stop me and say, you're off topic.
Okay, I like it.
Today's topic, to be on topic, it has nothing to do with what we began with.
And the reason we got onto it, I'm unapologetically telling you, is that ultimate issues have always preoccupied me.
Here's one.
This is a very painful subject.
And the more open you are, the more you will help yourself and help this show and, most important, help the listeners.
It's a religious topic, but not a religious topic, as you will understand.
Did awful things happen to you or to a loved one that shattered you?
Your faith.
Your religious faith.
Or do you know someone to whom this happened?
That is the topic.
That's the on-topic topic.
Do you know someone or are you that person who was a committed religious individual and then something happened?
And you lost your faith, or lost your interest in religion.
You may not have become a full-blown atheist, but I think my point is clear.
This is a topic that I have addressed, but never taken up an hour on.
Because I think that there are people that have a faith in God, Includes God's protection.
And then when something traumatic happens, the person loses their faith.
So not only am I addressing you if it happened to you, but if it happened to someone you know.
I think about this a lot, and I wonder...
What would happen to my faith with some trauma?
Like, I mean, the most obvious, the loss of a child.
Or, you know, if you yourself, well, I mean, if you died at a young age, you can't call me up.
But you are struck down at a young age.
I know a man, a rabbi, who has ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease, as it is often referred to, and all he can do, and he has a perfectly lucid mind, is blink.
That's all that has been left in his mobility.
So he blinks letters onto a screen.
The computer makes those letters into words, and then they're spoken by a computerized voice.
And you can actually have conversations with a person with ALS. I had his wife, actually, on the happiness hour.
I'd like to have her on again, if she's listening.
Or if any of you know her.
Their faith is very strong.
But I've met people who quite openly have said, X or Y or Z happened, and I just abandoned religion.
So if this is you or someone you know, 1-8-Prager-776-877-243.

From colleges to corporations to our culture, people are making money and gaining power by pretending we haven't made any progress at all.
By doubling down on the divisions, we've worked so hard to heal.
You know this stuff is wrong.
Hear me clearly.
America is not a racist country.
Okay, the man is being slammed for saying America is not a racist country.
Kamu Bell says, you know, it depends on how you define racism.
Here's how he defines racism.
I define that as a country that is built on racism.
So yes, I believe America is a racist country because it literally is built on and runs on racism.
America is built on racism and runs on racism.
It's sort of the petrol of America, the fuel of America.
So his definition of racism is America was built on racism and is run on racism, whatever the hell that means.
And the definition given by this gentleman in the Washington Post, quote, it means that we have systems and institutions referring to systemic racism.
It means we have systems and institutions that produce racially disparate outcomes regardless of the intentions of the people who work within them, end of quote.
So if every cop is devoid of racism, but the cops pull over more blacks than they do whites, that's systemic racism.
Even if the cops aren't racist.
Because the outcomes are different.

No doubt the Israelis are astonished at this as well, and all Americans should feel the same way.

Anyway, today's topic on the Ultimate Issues Hour, third hour every Tuesday, is Ultimate Issues Hour, and today's is that something happened that affected your faith, your religious faith.
And this is really important that I have this hour.
It's fascinating here.
It's almost...
Almost everyone is about the loss of a child.
Julie in Dallas, Texas.
Hello.
Hi, Dennis.
Thank you for taking my call.
I've touched on this topic with you before via email.
I did unexpectedly, traumatically lose my second of four sons just a few short years ago.
I don't blame God for it, but I lived a just life.
I believe in justice.
I did the right thing, raised the right way.
I can't thank you enough for opening up to me and to all those listening.
I am in a difficult position, I'm saying to all of you, because I have some answers to that and my fear is that I will sound a little too Unfeeling.
When the whole reason I raise this subject is because of my feeling for people who have suffered.
We've all suffered, but there are, of course, gradations of suffering.
So, my answer to this is a macro answer.
I mean, it has, I guess, of course, it has micro.
I don't know how I would react if I lost a child.
It's so painful I really can't go there.
I can only say that I am, at least, I am intellectually prepared.
For just about anything because I accepted at such a young age the fact that this was not a just world.
My expectations of the world are minuscule.
I think that a lot of things cultivated that in me, not least of which was Being a Jew, born not too long after the Holocaust, I knew from such an early age that so many wonderful human beings,
good people, not only died young, but watched all of their family die young, or die unjustly, in the case of their, let's say, older parents or grandparents.
Entire families were wiped out.
And I knew this.
I remember I was about, I don't know, sixth grade, sitting as the only program that I watched with my parents.
Sunday nights they had a program called The 20th Century with Walter Cronkite, the most famous American news broadcaster, as the moderator or as the emcee.
And they had one on Hitler.
And I remember asking my parents, who's Hitler?
And they said, oh, he murdered six million Jews.
And that started my thinking that never stopped.
Whoa.
A lot of bad stuff.
And then, of course, I realized what the communists did.
Which deserves infinitely more attention than it gets.
My point being, governed as I am, I think atypically, unfortunately, I am governed by reason.
That's why my Bible commentary is called the Rational Bible.
And I have known from such an early age that this is an unjust world.
We should try to make it as just as possible.
That's why I love, not I don't love.
That's why I hate evil.
I fight evil.
But I love justice.
But this is the way it is.
That is why all of my eggs are in, and really the last call alluded to it.
Really, all of my sanity eggs are in the afterlife basket.
I admit it.
I'm mocked for it.
I have a video on the afterlife at PragerU, and I'm mocked for it.
Oh, Prager says that sanity depends on an afterlife.
I don't know why anybody's sanity is not dependent upon an afterlife.
You see all this unjust suffering on this planet, and that's it?
You who don't believe in a just God and an afterlife, you see all this horrible, unjust suffering, and your reaction is, well, that's the way the cookie crumbles.
That's the way the ball bounces.
And that doesn't in some way drive you a little nuts?
I believe in a good God, but I don't believe that God changes the reality here.
He allows it to happen.
If he stopped every bad act, life would be absurd.
We'll be back.

The Republican Party and the Democratic Party have changed so dramatically.
I mean, when you talk about the choice between I don't think there's anything comparable today.
The party has lurched so far left.
I mean, Joe Biden is a husk.
I don't know who is controlling the nation, but if Joe Biden 30 years ago were president, it would actually be a moderate Democrat.
What we have now is so far left that I can't imagine that most Democrats who really understand what is going on would be for what's happening.
Well, look, there was a vote the other day in the Senate, and the Republicans tried to add an amendment saying that any university that discriminates in admissions against Asian Americans will lose funding.
Every single Democrat voted against that because it was seen as somehow anti-Black.
I don't understand how being for Asian Americans.
Is anti-black, but every single American Democrat voted against that and it lost by one by one vote.
How can you vote against a law that says you can't discriminate against Asian Americans?
We have such a long history of discriminating against Asian Americans.
There are now lawsuits involving Yale and Harvard and Princeton who are accused of discriminating in admission policy against Asians in order to raise the number.
Hi, everybody.
I'm Dennis Prager.
They deny that there's a quota system.
If you saw my board of calls, eight lines, the names, cities, topics, that's what I have on them, it would break your heart.
Everyone is the loss of usually a child.
And how it affected their religious faith.
That's the subject of this Ultimate Issues Hour, third hour on Tuesday.
So I will take your calls, obviously.
But I need to say for everybody's sake, religious institutions are doing a disservice to their adherents if they teach them that God will protect them from tragedy.
I have never been taught that.
I have never believed that.
I believe deeply in God.
I think awful things could happen to me or to anybody.
So I think that that's an important thing for pastors, priests, rabbis to understand.
That's not...
What you should be teaching, and I don't think that it is biblically based anyway.
Okay, that's what really I needed to say that.
Okay, Houston, Texas, and Adam, hello.
Hi, Adam.
Hi, Dennis, how are you?
Okay, thank you.
Great.
I lost my son four years ago, and it's less of me struggling about losing my son.
It's been more of a struggle for me to understand what God wants for me now, who He wants me to be.
Why would God want you to be anything different after your son's death than before your son's death?
It's more of a struggle, I think, with my personal perspective of how important it was for me to be a father and a protector.
Right.
And that's shattered.
Right.
Me, I'm trying to understand what, not that he wants me to become anything different, but where can I be to serve and find joy?
Again, I, for the last several years, because it's been four years, struggled with just finding joy in anything.
And so I struggle with that understanding.
Where to find joy and how God can lead me to find that.
You know, you get into very self-destructive patterns after the loss of a child.
At least I did.
Were you married when you lost your child?
I am.
I'm still married.
My wife and I. Did it affect your marriage?
It has.
To some degree, we do the best we can.
We've certainly started foundations, which has been my wife's focus, based on what happened, and that's been a great thing for her and for us to have our foundation to honor our son.
But from a self-assurant pattern, it was me using things that weren't in check in my life and those becoming out of control that I would say affected my marriage and just it was me using things that weren't in check in my life and those becoming out of control that I would say affected my marriage and just
you know, in this life.
Right, right.
Listen, I can't thank you enough for calling.
It couldn't have been easy.
There are at least two possible responses, religious responses.
One is to drop one's faith.
And the other, ironically, is to have even greater faith.
After all, when do you need God as much as when you're suffering?
There was a book written many years ago about the beliefs of Holocaust survivors.
And according to this book, I'm not saying that there's any way to really absolutely know, but the same number of people who went into the Holocaust believing in God came out, and the same number who came in atheists came out.
Not the same people.
Some switched sides.
I'll explain when we get back in the meantime on a far lesser area of pain, but nevertheless real pain is back pain, ankle pain, joint pain, anywhere else.

is they call it a target.
Motionly difficult.
I don't find it intellectually difficult because I've worked this out, I think.
I say I think because I can't say that I've been fully tested.
I fully acknowledge that.
But the topic is, did personal trauma cause you to lose your faith, your religious faith?
And one of my important conclusions very early in life, Was that my vision of God is not that He will protect me from tragedy.
the reason that I evolved that was that I was so aware of all the good people who were hurt the the the biggest being at a very early age just being so aware of the Holocaust It is very important for children to understand that there is evil.
Among other things, they can drop the true idiocy, the dangerous idiocy of belief that people are basically good.
It actually angers me when people believe that.
Because it's so manifestly absurd.
But if we, if people, my answer to all of this is if people followed God's rules, there would be so much less suffering.
People would still die prematurely of disease or of self-inflicted injuries, but not at the hands of others.
My solution to this whole thing is to bring the world to the Ten Commandments, why I work so hard on...
On that subject and on my Bible commentaries.
Wow.
Okay.
Terry in Auburn, Maine.
Hello, Terry.
Hi, Dennis.
I'm very thrilled to have the opportunity to thank you for what you did for me in helping me maintain my faith through my tragedy.
The beginning of coronavirus, you had a fireside chat about adult children that refused to speak to their parents.
And I've been separated from my children for over 20 years.
I'm a widow.
Shortly after my husband died, my children abandoned me.
And they've been out of my life.
And with this coronavirus, thinking that, you know, if anything would draw them back to me, that that would, because...
They wouldn't have anything to do with me through my efforts.
So your empathy and compassion about the subject really, really helped me because I'm strong in the Word.
In Deuteronomy it says to be strong and courageous.
You helped me with that.
And the Lord promised not to leave me or forsake me.
And through my tragedy of not having my children in my life over 20 years.
Missing out on the opportunity to have my grandchildren in my life that I never met, except by chance, at Walmart, a grandchild I had, and a daughter-in-law I had.
So anyway, this is a tragedy.
It's a great tragedy when you have adult children.
You live with that pain of rejection constantly, constantly.
And like I said, the coronavirus just brought it to a different level that I never thought it could get to.
As far as the pain brought it to a different level of pain.
Right.
Like I said, your fireside chat was very instrumental in making a difference and increasing my faith.
Wow.
I can't tell you how much that means to me because it would be impossible to accurately describe.
That's another one of my crusades.
I have no problem with that word.
That's another one of my crusades is the issue of adult children who have refused to speak to a parent.
In a handful of cases, it may be morally justifiable.
In the vast majority, it is not morally justifiable.
It is an act of cruelty.
People need people need people.
A man who lost a child, 21 years of age, in a car crash.
I spoke to him, and I'm not really good at small talk, so I always ask serious questions of people I meet.
And I knew that he had lost his son, and I asked him if...
He found that anything was of any help to him.
He said religion wasn't, therapy wasn't, yoga wasn't, travel wasn't.
He said one thing helped.
I was so curious.
Being with other parents who lost a child made sense to me.
12-step programs don't work without other people at an AA meeting.
We need God and we need people.
That's a very big help.
Whatever one does go through.
When this woman just spoke to me about her, I don't know how many children that was.
Her son, her sons, I assume.
She said daughter-in-law.
I was thinking I would pay $1,000 out of my own money to each of those children to interview them why they stopped speaking to their mother.
I mean, if you haven't been sexually abused, and even some who were have found the power to forgive, why would you do that?
Thank you.
I'm sorry.
