Dennis Prager Show - John Fund Analyzes the Bloated $1.9T Relief Bill Aired: 2021-03-09 Duration: 02:50 === Government Workers' Benefits (02:11) === [00:00:00] John, we were talking about H.R.1, which is government takeover of state elections and how it's skewed to keep the Democrats in power. [00:00:13] But while I have you, I feel like a guy who's ordering a second dessert. [00:00:18] I would like to get a brief take on the $2 trillion bailout. [00:00:29] Well, that may be the second worst piece of legislation I have seen in the last 40 years. [00:00:35] Think about this. [00:00:38] How many people do you know who have lost their jobs or had hours cut back and are struggling with paying their bills? [00:00:47] I bet you and I both know a lot. [00:00:48] Of course, yes. [00:00:50] Did you know that government workers, who, by the way, even if they've been working from home, Haven't, you know, reduced hours, haven't suffered any cutback in pay. [00:01:03] Did you know that this bill includes a $20,000 leave benefit because they've been on leave at home for federal workers? [00:01:17] No, I did not know that. [00:01:19] $20,000. [00:01:21] Now, private sector workers aren't eligible for that. [00:01:24] Just government workers for the pay. [00:01:26] This is the seal of the corruption. [00:01:29] I'll tell you what gets me. [00:01:31] The bailing out of Democratic governors and mayors of the gigantic, irresponsible debts that they have created, and now they will be paid in paper money manufactured by the government. [00:01:49] Yes, and by the way, Dennis, I forgot to mention that the worst part, in some ways, of the H.R.1, which we have to reference, is the free speech provisions. === Aclu And Anonymous Speech (00:54) === [00:02:03] You will no longer be allowed to make anonymous speech or anonymous contributions, even if you contribute $5 to a campaign that's going to show up. [00:02:12] We all know what happened in California, the supporters of Prop 8 a few years ago, which was over gay marriage. [00:02:17] They were often intimidated and harassed, were fired from their jobs. [00:02:21] It requires that nonprofits that contact government over a bill will have to completely disclose their activities and their donors. [00:02:30] The ACLU, Dennis, which, as you know, has gone astray so badly, the ACLU filed a 13-page letter opposing H.R. 1 in its entirety because of its restrictions. [00:02:41] Wow. [00:02:42] Well, wow. [00:02:43] There is some good news. [00:02:45] John Fund, I wish we could continue. [00:02:46] We will. [00:02:48] His article is up at DennisPrager.com.
