Dennis Prager Show - America Inching Closer to a Police State Aired: 2021-02-08 Duration: 07:11 === Judge Zia Faruqi's Decisions (07:11) === [00:00:00] The first time in my life that I am saying that America is devolving into a police state, I never exaggerate. [00:00:07] One of the reasons I've been on for 35 years. [00:00:11] I don't lie and I don't exaggerate. [00:00:14] That's why I never said anything about the fire extinguisher. [00:00:18] I didn't know it to be true. [00:00:20] There are right-wing things that I don't know to be true, and I don't say them. [00:00:26] So when I tell you that we're devolving into a police state, it's a literal, indisputable fact that a man who was on the lawn of the Capitol is in prison without the possibility of bail while accused rapists and murderers and sex offenders are let out. [00:00:48] This is a very sick society that the left is creating. [00:00:52] Julie Kelly's article is about Coy Griffin. [00:00:56] Who is in prison. [00:00:58] How long has he been in prison? [00:01:00] I believe he was arrested or turned himself in around January 8th or 10th, so we're going on almost four weeks. [00:01:11] And the argument of the judge, I want to talk about the judge in a moment, the argument is that there's a risk of flight, but They could just take away his passport, correct? [00:01:28] Sure. [00:01:29] Yes, they could. [00:01:30] So it's a phony excuse to keep him in prison. [00:01:36] That's right. [00:01:38] Now, these are federal judges who are overturning local judges who have said, okay, well, this person could be on home detention or release. [00:01:50] By the way, even that, home detention on a misdemeanor? [00:01:54] Yes, misdemeanor. [00:01:55] A serious percentage of this country would be in home detention. [00:02:01] Correct. [00:02:03] I mean, you kind of have to laugh because it's so terrifying. [00:02:08] Is there a movement to defend this man? [00:02:14] I've gotten that question quite a bit, Donna. [00:02:16] I don't know. [00:02:17] I know that some of the reporting says that these defendants are having a really hard time finding and keeping counsel, which is something you kind of talked about on your show last Friday also. [00:02:30] But what they're doing is using these misdemeanors. [00:02:34] I think it's important for people to know to build sedition cases against Americans. [00:02:38] This came out of the mouth of the acting attorney general of the United States, who, by the way, was not appointed by any president or confirmed by the Senate. [00:02:46] I believe just the CEO, Jay Leifer, bragging openly that they are targeting and building basically never used edition cases against Americans for supporting Donald Trump. [00:02:59] And it's not an exaggeration. [00:03:03] You are correct. [00:03:06] Do you know anything about this Zia Faruqi? [00:03:11] See you. [00:03:12] The judge? [00:03:13] Zia Faruqi is the one who handed down, is handing down quite a few of these sentences and keeping people in jail throughout trial. [00:03:24] This is a swamp at work. [00:03:25] He was a member, he was a prosecutor in the D.C. U.S. Attorney's Office for 12 years. [00:03:31] He was appointed a magistrate, so he wasn't even appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. [00:03:36] He was appointed a magistrate by the D.C. I [00:04:07] know, but first of all, Since when are there trials for misdemeanors, let alone federal trials? [00:04:15] No, I'm asking. [00:04:17] I wasn't making a point. [00:04:20] I'm truly asking. [00:04:22] I mean, is this uncommon? [00:04:25] I would have to think that it's uncommon for a trial for someone trespassing near the Capitol grounds one charge. [00:04:32] I would think that that would be hard to prove. [00:04:35] And who makes the decision? [00:04:38] I assume there's no jury. [00:04:40] I don't think so. [00:04:42] I believe it's just that this judge will oversee it. [00:04:47] What's the maximum punishment for a misdemeanor? [00:04:52] I would assume, I'm not an attorney, but I would assume a year at most for this kind of a charge. [00:05:01] And they're almost all misdemeanor. [00:05:05] Meanwhile, Dennis, keep in mind, we still don't know the quote-unquote murderer of Officer Brian Sickness. [00:05:12] They can't figure out who that is because that story's falling apart as well. [00:05:16] But they can round up people who entered the Capitol and broke a few windows. [00:05:23] Not to minimize that, they should be charged for those crimes, but not built into sedition crimes against Americans. [00:05:30] So six, seven months of... [00:05:33] Staggering damage to humans and property, basically uncharged with anything. [00:05:39] A guy is on the lawn of the Capitol and is imprisoned already for a month with no possibility of bail. [00:05:48] I just want people to understand what the left does to everything it touches, including the judiciary and everything else that ruins it. [00:05:56] So who are these other two dozen people? [00:06:00] So, you will recall the man who was sitting behind Nancy Pelosi's desk. [00:06:05] Now, obviously, he should not have been there. [00:06:08] He has been charged by a grand jury with eight counts. [00:06:11] Only one is a felony, which was carrying a deadly weapon onto Capitol grounds, which turned out to be a walking stick. [00:06:18] That's also a stun gun that anyone can buy on Amazon. [00:06:21] That's the only federal felony charge against him. [00:06:25] He also is being held in jail without bond. [00:06:28] And this judge, Beryl Howell, who's the chief district judge in D.C., condemned him, scolded him, said he was a danger to democracy. [00:06:39] He defiled the U.S. Constitution by daring to sit behind Nancy Pelosi's desk. [00:06:46] Again, you will remember the climate activist brought into Nancy Pelosi's office in 2018 by AOC, who occupied her office the entire day. [00:06:54] They weren't charged with anything. [00:06:57] I believe his name is Robert Sanford. [00:06:59] No, I'm sorry. [00:07:00] He's the fireman, Griffin. [00:07:04] The man behind Pelosi's desk is now sits in jail. [00:07:08] Also awaiting trial. [00:07:10] Okay, hold on there.
