Dennis Prager Show - Dennis Debates a Caller Over Masks Aired: 2021-01-04 Duration: 06:23 === Why Masks Outdoors? (03:44) === [00:00:00] They suppress dissent? [00:00:02] I welcome it. [00:00:03] Julius in Jersey City, thank you for calling. [00:00:06] New Jersey. [00:00:08] Yeah, Dennis, I'm just going to be blunt here. [00:00:11] Grow up with the whining about Newsom. [00:00:14] The reason you wear the mask is not so much to protect yourself, but because nobody knows if you have a virus or not, and your spittle, when you talk, that actually comes out of your mouth, might hit someone, and they get infected. [00:00:26] That's the reason you wear the mask, why I wear the mask, why people should wear the mask. [00:00:32] As I always note, I wear a mask whenever I go inside any place. [00:00:37] Yeah, and it also includes walking down the street and dealing with... [00:00:40] It does. [00:00:40] Yeah. [00:00:41] Okay. [00:00:42] So when you have... [00:00:44] Allow me to talk now. [00:00:46] Do you wear a mask when you walk alone outside? [00:00:52] Well, it depends on where I am. [00:00:53] If I'm by myself in my own little area where I'm going to be expecting no one, yeah. [00:00:59] So if somebody passes you outdoors, you feel that there is a real risk of you're infecting them, A, and that they will die from it. [00:01:12] You think those are real risks? [00:01:14] You know what? [00:01:15] Let's pull the stop here. [00:01:17] It's not so much about just dying. [00:01:18] It just sucks. [00:01:20] Getting sick, okay? [00:01:21] Okay, so you feel that... [00:01:23] Let's just be honest here. [00:01:24] It's not just about dying. [00:01:25] Okay, it's not just... [00:01:27] You're right. [00:01:27] It's about getting really sick, right. [00:01:30] Okay, that's fair. [00:01:31] So you feel that there is a genuine risk of people getting really sick from your passing them while walking outdoors. [00:01:39] I'm not arguing with you. [00:01:40] I'm trying to understand why you would wear a mask outdoors. [00:01:46] Because Spittle, if I'm talking on the phone, for instance, Spittle can hit people. [00:01:52] And I'm going to explain to you why. [00:01:54] And you know what? [00:01:55] I want to expand on this, on the thing about eating. [00:01:59] There's a difference between eating face-to-face, where you're chewing down on a hoagie, and spit could hit someone else across you. [00:02:09] And I think, you know, from that of saying, like, if you're sitting in an airplane, like in JetBlue, Where the middle seat is left vacant. [00:02:21] And I doubt, unless you eat side to side, you're most likely not going to aim your spit at someone while you're eating. [00:02:32] Because you're going to be facing down. [00:02:34] How far does your spit travel when you eat? [00:02:38] Let's see. [00:02:39] I travel a lot and I eat. [00:02:41] No, no, no. [00:02:43] I didn't ask how much you travel. [00:02:45] How much does your spit travel? [00:02:46] I'm not being cute. [00:02:48] I think you are being cute right now. [00:02:52] No, no. [00:02:53] I think it's unrealistic to believe. [00:02:56] We have no evidence whatsoever. [00:02:58] You know, here's the thing. [00:02:59] Okay, I have to be able to speak. [00:03:01] I'm really sorry. [00:03:03] I have to be able to speak, too. [00:03:04] Not because it's my show, but because that's the way people have civil dialogue. [00:03:10] So, we have zero evidence that people eating face-to-face, outdoors, During the brief time that that was allowed has increased COVID suffering or death. [00:03:23] A state that is open where you can eat indoors as well as outdoors is Florida. [00:03:29] Florida has fewer people per capita dying than California. === Damage To America's Children (02:52) === [00:03:34] Well, he hung up. [00:03:35] Okay. [00:03:36] But the rest of you can hear me. [00:03:39] He may not be. [00:03:43] Florida, they should be dying like flies. [00:03:46] There should be mass suffering and death. [00:03:51] Why are schools closed? [00:03:55] If kids get it, the chances of their getting seriously ill, let alone dying, are minuscule, truly minuscule. [00:04:02] The chances, however, of their lives being adversely, truly adversely affected by no school for a year are tremendous. [00:04:12] The damage being done to America's children is a form of child abuse. [00:04:16] I charge all the teachers unions and every teacher who is a member and supports the union with ruining their children's lives. [00:04:24] But teachers unions care about children and students as much as communists cared about workers. [00:04:31] Teachers unions use students. [00:04:33] They don't give a damn about students. [00:04:36] And cowardly teachers who won't go in a classroom? [00:04:40] I am a senior citizen. [00:04:41] I would walk into any classroom mask-free and teach kids with joy. [00:04:48] Try me out. [00:04:49] Invite me. [00:04:51] You cowards. [00:04:53] You fools. [00:04:54] You corrupting of the kids. [00:04:56] Take your kids out of the schools where teachers refuse to teach your children. [00:05:00] They are abusing your children. [00:05:04] Sweden kept its schools open the entire time. [00:05:11] God Almighty. [00:05:13] Look, half the country agrees with me, and half the country doesn't agree with me. [00:05:18] That's right. [00:05:20] And half the country that disagrees is a frightening half. [00:05:24] Because they will ruin the lives of the entire country, not just the fools who agree with them. [00:05:32] That's the problem. [00:05:35] Because these people have no problem crushing the business. [00:05:39] You know what this is all about. [00:05:41] People who have their incomes are perfectly happy with crushing people who lose their incomes. [00:05:47] Right? [00:05:49] Tell me one official, has Newsom lost his salary? [00:05:53] Tell me one government official who's lost their salary while they force people to lose their incomes. [00:06:03] The callousness in the name of health. [00:06:07] In the name of health. [00:06:09] Health uber alles. [00:06:10] I said this before COVID. The fascist notion, Deutschland uber alles, Germany above all, it's now safety above all. [00:06:20] That's why there are safe spaces at colleges.
