Dennis Prager Show - Dennis Interviews the Leader of the Proud Boys Aired: 2020-10-28 Duration: 06:56 === Promoting Masculinity (06:55) === [00:00:01] All right, everybody, Dennis Prager here. [00:00:04] Speaking to the leader of the Proud Boys, Enrique Tarrio. [00:00:12] So, in a nutshell, I mean, you said you were, the Proud Boys were essentially guys who get together and drink and cuss and et cetera, et cetera. [00:00:24] But what do you stand for? [00:00:27] So, what we simply stand for, it's very easy. [00:00:31] We are a group that is very pro-family, and the way that we promote that is we want to make better men, right? [00:00:39] Whether that means make better brothers, make better husbands, make better fathers. [00:00:43] A statistic that I bring up is, you know, mass shootings are horrible. [00:00:49] And 23 of the past 26 mass shootings have something in common, and it's not what the Democrats have been preaching about. [00:00:56] How they acquired a gun or background checks or anything, 23 of the past 26 mass shooters come from fatherless homes. [00:01:04] It's a cultural problem that you can't legislate your way out of. [00:01:08] So what we do is we promote masculinity is what we do. [00:01:12] We promote the family. [00:01:14] So that's our main purpose. [00:01:17] Now we have members, we have across the world, we have 22,000 members, probably more now after... [00:01:23] Joe Biden's advertisement on the first debate. [00:01:29] But we could stretch ourselves in many different directions, whether it's on the legislative side. [00:01:35] We have Proud Boys that are running for Congress. [00:01:37] We have Proud Boys that are pastors. [00:01:40] I'm currently right in front of the White House. [00:01:42] We do things that typically you don't think conservatives do. [00:01:48] Lafayette Park has been riddled with these BLM signs and last night I came in here with Bevelyn Beattie and we took down all those BLM signs. [00:01:56] This is the first time in six months that you're able to see the front of the White House. [00:02:04] We've essentially just cleaned it all up and I'm watching people right now taking pictures in front of the White House and I'm very happy that we did so. [00:02:16] Like I said, we're a Swiss army knife of politics. [00:02:23] So you are known for showing up where there are BLM protests, or riots for that matter. [00:02:33] And the purpose of your showing up is what? [00:02:38] Well, no, we don't show up. [00:02:41] We didn't show up in any BLM protests when it came to the George Floyd riots. [00:02:46] We actually stayed clear of them. [00:02:48] We actually stayed clear of even Antifa events. [00:02:52] We host our own events. [00:02:54] We throw pretty good rallies. [00:02:56] We did two end domestic terrorism rallies in Portland, and we stayed very far away from the city center, which is the epicenter of what I think where all these riots initially came from, where we see the mayor and the governor do absolutely nothing while their city burns. [00:03:15] To us, and I think to many Americans, the act of violence for political gain is what terrorism is. [00:03:24] And we protest against that. [00:03:27] We protest against censorship of conservatives on these digital platforms. [00:03:34] There's many things that we do, but those are the two focuses I guess right now. [00:03:38] Do you have a website? [00:03:40] Yes. [00:03:42] Proudboysusa.com, and then I run the 1776.shop, which is our merchandise store also, where people can see what the Proud Boys are about. [00:03:53] We have no donation links. [00:03:54] You cannot donate to the Proud Boys, and that's something that we're always going to hold. [00:04:00] We do things out of love, and we don't want to involve anything that has to do with donations to our organization. [00:04:11] So this is interesting. [00:04:13] I just put in, during the break, I put in Google Proud Boys website. [00:04:22] You won't find it. [00:04:24] Right. [00:04:24] I get Proud Boys Wikipedia, which already in the first sentence calls you neo-fascist. [00:04:30] Then I get the hate group, the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is a bona fide left-wing hate group. [00:04:40] By the way, so I looked even at what the Southern Poverty Law Center Hate Group described, and so listen to this. [00:04:49] This is how it begins. [00:04:51] Their disavowals of bigotry are belied by their actions, rank-and-file, proud boys, and leaders regularly spout white nationalist memes. [00:05:03] So I... I looked for what your white nationalist memes are, and I clicked on the word white nationalist, which is a URL. You know, it's underlined. [00:05:20] And all I get is another Southern Poverty Law Center website or page about white nationalism. [00:05:32] It's not about you. [00:05:34] Yeah. [00:05:39] Alright, so here's an example. [00:05:40] Okay, so they go down and they quote Gavin McGinnis a lot. [00:05:44] Is he still with you? [00:05:46] No, he's a good friend of mine, but he's no longer with the organization. [00:05:50] He actually stepped down because of our guys being arrested in New York City and going to trial without facing their accuser. [00:06:01] But he stepped down because of that. [00:06:03] But Gavin's still a good friend of mine. [00:06:04] I still watch his show. [00:06:07] Still help him where I could. [00:06:09] He helps me out when he could, but no, he's not part of the organization currently. [00:06:13] All right, so here's a comment that they're all... [00:06:16] All the examples of the haters seem to be attributed, none of them to you. [00:06:21] They're all to Gavin McGinnis. [00:06:24] And so here's an example. [00:06:30] I'm not a fan of Islam. [00:06:32] I think it's fair to call me Islamophobic. [00:06:35] So why is that racist? [00:06:37] I mean, it may be wrong. [00:06:39] It may be a whole host of things, but Islam is not a race. [00:06:43] But it's not a white nationalist issue. [00:06:45] All right. [00:06:46] Anyway, listen, I'd like to talk to you again. [00:06:48] At least I wanted to make acquaintance with you and have my listeners know more about Proud Boys.
