[00:00:23] And this is not to cast aspersion on his colleagues. [00:00:28] As you all know, I divide good people into three groups, and I hope Senator Cruz hears this because he will understand how I regard him. [00:00:36] There are three types of good people. [00:00:39] Those who fight, those who help the fighters, and those who do nothing. [00:00:42] Those who do nothing is the largest group, and those who help the fighters are very important, and he is a fighter. [00:01:05] So you have a book out, a really important one, One Vote Away, How a Single Supreme Court Seat Can Change History, and you review cases where indeed one vote has changed history. [00:01:16] When was the last time, and I should know the answer, but I don't. [00:01:23] Do you know the answer? [00:01:25] When was the last time that there was a clear conservative majority on the Supreme Court? [00:01:32] I don't know that we've ever had a conservative majority on the Supreme Court, at least in modern times. [00:01:38] We have had a Republican majority for decades. [00:01:42] But one of the things the book goes through is that Republicans are terrible at nominating Supreme Court justices. [00:01:52] They get almost 100% of their picks right. [00:01:55] Republicans, we don't even bat 500. Many of the worst judicial activists in history were nominated by Republican presidents. [00:02:04] And the last chapter of the book, I traced the history of Supreme Court nominations going back to Dwight D. Eisenhower.
