Dennis Prager Show - BLM Dividing Families and Threatening Jobs Aired: 2020-07-13 Duration: 04:53 === Dedication's Toll (04:53) === [00:00:00] Hello, Mr. Prager. [00:00:01] Thank you for taking my call. [00:00:02] It's an honor to speak with you, sir, as always. [00:00:04] Thank you. [00:00:05] I just wanted to ask, I'll try to be as concise as possible. [00:00:09] I've been a police officer for 16 years. [00:00:11] I've spoken to you a few times now. [00:00:13] And my parents, they fled the Soviet Union, and I was born in Canada. [00:00:18] I was always grateful to this country and to the West for the opportunities, and I wanted to serve my country. [00:00:23] I served overseas twice, peacekeeping in Afghanistan and Ukraine. [00:00:29] And I've dedicated my life to service and I'm having a very tough time right now. [00:00:33] I lead about 22 officers on the job and we're all very fearful every day we come into work now. [00:00:40] I've never been this bad. [00:00:42] We're fearful that either we're going to lose our lives or that a 10-second clip will label us a racist and our lives will be ruined another way and probably another terrible fashion. [00:00:54] And I'm struggling with my own family that they don't support me publicly. [00:00:59] They support Black Lives Matter for the most part. [00:01:02] And when I try to communicate to them the ideologies that they hold and the life experience that I have dealing with that organization, they tell me that we'll just have to agree to disagree. [00:01:14] And I find myself feeling very distant from them and very hurt by that lack of support because... [00:01:20] They know who I am. [00:01:21] They know the character that I have and my colleagues have. [00:01:24] And I'm just asking and reaching out to you. [00:01:27] Are you married? [00:01:29] I'm not. [00:01:30] I have a girlfriend and her family and her are extremely supportive of me. [00:01:34] And they're kind of like my lifeline, actually. [00:01:36] So, okay. [00:01:37] Them and you, sir. [00:01:39] Well, thank you. [00:01:40] I'm glad to be that. [00:01:41] Is she marriageable material, to put it bluntly? [00:01:49] She's divorced, has a 10-year-old child. [00:01:52] We're both strong Christians. [00:01:54] My father is Jewish, but at this time... [00:01:58] What prevents you from getting married? [00:02:00] Oh, she's afraid of getting married? [00:02:02] She's afraid. [00:02:03] I'm open to it. [00:02:04] Wait, why is she afraid? [00:02:06] Because of her past experience. [00:02:09] Well, since you listen so avidly, you might know my response to that. [00:02:14] The driving, the driving, right? [00:02:16] Have you asked her that? [00:02:18] Not yet, sir. [00:02:19] We've only been together for about four months. [00:02:23] She's been, again, a lifeline to me, but I'm finding it very difficult to actually be close to my family now. [00:02:30] I find myself withdrawing, and I wear my heart on my sleeve. [00:02:34] Well, but don't. [00:02:35] See, this is interesting. [00:02:36] I was blessed by God or nature with shock absorbers. [00:02:42] These things, one of the things that I have always known, Is the unimportance of blood. [00:02:51] And so that has protected me from any hurts that would be within family life. [00:02:58] I'm not saying I have wonderful, many wonderful, obviously, family members. [00:03:03] I want to make that clear. [00:03:04] But I've had that as well. [00:03:06] But I was prepared for it because I knew that blood doesn't mean a damn thing. [00:03:13] Everything is values. [00:03:16] And, you know, if you've seen my fireside chats, I did one on blood just a couple of weeks ago. [00:03:24] And I think it's an eye-opener, especially to young people, that values are so much more important than blood. [00:03:30] So just, yes, you could withdraw. [00:03:33] What you should do now is just be, I don't want you ever to sever relations with family, obviously. [00:03:39] Now what, in my opinion, For what it's worth, and apparently it's worth a lot to you, so I say this with some humility, but I would not raise these issues. [00:03:52] I would be aware I am not that close to them as I would like to be. [00:03:58] C'est la vie, as you folks would say in Canada. [00:04:02] And then I find kindred spirits, which was the theme of my happiness hour, outside of my family. [00:04:11] And it's unbelievably helpful. [00:04:15] And I hope you get married. [00:04:17] And that'll really answer the problem. [00:04:21] Because imagine, just imagine, this should make your day. [00:04:27] Imagine if you were married to somebody who had contempt for your views. [00:04:34] Thank you, sir. [00:04:36] My pleasure. [00:04:37] Thank you. [00:04:37] I hope we meet one day. [00:04:41] It's unique. [00:04:42] Talk Radio is unique. [00:04:47] It's really something. [00:04:48] I never lose sight of the good things of my life and of your life.
