Dennis Prager Show - Sen Duckworth: Should We Tear Down Washington's Statue? Aired: 2020-07-07 Duration: 03:24 === National Dialogue Needed (03:00) === [00:00:00] Okay, let's hear her. [00:00:03] This is important. [00:00:08] Named after Confederate leaders, but there are leaders like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson who were slave owners, and some people are demanding that their monuments come down, too. [00:00:18] So, in your view, where does it end? [00:00:20] Should statues, an example of George Washington, come down? [00:00:24] Well, let me just say that we should start off by having a national dialogue on it at some point, but right now we're in the middle of a global pandemic. [00:00:32] Okay, okay, hold on, hold on, hold on. [00:00:35] We should have a national discussion on it. [00:00:39] So she's not prepared to say no. [00:00:43] Senator of the United States of America, from Illinois, whether we should tear down George Washington and Abraham Lincoln statues. [00:00:54] Yeah, blow up the Washington Monument. [00:00:56] These are Taliban. [00:00:58] The left, Democrats are equivalent to the Taliban. [00:01:02] Remember everybody got angry about blowing up the Buddhist statues? [00:01:06] They regarded Buddhism as heretical, and these people regard the founders as heretical. [00:01:14] I see no difference. [00:01:15] Well, you say, well, they're not violent. [00:01:18] Really? [00:01:20] There's not a violent wing? [00:01:22] Taliban had a violent wing, or was a violent wing. [00:01:27] There's no violent wing to the left? [00:01:29] Say, well, there's a violent wing to the right. [00:01:31] No, there isn't. [00:01:32] There are violent individuals on the right. [00:01:35] Not a wing. [00:01:40] Anyway, certainly, ideologically, they're like the Taliban. [00:01:44] So we'll have a national discussion. [00:01:46] That's all she says. [00:01:47] Now she goes on to what the president should have talked about. [00:01:50] Go on. [00:01:51] At some point, but right now we're in the middle of a global pandemic, and one of our allies, one of our countries that are opposed to us, Russia, has put a bounty on American troops' head. [00:02:03] What really struck me about the speech that the president gave at Mount Rushmore was that he spent more time worried about honoring dead Confederates than he did. [00:02:12] Okay, that's a lie. [00:02:13] He did not worry about dead Confederates. [00:02:18] They didn't say anything about it. [00:02:20] Is that correct? [00:02:20] I mean, I just want to bounce this off Mr. Truth. [00:02:26] The living martyr is Mr. Truth. [00:02:31] I'm sorry? [00:02:32] Talked about Lincoln. [00:02:35] They say anything, because truth is not a left-wing value. [00:02:39] Next, continue. [00:02:41] Honoring dead Confederates than he did talking about the lives of the 130,000 Americans who lost their lives to COVID-19. === Overcoming The Pandemic (00:38) === [00:02:50] Wait a minute. [00:02:51] He's supposed to go to Mount Rushmore on Independence Day to talk about deaths from COVID? Okay, go on. [00:03:03] ...or by warning Russia off of the bounty they're putting on Americans' heads. [00:03:07] I mean, his priorities are all wrong here. [00:03:10] He should be talking about what we're going to do to overcome this pandemic. [00:03:13] What are we going to do to push Russia back? [00:03:15] What does it mean, overcome the pandemic? [00:03:18] What is your take on overcoming the pandemic? [00:03:22] Keep Americans unemployed for another year?
